Climate Change Means Weather Actually Changes

Doooooom!

(The Gazette) Four generations of my ancestors made a living in Iowa’s dirt. That proud legacy is under attack as extreme weather profoundly affects the productivity of Iowa’s current farmers and of farmers to come. Climate change is wreaking havoc on my farm, my family members’ farms, and every farm in Iowa.

I’m shocked that the weather would change. Since the weather was always completely predictable during the past 4.5 billion years, it must be because some farmer is driving a fossil fueled pickup along with other fossil fueled machines.

This year ushered in a new level of extreme weather. We had the worst blizzard on our farm in two years during a May 4 snowstorm, a foot of heavy, wet snow and 36 hours without power. I remember thinking; I suppose there’s someplace in the world where you can listen to frogs in the snow, but it shouldn’t be happening in Iowa. Climate change means the wrong weather at the wrong time.

Um, wait, so heavy and late snow is caused by warming? This is exactly why you Warmists are bat guano crazy.

On Comment Count Being Wrong

Many of you have noticed that sometimes the comment count can be off. For instance, on either the main page or in single post it might say “5” but there might be one or none. It’s been a bane for me for years. The count is including all those comments in the spam cue. I’ve tried this and that and something else many times to fix it, but, no dice.

I was trying again this morning, and gave up after starting a help post at the WordPress.org forums. Since I was doing admin stuff, I decided to deactivate the threaded comments plugins and activate the WP included capability. Interestingly, when I deactivated one, Yet Another Threaded Comments Plugin, the issue immediately stopped. So the counts should show correctly now.

Unfortunately, threaded comments doesn’t seem to work. Maybe if I leave it active and update to WP 3.7.1, but, eh, no one really used them in the first place except me now and then. However, I did leave Brian’s Threaded Comments active. It’s easier than adding a bunch of code to the original code for the comments (dot) php file that came with the Violator theme. Said code controls showing the trackbacks/pingbacks separately right before the comments on a single post page.

The BTC plugin no longer actually works for threaded comments, creator stopped updating it years ago, and I think it was the WP update to 3.0 that caused it to no longer thread. Hence the use of the “Yet Another” plugin.

Furthermore, without BTC the Gigya plugin wouldn’t work correctly. Those are the buttons above the comments which allow you to login to post using various methods like Twitter, Facebook, etc. Can make commenting easier in terms of not having to re-enter info (though you should be able to double click in a box like “name” to bring up your info).

Anyhow, if anyone sees anything funky, let me know. Seems fine in Firefox and Opera for me, both logged in and logged out.

Interestingly, the page also seems to be loading just a bit faster with that plugin turned off.

And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Tarnished Nobel Prize: Obama Accused Of Crimes Against Humanity In International Criminal Court

Don’t these people know that Obama was just trying to make their lives better using college bull-session and community organizing inspired notions?

(Daily Caller) President Obama has been accused of crimes against humanity in a new complaint submitted to the International Criminal Court, based in the Hague.

Obama’s support for Egypt’s recently deposed Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated governing party forms the basis of the complaint filed against him by a group of Egyptian lawyers.

“Obama cooperated, incited, and assisted the armed elements of the Muslim Brotherhood in the commission of crimes against humanity in the period from 3/7/2013-8/18/2013, in the Arab Republic of Egypt,” according to the complaint, which was reported on by Egypt’s El Watan newspaper. (snip)

“Above and beyond the accusations of crimes against humanity that the lawyer-drafted complaint cited by El Watan levels against the Brotherhood, one need only look to the fate of Egypt’s Christian minority, who were especially targeted by the Muslim Brotherhood—and thus, by extension, their supporter, Obama—to see numerous examples of nearly every aforementioned definition of crimes against humanity,” wrote Egyptian-American writer Raymond Ibrahim.

On one hand, Obama is getting the Bush treatment. On the other, did Bush ever offer support of a regime that was completely brutal and engaged in terrorizing and controlling a population? One could make a case for this regarding Pakistani leader Gen. Pervez Musharraf, or perhaps Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzi. Neither was exactly a Boy Scout. Yet, were they committing “crimes against humanity” like Morsi and his ilk?

The complaint notes that Obama was an accomplice to what the Muslim Brotherhood did. Raymond Ibrahim, from above link, notes

..the complaint shows how Muslim Brotherhood leadership violated some of the above definitions, for example, by torturing, mutilating, raping, and killing Egyptians in their “sit in” camps (first reported here), with a highlight on the role the Brotherhood played in inciting violence and the killing of peaceful protesters around Itthadiya Palace back in December.

Among many others to be murdered in response to Brotherhood-incitement against the Copts, a ten-year-old girl was shot and killed while walking back from Bible class.  In the Sinai, a young Coptic priest was shot dead in front of his church, while the body of another Copt was found mutilated and beheaded.  Four other Christians were slaughtered by Muslims in Luxor province.  Most recently, a church wedding was attacked, leaving, among others, two girls, aged eight and twelve, dead and riddled with bullets.

He notes religious persecution and apartheid, as well as many other crimes included under the Statute of the ICC. Make sure to read the whole thing.

On one hand, this is entirely correct. On the other, most US presidents and 1st world leaders, now and past, could probably be charged under these terms as accessories to the charges. Either way, Obama’s Nobel Prize is looking a bit tarnished.

NOAA Provides Visuals Of Climate Doooooom!

It’s like they aren’t even aware of the 17 year pause or something, but this gives The Atlantic’s John Metcalfe a thrilling up his leg

Weather geeks, say goodbye to your morning productivity. The data conjurers at NOAA have rolled their latest environmental visualization out of the hanger, and it is bursting with every possible thing you’d want to know about the planet’s health, from past to present to worrisome future.

Want to know what the clouds like looked during your city’s last nasty storm? The “NOAA View” portal has crisp satellite images stretching 5 years back. Curious where snow and ice have accumulated this year? The frozen stuff is splashed about the globe like splattered white frosting. How hot will the weather soon be if humanity doesn’t rein in its emissions? One of the several simulations crammed into this Swiss Army climate tool has this prediction: It will be blastedly warm, despite our best attempts to stop burning fossil fuels.

Here’s two visualizations Metcalfe took from NOAA

The top one is them looking into a scrying pool to forecast the global temp in 2100 under a “low emissions” scenario. For the bottom one, Matcalfe writes “And the world is positively choking in torrid air by 2100 under a “very-high emissions scenario”. Huh. Torrid air. But don’t say Warmists aren’t hysterical fools who used to be the crazies standing on street corners hold apocalypse signs.

And the doom keeps going on and on. From the NOAA website

The NOAA View imagery portal provides a single point for experiencing NOAA data from satellites, models, and in-situ analyses. The site allows for seamless browse, animate, and download capability of high resolution images and Google Earth formatted files. With over 60 datasets (and growing) that go as far back as 1880 and out to 2100, NOAA View provides the ability to see our dynamic planet and how it changes over weeks, months, years and even decades.

These are the same people who wouldn’t be able to predict the weather with 100% accuracy out to 10 days, and they’re going to tell us the climate in 2100? Good grief. They’re simply making up data, which is not science.

Healthcare.fail VS WWII

I heard this one on Brett Baiers show yesterday, I believe it was, and figured it must be some sort of viral email going around. Yup, a friend forwarded it to me today, turned it into a graphic

BTW, yet another supporter of Obama and the “Affordable” Care Act is shocked to learn that the ACA negatively effects themselves. A big champion of the ACA, Cathy Wagner, along with her husband, say their insurance in Colorado cancelled, and

“I was really shocked … all of my hopes were sort of dashed,” Wagner said. “’Oh my gosh President Obama, this is not what we hoped for, it’s not what we were told.’ “

She was shocked further to learn that for the same coverage she would pay 35 percent more and have a higher deductible.

Their premium is going up by $1,000 a month.

“This is yet the most recent issue,” said U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colorado.

DeGette sits on the committee that oversees Obamacare. She insists the Wagners are the exception, not the rule.

Funny how all we hear about are “exceptions”. Where are the “rules”? Anyhow, Vox Popoli writes something similar to what I’ve mentioned before

I have absolutely no sympathy for these idiots. Absolutely none at all. Go cry a freaking river, along with the Ann Althouses, David Brooks and Peggy Noonans of the world, all of whom bought into the idea that the Detroit model would be a good one for America

Funny how liberals are the first to truly whine over the laws they want passed. They always think the negative effects will apply to Someone Else.

The Lonely Conservative has some Saturday Obamacare Funnies.

Obama Grasps For Some Sort Of Hotcoldwetdry Legacy

With everything else burning down around his ears, he’ll try a different route

(The Hill) President Obama has a chance to craft a second-term legacy on climate change even as the rest of his agenda runs aground in Congress.

Gun control legislation is dead; immigration reform is on life support; and reaching a fiscal deal with Republicans appears to be a long shot.

To make matters worse, what was supposed to be his signature first-term achievement — ObamaCare — is suffering from a disastrous rollout.

How will Obama be remembered? That’s for historians and Americans to determine in years to come, but it will be about pushing a law that Americans hate and has damaged our economy, all while tens of millions lose their health insurance plans. And economy that sputtered throughout at least his first 5 years. Benghazi. Fast and Furious. Vastly expanding the NSA spying on Americans. IRS targeting political opponents. The most partisan and nasty president ever.

But there’s one thing that’s going right for Obama: Executive action on climate change is moving full-speed ahead at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

“He may be able to do more through climate change [rules] because the EPA has the authority,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) told The Hill on Thursday.

The thing about rules and regulations crafted by executive action is that they can be reversed at the drop of a hat by future administrations. They can be challenged in court. And some end as soon as the president leaves office. For instance, the executive order Obama issued regarding illegal immigrants not being deported ends the minute he is out of office.

“There are limits to what it will mean to his presidency,” said Zelizer, who teaches history and public affairs.

One problem facing Obama is that some of the new EPA regulations might not be settled by the time he leaves office.

Companies will file lawsuit after lawsuit against these intrusive and harmful rules, hoping that someone with a better grasp of reality will be elected in 2016.

Pew Research Center polling conducted in mid-October showed that 67 percent of adult U.S. residents say there’s solid evidence of global warming, a figure that Pew notes has “changed little in the past few years.”

Just 44 percent say it’s mostly caused by human activity. That’s in sharp contrast to the scientific consensus that the earth is warming and that burning oil and coal and other human actions are the major driver of it.

The problem with the poll is it doesn’t take into account how much of the warming has been caused by Mankind. I maintain that Man does have a small effect on warming, mostly through agriculture, landfills, land use, and the Urban Heat Island Effect. Those last two are not global, but localized, though they give the appearance of global. And since Warmists refuse to make drastic changes within their own lives, it would seem they do not believe much, either. Obama has the largest “carbon footprint” in the world, at a calculated 41,000 metric tons. The average American’s CF is around 19mts. “Climate Change” is about instituting more and more Big Government authoritarian controls. Period.

Say, How’s That ACA Enrollment Working In North Carolina?

In a word, “rocky”

Rocky Start For North Carolina Health Care Exchanges

North Carolina’s largest insurer is having its share of problems with the Obamacare website.

Internal emails obtained by WNCN-TV show that Blue Cross Blue Shield show that only 1,000 people had filled out applications as of October 15th.

In fact, only one person was able to successfully use Healthcare.gov to enroll in the new exchange.

Well, hey, at least there’s one. That’s better than Delaware, which has zero so far.

But even that single person has not paid, which means the enrollment is not complete.

Obviously, this must be the fault of those dastardly Republicans who voted 100% against this law. If only they had supported the law that they utterly loathed, maybe that one person might have paid.

The Lonely Conservative points out that the D.C. Exchange has had a whopping 5 enrollees who’ve paid. But, as CheerTeam Obama says, they’re starting slow but their really going to pick up steam. You know, like the economy.

Meanwhile, Obama is thinking about making “administrative” fixes to the ACA, but the media meme is that he has few options

President Barack Obama says he’ll do everything he can to help people coping with health insurance cancellations, but legally and practically his options appear limited.

That means the latest political problem engulfing Obama’s health care overhaul may not be resolved quickly, cleanly or completely.

Which is interesting due to the fact that the actual law leaves enormous discretion in crafting the actual rules of Obamacare. Did you know there is no actual requirement for contraception, sterilization, nor abortifacients within the text of the law? Section 1302 deals with the required coverages. Maternity coverage, yes. Nothing about condoms or birth control pills.

There are lots and lots of things that can be changed because HHS was given the authority to craft the rules. Like, um, the date. Section 1251

(2) CONTINUATION OF COVERAGE- With respect to a group health plan or health insurance coverage in which an individual was enrolled on the date of enactment of this Act, this subtitle and subtitle A (and the amendments made by such subtitles) shall not apply to such plan or coverage, regardless of whether the individual renews such coverage after such date of enactment.

It was left to HHS to define renewal and coverage. They decided to define it very narrowly. Renewals usually include small, and sometimes big, changes. But a person or group would be renewing that plan.  Obama’s HHS crafted rules making this darn near impossible. On purpose. To make sure plans were cancelled in order to drive people to the Exchanges and Medicaid.
