Climate change fuels extreme heat, flooding and tropical threats across the U.S

Much of the United States will experience some form of climate-fueled extreme weather this week, from dangerous heat across the Central and Eastern U.S. to heavy rain and flooding threats in Texas, the Grand Canyon, and Southern California. Unusually warm ocean waters are also amplifying tropical systems and the risk of extreme rainfall, underscoring the widespread influence of human-caused climate change. (snip)

Tropical Depression Five formed over the northern Gulf of Mexico around 1 p.m. CDT Monday, August 31, and strengthened into Tropical Storm Edouard by evening. The National Weather Service is forecasting 3 to 5 inches of rain, with isolated amounts of 6 to 9 inches possible over parts of southeast and eastern Texas. Rainfall rates exceeding 3 to 4 inches per hour at times could lead to flash flooding in urban and other vulnerable areas.

A tropical depression or tropical storm could form by September 1, several hundred miles south-southwest of southwestern Mexico, potentially strengthening to a strong tropical storm or hurricane as it moves north toward Southern California through the week. Regardless of whether it makes landfall as a defined tropical system, the storm will likely bring heavy rain and extreme humidity to Southern California that would last into the following week, potentially causing flooding.

RHK, Jr. Comes Out Against Screen Addiction

Will this make Democrats pro-screen addiction now, since they basically take the opposite position of everyone in the Trump admin

Here’s a question, though: is it Government’s job to do this, to deal with screen addiction?

(NY Post) A new report spearheaded by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and sent to President Trump on Tuesday suggested dozens of federal actions meant to improve kids’ health, including tackling “illegal vapes,” researching screen time “addiction” and overhauling baby formulas.

The laundry list of ideas are set to be presented to the president to inform future executive orders that will alter how the federal government researches “childhood chronic disease.”

The Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission was established in February after an executive order from Trump, who gave the 71-year-old Kennedy carte blanche to remake public health in America.

Tuesday’s report identifies four main possible factors behind childhood chronic disease, including poor diet, chemical exposure, lack of physical activity and chronic stress, and over-medicalization.

Excessive use of screens is named as a contributor to lack of physical activity and chronic stress.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and HHHS will lead the charge on researching screen time as an “addiction” similar to drug and alcohol abuse — while the Surgeon General will launch a education and awareness program on the effects of children using screens.

It’s not just kids, but, adults. And not just young adults. Because I pay attention heavily to what’s going on around me I see the number of people who just can’t put the phone down. They come to a stop light and start staring. I saw one yesterday right behind me, the passenger had the phone in her face. The driver immediately started scrolling the minute they came to a stop. When it went green they were far behind because they did not go. How many times have you had to honk because the light goes green and they didn’t go?

But, is this government’s job to regulate screen addiction, except maybe procedural like when driving, and that should be a state issue, not a federal?

Illegal vaping, the report states, will be monitored by the Food and Drug Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives via a campaign that stresses the Trump administration will not allow children to gain access to vaping products.

Chinese suppliers have flooded the market with unregulated and flavored vapes, many of which are not approved by the FDA.

The vapes have been absurd for years. The amount of different products is insane. People seem to have some sort of new device constantly, some new flavor. 10 years ago most of the products were by known companies, now, who knows? And the actual liquids for vaping? Who the hell knows? Dems will be against cracking down.

The administration will “increase testing for heavy metals and other contaminants to help ensure access to high-quality and healthy infant formula sold in the United States, and encourage companies to develop new infant formulas,” the report says.

Democrats will be against this. Why? TDS.

LOL: Every Dollar Spent On Climate (scam) Action Can Generate $15

This reminds of the Democrat scam about getting $3 in the economy for every $1 in federal money spent

Coordinated action on clean air and climate change can net $15 for every dollar spent

The assessment by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) shows how coordinated action can improve public health, strengthen economies and accelerate progress on climate goals through 25 proven measures and policy reforms.

These include using renewable energy, electric vehicles and clean fuel sources for cooking.

It comes as the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) also underlined the importance of coordinated action as increased pollution from wildfires and heatwaves threatens to undermine global efforts to improve air quality,

The report finds that combining efforts produces higher returns than addressing climate change and air pollution separately, because many of the same sectors and pollutants drive both crises.

“For too long, we have treated climate action as a cost to be managed and air pollution as the unfortunate outcome of development,” said Inger Andersen, Executive Director of UNEP.

“This report shows the opposite: clean air is a key driver of development, health, food and energy security, and climate stability – an asset we must invest in.” (snip)

The report estimates that annual benefits from implementing the 25 measures would be equivalent to 2.8 per cent of global gross domestic product (GDP) in 2035, 4.5 per cent in 2050 and 11.4 per cent in 2100.

But, see, this is assuming that governments are taxing and fee-ing the heck out of citizens, and then spending it or giving it to the UN. No mention of what percent disappears into the pockets of bureaucrats, politicians, NGOs, etc.

The climate benefits would be substantial. Compared with the report’s baseline scenario, immediate implementation would halve global carbon dioxide emissions by 2050, reduce methane emissions by 60 per cent and cut major air pollutants, including black carbon, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides, by around 70 per cent.

The measures would avoid approximately 0.34°C of global warming by 2050 and 1.4°C by the year 2100.

The challenge now is implementation. The report identifies fragmented decision-making, limited enforcement capacity and weak government coordination as major barriers that could delay full action by almost eight years globally.

All these years later and they still want tons of action, but, they aren’t willing to make changes in their own lives.

Weird: Deported Haitians Are Broke And Stranded

Deported From the U.S., Some Haitians Are Left Broke and Stranded

Dozens of deportees are arriving in the Haitian city of Cap Haitien weekly as the Trump administration pushes to remove Haitians who lack legal immigration status in the United States, and some are now marooned in an unfamiliar place.

More than 80 people were returned last week, often with only the U.S. government-issued sweatpants and T-shirts, and with immigration court documents stuffed in their pockets. Many returned broke, saying their valuables had disappeared during the trip and they now lacked the cash to get home.

The road out of Cap Haitien, on Haiti’s northern coast, is controlled by gangs that extract tolls from drivers and kidnap travelers. Five police officers who tried the trip by bus recently were murdered.

A day after being deported, Reginald Dorvilma, 36, sat stranded on Friday outside the Cap Haitien police station, making phone calls. He needed to find his way through gang territory to Les Cayes, his hometown on the other side of the country.

Despite all the money spent by the US, Canada, the UN, the Clinton Foundation (snicker), and others the place is a complete sh*thole, and, we brought a ton of the people who make it so into the US, but, it was always meant to be temporary.

The plight of people like Mr. Dorvilma is among the challenges facing the Haitian government as it grapples with the arrival in Cap Haitien every Thursday of returning citizens, including people who are penniless, a few who do not speak the local language, Creole, and others with criminal histories.

Whoa, whoa, we’re deporting Haitians with criminal records back? Huh. Strange that Democrats refused to take all these same people in to their own homes.

NY AG With TDS Sues Trump Over Kicking Illegals Off SNAP

NYAG sues to safeguard gender-affirming care

New York Attorney General Letitia James on Wednesday joined 20 other attorneys general and the governor of Pennsylvania in suing the Trump administration over a new rule that blocks states from receiving federal Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funding for gender-affirming care provided to transgender youth.

The rule, issued last month by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), prohibits Medicaid reimbursement for what is considered medically necessary health care required to treat gender dysphoria in patients under 18, and imposes similar restrictions on CHIP coverage for patients under 19, AG James’ announcement explained.

AG James and the coalition allege that CMS “exceeded its authority” by prohibiting federal reimbursement for health care that states have chosen to cover.

Democrats Running For President Must Pledge To Restore D.C. To Pre-Trump

This is wild. It may be just one tweeting it, but, can you see a ton of them thinking this?

I agree that the arch is dumb and should be skipped, but, is Ted really saying he wants to tear down the new East Wing and replace it with the old building? That’s wild, considering how much he has whined about its cost. I also agree that Trump putting his name on the Kennedy Center, but, the building is being rejuvenated because it is old and falling apart. As to the last, D.C., do Ted and the Democrats really want the crime and squalor back?

Will Ted go ahead and make sure all the fountains are shut down again?

climate cowHistoric heat waves are putting French dairy cows that normally graze outdoors in summer under heat-related stress.

Prolonged periods of drought are scorching French pastures, leeching them of their usual lush green vitality and leaving behind parched, lifeless yellow fields.

And French farmers bound by strict cheesemaking regulations are having to buy extra feed to supplement the animals’ diets.

Some of France’s most beloved artisanal cheeses are under threat from the effects of climate change, scientists and cheesemakers warn.

What the farmers are really under threat from is Government bureaucrats and politicians implementing all sorts of rules and regs and restrictions because of their climate doom beliefs. Things would be fine without all that crap, which is why there have been all sorts of protests from farmers over the past few years.

“Before, we used to have a problem with the grass every 15-20 years,” says Laurent Lours, who has been a dairy farmer and cheesemaker for 35 years. “Now, it’s about every other year. And it’s getting worse.”

The result? Dairy cows are producing less milk and birthing fewer or weakened calves. Farmers who produce many of the country’s top-tier cheeses have been forced to cease production. And the distinct flavor of France’s “terroir” cheeses are at risk.

“We’ve had five heat waves so far this year. We’ve never experienced temperatures like this before,” Lours says.

Now, can we compare this to what happened during the Medieval Warm Period? That’s rather necessary for it to be science, not a cult. Anyhow, it’s a long, science free bit of fearmongering.

Oh Noes: NICE Arrested A Whole Bunch Of Illegals In Memphis

Stories like these should simply be a few paragraphs long, basically crime reports where a bunch of people were arrested. But, when it involves illegals the Credentialed Media puts their all into the Sob Stories

How a Memphis Gambling Raid Became a Sweeping Immigration Operation

For the people dressed up in sparkly skirts and cowboy boots, Saturday nights were best spent at El Corralón.

The cantina, tucked in the middle of Berclair, a heavily Hispanic neighborhood in Memphis, Tenn., was a rowdy joint where the mix of regional Mexican music and bachata was loud, the pool tables plenty and beer cheap enough. Gambling machines jangled by the wall.

Then, in recent weeks, neighbors started spotting drones overhead. Suspicious vans parked by the dumpsters. Unfamiliar patrons came in and left quickly. Some in the neighborhood believed the gambling machines, illegal in Tennessee, might make the business a target.

Gee, ya think?

But the cantina remained open. Last Sunday, a crush of agents raided El Corralón, searching for the owner, Marco Sabillon-Urbina, an immigrant from Honduras, but detaining anyone who was in the country illegally.

In the end, the operation targeting illegal gambling and drugs spiraled into one of Tennessee’s largest sweeps of undocumented immigrants this year, as Immigration and Customs Enforcement escalates its operations across the country. More than 120 people were detained, inflaming tensions in Memphis, where many residents were already on edge over a separate federal anti-crime task force that, among other things, has also targeted immigrants.

Wait, so, what happened to the sparkly skirts and cowboy boots? They were exchanged for illegal gambling and drugs, eh? How is arrested a whole bunch of people “inflaming tensions”? Would anyone in the news and politics give a damn if it was a bunch of whites, blacks, or Asians? If they were all lawful citizens of the US?

“This takes them back to being afraid and not wanting to go out again,” said Jose Salazar, a community organizer who assists the immigrant community in Memphis. “All those fears and concerns are worse now.”

Maybe illegals shouldn’t be engaged in open crimes which allows the to be easily caught

Tennessee and other Republican-led states have also deepened coordination with the Trump administration and immigration authorities. In May, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation asked ICE for help identifying an undocumented man it suspected was involved in criminal activity at El Corralón, court records show.

The man, Mr. Sabillon-Urbina, first arrived in the United States in 1994 and received Temporary Protected Status in 1999; that status lapsed in January 2020 after he failed to renew the paperwork, federal law enforcement said in court record

He was sent back to Honduras in 2023 as part of a federal plea agreement in connection with possession of drugs and a firearm. He was deported again in 2024 after trying to re-enter the United States.

Those are felony violations of US immigration laws for illegal re-entry, along with the other felonies. This is who the Democrats are trying to protect. So, here’s a question: how in the fuck was he the owner of the cantina? Who loaned the money? How did this illegal with multiple deportations and felony charges get a business permit? Who was ignoring him having illegal gambling machines? The DOJ should sweat the hell out of him for names.

Several relatives of people were who detained said they were angry at both ICE and Mr. Sabillon-Urbina. They said the bar owner had risked the lives of the very immigrants his business catered to.

Sofia, an undocumented immigrant from Honduras in her 20s who asked to be identified by only her first name because of her status, said her mother was detained that night and could soon be deported. She was saddened to see comments on Facebook criticizing people like her mother who had risked going out.

Her 8-year-old brother believes their mother is out on a work trip. But soon, Sofia said, she will have to tell him what really happened.
