Warmist Letter To Child Describes World Without Hikes, Fun At Beach, And Just Doom

I’m hoping this excitable member of the Cult of Climastrology places the letter somewhere where the child will find it in 2051 so that the kid goes “what in the hell was the matter with my dad and his Comrades?

A Letter to My Child on a Changing Planet

To my five-year-old son:

By the time you’re my age, the year will be 2051. I don’t know what the planet will look like. And that scares me.

Today, it’s obvious that nature is changing too fast, too much. Of course, nature’s not the culprit. We are. Humans. Your parents, your grandparents, and so many generations who came before us.

We’ve been selfish and careless. We’ve forgotten to think about the future. We’ve screwed up the environment with our plastic water bottles and our massive landfills, and most of all, our fossil fuels.

Dear Gorg: I’m sorry that the fossil fueled cars we drove ended the ice age. Our bad

What am I fighting for? I want you to share these four moments with your own kids, in 2051.

1. Hikes in the woods, among the trees and the bluebells, deer peeking out at you through the brush, birdsong floating all around us. I want you and your kids to love to explore the woods. Climate change causes droughts and forest fires. It threatens our whole ecosystem in countless ways, endangering too many species, particularly bees and butterflies and other pollinators (which are vital to our eco-system). I will fight for your future forests.

2. Fun at the beach. The beach is my favorite thing in the world, other than you and your dad. I’m in awe of the vastness of the ocean. As I dig my toes into the sand, I feel connected to the Earth. Like I belong. I want you to have those long, lazy summer days at the beach, swimming and body surfing, stretching out on a towel to read a book, and building sandcastle after sandcastle. But climate change threatens beaches, with tides rising and coastlines eroding, whole cities disappearing. I will fight for your future beach days.

Also, lazy summer days will be a thing of the past. And

3. Snow. I remember taking you out in the snow for the first time. It was magical. I want you to experience that same magic with your children. But as temperatures soar, winters in many parts of the world will be under siege. Winter freezes could shrink or disappear. I will fight for your future snowball fights.

It’ll be a thing of the past. Except when heat trapping greenhouse gases make winter freezes.

The good news is that it’s not too late. We can change our ways. We can give you a wonderful future.

We can demand clean energy. We can conserve energy. And recycle. And compost. And clean up litter. And eat less meat. And use public transportation. And drive cars that pollute less.

All these big and little choices make a difference. If we all do our parts to help — and if our governments do theirs — we can give you a beautiful, healthy planet in 2051. Along the way, we can teach our children how to make good choices, how to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

Have you ever been to one of their protests or marches? Any left side one? They leave tons of litter behind (when they aren’t creating smog through burning things). And few give up meat. Nor give up their own fossil fueled vehicles. And Common Dreams writer Norah Vawter forgets to tell us how she’s given up her own use of fossil fuels, gone carbon neutral, and done the other things mention.

Unhinged City Council Votes To Remove Donald Trump’s Star

Add the West Hollywood City Council to the list of those utterly unhinged over Donald Trump

(WRAL) The West Hollywood City Council has unanimously approved a resolution seeking to remove President Donald Trump’s star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The resolution urges the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Los Angeles to remove the star because of what it says is Trump’s “disturbing treatment of women and other actions.”

However, chamber president Leron Gubler tells the Los Angeles Times the chamber has never removed a star because it’s considered part of the walk’s “historic fabric.”

Monday’s vote came after a man accused of taking a pickax to the star last month was charged with a felony count of vandalism. The star was previously vandalized days before the November 2016 election.

The reasoning behind this is simply a smokescreen to cover for Trump Derangement Syndrome, as you could find plenty of stars with a star on the Walk of Fame who have done far worse then make a few sexist remarks. Bing Crosby has been accused of being abusive to women and his children. How about Bill Cosby? Leron Gubler, president and chief executive of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, stated about his star being removed “The answer is no. Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”

Oliver Stone has defended Hitler and gone on anti-Jew rants. Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old cousin. How about Arnold Schwarzenegger and his groping accusations? Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle was accused of rape, which led to a woman’s death. You could find lots and lots of folks with stars that are still there.

Further, someone pays $30,000 for those stars: will the West Hollywood City Council reimburse whomever paid for Trump’s star? Most likely the Chamber of Commerce will not remove it. This is just a way for the city council to proudly stand up with #Resistance and stuff.

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Ct) Wants Tech Companies To Censor Speech He Doesn’t Like

This should disturb everyone. Whether you’re Republican or Democrat, you should be for free speech. And what is free speech? Look at the tag line for this little blog: “If we don’t believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don’t believe in it at all.” That was be uber-Leftist Noam Chomsky. He also wrote “Goebbels was in favor of free speech for views he liked. So was Stalin. If you’re really in favor of free speech, then you’re in favor of freedom of speech for precisely the views you despise. Otherwise, you’re not in favor of free speech.”

It isn’t for speech we approve of. Are there limits? Sure. When you’re threatening people with violence. Who has a problem with ISIS and al Qaeda sites being shut down? But, this was about Infowars and Alex Jones being removed from social media platforms, simply because they are pretty wacko. And how does a sitting U.S. Senator, who took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, respond?

Democrats brand everything that doesn’t accord with their beliefs as “hate”. And rather than rebutting it, they want to censor it. Shut it down. Those of us on the right could say there’s lots of hate emanating from the left towards us. But, we do not attempt to shut them down, because we believe in free speech. It’s vastly disturbing that Chris Murphy would advocate for companies to censor users like this. It may not violate the letter of the 1st Amendment, but it sure violates the spirit.

There’s quite a bit of support for Chris’ call for acting like the Chinese government, and then there’s tweets like this (more at Twitchy)

InfoWars app still in Google, Apple stores after companies move against other content

Big tech made a show on Sunday night and Monday of moving against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his media company InfoWars. But Apple and Google are both still selling its app, which contains some of the same type of content that both tech giants have pulled from elsewhere on their platforms.

Both stores categorize InfoWars as “news.” On the Apple App Store, InfoWars’ app has gone as high as #23 among free news apps, ahead of offerings from legitimate news outlets like the Associated Press, CBS News, USA Today, NPR, Bloomberg, MSNBC, Washington Post, NBC News, Politico and the Financial Times.

InfoWars and Jones regularly traffic in conspiracy theories, including the claim that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a hoax and that the September 11, 2001 terror attacks were an inside job.

It’s also disturbing that a major media outlet would be narcing in a way meant to get Infowars and Jones pulled. Because of wacky conspiracy theories. Ones which really do not do more than, at worst, cause a few people some hurt feelings.

California City Soon To Be Sued Over Age Restriction For Law Abiding Rifle Purchases

Under California law cities really do not have the statutory authority to do this. Oh, and this is just another nail in the “we’re not trying to ban guns, just keep them out of the hands of criminals” talking point

(Mercury News) Starting next month, no one younger than 21 will be allowed to buy a semi-automatic centerfire rifle from any of Sunnyvale’s five gun shops.

In the wake of school shootings around the nation, the City Council this week unanimously decided to raise the minimum age for buying guns from 18 to 21, making Sunnyvale the first city in Santa Clara County to do so. (Snip)

Hendricks acknowledged Sunnyvale is a safe city, a point underscored by city spokeswoman Jennifer Garnett, who noted that of the 28 reported aggravated assaults that took place between April and June, only two involved the use of a firearm.

So, this isn’t about criminals

Sam Paredes, executive director of Gun Owners of California, said he thinks the city is opening itself up to a lawsuit. He said Sunnyvale’s ordinance, which would go into effect in mid-September following its official adoption on Aug. 14, is unlawful under state and federal law.

“They’re insincere and inconsistent in trying to address the deaths of young people,” Paredes said. “This is not going to stop any school violence; what this is going to go after is youth trap and skeet shooting teams.”

And, you can see the gun stores leaving the town, taking all their tax money with them.

We’re All Totally Climate Refugees Now Or Something

It’s summer, so, the insanity from the Cult of Climastrology is at peak performance

This is from Project Syndicate, “The World’s Opinion Page”. Yeah, ok. From the link

Modern humans, born into one climate era, called the Holocene, have crossed the border into another, the Anthropocene. But instead of a Moses guiding humanity in this new and dangerous wilderness, a gang of science deniers and polluters currently misguides humanity to ever-greater danger. We are all climate refugees now and must chart a path to safety.

The Holocene was the geological age that started more than 10,000 years ago, with favorable climate conditions that supported human civilization as we know it. The Anthropocene is a new geological era with environmental conditions that humanity has never before experienced. Ominously, the Earth’s temperature is now higher than during the Holocene, owing to the carbon dioxide that humanity has emitted into the atmosphere by burning coal, oil, and gas, and by indiscriminately turning the world’s forests and grasslands into farms and pastures.

People are suffering and dying in the new environment, with much worse to come. Hurricane Maria is estimated to have taken more than 4,000 lives in Puerto Rico last September. High-intensity hurricanes are becoming more frequent, and major storms are causing more flooding, because of the increased heat transfer from the warming waters of the oceans, the greater moisture in warmer air, and the rise in sea levels – all made more extreme by human-induced climate change.

Right. It appears as if Maria was the strongest storm to strike the island since….the Category 4 all the way back in 1932, when CO2 was below the “safe” level of 350ppm. Anyhow, Jeffrey D. Sachs continues his screed, highlighting that it….gets hot in the summer, fearmongering as usual, before ending with

We need a new kind of politics that starts with a clear global goal: environmental safety for the planet’s people, by fulfilling the Paris climate agreement, protecting biodiversity, and cutting pollution, which kills millions each year. The new politics will listen to scientific and technological experts, not self-interested business leaders and narcissistic politicians. Climatologists enable us to gauge the rising dangers. Engineers inform us how to make the rapid transition, by 2050, to zero-carbon energy. Ecologists and agronomists show us how to grow more and better crops on less land while ending deforestation and restoring previously degraded land.

Such a politics is possible. In fact, the public yearns for it. A large majority of the American people, for example, want to fight global warming, stay in the Paris climate agreement, and embrace renewable energy. Yet, as long as a narrow and ignorant elite condemn Americans and the rest of humanity to wander aimlessly in the political desert, the more likely it is that we will all end up in a wasteland from which there will be no escape.

Funny how he doesn’t truly describe that “new kind of politics” specifically. He whines about companies who dare to attempt to make a profit along with the use of fossil fuels, but, what, exactly, does he mean? If you’re not willing to specifically describe those “new politics”, might it be because you know people won’t like them?

Democrats Wonder How Unhinged Left They Can Go And Still Win In Kansas

What Democrats are really doing is wondering how super far-left they can let people know they really are and still win, or, should they still pretend to be sorta centrish. There are still plenty of people who are just plain old Democrats, ones like Joe Manchin, ones who are still Blue Dog Democrats, even though the majority of them have been voted out in favor of the more moonbat Progressives

Democrats in Kansas weigh how far left the party can go and win in the Trump era

Democrats in the Kansas City suburbs are set to decide on Tuesday what type of candidate they believe can win in a red state during Donald Trump’s presidency.

The House primary in Kansas’ 3rd District is a microcosm of the ideological battles playing out in the Democratic Party in House races this year and ahead of the 2020 presidential election, when the same battles will be front and center.

It pits a candidate running far to the left against someone trying to appeal to the center. There’s also a woman vying to become the first openly lesbian Native American in Congress.

The winner will take on Republican Rep. Kevin Yoder, who represents the district that Hillary Clinton won by 1 point in 2016.

The Democratic primary is a six-way free-for-all. Democrats say they believe at least three candidates have a shot at winning — and they have no idea who’s ahead.

So, is it the big government, fascist Progressive? The person pretending to appeal to the center? Or the identity politics babe?

On the left is labor lawyer Brent Welder, who rallied recently with Vermont’s independent Sen. Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Welder has campaigned for single-payer “Medicare for all” health insurance, a $15-an-hour minimum wage and other progressive priorities.

“You have to convince them and you have to be honest about a progressive, populist economic platform, so that they don’t get lured away by right-wing social wedge issues like they did by Donald Trump,” Welder said in an interview. “And I think the Democratic Party for far too long has been straying from a bold, populist economic message. That’s the reason we keep losing.”

In some Democrat districts they’re enthused about investing more and more power in the hands of the central government while being promised free stuff paid for by Other People. They’re super excited about the Nanny State and all sorts of failed ideas we see in socialist counties. And, wait, they’ve been telling us that Medicare for all isn’t single-payer: did CNN just let the cat out of the bag?

“They’re pretty centrist in their positions,” Niermann said of voters in the district. “They have a great value that they place on good government that is responsive to the needs of people in the community.”

His positions are similar to Welder’s, but Niermann says that while he supports Medicare for all conceptually and as a long-term solution, he favors bipartisan efforts to reduce health care costs in the short term and with a divided Washington.

So, Niermann believes in the same things as Welder, he’s just attempting to soft-peddle it and appear centrist. Lying. Perfect.

Surprise: Cult Links Flesh Eating Bacteria To You Driving A Fossil Fueled Vehicle

Another day, another fearmongering, unhinged, we’re all doomed article

The Link Between Climate Change and ‘Flesh-Eating’ Bacteria

It’s that time of the year again: when the weather is warm, and people are swarming the beach. That means it’s also the time of year when doctors see a sharp rise in a certain type of “flesh-eating” bacterial infections called vibriosis.

These infections are caused by Vibrio bacteria, which thrive in warm, coastal seawater and often infect widely consumed shellfish species, like oysters. Scientists warn that as climate change causes an increase in sea surface temperatures and a rise in sea levels, Vibrio infections will become more common. This is because warmer, rising waters create an even more welcoming evironment for the deadly pathogen. (snip)

The CDC says that 80 percent of Vibrio infections occur between May and October, when coastal water is warmest. But as coastal water temperatures increase globally, so are cases of Vibrio infections.

“We’re seeing more of these infections early on in the season and later in the season,” said Craig Baker-Austin, a marine microbiologist at the Centre for Environment Fisheries and Aquaculture Science in the United Kingdom. (snip)

Baker-Austin told Live Science that with climate change, “we’re also seeing more extreme weather events, and those can play a big role” in Vibrioproliferation. For example, he said, after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, there was a lot of salt water and fresh water mixed together, and people were wading through it. Because of that, Baker-Austin said, there was a marked increase in vibriosis cases in the region.

Missing is any offered proof that this is mostly/solely caused by Mankind, but, that’s the norm. The Cult of Climastrology just assumes this, which is the opposite of science, and in contradiction to all the previous Holocene warm periods.

But as Austin-Baker said, “There’s more people living by the sea, more people coming into contact with seawater and more people with underlying risk conditions.” Those factors, together with the overall trend of warming seawater and rising seas, mean these heat-loving bacteria are likely to continue to cause more and more vibriosis cases every year. But understanding the risks of infection and taking the appropriate steps to avoid those risks can prevent infection and save your life.

We can fix this with a tax. That’ll stop the sea temps from skyrocketing from 60.9F to 60.94F
