Gotta love when Democrats simply decide to change the law
(Daily Caller)  Virginia’s Democrat Attorney General announced Tuesday that the state will no longer honor reciprocity privileges for out-of-state concealed carry permit holders from 25 other states.
Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring made the announcement Tuesday after a months-long audit of reciprocating states that found the states’ concealed carry qualifications didn’t meet the minimum requirements in Virginia, the Richmond Times Dispatch reports.
The audit, conducted jointly by the attorney general’s office and the Virginia State Police, found that the requirements to acquire a concealed carry permit in 25 of the 30 states currently recognized by Virginia weren’t strong enough to keep a person from obtaining a permit who would be disqualified under Virginia law.
Those who would be disqualified in Virginia include people convicted of a felony, domestic abuse, or drunk driving. Mentally ill people and those dishonorably discharged from the military are also barred from carrying handguns in Virginia.
Most of those people aren’t eligible to own a handgun in the first place. But, what this will do is make it illegal for women who have concealed carry permits who are traveling through Virginia to carry their weapon, putting them in more danger. Why do Democrats want to stop women from defending themselves?
In a statement to The Washington Post, Herring said the move to block reciprocity with the states that don’t meet Virginia standards is a “common sense step†that will keep Virginians safer.
Really? Any evidence?
Well, um, this is certainly interesting. Perhaps this is why, despite all their hysteria and apoplexy regarding fossil fuels, most members of the Cult of Climastrology refuse to give up their own usage of fossil fuels, with some leading Warmists using way more than the average person. As you’re reading this, and popping over to the link, think about the reason for the publication for this study
Climate change shock: Burning fossil fuels ‘COOLS planet’, says NASA
Major theories about what causes temperatures to rise have been thrown into doubt after NASA found the Earth has cooled in areas of heavy industrialisation where more trees have been lost and more fossil fuel burning takes place.
Environmentalists have long argued the burning of fossil fuels in power stations and for other uses is responsible for global warming and predicted temperature increases because of the high levels of carbon dioxide produced – which causes the global greenhouse effect.
While the findings did not dispute the effects of carbon dioxide on global warming, they found aerosols – also given off by burning fossil fuels – actually cool the local environment, at least temporarily.
Interestingly, most of the places which tend to have heavy concentrations of industry and fossil fuels usage are typically urbanized areas, which tend to be run mostly by Democrats in the U.S. and left-leaning political parties in other nations, who all tend to make up the bulk of the True Believers in anthropogenic climate change/global warming.
Of course, what is this really about? We note that the article is essentially saying that industry, burning fossil fuels, and deforestation is masking ACC/AGW
But, rather than being good news, NASA has concluded the lack of taking these factors into account means existing climate change models have underestimated at the future impact on global temperatures will be. (snip)
But the new NASA study dovetails with a GISS study published last year that puts the TCR value at 3.0°F (1.7° C).
TCR is the short term prognostication, up to a century out, saying what will happen with a doubling of atmospheric CO2 concentrations. At its heart, this is all about creating yet another excuse for the Pause, and saying that Doom Is Coming very soon.
I can’t decide whether this article by hyper-Progressive and Warmist Jonathan Chait highlights the idiocy of the Cult of Climastrology or liberals overall, so, let’s go with both
People Who Were Certain Climate Change Is Fake Are Now Certain That Paris Can’t Stop It
The most unintentionally revealing commentary on the Paris climate agreement came from National Review senior editor David Pryce-Jones. “I know next to nothing about the technicalities of the subject, but caught on television news bulletins great wafts of hot air,†he confessed. “It was highly enjoyable to hear President Obama claiming to be saving the planet that his foreign policy has done much to endanger … You don’t have to be a cynic to think that most countries, China and India in the lead, are never going to do anything that might harm their economic development, nor will rich countries commit economic suicide.†This was a real-time window into the conservative mind processing the Paris climate agreement, beginning from a point of frank incomprehension of (and lack of interest in) any specifics of the issue, and proceeding immediately to the conviction that the deal would fail.
The problem, to start off, particularly the headline, is that this is a falsehood: Skeptics do not say that climate change is fake. Au contraire, we understand that the climate is always going to change. What we are debating is the causation. The world has warmed since the end of the Little Ice Age. Heck, there are even some skeptics called luke warmers who think that Mankind is responsible for at least 51% of the warming, but that we are in no way doomed. And, I’ll argue with anyone who says there has been no warming since 1850. And called them pure idiots.
But, let’s not forget that there are many Warmists, such as James Hansen, who say that the Paris agreement won’t stop ‘climate change’.
Then we jump into politics overall, and this is a real hoot
Conservative economic thought is structurally different from liberal thought. Liberal support for expanded government is based entirely in practical expectation that new programs can deliver concrete results — cleaner air, healthier children, higher wages for low-income workers, and so on. Conservative antipathy to expanded government is based ultimately on philosophical opposition. For that reason, data can change liberal economic thinking in a way it can’t change conservative economic thinking. Liberals would abandon, say, new environmental regulations if evidence persuaded them the program was not actually improving the environment, because bigger government is merely the means to an end. No evidence could persuade conservatives to support new environmental regulations, because conservatives consider small government a worthy end for itself. (As Milton Friedman once put it, “Freedom in economic arrangements is itself a component of freedom broadly understood, so economic freedom is an end in itself.â€)
Obviously, we know what he writes about why liberals support bigger government is a lie, as is the lie about concrete results. The only programs liberals want to do away with are national security ones, which actually show concrete results, unlike the majority of programs liberals want.
Liberals have been given endless facts, particularly, in this case, on ‘climate change’, and they refuse to change their minds. They can’t even prove their own theories on climate change as hard facts, yet still refuse to change their minds. Instead, they just change the data/results.
Of course, ‘climate change’ has nothing to do with the environment. Give us fact based reasons, and we’ll support them. The thing is, we do not trust the motivations of Leftists pushing them. I bet support for universal background checks for gun purchases would poll near 100% amongst Conservatives. We know we’ll pass them. But, we also know that they are just a death by 1000 papercuts step for what Leftists want regarding banning private ownership of guns. The Environmental Protection Act, the Clean Air Act, and other similar laws are supported by Conservatives (oh, BTW, let’s not forget which side leaves the grounds around demonstrations cleaner than when they got there and which one leaves it an utter mess). We’re concerned with mission creep. Leftists always want a little bit more government power and control.

There’s no doubt that many, many Muslims around the world were celebrating and dancing in the street when America was attacked on September 11, 2001. But, did they celebrate here in the US?
(NJ.com)  In the weeks since Donald Trump ignited a firestorm by claiming “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in Jersey City cheered the fall of the twin towers on 9/11, elected officials, religious leaders and a former state attorney general denied the existence of celebrations in the city that day.
Media outlets, after scouring archived news stories and video footage, could not find verified accounts of Jersey City Muslims rejoicing.
Please understand, I am not posting this to defend Donald Trump. While he has a few policy positions I support, I in no way want him to be president. I’d rather see ultra-squishy Jon Huntsman before Trump. But, he did have a point, despite it being overblown. Oh, and did the same media spend as much time “scouring” information on Hillary and Barack?
But in a new examination by NJ Advance Media, a police officer who worked on 9/11 and residents on the outskirts of Journal Square say they witnessed small pockets of people celebrating before the groups dispersed or were broken up by authorities.
The NJ Advance Media inquiry, encompassing more than two dozen interviews conducted since Nov. 25, found Trump’s broad assertion that thousands of people cheered to be baseless. At the same time, the inquiry provides the first credible indication of at least two modest celebrations, as described by on-the-record sources who say they witnessed the behavior.
It’s a long, long article, one that shows that there were pockets of cheering by certain members of the Muslim community in Jersey City alone. Does anyone think that this wasn’t happening elsewhere in America? This in no way should indict all members who practice Islam, or even a majority. But, it should make us consider who were are letting into the country. Remember, the hardcore Islamists who perpetrated 9/11 all had visas at one point or another. And it’s not just the violent ones, who are estimated to be just 1% of the people who practice Islam (which would equal 16 million). It’s the reported 10-25% who hold attitudes of hardcore, fundamentalist Islam. And these people, especially the teachers and clerics, teach more to be Islamists. Liberals can bury their heads in the sand, or just deflect away, but, the fundamentalist version of Islam is utterly incompatible with the Progressive agenda. I can’t figure out why Leftists defend hardcore Islam in such an extreme manner.
We can now rest easy, as Cara Fleischer shares her view
Climate change – a mom’s view
As a mom of school-aged children in Tallahassee, I feel called to share my excitement for the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change and its message of hope. Finally, some good news!
Thirteen years ago my life changed when I became a mom, and I realized that my husband and I would do everything we could to protect that beautiful baby girl in our arms. One awful day, our baby daughter began gasping for breath, and we learned she was developing asthma. The doctor told us it was common because Atlanta’s smog could be as bad as Mexico City’s. Whoa. I started paying attention to the smog alerts on the radio, TV and highways, and fear crept in with every Code Red and Code Purple alert. What was causing it? I learned that it was too many cars, power plants and factories pumping carbon into the air.
Um, no. While cars, power plants, and factories are major contributors to smog, smog is not “carbon”, an unscientific way to refer to carbon dioxide. Hey, don’t believe me, believe the EPA
Cars and trucks that combust fuel also emit smog forming emissions, such as nitrogen oxide, non-methane organic gases, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, and formaldehyde.
The Cult of Climastrology is pushing un-scientific propaganda, and they’re all too brainwashed to know it. BTW, does Ms. Fleischer own a fossil fueled vehicle? Does she use energy? Purchase consumer goods? Then, according to her foolish talking point, she’s at fault.
We have moved back to our home town of Tallahassee and love sharing the beauty of this place with our children by playing outside under great live oaks, kayaking on our little lake in Killearn, and spending time on St. George Island. But I couldn’t unlearn what I knew about carbon and climate change.
All parents want to provide a safe place for our children to grow, live and to reach their God-given potential, but by no fault of their own, their future is threatened by the effects of climate change. We read stories about epic storms and their human toll, droughts that turn fertile land into deserts, and California water reserves drying up. We see images of skinny polar bears and melting arctic ice, bleached coral and dying oceans. And closer to home, we hear about sunny-day flooding in Miami Beach, experience record high temperatures and prepare for super storms. It’s no wonder busy parents just tune it all out and hope for the best – a feeling of helplessness has set in.
Maybe she should unlearn it all, because she was wrong about smog, and pretty much wrong on everything else. Of course, after learning all this (false propaganda) information, she immediate went out and changed her own life, right? Right?
I found a local nonpartisan group called Citizens’ Climate Lobby that focuses on solutions, and have been inspired to help. I invite you to have hope, tune in and stand up for our kids’ future. Come to a CCL meeting and learn how to encourage our leaders to move toward clean energy with a Carbon Fee Dividend program.
Nope. She wants to force Everyone Else to practice what she preaches. All based on lies. This is what Skeptics are fighting against. We would prefer to focus on the real problems. In the case of smog, yes, let’s look for ways to deal with this real environmental and health issue. Great strides have been made over the past 40 years. Warmists would throw it all away by focusing an dogmatic junk science.

Well, I bet you didn’t see this one coming
No, There Has Not Been a Mass Shooting Every Day This Year
This inflated stat all over the media isn’t just misleading—it’s stirring undue fear.Take a moment to consider what type of violent event that headline just brought to mind. The places and horrifying attacks you likely recalled surface instantly for most of us when we see or hear the term “mass shooting”—Columbine and Virginia Tech. Aurora and Sandy Hook. Charleston and San Bernardino.
Even as these mass shootings have grown more frequent and loom large in our consciousness, they are a tiny fraction of America’s gun violence and remain relatively rare. Yet many news outlets keep declaring that there have been upwards of “355 mass shootings this year” or “more than one mass shooting per day.” Many gun control advocates say the same.
This wildly inflated statistic isn’t just misleading the public—it’s stirring undue fear and may be encouraging bad policies.
In fact, there have been four mass shootings this year. Or, if you count using the federal government’s current criteria—three or more victims killed in an indiscriminate public rampage—there have been six mass shootings this year.
Huh. Let’s see
So, two by wackjobs and two by Islamists.
Anyhow, the article is well worth the read, a fair and impartial bit of actual journalism. What is the solution to stopping any mass shootings, or even “small” shootings? They can’t stop them in nations that have banned private ownership of guns.
