Bummer: Almost Double Believe In Jesus’ Virgin Birth Than Human Caused Climate Change

People believe in a lot of things, some of which are real, some of which aren’t. More people believe Satan causes real world problems, ghosts exist, and in UFOs than “climate change”. More Americans believe in angels than “climate change”. This makes Warmists very upset, because they have invested countless hours over the past 20+ years “spreading awareness” about their little cult of man-caused Hotcoldwetdry

(Time) More Americans believe the Christmas story is historically accurate than believe in climate change.

According to a new Pew Survey of over 1,500 U.S. adults, 73% say they believe Jesus was born to a virgin, and 74% say they believe Jesus’s birth was announced to the shepherds by an angel (among Protestant respondents, that rate is 91% and 90%, respectively). 78% of women say they believe in the virgin birth, 65% of the respondents said they believe all elements of the Christmas story are factually true.

By contrast, a Pew study of from January found that only 61% of Americans think that climate change is happening, and only 40% believe it’s caused by human behavior. Which means that almost twice as many Americans believe in the virgin birth as believe in human-induced global warming.

Well, that’ll leave a mark. An event from over 2,000 years ago that cannot be proven or disproven beats out a modern issue that cannot actually be proven but has been pushed non-stop in countless ways.

Federal Court: Yeah, Obama’s Immigration Plan Is Rather Unconsitutional

The hell you say!

(Washington Post) Earlier Tuesday, a federal court in Pennsylvania declared aspects of President Obama’s executive actions on immigration policy unconstitutional.

According to the opinion by Judge Arthur Schwab, the president’s policy goes “beyond prosecutorial discretion” in that it provides a relatively rigid framework for considering applications for deferred action, thus obviating any meaningful case-by-case determination as prosecutorial discretion requires, and provides substantive rights to applicable individuals.  As a consequence,  Schwab concluded, the action exceeds the scope of executive authority.

The opinion is posted here.

One of the interesting things about the decision is noted by Noah Rothman, in which Judge Schwab compares this to a president deferring tax collection. As he writes, if a president decides that the capital gains rate should be 15%, and Congress refuses to take action to lower it from 20%, would it be Constitutional for said POTUS to tell people to only pay 15%, and to defer prosecution for those who do not pay the 20%? All while demanding that Congress pass legislation to make the rate 15%?

Warmist Naomi Klein Links #BlackLivesMatter To “Climate Change”

Sadly, this kind of linking behavior by Warmists, this kind of hijacking, doesn’t even earn a “WTF!!!!?” anymore. It’s expected, hence the facepalms

Why #BlackLivesMatter Should Transform the Climate Debate
What would governments do if black and brown lives counted as much as white lives?

What does #BlackLivesMatter, and the unshakable moral principle that it represents, have to do with climate change? Everything. Because we can be quite sure that if wealthy white Americans had been the ones left without food and water for days in a giant sports stadium after Hurricane Katrina, even George W. Bush would have gotten serious about climate change. Similarly, if Australia were at risk of disappearing, and not large parts of Bangladesh, Prime Minister Tony Abbott would be a lot less likely to publicly celebrate the burning of coal as “good for humanity,” as he did on the occasion of the opening of a vast new coal mine. And if my own city of Toronto were being battered, year after year, by historic typhoons demanding mass evacuations, and not Tacloban in the Philippines, we can also be sure that Canada would not have made building tar sands pipelines the centerpiece of its foreign policy.

It’s everything, folks! Everything! But, wait, it gets even better, if that’s possible!

The reality of an economic order built on white supremacy is the whispered subtext of our entire response to the climate crisis, and it badly needs to be dragged into the light. I recently had occasion to meet a leading Belgian meteorologist who makes a point of speaking about climate change in her weather reports. But, she told me, her viewers remain unmoved. “People here think that with global warming, the weather in Brussels will be more like Bordeaux—and they are happy about that.” On one level, that’s understandable, particularly as temperatures drop in northern countries. But global warming won’t just make Brussels more like Bordeaux, it will make Haiti more like Hades. And it’s not possible to be cheerful about the former without, at the very least, being actively indifferent to the latter.

So, if you don’t believe in Hotcoldwetdry, and refuse to do something about, particularly forcibly taking citizen money in 1st World Nations and redistributing it to 3rd world shitholes developing nations, you’re a white supremacist. If you refuse to see economies transformed and capitalism done away with, you’re a white supremacist.

Hmmm. Klein seems to be calling Warmists racists and white supremacists because of the way in which the 1st World Warmists have refused to hook up the developing nations, which are mostly comprised of Blacks, Browns, and small island folks with Asian backgrounds. She goes on to link storms and energy, shootings and dilapidated conditions to “climate change” and racism. You really have to read the whole thing, well worth it

Taken together, the picture is clear. Thinly veiled notions of racial superiority have informed every aspect of the non-response to climate change so far. Racism is what has made it possible to systematically look away from the climate threat for more than two decades. It is also what has allowed the worst health impacts of digging up, processing and burning fossil fuels—from cancer clusters to asthma—to be systematically dumped on indigenous communities and on the neighborhoods where people of colour live, work and play. The South Bronx, to cite just one example, has notoriously high asthma rates—and according to one study, a staggering 21.8 percent of children living in New York City public housing have asthma, three times higher than the rate for private housing. The choking of those children is not as immediately lethal as the kind of choking that stole Eric Garner’s life, but it is very real nonetheless.

The interesting part is that most, if not all, of this all occurs in deep Liberal areas. Cities are not hotbeds of Conservatism. Nor are the yearly IPCC Conference on the Parties taxpayer funded working vacations, nor other “climate change” meetings. The conditions in the cities are solely the responsibility of Leftists, along with certain States and most European nations.

If we refuse to speak frankly about the intersection of race and climate change, we can be sure that racism will continue to inform how the governments of industrialized countries respond to this existential crisis. It will manifest in the continued refusal to provide serious climate financing to poor countries so they can protect themselves from heavy weather. It will manifest in the fortressing of wealthy continents as they attempt to lock out the growing numbers of people whose homes will become unlivable.

Which, again, is interesting, since Warmists are the ones who call for all sorts of different population control methods in areas like Africa, ranging from birth control to abortions to, from the really hardcore Warmists, sterilization and actual population reduction.

At the same time, the clarion call that Black Lives Matter deserves to transform how we approach a great many crises in our societies, from school systems that systematically fail African-American kids, to a healthcare system that too often discards black lives. It must also jolt us out of our climate inaction.

I wonder how all the folks pushing #BlackLivesMatter feel about their movement, such as it is with riots, looting, arson, blocking ambulances, etc, being hijacked?

Taliban Animals Kill 126 At Pakistani School

While Democrats here in the US and other liberals around the world have been wringing their hands and getting the vapors over the CIA enhanced interrogation program, hardcore Islamists have been doing what they do: kill people in gruesome ways. ISIS beheads people, including Americans. And the Taliban….

(NY Times) In one of Pakistan’s bloodiest attacks in recent years, scores of people were killed after a group of Taliban gunmen stormed a school in northern Pakistan, officials and rescue workers said on Tuesday. Hundreds of students remained trapped inside the compound as security forces exchanged fire with the gunmen, officials said.

The toll of dead and injured remained uncertain, but the local news media, citing government officials and hospitals, reported 126 dead, more than 100 of them children. The army press office announced that five attackers had been killed.

The siege started Tuesday morning around 10 a.m. when at least five to six heavily armed Taliban gunmen entered Army Public School and Degree College in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. According to initial reports, the gunmen opened fire on students and have taken dozens of them as hostages. Some students managed to escape the school compound, the local news media reported.

This is the same Taliban that Team Obama would like to negotiate with. I wonder how Liberals will spin this event to blame America?

On the bright side, the lunatics at Vox think it’s bigoted and Islamophobic to ask Muslims to condemn Islamic terrorism, in relation to the Sydney attack.

It is time for that ritual to end: non-Muslims in all countries, and today especially those in Australia, should finally take on the correct assumption that Muslims hate terrorism just as much as they do, and cease expecting Muslims to prove their innocence just because of their faith.

Do they?

Obama’s Politicized DOJ Wants Immigration Lawsuit Dismissed

It would be wrong to term the Obama/Holder Department of Justice as “lawless”, as many have. It’s just that they pick and choose which laws they will uphold. For instance, they are all for refusing to uphold our immigration laws

(AP) The Obama administration is urging dismissal of a lawsuit that would dismantle the president’s immigration program, an initiative designed to spare nearly 5 million people in the U.S. illegally from deportation.

The case was brought by an Arizona sheriff, Joe Arpaio, who contends that President Barack Obama’s program serves as a magnet for more illegal entries into the U.S. Arpaio says the new arrivals will commit crimes and thus burden his law enforcement resources.

In a court filing late Monday, the Justice Department told U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell that the sheriff’s theory is speculative and unsubstantiated and that Arpaio has failed to show he will suffer any injury at all from the federal government’s program.

The sheriff’s challenge to the federal program is “meritless,” the Justice Department said in its court filing.

Except, every time there has been a relaxing of the rules, illegal immigrant crossings have increased. More overstay their visas. More fly in and disappear into the country.

The Justice Department said the federal program “does not grant legal status to any alien. Rather, it authorizes a temporary exercise of prosecutorial discretion on a case-by-case basis for certain individuals who have been in the United States since 2010 and have deep ties to the community.”

A complete load of legalese mule fritters. It does, in fact, grant legal status to roughly 5 million illegal aliens

(USA Today) The president will protect about 5 million undocumented immigrants from deportations. They will not get U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residence, known as a green cards. But they will be able to live in the United States without fear of deportation, get a work permit and a Social Security number. They will also be able to travel freely back and forth to their home country.

Simply giving these people who broke our immigration laws, either by coming across the border illegally or overstaying their visas, work permits and Social Security numbers means they have legal status.  All the so-called Dreamers are being given similar legal status. Once they’ve had this status for a few years, how do you pull that status away without Democrats, the leftist media, and illegal alien activists going bat guano insane? Furthermore, as soon as they are given these work permits and SS numbers, the same Dems, media, and activists will immediately push for a stronger version, namely green cards or citizenship. Especially wanting to extend voting rights and the ability to join in on all the free money and services the federal government offers.

Study: Soft Corals May Survive Hotcoldwetdry

Who woulda thunk it?

New study shows South Florida soft corals may withstand climate change

As the oceans absorb more carbon on a planet increasingly choked by greenhouse gases, scientists worry its reefs — the great storm-deflecting rampart for much of the tropics — will crumble and fall.

But for the first time, a new study by the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science and a team of international scientists has found that at least one soft coral, the shrub-like sea rod found throughout South Florida, the Gulf of Mexico and the Bahamas, is more resilient to ocean acidification fueled by carbon than previously thought. Unlike hard corals and other marine animals with shells that need less acidic water to build calcified skins, corals with interior skeletons like the sea rod can survive.

Here’s the thing: corals and other sea creatures developed when the Earth was warmer and the seas were much higher. How do these “scientists”, meaning alarmists, explain all the coral atolls and islands? How do they they explain corals and similar sea life that now are above the ocean line? Oh, wait, sorry, I’m not supposed to ask inconvenient questions, much like during the Spanish Inquisition.

“We had thought this coral was on the front line,” said co-author Chris Langdon, director of Rosenstiel’s Coral Reefs and Climate Change Laboratory. “It’s reasonable to think this will [apply] to a lot of other things.”

The hell you say! It’s funny how we keep finding out that life adapts and things aren’t as dire as Warmists prognosticate.

BTW, paper after paper after paper after paper debunks the ocean acidification scare. As does the history of the planet.

NY Times Wonders If It’s Bad Enough For Ya

More navel gazing,  generalized hatred of police, and denigration of America

(NY Times) THE police killing unarmed civilians. Horrifying income inequality. Rotting infrastructure and an unsafe “safety net.” An inability to respond to climate, public health and environmental threats. A food system that causes disease. An occasionally dysfunctional and even cruel government. A sizable segment of the population excluded from work and subject to near-random incarceration.

You get it: This is the United States, which, with the incoming Congress, might actually get worse.

So,  let me get this straight: things suck big time under Comrade Obama, who’s had a friendly Senate his entire time in office (and Dems had same Senate since 2007), and had the House his first 2 years. Big Government keeps getting bigger and more intrusive. More domineering. More controlling. More tyrannical. Exactly as Progressives want. And we see that with this Progressivism things Don’t Work Well. But, somehow, they might get worse when the Party that wants to reduce the size and scope of government takes over the Senate?

Everything affects everything. It’s all tied together, and the starting place hardly matters: A just and righteous system will have a positive impact on everything we care about, just as an unjust, exploitative system makes everything worse.

Of course,  Progressives have very different opinions of that. And we’re seeing the results. Michael Walsh notes that the article is “also a handy guide to every left-liberal cause du jour, a primal scream of hate against the society that continues to frustrate the Left with its stubborn moral rejection of their Marxist principles”.

What Say To “Climate Change” Christmas Carols?

Warmists can’t help themselves. They have to interject themselves and their insane non-science cult into everything. This bit of nutbaggery comes from the New Yorker. Here’s a sampling

OH, THE WEATHER outside is frightful,
The heat wave brutal and spiteful.
Our crops have no water to grow—
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Looks like the heat wave ain’t stoppin’,
Our dust-storm coughs are a-whoppin’.
All fish went extinct long ago—
For the love of sweet Christ, let it snow!

And

CHESTNUTS ROASTING on an open fire,
Cars and houses roasting, too.
Our whole city is an open pyre—
Put those chestnuts away, we have to leave now.

Oh, and here’s another great Christmas song

I HAVE A little dreidel,
I made it out of clay.
And when it’s dry and ready,
Oh, dreidel, I will pray—
That I can barter you for enough cans of soup to last me through the tornado.

Wait, what? Christmas carol?
