Moroccan’s Chant “Death To America” – Hillary Calls Video “Reprehensible”

Putting Hillary’s apology statement at the top

(Politico) The anti-Islam video that sparked protests in Libya and Egypt is “disgusting and reprehensible,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Thursday, but it’s no reason for violence.

“Let me state very clearly — and I hope it is obvious — that the United States government had absolutely nothing to do with this video. We absolutely reject its content and message. America’s commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation,” Clinton said at the State Department, as she held a pre-scheduled meeting with Moroccan leaders.

The apology tour continues. Quite frankly, I’m so angry about the continued apologies and denigration of Free Speech by the Obama administration that I can’t think of what to write about this.

 

She did say that “violence in response to a speech is not acceptable”, true, but to slam people engaging in free speech is despicable. Here’s the video, via Mediaite

It would seem that the purpose of the film in question, she said, is simply to “denigrate a great religion and provoke rage.”

And Islamists are more than happy to oblige.

The Obama Doctrine on display

(Press TV) Following protests in Cairo and Libya Tuesday, where a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were murdered, hundreds of Muslims gathered outside the U.S. consulate in Morocco’s largest city Casablanca to protest an anti-Muslim film that reportedly disrespects the prophet Mohammad, according to an AFP report.

As many as 400 protesters crowded along the consulate walls and chanted anti-U.S. statements, including “Death to Obama!” At the time of this report, there had been no reports of violence and the protests were being monitored by a heavy police presence.

Sadly, that’s very true. And then there’s this

(Yahoo News) President Barack Obama says the U.S. would not consider Egypt an ally, “but we don’t consider them an enemy.”

Obama said in an interview with the Spanish-language network Telemundo that Egypt is a “new government that is trying to find its way.” And he warned that if the Egyptian government takes actions showing “they’re not taking responsibility,” then it would “be a real big problem.”

What world does Obama live in that he thinks Egypt is some sort of never-never land between ally and enemy? Egypt is too big, too strategically located to be left to drift. I can’t think of another major country that would fit this definition. China perhaps but they’ve gone from being an enemy (the Korean War) to something less than a friend or hot enemy. But that’s progress in the right direction. Downgrading Egypt is a major foreign policy hit and one with potentially catastrophic consequences (war with Israel, the Suez Canal, intelligence sharing, etc).

Wasn’t Joe Biden brought on as VP in order to provide foreign policy advice? Maybe Joe was right about the presidency not lending itself to on the job training? And Hillary said that Obama wasn’t ready for the 3am call. She seems to be right.

Unshockingly, one liberal thinks “Sam Bacile” should be arrested. Twitchy destroyed her line of reasoning yesterday.

The US prosecutor-general said on Wednesday that four people were being questioned after Tuesday’s events.

Nine Coptic Egyptian-Americans were also put on an airport watch list. They are believed to have contributed to the production of the anti-Islam film that led to the embassy protest.

Is that suggesting that the US put these people on the airport watch list over exercising their 1st Amendment Rights?

Most Voters Think Economy Will Improve If We “Change Course”

The recession officially ended in July 2009. A few years later, the US has had 43 months of 8%+ unemployment, real wages and savings are down, GDP resembles a 2nd world nation, people are abandoning the jobs market in record numbers, personal debt is high, and the US debt is now over $16 trillion. People do not feel that the recession ever ended

(Fox News) Less than two months before Election Day, most likely voters think the country is still in a recession, and a majority thinks the economy will improve faster if the country changes course rather than stays the course.

That’s according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday.

Fully 80 percent of likely voters believe the recession continues — that includes 44 percent who think things are nevertheless getting better and 36 percent who say things could get worse.

Eighteen percent of voters think the recession is over, but that includes 10 percent who think another could be coming.  All in all, eight percent of voters believe the recession is over and the economy is recovering.

Don’t worry, though, because “the private sector is doing fine.” The one you didn’t build

Meanwhile, by a 55-33 percent margin, likely voters say — regardless of which candidate wins the election — the economy will rebound faster if we “change course” rather than “stay on our current course.”

Not surprisingly, 93 percent of those who want to stay the course back President Obama in this year’s presidential election. Of those who say the country needs to change course, 73 percent support Mitt Romney.

Almost all Republicans (91 percent), over half of independents (53 percent) as well as a quarter of Democrats (25 percent) think the economy will recover faster by changing course.

I’m amazed that the numbers aren’t higher in favor of changing course. After 4 years of Obamanomics, it’s quite clear that Obama’s polices, along with those of his Democrat compatriots, have failed miserably.

The American people have a choice come November 6th: continue on this path of malaise or vote to try something different. Unfortunately, there are a ton of people who are beholden to the government for their livelihood and lives.

As Embassy In Yemen Attacked, Obama Discusses “Tough Day” At Campaign Appearance

I surmise we’re suppose to have some sort of sympathy for Obama or something

(Washington Post) President Obama went through with a campaign appearance in Las Vegas on Wednesday evening and, after laboring to quiet an exuberant crowd, began his speech with a somber tribute to the four Americans killed Tuesday in Libya.

Obama, visibly weary and seeming to struggle to display the usual energy and sharpness of his campaign appearances, opened with a description of the “tough day that we’ve had today.” With a crowd of more than 8,000 at a Las Vegas convention center still screaming and cheering, Obama, wearing no jacket and his sleeves rolled up, held up his hands and paid tribute to the dead, who he said “were working to advance the interests and the values that we hold dear as Americans.”

That’s how he describes a day when 4 Americans were killed, including the visusal of the body of the US Ambassador to Libya being dragged in the streets. The embassy was torched. The embassy in Egypt was attacked, the US flag torn down, and a flag similar to the al Qaeda flag was hoisted. And the embassy in Cairo was attacked again last night. That’s his “tough day”

(NY Times) “We want to send a message all around the world,’’ Mr. Obama said. “No act of terror will dim the light of the values that we proudly shine on the rest of the world, and no act of violence will shake the resolve of the United States of America.”

Mr. Obama reiterated his intention to punish those responsible, saying: “Al Qaeda is on the path to defeat and bin Laden is dead. We still face threats in this world and we’ve got to remain vigilant, and that’s why we will be relentless in our pursuit of those who attacked us yesterday.”

And he spikes the football again. Perhaps the militant protesters are a bit upset over their icon being killed and used as a campaign talking point. As for pursuing the attackers, how well does that work when the President immediately hits the campaign trail? Probably about as well as the jobs market, to which Obama has stated time after time after time after time that he’ll focus on as his #1 priority. And while he was making yet another campaign appearance

(NY Times) Turmoil in the Arab world linked to a contentious video denigrating the Prophet Muhammad spread on Thursday to Yemen, where hundreds of protesters stormed the United States Embassy, two days after assailants killed the American ambassador in Libya and crowds tried to overrun the embassy compound in Cairo.

In Sana, witnesses said Yemeni security forces had tried to disperse a crowd at the fortified embassy compound in the east of Sana, the capital. But protesters broke through an outer perimeter protecting the embassy, clambering over a high wall and setting fire to a building.

They were forced to retreat after trying to plunder furniture and computers, the witnesses said.

Security forces guarding the embassy fired into the air as protesters set fire to two vehicles and burned tires. Protesters tore down and burned an American flag, replacing it with their own banner proclaiming the Islamic faith, witnesses said.

Said flag was black with the message “There is no God but Allah.” Similar to al Qaeda’s flag. Imagine that.

News reports also spoke of a separate protest in Tehran, where around 500 Iranians chanting “Death to America” tried to converge on the Swiss Embassy, which handles United States interests in the absence of formal diplomatic relations with Washington.

The Swiss Embassy represents US interests in Iran, hence the protest. In Germany, a worker at the US consulate in Germany fell ill after being handed a letter with a powdery substance in it, though no one is sure what as of yet, or whether it is linked.

He was scheduled to travel to Denver after his Las Vegas appearance for a campaign event in suburban Golden on Thursday morning.

Imagine this was President Bush: think the media would treat him with kid gloves, or would they be in Force 10 Apoplexy?

Afghanistan Blocks YouTube Over Anti-Mohammed Video

On one hand, you have to wonder if this is what we’ve fought in Afghanistan all these years to see: blocking freedom of speech. On the other hand, can you blame the government of Afghanistan? They must know that theirs is the only religion that will riot, burn, destroy, and kill over a simple video

(Telegraph) The Afghan government on Wednesday banned YouTube from the country for the first time to prevent people from watching an anti-Islam film, The Innocence of Muslims, which sparked a riot in Libya that killed the US ambassador and three other American diplomats.

“Following instructions by the ministry of information and culture, the ministry of communication has ordered all service providers to block YouTube access,” communications ministry official Aimal Marjan told AFP.

On third hand, Muslims sure seem to be touchy people.

He said the block had been ordered “until YouTube removes this abusive film”.

And you just know that YouTube will remove it. They always cave to fascists, whether they be Progressives, Warmists, or Islamists. Now, if it was a video that demeaned Christianity, there’s no way it would be removed. Partly because Google doesn’t have to worry about Christians blowing up the companies people, servers, and buildings.

The Afghan presidency earlier condemned the film as “inhuman and insulting,” calling for it not to be broadcast.

Know what else is inhuman? Blowing people up because they do not subscribe to your religion.

And this is what we’ve fought for all these years. So far the movie hasn’t been removed. And does, let’s be honest, look pretty dumb. But, is free speech here in America.

And what’s Obama doing after giving a bland statement on what happened in Libya and Egypt (and refusing to take questions)? He’s on his way to Las Vegas for a fundraiser. A complete abdication of duty. And JackM rightly points out that Team Obama used stronger language against Dinesh D’souza than against the Islamists.

More: Allahpundit wonders if there had been intelligence about a possible attack, or at least threats, leading up to yesterday’s attack. Especially considering the embassy had seen bombs go off outside previously. ANd

….one of the Marines at the consulate apparently even saw Libyan “security” taking photos of the compound beforehand.

Remember, if you’re hanging around taking pictures here in the US of a military base, power plant, government building, etc, you might be asked some pointed questions.

Why, apparently, didn’t Obama attend any of his daily intel briefings this week with the anniversary of 9/11 bearing down?

I’m sure the media will be sure to get right to asking him questions about the non-existent security at the embassy in what was just recently a war zone. Heh. Made myself laugh.

GOP Bill Would “Cripple Global Hotcoldwetdry Efforts”

(The Hill) An Environmental Protection Agency official said during a Tuesday hearing that a House Republican-sponsored bill would “cripple” the agency’s ability to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Energy and Power hearing discussed a bill (H.R. 4255) that would eliminate EPA’s ability to offer financial assistance for international greenhouse gas reduction activities.

It’s not a large sum of money, “just” $140 million since 2001 (that we officially know about), but why should we spend money around the world to deal with hotcoldwetdry? We shouldn’t be spending it here, either.

“The EPA believes that HR 4255 will cripple the agency’s ability through grants to address harmful air pollutants that affect both the global and domestic environment,” Hooks said in written testimony. “Air pollution from overseas sources represents a growing problem for public health globally and here in the United States.”

Yeah, we should do away with that dastardly Carbon Dioxide which is …. necessary for life on Earth.

Palin: “You Either Get Free Stuff Or Freedom”

Most know I’m no longer a big fan of Sarah Palin, but, she mostly makes sense during an interview with Bill O’Reilly

(CNS News) “We’re not explaining to the rest of America, who thinks that they’re going to get a bunch of free stuff from Obama, that you have a choice. You either get free stuff or you get freedom. You cannot have both, and you need to make a choice.

“And if we could explain and get that message through to people that there is no such thing as a free lunch — and that we are an insolvent nation when you consider us being $16 trillion in debt, we’re broke. We can’t keep continuing down this path.”

Of course, the problem with this is that a lot of people (read: Liberals) like free stuff, ie, other people being taxed heavily so that Liberals can get stuff they didn’t work for, and are willing to give up freedom to get the free stuff. These are called “moochers”, and that’s who the Democrat Party mostly represents.

If the party can’t light a fire under its base — “and get them convinced that Barack Obama’s lack of a plan to get us out of these economically woeful times — if you can’t get your message through that filter of the media, then we’re in a world of hurt.”

On this I have to disagree: it’s not the base which is the problem, it’s getting the message through to the Independents and squishy Republicans and Democrats who can switch their votes.

(Mediaite) Then speaking more specifically about campaign strategy, O’Reilly questioned whether Romney should go after President Barack Obama “in a more personal way.” Whether he should use “buzz words” like “incompetent,” “dangerous” and “socialist.” Palin argued those aren’t buzz words — they’re the truth. And yes, he should: “He needs to be severely aggressive in his articulation.”

Well, Mitt is sort of going after Obama in that manner, and the race card is pulled for ever attack, such as the “Obama Isn’t Working” one. Mitt has tried to portray himself as the adult in the room, interested more in Getting Things Done rather than play petty political games. But, his campaign is going to have to get a bit nastier, because you know that Team Obama will. Half of what Team O has offered has been direct personal attacks.

Four Americans Killed In Embassy Attack In Libya – Clinton Statement Added

Breaking news, it wasn’t just our ambassador to Libya who was killed yesterday (see previous post)

(Fox News) The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other American staff members were killed Tuesday in an attack on the U.S. consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi, the White House confirmed. President Obama, in a written statement issued Wednesday morning, called the attack “outrageous” and “senseless.”

Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens was killed Tuesday night when he and a group of embassy employees went to the consulate to try to evacuate staff. The protesters, angry over a film that ridiculed Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, were firing gunshots and rocket-propelled grenades.

The State Department identified one of the other three Americans killed as Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, a husband and father of two who had worked for the State Department for 10 years. The U.S. government is still notifying the next of kin for the other two individuals killed, and has not identified them.

Embassies around the world (read: in the Muslim world) have been put on notice to be on guard against further violence.

I’m confident all the Islamist apologistas will be out in full force (ones like The Atlantic’s Max Fisher), blaming America and attempting to paint Christians as exactly the same, yet, can anyone point towards Christians storming buildings, setting them on fire, and killing people? No one ever seems to be concerned about offending Christians and Jews, partly because …… Christians and Jews won’t go bat guano insane and riot, burn, and kill. And, about that video

A spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood, the mainstream Islamist group and the sponsor of Egypt’s first elected president, Mohamed Morsi, urged the United States government on Tuesday to prosecute the “madmen” behind the video, according to the English-language Web site of the state newspaper, Al Ahram.

The spokesman asked for a formal apology from the United States government and warned that events like the video were damaging Washington’s relations with the Muslim world. He also emphasized that any protests should remain peaceful and respect property.

Sorry, bub, but we have a thing called freedom of speech here in the US, and do not prosecute people for offending Muslims and denigrating Mohammed…..actually, under the crazy “hate crimes” laws, that could actually happen.

(Mediaite) “This is an attack that should shock the conscience of people of all faiths around the world,” said Clinton. “We condemn in the strongest terms this senseless act of violence and we send our prayers to the families, friends and colleagues of those we’ve lost.”

Um, why should it shock Christians, Jews, etc? This was being done in the name of Mohammed.

“This is not easy,” said Clinton. “Today, many Americans are asking – indeed, I asked myself – how could this happen? How could this happen in a country we helped liberate in a city we helped save from destruction?”

Anyone else get the feeling she’s somewhat blaming the US? Anyhow, we kinda know the answer, and that it involves al Qaeda/hardcore Islamist front groups getting heavily involved with the Libyan rebels, much like in many other “Arab Spring” countries.

Oh, and the US embassy in Cairo was defaced with pro-Osama graffiti.

Naturally, the maker of the film that is the supposed flash point of this exercise in outrage is in hiding. Obama had no kind words of support for him.

Naturally, Outside The Beltway goes full on RDS (Romney Derangement Syndrome). I’m having a hard time differentiating OTB from Little Green Footballs, The Democrats Underground, Daily Kos, etc.

Mostly Non-Radical Egyptians Assault US Embassy

(CNN) Angry protesters climbed the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday and tore down the American flag, apparently in protest of a film thought to insult the Prophet Mohammed.

A volley of warning shots were fired as a large crowd gathered around the compound, said CNN producer Mohammed Fahmy, who was on the scene, though it is not clear who fired the shots.

The Jawa Report thinks they have a copy of the video, and you should probably download it before Youtube goes all squishy (as usual) and bans it. Anyhow, the “protesters” hung a flag

The black flag, which hangs atop a ladder inside the compound, is adorned with white characters that read, “There is no God but Allah and Mohammad is his messenger,” an emblem often used in al Qaeda propaganda.

But, wait, it gets better! This comes from the US Embassy in Cairo

The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others

It’s cool, though, to treat women like garbage, hang gays, threaten Jews and Christians, assault Coptics…..Can’t have feeeeeewings be hurt

In other words, screw your free speech, a radical Islamist’s feeling might get hurt

And that’s why the radicals win, because people like these State Dept. weenies refuse to see.

I condemn in the strongest terms the attack on our mission in Benghazi today. As we work to secure our personnel and facilities, we have confirmed that one of our State Department officers was killed. We are heartbroken by this terrible loss. This evening, I called Libyan President Magariaf to coordinate additional support to protect Americans in Libya. President Magariaf expressed his condemnation and condolences and pledged his government’s full cooperation.

Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. Which is rather strange, since Liberals and the State Dept. rarely have a problem when Christian and Jews religious beliefs are denigrated.

And over in Libya, our Ambassador was killed.
