Hillary Supporters Give Marching Orders To Media On What Language Is “Sexist”

You can bet the majority of the media will listen

(Daily Caller)  Do you work in the media and have the gall to think that the entire Webster’s dictionary is at your disposal? Think again, you sexist.

When it comes to reporting on Hillary Clinton, George Carlin’s “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” have turned into “Twelve Words You Can Never Say About a Powerful Politician.”

“We will be watching, reading, listening and protesting coded sexism,” the pro-Hillary group HRC Super Volunteers warned The New York Times’ Amy Chozick Wednesday.

The words/phrase are:

The liberal left, Progressives, who Jonah Goldberg referred to as “nice fascists”, have two main weapons in their arsenal: fear and shame. They start with shame, and they make sure that shame is public. And the shaming will continue to escalate. They balance this with risk/reward. The risk is that they will continue to come after you, will attempt to destroy your personal and work life, which creates fear. The reward is that you might get a pat on the head for staying with Approved Progressive Doctrine, but the fear is always hiding around the corner. Because it doesn’t matter if your were right: there are no apologies in Liberal World, and you are always on notice. Shame is a powerful motivator, especially when backed by Fear.

In this case, they are attempting to shame Ms. Chozick, who they know will share the information (and I’d bet quite a few other reporters and media outlets received the same email), into compliance, using fear as their backstop. There’s a saying that “he who controls the language controls the debate”. There’s another that goes “he who controls the language controls the masses.” That’s Saul Alinsky. Language is controlled to elicit shame and fear, whether it be racism, Islamophia, you name it. In this case, dog whistle language for “sexism.” Because Hillary Must Not Be Questioned.

Pirate’s Cove Makes Newsmax Top 50 Blogs

Along with some good blog friends, thanks to Theodore Kettle

Newsmax’s Top 50 Conservative Blogs of 2015

…..

Conservative blogs have electrified our 223-year old First Amendment like nothing the Founding Fathers could ever have foreseen. Here are the top 50 conservative blogs:

27. Pirate’s Cove – Blogmeister “William Teach” uses pinup photos to lure readers in, and there’s no shortage of amusement here, like his long “Things I do not understand” list, beginning with “Women” and “Putting a turn signal on after using the brakes.” But it’s mostly daily doses of concerned commentary about government mischief, especially on global warming. Teach recently made fun of Al Roker telling Larry King, “You can’t point to any one event” after blaming “climate change” for Boston’s recent mega-blizzard. Warmists use every occasion to say “Mankind is mostly/solely responsible for the changes, all while refusing to give up their big ‘carbon footprints,’” Teach complains.

Also include are Sister Toldjah, Fausta’s Blog, House of Eratosthenes, Protein Wisdom, Maggie’s Farm, Jihad Watch, Legal Insurrection, The Other McCain, The Jawa Report, sites I frequently link to, along with many others. Unsurprisingly, Instapundit is #1.

Cult Of Climastrology: Climate Change Causing Fewer, But Bigger, Tornado Outbreaks

It’s always something with these folks. Much like with hurricanes, they told us that Hotcoldwetdry would create more tornado outbreaks. When that did not come to fruition, they decided to change the dynamic, proclaiming that there would be fewer tornadoes, but that they’d be stronger. Now they’ve changed the dynamic again, and it’s all your fault for refusing to give up your fossil fueled modern lifestyle. I bet you drove a vehicle to work and engaged in consumerism, possibly even using a hair dryer to day, didn’t you, you Gaia killing Evil Person!

Tornadoes are clustering in the US, and climate change may be to blame

If you’ve been keeping track of the news about tornado outbreaks in the US over the past few decades, you may have noticed a trend – fewer outbreaks, but at the same time each one appears to be worse than the last. According to a new report, it’s probably not your imagination. In fact, it could be due to climate change.

But, of course! Could this be possible? Well, sure. But, does it mean that it has to be anthropogenic causation? Not in the least. But, that’s is 100% what they mean. In fact, there have only been two years since 1950 with no tornadoes between March 1 to the 16th: 1969 and 2015. If you’ll remember, 1969 was in the depth of a slight cooling “pause” during the Modern Warm Period. In fact, the past three years have seen very low numbers of tornadoes. So, that would make the warming, whether it be natural, anthropogenic, or a mix, a good thing, right? Much like with the lower count of landfalling hurricanes.

One of the basic predictions coming out of climate science for years now is that we will be seeing an overall increase in the number of extreme weather events. This is not to say that the overall number of weather events is going to increase, just that the percentage of extreme weather events, compared to more ‘normal’ weather events, is going to get higher.

In other words, they’ve created a non-falsifiable argument in order to blame every weather event on “climate change”. So, I should blame climate change for the t-storm that rolled through Raleigh at 5am this morning, which woke me up, then made me think that I may have left my sunroof on tilt, causing me to get up, put on shoes and a raincoat, and go outside. Because I did. And, since I couldn’t get back to sleep, but rolled for a bit, I now have a crick in my neck. I blame Barack Obama’s prolific use of fossil fuels.

Now, a study by scientists from NOAA – the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – is showing evidence of this trend.

“When people ask, ‘Are we getting more tornadoes, are we getting fewer tornadoes, are they later, are they earlier?’ – the answer to everything is yes,” said Harold Brooks, the lead study author from NOAA’s Severe Storms Laboratory, according to Ecowatch.com.

Looking back at US weather records from 1964 to 2013, they found that while the average number of tornadoes per year reported across the country (excluding the weakest ones) wasn’t changing by much, the number of days that these tornadoes occurred on did change. It dropped, from 187 tornado days in 1970 to just 110 tornado days in 2011. This means that the tornadoes are being concentrated in fewer days, clustering together. According to the records, nine of those days in 2011 saw 30 tornadoes spawn each. Apparently, that’s the same number of 30+ tornado days that occurred in the 20 years between 1961-1981.

The study itself is somewhat circumspect about blaming “climate change”. Let’s switch to the Weather Channel

Now, the toughest question: Is climate change playing a role in the increasing variability of the nation’s tornadoes?

The short answer is, possibly.

The challenge in answering this question is linking short-fuse events like tornadoes and tornado outbreaks to long-term changes in atmospheric parameters generally conducive for severe thunderstorms, such as instability and wind shear.

Studies by Dr. Jeff Trapp and Dr. Noah Diffenbaugh, among others, suggest atmospheric instability, driven by increased moisture, is expected to be greater in a warming climate. However, wind shear, crucial for the formation of supercells which can produce the strongest tornadoes, may diminish overall, but may feature more days with higher wind shear.

The Cult Of Climastrology is desperate to continue validating their cultish beliefs, as well as keeping the money train going, all of which requires a constant change in talking points to match current weather conditions. And keeping the fear-mongering at the forefront. In the CoC’s world, this can only happen because of Mankind, and they want to force you to change your behavior, while they continue on with their own big carbon footprints without change.

Now we just await Warmists blaming yesterday’s tornadoes on “climate change”. Oh, wait

Team Obama Totally Geared Up For Massive PR Campaign Regarding Deal With Iran

Provided it, you know, actually happens. As there is a wide difference in what each side wants.

‘Distrust and Verify’: How Obama will sell an Iran deal to America, Congress and the world

The White House is gearing up to unleash an unprecedented campaign to sell a nuclear deal with Iran, should President Obama secure it, in a bid to win over divided Americans, skeptical lawmakers and wary Middle Eastern allies.

The blueprint for defending the legacy-defining agreement was described to Yahoo News by current and former officials from the administration and Congress.

Obama and his top national security and foreign policy aides will defend the deal forcefully to the public and in private talks with wavering senators and representatives. They will emphasize the deal’s intrusive monitoring and verification of Iranian nuclear facilities, an approach national security adviser Susan Rice recently summarized in a speech to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) as “distrust and verify.” They will defend the easing of crippling economic sanctions in return for steps Iran is taking to assure the world that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.

Lawmakers will get “as many classified briefings as it takes” from the administration on the more complex aspects of an agreement. Senior diplomats will fan out in an effort to reassure close allies like Saudi Arabia, Iran’s main rival for regional influence, and Israel, even though Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seen as an implacable foe of any agreement.

One has to wonder, if the deal is so good, what need is there for a massive PR campaign?

Obama’s approach will, at times, feel more like a sledgehammer than a scalpel — as demonstrated last Wednesday when the National Security Council forwarded the cartoon above to reporters who cover the White House. The drawing landed in reporters’ inboxes under the heading “Select Iran Coverage”; the special clips packages started landing in early March to promote media coverage and expert commentaries that advance the administration’s goals.

Cartoon, huh?

Nothing like insulting those you want to convince, eh?

Already the campaign is revving up. White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough delivered some of these arguments this week in a speech to J Street, a left-of-center group that supports the talks. The organization’s ideological rival, the AIPAC, opposes the negotiations.

If a deal is done, McDonough said, “Everyone from the president on down will aggressively seek congressional and public support for any deal.”

Of course, hardcore liberals will approve of the deal no matter what, so this is preaching to the snake handling disciples already. If this was looking to be a great deal, there would be no need for any PR blitz.  That there are already plans for one, including getting the other member nations involved….Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia…to win over “skeptics”, should tell you that this deal might have a few good points, but there are lots of bad points, much like with the way Democrats blitzed on Obamacare.

Obama’s Yemen Success Story: Yemen President Flees Home

Remember when Obama was touting Yemen as a success story? The collapse of that narrative continues

(Fox News) Yemen’s embattled president has reportedly fled his home in Aden Wednesday to an undisclosed location at Shiite rebels near his last refuge

Officials told The Associated Press about the president hours after the television station owned by the revels reported they seized an air base where U.S. troops and Europeans advised the country in its fight against Al Qaeda.

The air base is just 60 miles outside Aden. The port city is where President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi established a temporary capital.

Witnesses told the Associated Press they saw a convoy of presidential vehicles Wednesday leaving Hadi’s palace, located at the top of a hill in Aden overlooking the Arabian Sea.

And an update to the story (which I drafted before work this a.m., and has the wrong link in the first place, hence the reason for no link above)

(Fox News)  Yemeni security and port officials say that President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi has left the country by sea, on a boat from the port of Aden, as Shiite rebels and their allies advance on this southern city.

The officials told The Associated Press that Hadi left with his aides after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The entourage departed by two boats, under heavy security. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to reporters.

This is actually rather sad, but not unexpected. Obama has been good on going after Islamic jihadis, using drone strikes and special forces primarily, yet, his foreign policy has been chaotic and less than cogent. It more resembles that of a 3 year old, essentially living in the now, rather than planning ahead. Like most of the O policies. It’s like social media: what’s trending now.

That said, this can’t all be placed on the feckless policies of the Obama administration. We very much have to consider the continued rise of extremist Islamic groups and sentiment, which, yes, has been stoked very much within not just the Middle Eastern and other nations, but also by those within the governments and the ruling elites, often playing a two faced game. In reality, Obama could have been perfect on fighting Islamic terrorism, and this still could have happened. Yemen has long been a cesspool for Islamic radicalism.

Meanwhile, while I’m over at Fox

Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was taken captive by the Taliban after abandoning his post in Afghanistan and later freed in exchange for five Guantanamo detainees, will be charged with desertion, a senior U.S. official told Fox News.

Awesome. We gave away 5 hardcore Taliban members for this guy. As Allahpundit notes

I’m honestly surprised, not because the evidence against him is thin — ask any of the guys in his unit — but because this is so humiliating for the White House. Five Taliban degenerates in exchange for a guy who wandered away from the safety of his base, huh?

I wonder if the commander-in-chief, who thought that nutty prisoner swap was going to besome sort of political victory for him, is surprised too.

Obama will probably learn about it on the news.

Latest Warmist Freakout: Hotcoldwetdry Slowing Gulf Stream

We’re doomed or something

Global warming is now slowing down the circulation of the oceans — with potentially dire consequences

…this week brings news of another potential mega-scale perturbation. According to a new study just out in Nature Climate Change by Stefan Rahmstorf of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and a group of co-authors, we’re now seeing a slowdown of the great ocean circulation that, among other planetary roles, helps to partly drive the Gulf Stream off the U.S. east coast. The consequences could be dire – including significant extra sea level rise for coastal cities like New York and Boston.

There’s no point in reading the rest of the article, it’s exactly as doomy as you’d expect. Oh, and exactly as wrong as you’d expect, with Cult member Chris Mooney refusing to actually investigate the claim

(Breitbart) But the paper, whose co-authors include one Michael E Mann, appears to be contradicted by real-world evidence which shows nothing of the kind.

Here is what the leading expert in the field, H Thomas Rossby, a professor at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography said in 2014 about the Gulf Stream, which he has been measuring for the last 20 years.

“We find absolutely no evidence that suggests that the Gulf Stream is slowing down.”

Oops. Anthony Watts dives deep into the paper and notes (along with all the science)

Of course, Rahmstorf and Mann don’t list Rossby’s study in their references, nor seem to use the “highly accurate” ADCP data. Instead they use a model along with [proxies, reconstructions, and] the highly interpolated GISS data to come to the conclusions they want. So, it isn’t surprising they are chasing phantoms in their study. They claim (in Figure 1 from their paper) that this cold spot south of Greenland is caused by meltwater from Greenland and it is evidence of a slowed circulation:

This is the Cult of Climastrology at its best: fear mongering with anything but real data. Computer models, proxies, invented data, etc are the be all say all. If the thermometer says 65 and their models say 72, they’ll go with 72. This is all about politics, particularly the politics of fear. “Science” is a means to that fear. And it very much begs the question that should be on everyone’s minds, including CoC members: why do they lie to us like this?

People Super Enthused To Live In A Pre-electricity Time, At Least For One Hour

They’re super enthused in Spain

(Euro Weekly News) A total of 125 Spanish towns and cities have pledged to turn off the lights on emblematic buildings at the end of March to raise awareness about climate change, organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Will you be spending an hour in the dark?

Think about that. This is part of what the Cult Of Climastrology brings, living in the dark thanks to CoC energy policies.

Paul Ross of Paul Ross Fitness in Huercal Overa, Almeria, said: “This is the first I have heard about it, to be honest, so I hadn’t planned to sit in the dark. However, if these cities and other places get involved, especially if they all light candles like they did recently in Mojacar, then it could have a massive positive impact. We do what we can to look after the planet. We recycle all our water for watering outside and call it ‘watering the desert’.”

I don’t want to pick on Paul, let’s just note the part about, essentially, sitting in the dark with lit candles, like it’s 1200 AD.

When It Comes To “Climate Change”, We Must Follow The Road Called Hope Or Something

There’s a very interesting, and unintentionally ironic, reference within this article at The Nation by Cult of Climastrology member Rebecca Solnit

The Most Important Thing We Can Do to Fight Climate Change Is Try
The future will follow an unpredictable route, but we must still follow a compass called hope.

Of course, by “try”, she and other Warmists mean forcing Other People to comply with the CoC’s unhinged requirements, something Warmists refuse to do themselves.

Most forecasts of the future presume that something in the present will continue to grow and increase its power or influence. It’s as simple as doing a math problem on compounding interest or multiplication tables.

Orwell did this intentionally in 1984, creating the vision of a postwar Stalinist Britain circa 1948 that was taken to its absurd and appalling conclusion. Less imaginative people, however, genuinely believe that history moves in a straight line. Alarm about the “population bomb” arose from the assumption that women would continue to have babies at the rate they were worldwide in the 1960s. But thanks to reproductive rights and other factors, birthrates have plummeted so dramatically that some nations, from Germany to Japan, are now worried about a steep population decline.

Wikipedia’s opening blurb on 1984

Nineteen Eighty-Four, sometimes published as 1984, is a dystopian novel by English author George Orwell published in 1949.[1][2] The novel is set in Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance and public manipulation, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (or Ingsoc in the government’s invented language, Newspeak) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite, that persecutes individualism and independent thinking as “thoughtcrimes”.

Other than the perpetual war part, the rest is very much the type of governmental system that Progressives are shooting for, and the CoC is very much a part of the Progressive program. Call them socialists, Marxists, Leftists, whatever, the Far Left wants that big, domineering type of governmental system, one where all aspects of life are controlled. Climate change is about control, about big centralized government. Divergent thought and opinions are not allowed.

The same is true of the younger divestment movement as it spreads even farther around the world. Hundreds of investment portfolios, from college endowments and pension funds to church holdings, have been divested of their fossil-fuel stocks—but that’s far from the only thing the divestment movement has done. Like the resistance to Keystone, the movement has called attention to the broader issue of climate; generated activism and networks, particularly around universities; and shed considerable light on the financial risk of investing in what is now called “the carbon bubble.” With this, it has become possible to see not only that we live in the Age of Fossil Fuel, but that this age is coming to an end.

Yet, these same people refuse themselves to give up their use of fossil fuels. Divestment is a requirement for Someone Else, simply an exercise in forcing compliance.

Among our few certainties about the future are the following: climate change is here, it will get worse, and it is essentially irreversible. What’s uncertain is whether, through extraordinary effort, we will meet the crisis as we should, with a speedy exit from the Age of Fossil Fuel, or whether that age will drag on and foreclose the possibility of our choosing the least rather than the most terrible future. We are now essentially hostages to the small group of people who benefit most from the fossil-fuel industries, as well as the politicians in their pay—although remarkable victories have been won against them in recent years, from Ecuador to Nigeria to New York State.

Au contraire. Said group is anything but small, since most people who are agitating against fossil fuels are consumers of the same. Personally, I’m all for replacing fossil fuels with truly cleaner alternatives that provide the same power for the same or lower cost. The environmental damage is real. Climate change caused mostly/solely by Mankind is not. What the Cult of Climastrology is advocating is, again, compliance with their pseudo-religious tenants while refusing themselves to eliminate fossil fuels from their own lives.

The world of 2115 is unimaginable, and so is the road there. That world may be better than we can now imagine, and in some ways—ecological ones—it may be worse. It may have corrected oppressions we do not yet recognize. But if we are clear about our lack of knowledge, we can move forward, acting on what we believe. The theologian Walter Brueggemann writes, “Memory produces hope in the same way that amnesia produces despair.” Memory itself is a subjective thing. We can tell of a past that was nothing but defeats and cruelties and injustices; or we can tell of a lovely golden age now irretrievably lost; or we can tell a more complicated and accurate story—one that has room for the best and the worst, for atrocities and liberations. A memory commensurate to the complexity of the past produces hope.

What is being done in much of the article is mixing Leftist tropes with “climate change”, as the two are entirely connected, being part of how Leftists get to their Progressive utopia. In 2115, people will either be living in a world that laughs about what rubes and fools people were when it came to the hysteria of “climate change”, or it will be a sullen world of Progressive ideals, where freedom is limited and thought crimes rampant, George Orwell’s book come true.

BTW, include in the article is this painting by Eric Drooker

Open spaces look very appealing in the CoC’s world, eh?

As Obama Rushes To Nuclear Deal With Iran, Iran Refuses To Provide Information

As the sands of time run down on the Obama administration, he and his peeps are dead set on creating a deal with Iran, any deal, doesn’t matter what. They’re working hard to cement Obama in the same mold of foreign policy incompetence as Jimmy Carter and Neville Chamberlain

(Washington Post) The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency said that Iran has failed to provide the information or access needed to allay the agency’s concerns about the weapons potential of the country’s nuclear program.

With the deadline nearing for international talks on constraining Iran’s nuclear program, Yukiya Amano, director general of the IAEA, said in an interview that Iran has replied to just one of a dozen queries about “possible military dimensions” of past nuclear activities.

Amano said that Iran has provided only “very limited” information about two other issues, while the rest have not been addressed at all.

Is it any wonder that the White House will not promise to let people know the details before it is signed?

(Weekly Standard) In an interview this evening on Fox News, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki would not promise that Americans would get to see the details of a nuclear deal with Iran before it’s “signed, sealed, delivered.”

Fox host Greta Van Susteren asked, “When there is a proposed deal, will the American people get sort of a real strong briefing on it before it’s actually signed, sealed, and delivered so that we can have our thought whether it’s a good deal, bad deal, so we can have some input? Or is this going to be signed and then we are going to hear about it?”

“Well, I think it’s not about it signed — it’s negotiated between countries and it’s negotiated between leaders of countries. That’s traditionally and historically how international negotiations have worked,” said Psaki.

In other words, the American public can piss off, because the Obama administration will be as secretive as usual. We’ll be lucky if Congress is informed. More likely, the deal will be leaked to a foreign news outlet from one of the negotiating partners. Team Obama, which blew off the Iranian green uprising, seems to really be enthralled by the hardcore Iranian regime

(Breitbart) On Monday, the White House dismissed Ayatollah Khamenei’s “Death to America” rhetoric, telling CNN that it was “intended for a domestic political audience.” That comment came on the heels of White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest explaining that such rhetoric provided even more reason for negotiating a deal with the Iranian regime.

At the same time that the White House essentially blew off Ayatollah Khamenei’s “Death to America” routine, the White House deliberately misinterpreted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments the day before and the day of his re-election in Israel. Apparently the things said during an election do not constitute electioneering; the things said in a country that has not had free elections for three decades constitute electioneering. Welcome to the delusional anti-Semitic world of the Obama administration, where Palestinian diplomats can refuse to disassociate from Hamas, and Iran can openly embrace the destruction of America and Israel, but it’s the Jews who need to be clubbed into line.

Obama embraces enemies and, at best, dismisses allies. If this coming deal with Iran was so great, information might be shared. That it is being kept relatively secret, without even briefings of Congress, should say quite a bit. Fortunately, it will have no force of law past Obama’s time in office.
