Story That Will Soon Disappear: “Immigrant” Murdered Mollie Tibbetts

The local and national media have been all over the story of Mollie Tibbetts, who disappeared. You can bet the story will disappear after today

Immigrant charged with murder of Iowa college student

A man from Mexico living in the U.S. illegally has confessed to kidnapping college student Mollie Tibbetts while she was running in her small Iowa hometown, killing her and dumping her body in a rural field, authorities said Tuesday.

Cristhian Bahena Rivera, 24, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tibbetts, whose July 18 disappearance set off a massive search involving state and federal authorities.

Rivera led investigators early Tuesday to a body believed to be Tibbetts in a cornfield about 12 miles (19 kilometers) southeast of Brooklyn, Iowa, where Tibbetts was last seen running, Division of Criminal Investigation special agent Rick Rahn said.

“I can’t speak about the motive. I can just tell you that it seemed that he followed her, seemed to be drawn to her on that particular day, for whatever reason he chose to abduct her,” Rahn told reporters at a news conference outside the sheriff’s office in Montezuma, where Rivera was being jailed.

CNN refers to Rivera as an “undocumented immigrant“, as you’d expect. So does ABC News, along with NBC News. CBS uses language similar to the above, which is from the AP. Many sites, such as the HuffPost and UK Guardian US edition, aren’t even bothering with a story. Nor is the NY Times, at least on the front page of the web edition.

The media was really hoping it would be the white, older farmer. Now, they have to bury the story. And yet another family has to go through the pain of loss because our government won’t do their damned job in stopping illegals and deporting illegals.

“Protesters” Tear Down, Destroy Statue, No One Is Arrested

Look, I’m not one who supports the Silent Sam statue. For instance

https://twitter.com/MBarberWSOC9/status/1031857259826106368

Of course, it doesn’t mean that this is what the statue is about. And UNC’s Chancellor is not happy

Unlawful and dangerous: UNC chancellor on ‘Silent Sam’ toppling

Protesters on Monday night toppled the controversial “Silent Sam” statue on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

More than 200 protesters first gathered at the Peace and Justice Plaza at about 7 p.m., before marching to the base of the statue, calling for its removal. By 9:30 p.m., the statue was on the ground and the crowd erupted in cheers.

They tore it down and heavily damaged it.

Here’s the thing: no one was arrested. The police stood aside as property was damaged and destroyed. You may not agree with the statue, but, we cannot simply arbitrarily destroy property we do not like in this manner. Are we a nation of law or a nation of whim? One person was arrested on other charges, but, no stopped the destruction of public property. Will the Chancellor do anything to those who are identified? Doubtful.

Person Decides To Tear Down Home Rather Than Sell Because You Ate A Cheeseburger

This is climahysteria at its finest

Sea level rise is already costing property owners on the coast

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Elizabeth Boineau’s 1939 Colonial sits a block and a half from the Ashley River in a sought-after neighborhood of ancient live oaks, charming gardens and historic homes. A year ago, she thought she could sell it for nearly $1 million. But after dropping the price 11 times, Boineau has decided to tear it down.

In March, the city’s Board of Architectural Review approved the demolition — a decision not taken lightly in Charleston’s historic district.

“Each time that I was just finishing up paying off the bills, another flood would hit,” Boineau said.

Boineau is one of many homeowners on the front lines of society’s confrontation with climate change, living in houses where rising sea levels have worsened flooding not just in extreme events like hurricanes, but also heavy rains and even high tides. Now, three studies have found evidence that the threat of higher seas is also undermining coastal property values as home buyers — particularly investors — begin the retreat to higher ground.

If you’re building in a spot that is just barely above sea level, then you’re asking for problems. Just building next to water you’re taking a risk.

On a broad scale, the effect is subtle, the studies show. The sea has risen about eight inches since 1900, and the pace is accelerating, with three inches accumulating since 1993, according to a comprehensive federal climate report released last year. Scientists predict the oceans will rise an additional three to seven inches by 2030, and as much as 4.3 feet by 2100.

First, the report was based on some rather shoddy science. Next up, 8 inches of sea rise over almost 120 years is exactly average during the last 7,000-8,000 years, a period measured after the end of the great meltwater from the end of the last ice age. As I’ve noted numerous times, to get that average you’d need quite a bit more sea rise during the warm periods. The Charleston tide gauge shows 3.25mm per year, equivalent to 1.07 feet per 100 years, nor does it show any acceleration. 4.3 feet by 2100 is just scaremongering.

By comparing properties that are virtually the same but for their exposure to the seas, researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Pennsylvania State University found that vulnerable homes sold for 6.6 percent less than unexposed homes. The most vulnerable properties — those that stand to be flooded after seas rise by just one foot — were selling at a 14.7 percent discount, according to the study, which is set to be published in the Journal of Financial Economics.

Keep reading way down

Indeed, beachfront property is not necessarily declining in value. Rather, the studies suggest that more-exposed properties — including properties that have not yet experienced direct flooding — simply are not appreciating as rapidly as their inland neighbors.

Indeed, beachfront property has already increased so much that it’s hard to go up much more. There are homes along the New Jersey shore where I grew up where the city council’s had to grandfather in lower property values for tax purposes, because the retired folks who bought them decades before wouldn’t be able to afford the property tax. Homes were jumping from a couple hundred thousand to millions in short order.

And, as far as the home mentioned at the beginning? The story finally notes that it is in a very low lying area, as is most of Charleston. It was flooded out multiple times, especially from tropical systems, so, it was damaged a bit. Hence, it was very much over-priced.

But this is still all your fault.

Illegal Alien Dreamers Cycle For Citizenship Or Something

These Dreamers had their chance: President Trump offered a plan that would have legalized three times the number of DACA recipients, all in exchange for border wall funding. Democrats gave a resounding “no.”

Dreamers cycle down west coast to fight U.S. immigration policy

A journey to justice – that’s what a group of young immigration activists are calling their cycling trip down the West Coast.

The group, named the Dream Riders, started cycling south from Seattle 20 days ago and just arrived in San Francisco. They have 16 more days and 800 more miles of cycling to go, until they reach San Diego, their final destination.

Hana says her family immigrated to the U.S. from Korea when she was a child. She’s now a college student riding to raise awareness that all immigrant communities deserve equal opportunity. “I just keep reminding myself, I’m doing this for my community. But I wish I could have done more training before this!”

“I’m Mexican-American, I’ve seen my family targeted, but I also know there are other groups that are vulnerable to deportation,” said Allyson Duarte who is from the Texas border town of McAllen, where many of the ICE detention centers are located. She’s a DACA recipient and immigration activist. “The point of this campaign, is we wanted to emphasize the need for citizenship for everybody.”

First of all, to hell with your fight. You aren’t citizens. You do not get to dictate how the United States runs its immigration programs. If you have a problem with this, go yell at mom and/or dad who brought you to the U.S. illegally, putting you in this position.

Second, you do not get to demand citizenship for everybody. You do not get to demand citizenship for yourself. You should be out there on your knees saying “please.” Be humble and thankful, rather than slurring the US and her citizens. Then there’s this schmuck who was dragged from Mexico to New Jersey by her mother when she was 3, both entering the U.S. illegally

Mr. President, I’m a DACA recipient, please don’t use me as brick in your Wall | Opinion

President Donald Trump has said that the future of DACA – and, more importantly, the path to citizenship for the more than 800,000 people who came to the U.S. illegally as children – hinges on increased border security, particularly the construction of a border wall. Meanwhile, Democrats have expressed the need for increased border security, but vowed not to support the construction of a wall. (snip)

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, I think that it is unfair to use DACA recipients as bargaining chips in these ongoing negotiations. At worst, it is cruel and inhumane. At best, it holds children accountable for choices that were made not of their own volition. And in many instances, these children would not become aware of these made choices until many years – sometimes decades – later.

It doesn’t matter what you think is fair and unfair: you’re here illegally. You do not get that choice. You do not get to dictate. Your parents, in this case, your mom, put you in the situation. Someone has to be held accountable. Tell you what: you tell mom to get out of our country, and we’ll consider legalizing you. Because someone has to be held accountable.

There was a not-so-distant time ago when I, too, was scared to let anyone know my DACA status. I also didn’t know the power of my words, and it is time for others to realize the power of theirs.

Call your legislators and tell them to recognize the faces – the actual lives – of those seeking their rightful citizenship in a country that, for many of us, is the only one we have ever known.

The more these illegals demand citizenship, the more people will turn away. If your child is demanding a toy, do you give it to them?

EPA Announces Plan To Formally Abandon Obama’s Clean Power Plan

Yet another one of Obama’s “legacies” will soon be down the tubes

(The Hill) Acting Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler signed off on a proposal Monday to reverse a landmark Obama-era measure that placed restrictions on the coal industry in an effort to curb greenhouse gas emissions, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The news outlet reviewed a copy of the long-expected proposal, which would do away with restrictions on coal plants and leave regulation of the industry up to the states. The Trump administration’s plan would also curb mandates requiring coal plants to overhaul technology, and would allow the plants to produce energy with less fuel.

“The entire Obama administration plan was centered around doing away with coal,” Wheeler told The Wall Street Journal in an interview.

President Trump is expected to formally announce the measure on Tuesday during a stop in West Virginia. The president has often railed against the “war on coal,” and has pledged to revitalize the industry, reversing course from the Obama administration’s efforts to pivot toward renewable energy sources.

Critics have raised concerns that the Trump administration’s rules will significantly weaken efforts to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

Well, yeah, because they haven’t proven that Mankind’s output of GHGs is making much of a difference on the climate. Further, Obama’s CPP isn’t making a difference, since it hasn’t actually taken effect, as 26 states sued and the plan was legally put on hold. Of course, there are a few that are suing because Team Trump announced that they were looking to toast the CPP, forgetting that what one POTUS puts in with his pen another can get rid of.

Now, as I have stated numerous times, I’m not a big fan of coal. I would like to see these plants replaced with newer generation nuclear plants and natural gas plants. Wind and solar are too unreliable and have too large a footprint. Hydro requires large damns and only work in certain areas. Plus, the same enviroweenies will often sue to stop solar, wind, and hydro projects.

Summer Weather Is Getting Stuck Due To You Taking A 5+ Minute Shower

It’s getting harder and harder for anyone to take these Climalarmists seriously anymore. This has moved so far away from anything relating to science that we may as well think of this as a cozy mystery, or one of the new crop of science fiction books that are essentially women’s softcore porn (and I’m tired of having to see the covers as I scroll through scifi and horror while looking for new books)

Summer weather is getting ‘stuck’ due to Arctic warming

Summer weather patterns are increasingly likely to stall in Europe, North America and parts of Asia, according to a new climate study that explains why Arctic warming is making heatwaves elsewhere more persistent and dangerous.

Rising temperatures in the Arctic have slowed the circulation of the jet stream and other giant planetary winds, says the paper, which means high and low pressure fronts are getting stuck and weather is less able to moderate itself.

The authors of the research, published in Nature Communications on Monday, warn this could lead to “very extreme extremes”, which occur when abnormally high temperatures linger for an unusually prolonged period, turning sunny days into heat waves, tinder-dry conditions into wildfires, and rains into floods.

(blah blah blah, doom and gloom)

“What happens in the Arctic doesn’t stay in the Arctic. By upsetting the energy balance of the planet we are changing the temperature gradient between the equator and the pole. This in turn sets in motion major reorganisations of the flow patterns of the atmosphere and ocean,” said Chris Rapley, professor of climate science at University College London. “The consequences are emerging and they are disruptive, and likely to become even more profoundly so. We are on a journey and the destination doesn’t look good.”

Customs And Border Protection Next Target Of Illegal Alien Supporters

The illegal alien supporting crowd was, and still is, hot to trot to get rid of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. I guess they want to stop things like this

along with many of the other non-illegal alien enforcement they’re involved in. But, now they want to go after a different agency, as we see here in the LA Times by Richard Parker

Forget ICE, the real problem is CBP

By day, helicopters fly overhead. Dusty patrol vehicles take up neighborhood parking lots. By night, klieg lights illuminate the new, 18-foot steel fence that snakes along the sand dunes. This strip of land thousands of miles long feels like occupied territory. And in a way, it is. I refer, of course, to the border between Mexico and the United States.

After the government incarcerated children in a nearby camp, critics called for the abolition of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. But the better target for elimination, or at least downsizing, is the Customs and Border Protection agency, ICE’s big, paramilitary brother. It’s bloated and riddled with corruption.

Well, sure, there have been problems within the agency, or, at least accusations of impropriety. By this measure, we should get rid of the Department Of Education due to number of teachers having sexual relations with children in their charge.

Trump isn’t going to do anything about the problem; he’d rather yell about the MS-13 gang. Besides, the once-humble patrolmen on horseback are now certified members of the national security industrial complex. The taxpayer is paying the giant contractor, Accenture, $300 million to recruit 5,000 more officers. Only the next Congress can do something. Maybe.

Right, because MS-13 members are just saints, right?

Abolish ICE? That’s just a start.

These people will do anything to get rid of enforcement of our borders. Expect this abolish CBP push to grow. And this is the kind of thing that got Trump elected, and helps with his re-election.

Thanks, Obama: Concealed Carry Permits Have Skyrocketed Over Past Decade

Mr. Obama wanted to skyrocket the cost of energy: instead, he’s really the gun salesman of the decade

(Daily Caller) The number of concealed carry weapons (CCW) permits is soaring to new levels despite the rabid anti-gun activism following a slew of school shootings over the past year.

Issued CCW permits increased approximately 275 percent over a ten-year period, from 4.6 million permits in 2007 to over 17.25 permits in 2018, according to a study released Friday by the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC). The number has been increasing year over year and is forecast to continue trending upwards.

The most notable demographic increase was found to be among women and minorities. During the aforementioned time period, CCW issuance jumped 111 percent faster for women than for men. Moreover, compared to white individuals, permits for Asian and black individuals spiked 29 percent and 20 percent quicker, respectively.

“That increase in women and minorities mirrors their changing views on guns,” John Lott, the founder of the CPRC, told Fox News. “A poll by [the] Pew [Research Center] helps to explain why there has been such a large increase in concealed handgun permits among blacks and women. The poll shows a 25 percentage point increase in the proportion of blacks with a favorable view of gun ownership. This is the largest increase of any group.”

Why did this happen? It is surely linked to the massive increase in firearms purchases during the Obama years, especially for handguns, as Obama and Democrats have constantly pushed for more restrictions on law abiding citizens. And when people purchase handguns, a large chunk will say “hey, I might as well get a CCW so I can carry if I want to.” Seeing the rising violence around the country in Democrats run cities surely emboldened citizens to get those CCWs. Knowing that police are loathe to get involved because they’ll be demonized by Democrats and their pet media surely caused many to get CCWs.

Funny, a massive spike in gun ownership and CCW permits is Obama’s legacy. I wonder if he’ll put this in his presidential library? Since most of the rest of his legacy has been reversed.
