Your Fault: Cities Sinking Under Weight Of Buildings

Somehow this is all linked to ‘climate change’

Cities Sinking Under The Weight Of Their Buildings

climate change joke

The Empire State Building, erected in 1931, weighs 365,000 tons — a relatively modest figure by today’s standards, since it isn’t even close to being the tallest building in New York City anymore. The skyline is now dominated by residential towers with apartments sold to billionaires. Still, the Empire State Building’s weight hints at just how much mass the island of Manhattan carries, and that weight is one reason the island is slowly sinking into the water around it. New York is only one of several major cities facing a problem that grows more serious every year.

There’s a scientific term for this sinking: subsidence. Scientists define it as the gradual sinking or settling of the ground surface, usually because material beneath it shifts, compacts, or is removed. Subsidence can have several causes: mining beneath a city (including subway construction), the extraction of groundwater (which creates a kind of underground drought), weak underlying rock such as limestone, the removal of soil and rock to build foundations for huge structures, and simply the sheer weight of buildings pressing down on the ground over time. Together, these factors explain why some of the world’s largest cities are slowly sinking lower and lower. In places like New Orleans, where part of the city already sits below sea level, subsidence makes an already precarious situation even worse.

I mean, this is nothing new: there land subsidence in NYC of about 1-2mm per year post glacial period. Lower Manhattan is not built on bedrock like middle to upper Manhattan. There’s the notion that all the buildings “add roughly 1.68 trillion pounds of pressure.” Oh, hey, Climate Crisis 247 even mentions all this in their article

Among US cities, New York’s situation is extraordinary. A 2023 USGS study found that New York City’s roughly one million buildings weigh an estimated 1.68 trillion pounds. The combined mass of these buildings pushes the ground down, contributing to subsidence of 1 to 2 millimeters per year on average. In areas like Queens, where heavy storms already cause flooding, the problem is especially severe — and these floods will eventually render parts of the city uninhabitable.

New York’s problem is compounded by rising sea levels driven by global warming and melting polar ice. Columbia University geophysicist Jacky Austermann wrote, according to Scientific American, that most people think of sea-level rise purely in terms of melting ice, but that’s only part of the story at any given location — land subsidence, whatever its cause, is another major factor. As she put it, whether the land is sinking or the sea is rising, the flooding effect at the shoreline is the same.

Sigh. You just had to know that cult business would show up, right? The Battery, at the tip of Manhattan, shows 2.95 millimeters/year increase, equivalent to 0.97 feet in 100 years, which is below what should be occurring during a Holocene warm period.

One of America’s fastest-growing cities, Miami’s population rose from 249,276 in 1950 to 489,801 today, according to Census figures. A University of Miami estimate — one that many have disputed, but which nonetheless underscores the scale of the risk — projects an additional 11 to 22 inches of sea-level rise by 2060, and 28 to 57 inches (roughly the height of a car) by 2100. If accurate, about two-thirds of the city could be below sea level by 2060. Much of Miami sits on porous limestone, hemmed in by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Everglades on the other. The city has weathered several hurricanes over the past half-century, each pushing storm surges ashore, and the rapid rise in large-scale construction has made Miami one of the US cities considered most at risk for subsidence-driven flooding.

Miami’s sea rise is 1.05 feet per hundred years. Not 11-22 inches in a bit over 30 years.

Unlike most cities on this list, Houston isn’t located near a major body of water. Even so, heavy urban development combined with groundwater and oil and gas extraction has caused parts of the metro area to sink more than 10 feet, according to the USGS. Limited and poorly maintained infrastructure — in a wet city with no zoning — makes Houston especially vulnerable to devastating floods, NBC reported.

Seriously, they took legitimate science and turned it into cult business.

EU Big Wigs Have Hissy Fit At Marco Rubio Over ICC Sanctions

Let’s not forget that the members of the European Commission are not elected by the citizens of the EU, but, appointed through a process, at which point they can dictate the way EU peasants live

EU backs top international court against Rubio

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa threw their weight behind the International Criminal Court Wednesday, after Washington announced sanctions against its president and another senior court official.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sanctioned the ICC President Tomoko Akane and senior trial lawyer Abdoulaye Seye on Tuesday, accusing the court of targeting officials from countries that reject its jurisdiction given its pursuit of Israeli officials for alleged war crimes in Gaza. While Israel and the U.S. don’t belong to the ICC, the court says it has jurisdiction over alleged crimes committed in Palestinian territories.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commended Washington’s move on Tuesday, praising Rubio and calling the ICC a “kangaroo court that cloaks its abuse of power in the language of international law.” Netanyahu, who is wanted by the court, has denied the allegations of war crimes.

In a joint statement posted on X in response to the new sanctions, von der Leyen and Costa said they “stand firmly with the [ICC], President Tomoko Akane and the officials who uphold its mission.” The court helps deliver justice to victims of some of the world’s worst crimes, they noted, and its judges and officials must be able to work “independently and without external pressure.”

Well, sure, the ICC has thrown some sanctions towards heads in Hamas, but, really, it’s all about hating on Netanyahu, Israel, and Jews

The Trump Administration has been clear: the International Criminal Court (ICC) is a corrupt and fatally politicized supranational court that has maliciously abused its authority and exceeded its mandate.  We will not tolerate its assault on state sovereignty.

In furtherance of the diplomatic campaign we launched last month to address the ICC’s abuses of power, I am designating two ICC officials – President of the ICC, Tomoko Akane of Japan, and ICC Senior Trial Lawyer, Abdoulaye Seye of Senegal – pursuant to Executive Order 14203, “Imposing Sanctions on the International Criminal Court.”  These individuals have directly engaged in efforts by the ICC to investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute officials whose government has not consented to ICC jurisdiction.

The?ICC has repeatedly attempted to assert authority over nationals of the United States and other countries that have not consented to its jurisdiction or ratified the Rome Statute.  This sets a dangerous precedent for all nations.

The ICC like so many Modern Socialist organizations hates Israel and hates Jews. They root for anyone against Israel and Jews.

Climate Doom Could Maybe Possibly We Think Be Messing With Our Blood

Oh, hey, a new one, and, of course, editor at large for Time Magazine Jeffrey Kluger just goes with it, showing zero journalistic skepticism

How Climate Change Is Messing With Your Blood

Rising carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere do a lot of damage—heat waves, droughts, wildfires, superstorms. Now it appears there’s another knock-on effect that had never before been measured. According to a new study in the journal Air Quality, Atmosphere and Health, the changing chemistry of the atmosphere could be leading to changing chemistry in our blood—with potentially dangerous effects.

If CO2 is indeed messing with our blood, it’s no wonder. During the early rise of Homo sapiens, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere measured a consistent 280 parts per million (ppm). Those conditions prevailed until roughly the middle of the 18th century when the Industrial Revolution began pouring greenhouse gasses into the air from factory smokestacks.  By 1900, CO2 levels had risen to nearly 300 ppm; by 1980, that figure had jumped to nearly 330 ppm. Since then the numbers have exploded, standing at 425 ppm today.

Because we had direct measurements for all those millions of years, right?

That’s very bad news for the health of the planet—and equally bad for the health of our bodies. Every breath we take—indoors or out—draws in more carbon dioxide than our bodies were originally adapted to cope with. To determine just what the impact of this is, environmental geoscientist Phil Bierwirth, of Australian National University in Canberra, and environmental health scientist Alexander Larcombe, of the University of Western Australia, took advantage of a 21-year survey—from 1999 to 2020—conducted by the U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), during which government investigators sampled the blood of 7,000 subjects every other year to see how the body responded to all manner of environmental pollutants.

How do we know that our bodies were originally adapted to cope with that? Do Warmists no longer believe in Darwinism? Do they realize humans breath out about 400pm of CO2 with each exhale?

What’s more, at  moment, our bodies are are doing a good job of adjusting to the level of CO2 that does exist in the armosphere—even if just barely—since most people are not experiencing the warning symptoms Larcombe describes. But the famed CO2 hockey stick—the y-axis graph that shows greenhouse gasses and global temperatures steadily rising—is pushing us ever further into the danger zone.

Sigh. This is all based on faulty science. Missing data. Computer models. Wishful thinking. Cult dogma. We really have no direct measurements even 200 years ago. And yet the cult is so worried that the vast majority make almost no changes in their lives to reduce their own carbon footprint.

Legal Alien Gets Scammed Badly By AI

I actually caught this story on ABC NY Wednesday night while visiting NJ, and there was something that really stood out to me

Legal resident loses thousands seeking citizenship to AI immigration attorney

It’s a perfect storm, where online scammers use artificial intelligence to victimize vulnerable people out of thousands of dollars, with many getting taken for their life savings and immigrants are increasingly the target.

Not only is this a high-tech scam, but the people behind it are also using the identity of a real person without his knowledge to pull it off.

“Tengo dos días sin dormir,” said Victor Hernandez, telling 7 On Your Side Investigates that he hasn’t slept in days. He said his eyes have been glued to his phone, waiting to see what message comes next.

“Todos los documentos mios lo tienen,” Hernandez said. “Me pueden ser una maldad.”

“They have all my documents, they can do me a lot of harm,” he said. “They have everything of mine.”

Everything was in Spanish on the newscast. There were no English words

Hernandez has lived and worked in The Bronx for more than a decade since moving from the Dominican Republic. He’s a legal resident of the United States.

Hernandez says it’s always been his dream to become an U.S. citizen. So when an ad by an immigration attorney popped up on social media, he called. It promised to help him become a citizen without having to take the official exam. The cost? $1,500.

Now, if he’s a great guy, hard worker, loves America, I hope he gets everything sorted out. But, one problem: where’s the English proficiency? That’s required for the citizenship process. He’s been here 10 years, and, not to get too specific, this is a big problem with people living in the US from other countries: they do not learn the most basic stuff, which is English as their now primary language. Or barely even learning it. Or not learning it.

In all, he said he spent $4,820. It was only after his wife suggested that things didn’t seem right that they asked a friend for help. Together, they learned the ad was fake. It was AI-generated, but based off real immigration attorney Angel Leal from Miami, who says he had nothing to do with it.

“I’m extremely upset about it. Very disappointed,” said Leal. “On the verge of almost trying to give up.”

They’ve taken down over 8,000 fake videos. Scammy people are scammy.

Many Adults Not Fans Of Teen Curfew For Raleigh

Why are minors out between the hours of 11pm-5am? Do their parents have any idea?

Raleigh council members discuss detailed proposal for youth curfew

City leaders heard from the public Tuesday on Raleigh’s proposed youth curfew ordinance. Shortly after the city attorney presented a draft ordinance for discussion, members of the public weighed in.

Violence over the Independence Day weekend prompted city leaders to consider a youth curfew. Police said the incidents began at Brier Creek Commons, where about 3,000 teens showed up for a Star-Spangled Block Party near the shopping center’s clock tower. Later that evening, police said about 5,000 teens flooded Glenwood South, where fights broke out. However, the majority of those arrested following the incidents were adults.

Police Chief Rico Boyce announced that a fifth teen was taken into custody earlier Tuesday in connection with the shooting at Brier Creek. U.S. marshals arrested the teen in New York. They are charged with two counts of assault with deadly weapon, felony riot, discharging a firearm into occupied property and possession of a firearm by a minor.

That teen is 15. They just bolted from NC to NY? Did their parent(s) have a clue?

“We are seeing the trend of violence with our juveniles increase year over year,” Boyce said.

Under the draft ordinance, a person 18 or younger would be in violation of the curfew if they were in a public place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Of course, many of the “teens” are in their 20s, so, I hope they have a plan for the police to deal with them. And the resulting claims of raaaaacism, because the vast majority of those involved in these teen takeovers are Black

Exceptions would include young people traveling to or from work, home, school or a religious activity; participating in a First Amendment-protected activity; accompanied by an adult; or experiencing an emergency.

Almost none should be in any of those situations at that age, other than an emergency. Which should be rare.

None of the more than a dozen people who signed up to speak about the curfew expressed support for it.

“They can’t go to the mall, the movies. There are curfews already in place where, when I was a kid, I hung out at. We need to ask them where they need to go, what they need,” said Ramiyah Robinson of the Education Justice Alliance.

“How does a curfew make young people safer?” asked Zainab Baloch. “Raleigh needs reasons for young people to believe this city belongs to them too.”

Malls are closed at 11 (there are also bans on “teens” much earlier without adult supervision, because they keep causing violence). It’s rare to have movies that late. The kiddies aren’t just “hanging out”, they are committing mayhem, theft, fighting, shooting, stabbing. Where they should be as minors is at home. These same types of adults are enabling the violence by the “teens”.

It’s not about making the young people safer, it’s about making the rest of us safer.

Liberal Portland Mom Fights School Over Trans Indoctrination Material

Who would have thought this could happen in a Portland school?

Portland parent fights child’s elementary school over ‘final straw’ of adding trans-inclusive flag

Portland, Oregon, mother Allison Roberts told Fox News Digital Tuesday she hopes her fight with her children’s elementary school over a trans-inclusive flag will inspire others to speak out for their beliefs.

“I think the increased political presence with the progressive flag was a bit much,” Roberts said of her situation. “And I think that was the final straw that got me to open my eyes and see that, yes, the school had become a political apparatus. It wasn’t my problem with the pride flag, per se, it is what I think is using it as a political apparatus and indoctrination for the kids.”

Once you get all the pride stuff in the classrooms and the purple haired teachers it’s over. And, being Portland, how many others will speak out? I wonder if all her friends have abandoned her? Stopped answering her calls and texts, stopped inviting her anywhere? All her coworkers shunning her?

According to the Liberty Justice Center, which filed a lawsuit on behalf of Roberts last week, she initially expressed concern last year over Meriwether Lewis Elementary School’s decision to repaint its traditional rainbow pride flag with an “Intersex-Inclusive Progress” variant and an “identity flower” assignment given to her 11-year-old child that asked students to identify and discuss their gender identity with classmates and teachers.

This is nothing new in the Portland schools, it’s just at a point where she noticed it, and, good for her fighting back. But, sorry, she’s delusional

Roberts described herself as a liberal Democrat but felt the new flag was a step too far, particularly given her religious beliefs, and warned that situations like hers are likely happening in other schools.

“I never would have thought it would have happened in Portland, arguably one of the most, at least, vocally liberal cities out there. I really didn’t think it could happen here,” Roberts said.

“So, if it can happen here, I have no doubt that it can happen anywhere. And, again, it’s … it’s curriculum that is being stealthily placed into and around other curriculum. So, I do firmly believe that it’s happening everywhere.”

Portland, Oregon is one of the first places you could see this happening, and it’s been happening for years. Why would she, or any other liberal, not see this coming? Liberals seriously ignore everything till it is rammed into their face. She did get a good lesson in the way that her Comrades operate, though, as when she protested, handing out letters outside the school but not on school property, they trespassed her for one year with the normal wacko language like “animus and harassment targeting vulnerable members of [the] community.”

So then the Liberty Justice Center got involved with the lawsuit

“And, so, shutting somebody down because you don’t like what they’re saying really is problematic for that,” he continued. “There’s no offense exception to the First Amendment. There’s no hate speech exception to the First Amendment. These are made-up words, made-up things, and so really what they are doing here is insidious, I think, on several different grounds.”

This is the way your Comrades operate, Allison. Will you learn the lesson?

Roberts encouraged other parents to get involved with their children’s schools and take action when necessary.

“Don’t be afraid to speak up. Be loud,” she said. “I think the time for hoping that the common sense and the adults will enter the conversation and make things right is kind of over. And I think it is time for us to be vocal and to get involved.”

“And I would say to people, get involved in your school, your kid’s school,” Roberts added. “Go take a tour when it starts up this year. That’s all I’d say.”

Funny, Democrats have been saying that parents should not be involved at all, that the Schools Know Best, and the liberal run schools have been working hard to keep parents out. Conservative parents have been pointing out all these problems for years, and the liberals told them to pipe down.

Climate Cult Enlists Help Of OnlyFans Harlots

This is new. I also wanted to tone down the headline instead of using words like whores and skanks, even though the first person mention is pretty bad

From the article

Climate change has a PR problem.

For years, environmental messaging has sometimes felt preachy: buy less, fly less, eat less meat, recycle more. Important advice, certainly, but in an age of endless scrolling, even the biggest story on Earth can struggle to hold our attention.

So what if the answer is sex?

That is the thinking behind Headline Newds, a new online climate series featuring OnlyFans creators, using their enormous audiences to talk about everything from Big Oil and microplastics to solar panels and carbon footprints.

Yes, we’re airing all of this X-rated eco content pre-watershed. Don’t worry, it’s more net zero chat than nudes.

Among them is Lily Phillips, an OnlyFans star with more than two million followers and linked to superstar Drake.

What’s the carbon footprint of all that streaming?

As we tuck ourselves in, Phillips says climate change feels different.

“We’re all affected by it,” she tells me. “I’ve never had a summer like this.”

Yes, we all need to take scientific advice from the chick who did 100 men in a day. But, then, her opinion is about as scientific as most of the “climate scientists” and Elites, eh?

And as ever, there is a gendered dimension. Research has found that, on average, men tend to have larger carbon footprints. Men eat more meat and their cars guzzle more petrol, hence whole swathes of the internet dedicated to ‘Petro-Masculity’, when male power and fossil fuel consumption collide (but that’s a whole other Substack).

Yeah, I’m sure the guys paying to see the harlots will totally want to be demonized. Anyhow, 35+ years of spreading awareness and this is what the cult has come to.

College Groups Sue Over Immigration Rule Requiring Renewals

There’s apparently no limits that the wackos will accept

University Groups File Immigration Lawsuit To Block Student Rule

University groups and labor unions have filed a lawsuit to block an immigration rule limiting F-1 and J-1 visa holders to fixed four-year periods. The final rule, published in July 2026, limits how long students can study in the United States without obtaining new permission from the U.S. government by eliminating the previous policy known as “duration of status.”

Today, international students are admitted for a time to pursue a course of study, meaning they can generally stay in the United States after entering as an undergraduate, going on to a master’s and then a Ph.D., without relying on new government approvals.

The new rule is part of the Trump administration’s policy to restrict all categories of legal immigration and certain temporary visa categories. The lawsuit seeks to overturn the rule before it is implemented.

Economists and educators say the administration’s final rule will reduce international student enrollment, weaken American universities’ finances and deprive companies of talent. President Trump has spoken about the benefits of international students to America, but that’s not reflected in the rule.

They came here to go to school. If they want to stick around for a masters, PhD, or a job, they need to reapply. Really, once the visa ends they need to go back to their country of origin and apply. For too long these visas have been extended and extended, changed to fit the circumstance, and these people never leave.

At U.S. universities, international students account for 80% of full-time graduate students in computer and information sciences, 75% in electrical and computer engineering, 62% in mathematics, and statistics and a majority in industrial engineering, civil engineering and mechanical engineering, according to National Science Foundation data.

Let them go home to do the jobs. Oh, and maybe Americans will then get these degrees, instead of the worthless ones.

“For more than four decades, ‘duration of status’ has been the cornerstone of the United States’ framework for admitting international students, as well as exchange visitors and representatives of foreign media,” the plaintiffs argue in their complaint. “Under this proven system, F, J, and I nonimmigrants may remain in the country for the length of their program, not some arbitrary fixed end date. This flexible approach has allowed the United States to stay competitive in the global marketplace for academic talent, and rescues universities and immigration officials from thickets of red tape.”

The plaintiffs state that the final rule “dismantles that framework, replacing duration of status with a rigid system of fixed admission periods arbitrarily capped at four years,” requiring “discretionary extensions of stay from an already overwhelmed federal immigration bureaucracy with no certainty that an extension necessary to complete the degree program they have invested in attaining will be granted.”

Are they really saying that these college kids cannot fill out the required document? Really? If the kiddies do not like the rule that can stay home. What this is really about is money. Colleges want that money, which tends to be paid “in cash”, rather than student loans which get defaulted on.
