Susan Rice Was Person Responsible For Trying To Unmask U.S. Citizens

But, hey, remember, this wasn’t political

(Bloomberg)  White House lawyers last month learned that the former national security adviser Susan Rice requested the identities of U.S. persons in raw intelligence reports on dozens of occasions that connect to the Donald Trump transition and campaign, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.

The pattern of Rice’s requests was discovered in a National Security Council review of the government’s policy on “unmasking” the identities of individuals in the U.S. who are not targets of electronic eavesdropping, but whose communications are collected incidentally. Normally those names are redacted from summaries of monitored conversations and appear in reports as something like “U.S. Person One.”

The National Security Council’s senior director for intelligence, Ezra Cohen-Watnick, was conducting the review, according to two U.S. officials who spoke with Bloomberg View on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly. In February Cohen-Watnick discovered Rice’s multiple requests to unmask U.S. persons in intelligence reports that related to Trump transition activities. He brought this to the attention of the White House General Counsel’s office, who reviewed more of Rice’s requests and instructed him to end his own research into the unmasking policy.

For all the caterwauling from Democrats about Russia Russia Russia, they have no actual evidence. Even after trying these shenanigans, they still have no evidence. Here’s what they do potentially have

(Powerline)  In any event, if Rice and others conspired to leak confidential information or publicly disclose information about individuals like General Flynn, it would be a crime.

That crime would be a felony. A big one. And, as many are thinking, would Rice do this without orders? Orders from Obama? There’s almost zero chance that Obama would put anything in writing or in any manner he could be implicated. Give the man credit, he’s slick, and unaccountable.

An interesting part to this whole thing is that it was Mike Cernovich, a guy called Fake News by 60 Minutes, who scooped everyone on this.

This is also funny

[I]t’s safe to say that there was absolutely no collusion of any kind between Team Trump and anyone Russian. None. How do I know this to a near certainty? Because we haven’t seen anybody leak any evidence of any in the six-plus months that they’ve been pushing this nonsense.

And they most certainly won’t find anything in the future. But, hey, it’s a great way to drive a wedge between Americans, fundraise, and be their typical apoplectic selves.

Beautiful Purple Flowers Bloom In Kentucky, Which Means ‘Climate Change’ Doom

If you saw a bunch of lovely purple blooms across the landscape, what would you think? The majesty of nature? Maybe pull out the smartphone for a picture of an awesome landscape? If you’re a Warmist, your first thought is that people should be taxed to stop this

Purple Blooms Across Kentucky Fields Likely a Sign of Climate Change

Purple flowers across many fields in Kentucky and Indiana are more than flowering weeds. An agriculture extension agent says those purple blooms are a sign of climate change and the increasingly unpredictable weather that farmers have to deal with.

Jon Neufelder is an educator with the Purdue University Extension Office in Posey County, Indiana. He said the flowers are purple deadnettle and henbit and they’re a sign of a warm winter and an early spring.

That’s never ever happened before, you guys. And doom!

“I think the research and the science is real, that there is climate change and we’re experiencing it with these extremes in weather. I thinks the facts are that we’re getting earlier and earlier in our planting season and our growing season is expanding. We’ve got a longer window from spring ’til even late in the fall. Crops don’t get frozen out nearly as early they used to 20 or 30 years ago.”

Two points: First, the climate always changes, and is a longer growing season a bad thing? Second, this doesn’t prove causation. And that’s the argument.

Oh, and that Warmists just can’t enjoy nature without thinking their politics.

EPA Head Scott Pruitt Clarifies On ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

This is basically what Pruitt, and most Skeptics, have been saying all along

Pruitt clarifies on climate change

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt acknowledged Sunday that humans are contributing to climate change.

“There’s a warming trend, the climate is changing, and human activity contributes to that change in some measure,” Pruitt said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“The real issue is how much we contribute to it and measuring that with precision,” said the EPA chief, whose appointment was greeted with great concern by environmental activists.

Essentially, it boils down to what most Skeptics always say: the argument is not on warming, because the Earth has warmed roughly 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit since 1850. The argument is on causation. Skeptics say it is mostly/solely caused by nature. Members of the Cult of Climastrology say it is mostly/solely caused by Mankind. Yet, if that’s what Warmists believe, why do so few practice what they preach? Why are their solutions always to tax Other People and instituted more Big Centralized Government?

Less than a month ago, Pruitt said carbon emissions are not “a primary contributor” to global warming.

“I think that measuring with precision human activity on the climate is something very challenging to do, and there’s tremendous disagreement about the degree of impact, so, no, I would not agree that it’s a primary contributor to the global warming that we see,” Pruitt said last month on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

That’s supposed to read as some sort of opposite from what Pruitt stated Sunday, but, it’s really the same thing.

The International Business Times also thinks this is a Big Deal, that Pruitt has made some sort of concession. What’s missing is that Warmists have to prove their assertion that this warm period is different from all the other ones in that it is caused by mankind. So far, they have failed to do that. Because we say so is not science.

Good News: CNN Works Hard To Help Illegal Aliens With 5 Phone Apps

I wonder how many of the illegal aliens are using taxpayer funded phones?

CNN sinks to new low: Promotes ‘5 Must-Have Apps for Undocumented Immigrants’

CNN’s promotion of an open-border policy has reached new heights — or sunk to new depths, depending upon where you stand on the issue.

After a pro-immigration group posted an app designed to help illegals avoid Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, CNN did the group one better — actually four better.

Under the headline, “5 Must-Have Apps for Undocumented Immigrants,” CNN/Money listed “tools [to] arm undocumented immigrants with knowledge, safety and moral support without compromising privacy.”

They were developed with an eye toward the Donald Trump administration, which promised to crack down on illegal immigrants — most especially those who have committed felonies while in the United States. CNN reported:

President Trump’s efforts to crack down on immigration have left millions of undocumented immigrants with an uncertain future in America. In response, digital entrepreneurs are using technology to help support this community.

And to make it easy, the applications are in Spanish.

CNN went on to provide those 5 apps, which do things like allow illegals to let others know that immigration raids are happening. Which is fantastic, since the vast majority of people ICE goes after are illegals with criminal convictions on their record. Rape, robbery, assault, DUI, identity theft, coming back in after being deported (a federal felony), burglary, arson, and child molestation. Much like Democrats, these are the people illegals are attempting to shelter.

And now CNN is attempting to help those who are unlawfully present in the country, and are the Bad People Democrats keep telling us should be deported. Of course, they don’t really want them deported. They’d rather turn them into citizens with the ability to vote Democrat.

One question: wouldn’t this make CNN complicit in violating federal law in regards to attempting criminals evade the law? Look up 8 US Code 1324.

Good News: Obama’s Best Buddies Iran Are Arming Militants In Bahrain

It’s a good thing the Obama administration didn’t help craft an agreement that removed tons of restrictions and sanctions against Iran, and give them $1.7 billion (heck, one report states $33.6 billion)

U.S. increasingly sees Iran’s hand in the arming of Bahraini militants

The report, a copy of which was shown to The Washington Post, partly explains the growing unease among some Western intelligence officials over tiny Bahrain, a stalwart U.S. ally in the Persian Gulf and home to the Navy’s Fifth Fleet. Six years after the start of a peaceful Shiite protest movement against the country’s Sunni-led government, U.S. and European analysts now see an increasingly grave threat emerging on the margins of the uprising: heavily armed militant cells supplied and funded, officials say, by Iran.

Signs of growing militancy have been cropping up for years, with arrests of masked operatives planting roadside bombs and seizures of weapons and explosives smuggled into the country by land and sea. But until recently, Western officials have been cautious in accusing Iran of direct involvement in the unrest, citing inconclusive or unreliable evidence, as well as fears of further roiling sectarian tensions. Bahrain, a monarchy, is majority Shiite but ruled by a Sunni minority.

While Bahraini officials frequently accuse Tehran of inciting violence, the allegations often have been discounted as exaggerations by a monarchy that routinely cites terrorism as a justification for cracking down on Shiite activists.

Now, the West’s reluctance appears to be fading. Despite credibility problems raised by Bahrain’s human rights record, Western intelligence agencies are seeing a new boldness by Iran in supporting armed insurgents in the kingdom, according to multiple analysts from the United States and two Western European governments.

Documents and interviews with current and former intelligence officials describe an elaborate training program, orchestrated by Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, to school Bahraini militants in the techniques of advanced bombmaking and guerrilla warfare. A wide variety of increasingly sophisticated weaponry — much of it forensically linked to Iran — has been discovered in Bahrain over the past three years, including hundreds of pounds of military-grade explosives that almost certainly originated in Iran, U.S. and European intelligence officials say. The efforts appear to mirror similar ongoing operations to build a network of pro-Tehran militant groups elsewhere in the Middle East, from Yemen to Iraq and Syria, several analysts said.

This is one of those long, long, long articles one expects on the front page of newspapers on Sundays, and notes that this has been going on for years. No mention of Obama and his administration working overtime to hook up Iran, putting lots of money in their coffers. The weapons and weapon making materials that keep being found are expensive and, as the article puts it, unexpected in their complexity. And power.

The report called the existence of such devices in Bahrain “deeply puzzling,” noting that the firepower far exceeded what would be required to blow up the ordinary police cruisers and unarmored transports used by Bahraini patrols. One plausible use for the EFPs would be to destroy tanks and troop carriers dispatched from neighboring Gulf countries in the event of a future conflict. Or perhaps the bombmakers and their sponsors had an entirely different goal in mind, the report said: to “inflict grave damage to U.S. forces and facilities.”

Particularly the U.S. naval operations center in Manama, Bahrain, which has lots of U.S. ships. The amounts of explosive being found are similar to what was used against the U.S.S. Cole.

And, no, Bahrain doesn’t have a really great human rights record, as pointed out ad nauseum in the article. Not mentioned is the even worse human rights record of Iran, which the liberal media had no problem with when their darling Obama was cutting deals with Iran and giving them billions, which allows them to increase their funding of Middle Eastern terrorism.

Interestingly, the Iran deal and all the money are never mentioned in the article. Go figure.

Uh Oh: More Trees Aren’t Necessarily Good For Globull Warming

When people by carbon offsets, they are usually told that it involves planting a tree. At least, that is what all these carbon offsets providers proclaim. And Warmists are constantly screeching about planting more trees, especially at the ‘climate change’ rallies they drive to in their fossil fueled vehicles. But, um, see…

More trees, less global warming? Not exactly

Trees are considered as one of our biggest natural allies in the war against global warming, but in a new twist, scientists have found that the army of green is spewing out methane.

The University of Delaware study is one of the first in the world to show that tree trunks in upland forests actually emit methane rather than store it, representing a new, previously unaccounted source of this powerful greenhouse gas.

Methane is about 25 times stronger than carbon dioxide, with some estimates as high as 33 times stronger due to its effects when it is in the atmosphere. (snip)

Overall, the tree trunks acted as a source of carbon dioxide and as a small source of methane, but the magnitude of gases emitted varied with the species.

It’s actually not new that plants release methane: there’s a story way back in my archive about a study about food crops taking CO2 out of the air while releasing methane. But, get this: it’s all part of the natural process of life on earth. If we were all doomed, Warmists might actually practice what they preach instead of demanding taxes and fees on Other People while calling for bigger and more controlling centralized government.
