Good Grief: Woman Will Drive To Mexico To Get Birth Control If GOP Health Bill Passes

Possibly the dumbest, and most partisan (other than the normal wackadoodle Russia garbage), thing you’ll read all day, but, then, it’s still early, and CNN has plenty of time (via Twitchy)

‘Trumpcare’ would send her to Mexico for birth control

All Ariana and Kevin Gonzalez want is birth control.

As far as health care needs go, that’s pretty simple.

But the California couple says that if the Republican alternative to Obamacare becomes law, they’ll be driving over the border to Mexico to get it

It’s not that the Gonzalezes don’t have insurance; they have very good insurance through Ariana’s job as a high school teacher.

The problem is that “Trumpcare,” as Ariana calls it, would probably run her health clinic out of town. It’s Planned Parenthood, which the Republican health care proposal defunds because it performs abortions.

The claim here is that this is a tiny, very spread out community in southeastern California, El Centro, so it can take a month to get a regular appointment with a doctor and take all day waiting, but, she can get an appointment with the baby butchers at Planned Parenthood the next day and only wait 30 minutes for her appointment (as long as she isn’t interested in a mammogram, or other regular doctor services).

Ariana has a message for senators as they contemplate whether to pass the law, also known as the American Health Care Act.

“If (Planned Parenthood’s) doors are shut, you’ll be driving your own constituents to an entirely different country in search of health care, and that’s not America,” she said. “I don’t think that’s who we are as a country.”

Really? Planned Parenthood makes more than enough money to survive on its own. Heck, they had $30 million to toss around for the 2016 election cycle (didn’t do them much good). They make more than enough money to stay open. Perhaps all their big moneyed Democrat supporters, like Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, etc, along with all the celebrities, can donate.

Democrats aren’t the smartest fish in the tank, are they? There are actually 7 drug stores in her town of El Centro, California. And a Walmart. And a Walmart further down the road on the short ride to Mexicali, Mexico.

Money quote

She thinks about a photo that made the rounds on social media in March. It showed Vice President Mike Pence and a group of congressmen discussing the passage of the GOP plan, called the American Health Care Act.

“I see a bunch of men sitting around a table, discussing what I should be allowed to do with my body,” she said. “My husband and I can decide what’s best for us.”

Except, Obamacare dictates what she can do with her body, just like it does for everyone else. It decides what’s best for her, her husband, and everyone else. She and her husband want to decide what everyone else is forced to pay for.

Democratic Illegal Alien Supporting Mayors Are Upset By Federal Involvement

Isn’t it amazing how, suddenly, Democrats are Very Concerned with the federal government getting involved with Things?

Mayors: Immigration orders meddle with cities

Mayors are warning President Donald Trump that toughening immigration enforcement meddles with U.S. cities’ affairs.

More than 250 mayors are meeting at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Miami Beach to take a stance on issues from climate change to the federal budget and health care. They are reviewing resolutions that would strongly oppose Trump’s crack down on illegal immigration.

Mayors were struck a blow in January, when Trump ordered to cut funding to jurisdictions that deny in some way cooperation with federal immigration agents. Most cities have defied the order, and a federal judge blocked it in April, at least temporarily.

“Some of us are proud to be places of sanctuary, to protect immigrants, but this idea that we’re in violation of something, I think is a big charade,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

They now love the concept of a limited federal government, federalism, the 10th Amendment, at least as it pertains to sheltering people who are unlawfully present in the United States. Of course, in this case, the federal government is actually tasked by the Constitution to deal with illegal aliens under the guise of stopping foreign foreign invasion.

Garcetti argued that all he wants from immigration officials is that they conduct enforcement in a “lawful, constitutional, court-ordered way,” referring to policies where sanctuary cities demand warrants to turn over suspects to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

On one hand, I agree, and have written as much. There should be judges which essentially rubber stamp warrants for jurisdictions to hold illegals. Of course, with detainers, they are only good for 48 hours. Warrants could force sanctuary jurisdictions to hold them much longer.

On the other hand, if they did start doing warrants, federal law ignoring mayors like Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti would certainly, like 99%, find a way to complain and attempt to thwart the warrants.

Cheap Meat Is A Big Problem For Hotcoldwetdry

The nags in the Cult of Climastrology just can’t help themselves

Cheap meat is a bigger problem for climate and health

Meat is the driving cause behind a wide range of ills, from obesity to climate change and deforestation, and it’s time for politicians to do something about it, said a leading scholar on sustainability issues.

”The climate change debate has so far mostly focussed on cutting carbon pollution from transport and energy because cheap meat has become a kind of human right in our modern societies,” said Johan Rockstroem, a professor of environmental science at Stockholm University and executive director of the research institute, Stockholm Resilience Centre.

Isn’t it funny how all the Warmist policy prescriptions revolve around Government forcing citizens to Do Something?

An Eat-funded research team will next year unveil guidelines for a diet that is both healthy and sustainable enough to feed 9-10 billion people by 2050.

Rockstroem said it is clear that the current system is all but broken.

The better for Big Centralized Government weenies to exert more control.

Agriculture is the number-one cause of greenhouse gases, deforestation, depletion of freshwater resources, and the extinction of species.

Wait, I though it was fossil fuels? No?

Rockstroem said the food revolution demands that politicians regulate and even ban certain types of food.

They keep making the case that this is a political, Progressive (nice Fascism) issue.

On a related note, I get a kick out of the same Leftists who complain about about obesity (and how it is related to ‘climate change’) in their next breath complain about “body shaming.”

Tennessee Trolls California Over Travel Ban

Several days ago, California did this

(CNN) California has issued a ban on state-funded and state-sponsored travel to four more states that it says have laws discriminating against LGBTQ people.

The travel ban was first put into effect January 1 when state measure AB 1887 became law. The law says California is “a leader in protecting civil rights and preventing discrimination” and should not support or finance “discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.” (Snip)

Kansas, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Tennessee were the original states banned by AB 1887, but Becerra added Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota and Texas on Thursday, citing what he called new discriminatory legislation enacted against the LGBTQ community in those states.

Now, AB 1887 is rather weaselly, because it includes an out in only disallowing “non-essential” travel. Several states, like New York, did the same thing.

Well, Tennessee is taking a shot back

https://twitter.com/martyduren/status/878698809118916608

This is a real thing. In fact, it was introduced in February and signed by Governor Bill Haslam on May 4th. It seems to be just hitting the news now, though, especially after the new travel bans.

But, of course, those bans do not include things like California colleges playing sporting games in those states. The game which features Fresno State playing Alabama is still on. Several of the sites for the 2018 March Madness are in the banned states, including the Final 4 being in San Antonio, Texas. Will California stop their teams from playing in those sites? Oh, right, this would be considered “essential.” All that money.

California is cool with travel bans when it serves their own narrow interests, eh?

TDS: NY Times Decides To Take Iran’s Side Against Trump

It really is a sign of the time that that, despite laying out a position that Iran is a pretty bad nation, the NY Times Editorial Board has quietly, softly, come to the conclusion that Trump is the problem. It’s even right there in the subhead

The Iran Puzzle
President Trump insists turning a complicated relationship into a volatile one.

One of the Obama administration’s biggest diplomatic ambitions was to establish better relations with Iran, a nation with which the United States has been at odds since the fall of the shah and the rise of a powerful theocratic government in Tehran in 1979. The most important manifestation of that effort was a deal negotiated by the administration and its allies under which Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.

Yes, that deal which meant Iran was supposed to wait 10 years or so before cranking back up the nuclear weapon building machine. The one which saw Team Obama give, according to some reports, upwards of $33.6 billion. The one which Iran is flaunting with all the sanctions they break. They’ve even broken the deal itself.

That momentary thaw, if not the agreement itself, now seems at risk. Partly this is a result of Iran’s barely-concealed territorial and political ambitions, which are rightly of concern in Washington. Partly it is a result of President Trump’s fondness for Saudi Arabia, a Sunni Muslim nation, which has led him to demonize Iran, a Shiite nation and the Saudis’ chief rival for regional influence.

No, it’s pretty much Iran’s fault, being an extremist nation with a stated goal to spread the caliphate, to control the Middle East, to wipe Israel off the map, and to harass what they constantly call “the Great Satan.” It’s the world’s number one terrorist supporting nation.

The NYTEB even lays out a case that Iran is very problematic in regards to the civil war in Syria and the fight against ISIS, along with how it’s attempting to control Iraq, along with other issues. While utterly forgetting these are problems left to Mr. Trump by Mr. Obama. This same EB was very fond of Blaming Bush during Obama’s entire 1st term. Guess that doesn’t apply now.

Could Mr. Trump stumble into a wider war in Syria? There are reasons to worry. He has yet to offer a comprehensive plan for dealing with Syria, including the diplomacy needed to develop a political solution to end the civil war, which could create a more stable country less vulnerable to extremist groups.

None of Obama’s frameworks worked, did they?

The fear is that Mr. Trump’s demonizing of Iran, and his unwillingness to engage its government, could result in a broadening of the American military mission from defeating ISIS to preventing Iranian influence from expanding. This would be dangerous. Iran is a vexing state to be smartly managed, not assumed to be an implacable enemy.

And as they end, the NYTEB worries more about Trump being mean to a nation that wishes death to America due to the Trump Derangement Syndrome rampant among its members. Is it any wonder the Times is laying off more so-called journalists and outsourcing their news?

Surprise: Washington Post Blames ‘Climate Change’ For Tropical Storm Cindy

Richard Cleetus (who’s not a climate scientist: remember, according to Cult of Climastrology talking points, we’re only supposed to listen to actual climate scientists (unless they help the Narrative)) isn’t the first to Blamestorm ‘climate change’ for Cindy, but, you can expect this type of un-science idiocy with any and every tropical system that comes on-shore

Phoenix heat, Tropical Storm Cindy show how climate change is a threat to our infrastructure

Much of the Southwestern United States is reeling under a heat wave so severe that it has forced airlines to ground flights. On the Gulf Coast, millions of people were put on emergency alert ahead of Tropical Storm Cindy, which caused widespread flooding and power outages. Climate change is already affecting our economy and safety, with risks to critical infrastructure — roads, bridges, dams, water and energy infrastructure and military sites.

In Warmist World, heat waves and tropical systems never happened before Mankind drove fossil fuels.

The nation’s infrastructure is already in a precarious state, consistently earning a near-failing grade of D-plus from the American Society of Civil Engineers.

So Obama and the Dems wasted all that money from the Stimulus to fix zip?

Much of it was built assuming past climate and weather patterns, with some margin of safety. But now, climate change — in the form of more frequent and severe heat waves; floods exacerbated by sea-level rise and increased heavy rainfall; droughts; wildfires; and other impacts — is adding an extra layer of risk.

They just can’t help themselves with the insanity. There’s little point in refuting them yet again, as Warmists, like all Progressives, are close minded, do not listen, and continuously ramp up their unhinged talking points in complete opposition to actual scientific facts.

In 2012, Superstorm Sandy left more than 8 million people in 21 states without power, shutting down or damaging at least 165 electric substations, several large power plants, 7,000 transformers, and 15,000 electrical poles.

Remember, we were told that would be the new normal. Just like more tropical storms and hurricanes. Don’t Warmists ever get tired of being wrong?

Cast Of Trump Assassination Play Is “Exhausted, Nervous, And Fearful” Or Something

Of course, they don’t see the problems as being caused by their own actions, as we see in the Excitable UK Guardian

Actor who played assassin of Trump-like Caesar tells of cast ‘exhaustion and fear’
Corey Stoll, who took role of Marcus Brutus in New York production of Julius Caesar targeted by rightwing protesters, ‘exhaled and sobbed’ after final show

Corey Stoll, the actor who played the assassin Marcus Brutus in a New York production of Julius Caesar that was repeatedly interrupted by pro-Donald Trump protesters, has written of the fear such actions engendered among a cast left “exhausted and nervous” by the time of the final show, in Central Park last Sunday.

Writing for Vulture, Stoll decried “this new world where art is willfully misinterpreted to score points and to distract”.

Is anyone misinterpreting the notion that the play has substituted the duly elected President of the United States in for Julius Caesar, and “murdering” him on stage?

The Public Theater production, which featured a central character dressed to look like Trump, was first interrupted by protester Laura Loomer, who shouted that “this is political violence against the right”. The incident was filmed by Jack Posobiec, a rightwing conspiracy theorist, who stood up and told the crowd: “You are all Nazis like Joseph Goebbels.”

Stoll, who said he was initially worried the decision to depict Caesar as Trump would make the play like a “Saturday Night Live skit”, pointed to the surreality of the moment when he wrote: “I swear I thought he said ‘gerbils’.”

OK, so, we’re not “willfully misinterpreting” the intention of the play. They meant to assassinate Trump on-stage.

The brutality of the assassination in the play and its disastrous consequences showed liberal audience members that violent regime change was “hideous, shameful, and self-defeating”, Stoll wrote.

Nice spin. Perhaps a “beyond mulefritters” category is necessary.

Really, this is all meant to make people feel sorry for the people who have created their own problems, making them Victims. Utterly typical in Victimhood Society.

Actions have consequences. Some good, some neutral, some bad. Did no one consider the ramifications of putting on a play where  President Trump is assassinated nightly? Let’s turn it around: would anyone have considered this a good idea if they substituted Mr. Obama for Julius? If these schmucks feel nervous, exhausted, and fearful, well, that’s on them.
