“Scientists” Are Getting Better At Linking (Non-existent) Extreme Weather To ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

Extreme weather is not getting worse. In fact, many events linked to climate have decreased. But, that never stops a good talking point

Scientists are getting better at linking extreme events, such as wildfires, to climate change

climate change joke

The largest B.C. city between Kamloops and Prince George has been evacuated because of wildfires.

As people have fled Williams Lake, a massive fire still rages out of control in the Ashcroft area.

Ten kilometres north of Princeton, there’s another huge wildfire. And 100 Mile House is close to another massive wildfire that’s simply called Gustafsen North.

Then there’s the sudden grassfire that grew to 30 hectares in Lake Country, which burned a few homes.

In total, up to 37,000 British Columbians have been evacuated from their communities.

Yet in the midst of all of this, there’s been very little mention of climate change in national and provincial media reports about these blazes.

Why is that?

Primarily because there’s no scientific proof that the fires were caused because Someone Else drove a fossil fueled vehicle. And, if you actually spend some time looking them up, they think that in most cases the fires were caused by humans doing stupid things, rather than a tiny increase in the average global temperature

Last year, a paper published by the World Meteorological Organization addressed this communications gap.

“While scientists have known for decades that changes in some classes of extreme weather would result from climate change, the science of attributing individual extreme events to global warming has only advanced significantly in recent years to cover a greater number of extremes and achieve a greater speed of scientific analysis,” the paper states. “Unfortunately, the communication of this science outside the extreme event research community has, with a few notable exceptions, not fully reflected these advances.

In other words, their scare-mongering talking points have gotten better, and tend to be disseminated by the Credentialed Media.

It’s worth noting that one local meteorologist, CBC’s Johanna Wagstaffe, has diligently tried to educate the public about the consequences of climate change. But by and large, B.C. media reports about the wildfires have rarely brought up the relationship between rising greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere and the high likelihood of more forest fires, such as those that we’re seeing in the Cariboo and Kamloops forest centres.

It’s all a bunch of mule fritters. Wild fires have always happened, and will always happen. It has nothing to do with rising greenhouse gas emissions. Of course, wildfires have been going down.

Do you know what doesn’t help? When the enviro-wackos refuse to allow brush, otherwise known as “highly flammable tinder”, to be cleared in areas that could effect homes.

Reebok Goes Political, Goes After Trump For His Compliments To Macron’s Wife

Here’s a good idea: a shoe and apparel company going political, taking a silly shot at President Trump

(Mediaite) This was an obvious jab at President Trump for his remarks to Brigitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, when he said that she was in “such good shape” and called her “beautiful.”

They captured a few pushback tweets, which look like this

NY Times Digs Deep To Assault Trump Over (Spins Wheel) Census

I remember an old story, deep in my archives somewhere, about a leftist blogger who would wake up each day in a fit of Bush Derangement Syndrome. She’d grab her non-alcoholic beer at 7am, get her smokes out, and think about how she could be apoplectic over Bush. This seems to much the same as the NY Times Editorial Board goes after President Donald Trump. Oh, and while they’re doing this, they manage to hit previous President Barack Obama in the face

Save the Census

An administration uninterested in staffing federal agencies, at war with facts and eager to help Congress cut the budget is further endangering a cornerstone of American democracy: the duty to count all who live here.

The Government Accountability Office already put the 2020 census on its list of high-risk projects early this year, due to uncertainty about its budget and technology, and Americans’ increasing distrust of government data collection.

Then, the Census Bureau’s director, John Thompson, who was expected to remain on the job until at least the end of the year, resigned in June. Mr. Trump has not named a permanent replacement. The agency’s deputy director, Nancy Potok, an experienced statistician, left in January, and she also has not been replaced.

Sounds nefarious! Or, it could be that he had worked for the Census since 1975, and decided it was time to retire.

The bureau — criticized in the past by government watchdogs and Congress for cost overruns and management missteps — is strapped for cash in a critical preparation year. The bureau could need an increase of more than $300 million to its $1.5 billion budget to install new technology and conduct a comprehensive test in time for 2020, according to an analysis of bureau budget requests and projections by Terri Ann Lowenthal, a census expert. So far, the Trump administration and Congress are recommending an increase of about one-tenth that amount, according to the Census Project, a nonpartisan census advocacy group.

OK, so, the Census is in desperate need for a technology update. These issues have been known since the last census in 2010. Remind me, who was president during the majority of time since the last census? This is the kind of thing that would have had all the media outlets, including the NY Times Editorial Board, Blaming Bush back in 2009 and 2010 (and beyond).

The census has always been vulnerable to political attack, and is especially so now. In 2009, Tea Party conservatives in the House tried unsuccessfully to kill off the bureau’s annual American Community Survey, a continuing tracking of respondents’ occupations, education, homeownership and other topics, as a supposed intrusion on privacy. A joint study by the American Enterprise Institute and the Brookings Institution this year calls the survey data “indispensable” in helping local governments plan.

And citizens call it intrusive and overbearing, asking for more data on our private lives that government has no right to ask. Hence the reason quite a few people refused to provide details beyond the basics.

Mr. Trump poses an additional threat: His repeated efforts to discredit voter registration data and government employment numbers leave census officials worried that a random tweet from him could discourage more people from participating. Census professionals worry that the administration’s efforts to deport undocumented immigrants could make them wary of providing information about themselves and where they live.

Aww, are the people living unlawfully in the U.S. worried? Good. They should be.

The census begins on April 1, 2020, and it must be completed in the summer for congressional reapportionment and redistricting to take place. Any failure would be immediately apparent — and it would tar Republicans at the height of the 2020 primary campaign season. Perhaps that reality will help inspire congressional leaders to support an accurate count, demonstrating to Americans that, even in the age of Trump, facts matter.

Good lord, it’s not that hard to count where people live. Which is one of the main points of the census, to count the population to apportion the House of Representatives. Which Progressives no longer like, because people keep moving to Republican states.

But, see, when we’re talking about the money, well, there have been massive cost over-runs and poor spending choices. Like most government. And, in fact, there is an acting director. The NYTEB forgot to mention his name, Ron Jarmin. But, this is all about Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Climate Alarm Today: Maize, Rice, Wheat Totally In Danger Or Something

Today’s bit of scaremongering from the Cult Of Climastrology, because they haven’t pulled this food crops are doomed story recently

climate change joke

Maize, rice, wheat: alarm at rising climate risk to vital crops

Governments may be seriously underestimating the risks of crop disasters occurring in major farming regions around the world, a study by British researchers has found.

The newly published research, by Met Office scientists, used advanced climate modelling to show that extreme weather events could devastate food production if they occurred in several key areas at the same time. Such an outcome could trigger widespread famine.

The scientists, led by Chris Kent, of the Met Office, focused their initial efforts on how extreme weather would affect maize, one of the world’s most widely grown crops. Heat and drought were the prime risks, although flooding was also included in the analysis.

Notice, this is all about scaremongering in the future using computer models. In fact, all three crops, along with most crops, have been doing just fine, and in many cases hitting records. Can you guess which crops have had trouble? That’s right, the ones which have been hit with freezes, like tomatoes…oh, right, right, cold is now blamed on greenhouse gases now.

The U.S. Should Be A Welcoming Place Or Something

The Editorial Board of the Santa Fe New Mexican has decided to take a stab at immigration issues, more specifically one specific refugee, while mixing its metaphors

The U.S. should be a welcoming place

Tighter U.S. security and greater scrutiny of foreign visitors are not stopping the world from coming to Santa Fe this weekend in a glorious show of global harmony.

The International Folk Art Market | Santa Fe is the antithesis of a U.S. that fears the world, desires to remain in isolation and keeps out Muslims and other “different” types of visitors and immigrants. What has happened in Santa Fe for the past 14 years — the coming together of master artists from all over the world — is a better version of the United States than one where foreigners are viewed as suspect.

The market shows that the U.S. can be an exception in the best way, by being the place where people of all cultures gather and share knowledge and their common humanity. Artists and musicians from Cuba are here, building relationships that can only help our two countries. Considering our past with Cuba — and the recent thawing of relations and the current president’s disavowal of closer ties — those relationships are crucial to the future.

This goes on for a bit, and you can see where it is going, right? The problem here is that these people are legally allowed in the United States, they’re here on vistors permits, much like if a U.S. citizen travels to other countries. Get this, though: if any of them commit crimes, they can be immediately escorted to the airport and sent packing. The Editorial Board uses this art exhibit as an excuse to attempt to protect another immigrant

As the folk art market was getting underway, this is what has been unfolding in Albuquerque. Kadhim Al-bumohammed, an Iraqi man facing detention and deportation, instead decided to seek sanctuary. Al-bumohammed, 64, had been told to report to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials with a packed bag, likely to be sent back to his home country of Iraq. He has not lived there since 1994. His family believes he would face persecution in Iraq because he aided the U.S. military during the Persian Gulf War in 1990-91 and later taught language and cultural awareness at California military bases. In Iraqi eyes, he is a collaborator.

Al-bumohammed can be deported — he has misdemeanor convictions on domestic violence charges — and the U.S. is pushing to kick out foreign residents with any criminal black marks. Such a blanket action, though, does not leave room for human compassion or even for rewarding those who risked their lives to help our troops overseas. Al-bumohammed faces serious health conditions, including having limited kidney function. He takes oxygen because of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and must take medicine daily.

Just a few black marks. Well, per the AP

Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement Thursday that 64-year-old Kadhim Al-bumohammed (kah-DHEEM al-boo-MOH-HAH-med) was convicted in San Diego, California, in 1996 of a assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest in 1994.

The agency says Al-bumohammed also was convicted of domestic violence in Merced County, California, in 1997. ICE says that domestic violence made him eligible for removal under U.S. law.

Hey, beating your wife isn’t really a black mark, right? Right? Back to the editorial

Immigration policy can be a set of broad goals and principles, while still leaving leeway for common sense and compassion. Such a policy could leave in place those who are no risk to their neighbors and who, like Al-bumohammed, need medical care they likely will not receive in their home country. He has a wife who is a naturalized citizen and four U.S.-born children. We do not need to tear this family apart in order to keep the United States safe.

Here’s the problem: there is always some sort of sob story with people facing deportation, be they illegal aliens or refugees allowed in lawfully. At the end of the day, this is all on them. Not us. Illegals chose to come illegally/overstay their visas. Refugees are guests in our nation. And, if either group does something to end up on the radar of immigration officers, well, that is on them

Al-bumohammed’s case caught federal attention in 2004 when, federal agents likely renewing his green card found his misdemeanor violations and flagged him for deportation. Al-bumohammed lost three rounds of appeal to stay in the country and was ordered deported in 2010. But Iraq wasn’t accepting deportees, so he was allowed to stay as long as he checked-in annually, which Kitson said he has. He was scheduled for his annual check-in in September.

You can see in the editorial that they’re quietly trying to Blame Trump, but, the case started back under Bush, and the deportation order occurred on Obama. ICE agents are simply following the law. And everyone has their sob story. Try using a sob story with your employer when you’ve missed enough days to be terminated. See how that works out.

The United States is the most welcoming nation in the world. Too often, people take advantage of that.

Gail Collins Descends Into A Perfect Storm Of Sore Loser Syndrome And TDS

Full throated barking moonbat syndrome

Couldn’t We Just Trade Presidents?

Why can’t Emmanuel Macron be our president?

American citizens watching Donald Trump’s visit to Paris must have wondered how we got the wrong guy. Macron seemed so smart, so charming. The fact that he didn’t father any children would not normally be a big selling point, but right now we are yearning for a president with no offspring.

The screed goes into all the normal whines about Russia Russia Russia, but, hey, if Gail loves Macron so much, she’s welcome to move to France. Hillary lost. She was a terrible candidate. Had the Democrats run someone better, they might control the White House, and even the Senate.

‘Climate Change’ Could Make The World “Practically Ungovernable”

You have to know that this is one of the scariest outcomes of the climate change scam, because Warmists/Progressives are all about authoritative governance

(Science Alert) Former NASA climate chief James Hansen believes climate change’s most dangerous effect will be a continuous rise in sea levels and not necessarily the increase in temperatures.

Because so many people live in coastal cities, the mass migrations inland that will follow this rise could leave the world in ungovernable chaos. (snip)

In a paper published last year, Hansen warned that continuous reliance on fossil fuels could increase sea levels by several meters in just a period of 50 to 150 years. (snip)

Coastlines are home to more than half the world’s large cities, so a significant portion of the population will be affected by these rising sea levels.

“The economic implications of that, and the migrations and the social effects of migrations … the planet could become practically ungovernable, it seems to me,” said Hansen.
