Trump To Head To Texas Tuesday

The media and Democrats are having a tough time finding a way to bash Mr. Trump and his response to Hurricane Harvey. Of course, if you take a peek through the Twitter timelines of a lot of Democrats, you’ll find zero mention of the storm About the only ones I’ve found are those from Texas and Chuck Schumer. The leftist running the MTV VMA’s couldn’t be bothered to mention the storm. But, we do have this from the NY Times with a little shot

Trump to Travel to Texas With Torrential Rain Still in the Forecast

President Trump on Sunday announced plans to travel to Texas on Tuesday, as millions of people there continued to battle catastrophic flooding and torrential rain that was expected to last for several more days.

The timing of a presidential visit, as the disaster was still unfolding, could put Mr. Trump in an awkward position of adding to the logistical headaches for state officials, though he may avoid the storm-ravaged parts of Texas. The White House emphasized that the president’s plans were tentative and could still change.

Trump can’t win. If he didn’t go, he’d be blasted. Since he is going, he catches flack for possibly causing headaches.

Mr. Trump did not wait long to start doling out praise. On Saturday, as relief efforts were just gearing up, the president tweeted to the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Brock Long, “You are doing a great job — the world is watching! Be safe.”

That echoed President George W. Bush’s premature endorsement of his FEMA chief, Michael Brown — “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job” — after Hurricane Katrina inundated New Orleans in August 2005. The government’s relief effort, of course, was subsequently botched, and Mr. Bush’s attaboy came back to haunt him.

Ah, good, they’re trying to set it up to assign blame. Of course, in reality, it wasn’t fully the fault of Michael Brown: it was the horrendous pre-hurricane response from the Democrat mayor of New Orleans and Governor of Louisiana, and their post storm responses. These problems didn’t occur in the other states, such as Mississippi, who were hit hard. Remember, Katrina came ashore in Mississippi.

But, we do find a little bit of praise lower in the story

(Homeland Security Advisor) Mr. Bossert suggested that disaster relief, with its focus on rapid response and logistics, was well suited to Mr. Trump.

“This is right up President Trump’s alley,” he said. “His questions weren’t about geopolitical issues or about large political consequences. His questions were about, ‘Are you doing what it takes to help the people who are going to be affected by this storm?’”

Say what you will about Trump, when it’s time to get things done, he seems to care less about politics than Getting Things Done. As a longtime businessman, he understands that.

But, don’t worry, Democrats will surely find a way to Blamestorm.

Warmist Wants Private Energy Utilities Placed Under Control Of Government

Loony Guardian writer Kate Arnoff isn’t a big fan of capitalism, despite using services created by capitalism to let us know that she doesn’t like capitalism, and blames capitalism for Hurricane Harvey. Then there’s this from back on August 1st

From the article

What’s clear now is that the electric utility sector is broken, and its biggest and most influential firms can’t be trusted to work in the public’s best interest. Massive transformations in the electric power sector are both desperately needed and eminently possible. Updating our outmoded grid system, for instance – making it easier for customers to sell back power to their power providers – could yield fairer rates for customers and hundreds of thousands of well-paid jobs. The only way to get there is to take investors’ endless thirst for short-term profits out of the equation.

Of course, America’s many publicly owned utilities are in need of massive reforms, too. The sector as a whole is beholden to a series of archaic regulations written before solar and wind generation was possible. But the kind of wholesale transformation science demands of it will be virtually impossible so long as a small handful of wealthy elites are calling the shots.

Dethroning the utility barons isn’t such a crazy idea. The Labour manifesto Jeremy Corbyn ran on in the last UK general election called for a “transition to a publicly owned, decentralised energy system”. In the US, we have our own examples for how to put electric utilities back under democratic control. Some of them, like our New Deal-era rural electric cooperatives, already are. And towns and cities here and around the world are moving to make power provision more low-carbon and democratic.

I’ve long been noting that one of the purposes of the ‘climate change’ movement is to put control of the energy sector under the total control of the Government. It’s all part of the overall scheme of Progressivism, an authoritarian political model. If they control your energy, they’re well on their way to controlling you, especially when you combine that with all the other things they want to control, like healthcare.

There’s no need to stop at electric utilities, either. Since the financial crisis, people on both sides of the Atlantic feel out of control of their economic lives, saddled with both mounting debts and stagnant wages. All the while, the rich are getting richer.

That so many aspects of our economy are controlled by so few people represents as much of a crisis for the planet as it does for democracy. Putting it back into public hands is an opportunity to start mending both.

That’s right, she doesn’t want to stop at energy, everything else should be controlled by government, using a 1%er argument. There is a case to be made that too few people in control is problematic. Switching that control to Government and the few people in control there is not the answer. Nor does it increase democracy. It increases despotism. If a private entity becomes overbearing, there are recourses. What of when the government does this? It doesn’t go away. There’s virtually no one to stop it.

San Francisco Was So Into Free Speech That They Walled Off Park To Stop Patriot Prayer

This is now how they do Free Speech in San Fransisco , one of the leading cities in Progressive World

(Fox News) Protesters opposing a right-wing gathering in liberal San Francisco claimed victory Saturday when the event was cancelled after city officials walled off a city park — a move that the event’s organizer said was more about silencing his group’s message than preventing a violent clash.

Civic leaders in San Francisco — a cradle of the free speech movement that prides itself on its tolerance — repeatedly voiced concerns that the event organized by Patriot Prayer would lead to a clash with counter-demonstrators.

Joey Gibson, who is Japanese American and leads Patriot Prayer, said his group disavows racism and hatred and wanted to promote dialogue with people who may not share its views. He cancelled a planned rally Saturday at a field under the shadow of the Golden Gate Bridge after he said his members received anonymous threats on social media and feared civic leaders and law enforcement would fail to protect them.

Gibson had already cancelled the event (you can read about Patriot Prayer here and here), due to the threat of violence from Democratic Party voters, yet, SF was hell bent on making sure there would be no event whatsoever by breaking California’s Constitution

  • Article I Section 2 (a) Every person may freely speak, write and publish his or her sentiments on all subjects, being responsible for the abuse of this right. A law may not restrain or abridge liberty of speech or press.
  • Section 3 (a)  The people have the right to instruct their representatives, petition government for redress of grievances, and assemble freely to consult for the common good.

That seems pretty clear, does it not? Walling off a park violates the California Constitution.

[Gibson] said Saturday in a phone interview that he felt like San Francisco’s Democratic leaders had shut him down. Earlier in the week, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee raised concerns that Patriot Prayer would attract hate speech and potential violence. U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, a fellow Democrat who represents San Francisco, called the planned rally a “white supremacist” event.

“They’re definitely doing a great job of trying to make sure my message doesn’t come out,” Gibson said.

You can almost understand why San Fran would shut the park down: because Democratic Party voters, Nancy Pelosi voters, would show up in masks with implements of violence looking to start something, all because someone else wanted to engage in their California and U.S. Free Speech rights.

According to Gibson, they will be in Berkeley Sunday. We’ll see if Leftists are able to suppress their violence, and whether the police work to keep the Leftists peaceful.

Bummer: EPA Stops Sponsoring Hotcoldwetdry Awards

What they should do is give participation trophies to Warmists who give up their own use of fossil fuels, hair dryers, washing machines, dish washers, who only buy locally and grow their own food, who unplug every appliance when not in use, who take 2 minute showers, and just go carbon neutral. Of course, there would be very few handed out

EPA cancels sponsorship of awards for climate leadership

The Environmental Protection Agency has dropped its sponsorship of a climate change awards program co-sponsored by two environmental organizations.

“The Agency has decided to discontinue the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) involvement with the 2018 Climate Leadership Awards program,” the EPA said on its website.

“This includes canceling the 2018 Climate Leadership Awards as well as EPA’s sponsorship of the Climate Leadership Conference.”

The awards program recognizes organizations and individuals that take steps to address climate change. It also awards organizations that publicly report their greenhouse gas production levels and reduction efforts.

In other words, these were awards for groups that spread awareness and said all the RightThink things, regardless of their actual actions.

The EPA should support protecting the environment, not hardcore radical authoritarian beliefs like anthropogenic climate change.

Say No To Marxism Event Cancelled, Organizer Destroys Antifa/Left Wing “Protesters”

As one would expect, the utterly biased news outlets proclaimed that the planned rallies in San Francisco and Berkely were deemed as “white supremacist” rallies, which was a typical load of Progressive #Resist mule fritters. Now

(LA Times) Citing potential violence, organizers of right-wing rallies this weekend in San Francisco and Berkeley have canceled the events, but officials in both cities were still preparing for clashes between demonstrators and counter-protesters.

Joey Gibson, founder of the Patriot Prayer group, had planned to hold a “Freedom Rally” at Crissy Field Beach in San Francisco. He told The Times last week that his group was not “white supremacist” but that he feared extreme or racist figures might try to co-opt his event, a concern shared by experts who track hate groups.

No police officers were allowed to have the day off. The obvious common theme here is that Democrat Party voters would show up and create trouble.

After the cancellation of Saturday’s event, focus shifted to Sunday’s “No to Marxism in America” rally in Berkeley, which has been home to a number of political clashes this year. Violent protests on the UC Berkeley campus shut down an appearance by Milo Yiannopoulos in February, and subsequent demonstrations in support of Trump collapsed into roving street fights.

As of Saturday morning, the event’s Facebook page listed the rally as canceled. The organizer, Amber Cummings, said in a Facebook message to The Times Friday that she was “asking that no one come to my event.”

Cummings is a transgendered Trump support. Here’s the beginning of her message, read the rest at the links

To the press and to the people,

I am releasing this statement to inform the people that I am asking that no one come to my event “No to Marxism in America” Being held in Berkeley California at 1pm August 27th at MLK Park. In light of all the violent threats taking place and the past history of police being ordered to stand down at Prior Rallies in Berkeley this gives me grave concerns for the safety of the people attending my event. My event seems to have lost its meaning in the press and the intent seems to not be getting out there. My event is to speak out against the political violence happening to people who do not agree with Marxist ideology and I wanted to point out that people are being attacked In a ruthless violent manor by thugs like Antifa and BAMN.

This all needs to stop and we need the violence to come to an end. I have concerns that Antifa and BAMN will attack my people attending the event and in good conscience I cannot risk this happening. I am asking the people to not attend this event Sunday and I apologize for this. I just feel that terrorist groups like Antifa and BAMN are trying to incite riots and violence I will not let them succeed.

That being said I stress DO NOT ATTEND THIS RALLY PLEASE. This rally will take place, but it will be me alone attending, no one else please. The city of Berkeley will not allow us protective gear to protect ourselves from objects thrown at our people like and this is one if my many concerns. Past experience shows that Antifa has thrown rocks, m80 explosives, and many other dangerous items that could kill a person and without some protective gear that might happen and that concerns me. Antifa is people that do not care who they attack. They attack our veterans, our police, elderly, and they do not care who they attack and act like violent terrorists and I cannot and will not allow innocent people to be hurt or subjected to this violence. People come to rallies in these cities with the expectation they will be safe and the police will be allowed to do there jobs. In the past that has not been so and police were ordered to stand down.

Cummings is giving in to the Heckler’s Veto, but, then, the threat of violence from Leftist forces is not hypothetical nor academic, especially in a place like Berkeley (which lauds itself about being peaceful. Sic), and especially when the police like to hang back. This is Liberal World.

And the media and Democratic Party leaders are doing nothing to get the violence from Democratic Party voters to stop. They are, in effect, giving tacit approval.

Hurricane Harvey Is Racist Or Something

There are plenty of articles, opinion pieces, Tweets, and blog posts discussing Hurricane Harvey and anthropogenic climate change. Those were anticipated. The NY Times and Washington Post both take soft approaches on the subject. We have to head to the Daily Kos for the dumbest hot take (so far)

From the article by Excitable Kelly Macias

Southeast Texas and the coastal bend regions of the state are expected to be the hardest hit. While Hispanics make up about 40 percent of the state’s population, Texas has one of the largest black populations in the country.  And they live concentrated in the areas that are predicted to be hardest hit. For example, several counties have already been declared a state of disaster by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott.

Jefferson County is 34 percent black. Other counties, like Harris, Galveston, Jasper, Colorado have black populations between 13-20 percent. Collectively, black people are the most populous minority in Southeast Texas though they are scattered around. This demographic data is important because it tells the story of who is likely to be impacted. In short, this hurricane is going to do incredible damage to the areas where black people live and many aren’t in positions to evacuate or financially withstand the impact.

Excitable Kelly continues on with stats for a bit, ending with

Roughly 1,400 died because of Katrina. Most of them were poor, elderly and black. Almost ten years later, the city had nearly 100,000 less black residents and their incomes were substantially less than before the hurricane. Meanwhile, the white population had decreased slightly but was wealthier. Child poverty was at 40 percent and violent crime remained persistent. The city may be considered “recovered” but it continues to have deep inequality along race and class lines. Texas and Hurricane Harvey aren’t likely to be exceptions. And since no one is even talking about the potential racial and socio-economic impact of this storm, it’s doubtful that local and government officials will be thinking about it during the clean up, either.

This is the way Progressives think. Race race race. Everything is about race. No one is really thinking of the way Hispanics are being affected. Nor whites. Nor any Asians. Because the rest of us just think about them as “people.” But, in Liberal World, Blacks are apparently too stupid and incompetent to take care of themselves, and can only accomplish anything with the Helping Hand Of Government. That’s racist.

Warmists Freak Over Removal Of “Change” From Government Websites

It’s literally the worst thing Evah!

(Daily Caller)  Activists characterized a federal agency’s decision to scrape the term climate “change” from its website as a type of “cleansing,” even though the agency contends the alteration is minor.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Science changed a headline on its website from “Climate Change and Human Health,” to “Climate and Human Health,” according to a report Wednesday from the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative, a nonprofit group that tracks what it calls threats to federal policy on environmental issues.

NIH’s website contained other minor changes. It replaced a menu tittle that read “Climate Change and Children’s Health” to “Climate and Children’s Health.” Activist groups believe the alterations are akin to a type of whitewashing of climate science.

“The cleansing continues,” David Doniger, an executive director at the Natural Resources Defense Council, told reporters. “But they’re not going to be able to erase the science, or the truth, by scrubbing websites.”

And Warmists will make sure the science isn’t erased by taking lots and lots of fossil fueled trips.

Here’s a smattering of headlines

Purged. Well, OK then. Guess what, Warmists? You’ve lost. Trump is president, and the GOP controls Congress. Want to do something? Do it in your own lives. Move to Dem run cities and states, and tell them to Do Something. And make sure to live under the higher costs you advocated for.
