Oops, Scientists May Have Miscalculated Our Global Warming Timeline

Whatever your stance is on climate change (it’s real!), it’s impossible to have missed the near-ubiquitous call to action to “keep temperatures from exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels.” Over the past few years, the somewhat bureaucratic phrase has become a rallying cry for the climate conscious.

This ambitious target first surfaced following the Paris Climate Agreement, and describes a sort of climate threshold—if we pass a long-term average increase in temperature of 1.5 degrees Celsius, and hold at those levels for several years, we’re going to do some serious damage to ourselves and our environment.

Well, a paper from the University Western Australia Oceans Institute has some bad news: the world might’ve blown past that threshold six years ago.

Published in the journal Nature Climate Change, the paper reaches this conclusion via an unlikely route—analyzing six sclerosponges, a kind of sea sponge that clings to underwater caves in the ocean. These sponges are commonly studied by climate scientists and are referred to as “natural archives” because they grow so slowly. Like, a-fraction-of-a-millimeter-a-year slow. This essentially allows them to lock away climate data in their limestone skeletons, not entirely unlike tree rings or ice cores.

Oh, good, 6 sea sponges studied means climate doom 6 years ago.

“The big picture is that the global warming clock for emissions reductions to minimize the risk of dangerous climate change has been brought forward by at least a decade,” Malcolm McCulloch, lead author of the study, told the Associated Press. “Basically, time’s running out.”

LOL. Cult.

The study concludes that the world started warming roughly 80 years before the IPCC’s estimates, and that we already surpassed 1.7 degrees Celsius in 2020. That’s a big “woah, if true” moment, but some scientists are skeptical. One such scientist, speaking with LiveScience, said that “it begs credulity to claim that the instrumental record is wrong based on paleosponges from one region of the world … It honestly doesn’t make any sense to me.” Other experts expressed wanting to see more data before completely upending the IPCC’s climate goalposts, which say the Earth is currently hovering at a long-term temperature change of around 1.2 degrees Celsius.

None of it makes sense, because this is all ravings of a doomsday cult.

Mexican President Says Will Pursue Legal Action After NICE Kills Illegal Who Tried To Run Them Over

Say, can we now sue Mexico for every Mexican illegal who has hurt or killed a US citizen?

Mexico says it will pursue legal action against US after deadly ICE shooting in Houston

Mexico says it will pursue legal action against the U.S. following Tuesday’s deadly shooting involving an ICE agent in Houston.

“Our objective is to go beyond diplomatic notes and the measures we have already raised before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, because we cannot allow the mistreatment of our fellow Mexicans in the United States,” President Claudia Sheinbaum told reporters Wednesday. “Unfortunately, there has been another death of a Mexican national in the United States for being detained, when that person’s only offense was lacking immigration documents, even though they had been hired by an American company.”

On Tuesday, ICE claims they were conducting a vehicle stop as part of a targeted enforcement operation to arrest a man they say was living in the country illegally. ICE alleges that the man, identified as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, attempted to evade arrest, rammed his car into an ICE vehicle, and refused commands to stop.

The agency said the man tried to run over an agent, leading to the officer firing his weapon in what ICE claims is self-defense. ICE states that the man was hit and was taken to the hospital, where he died.

They bodycam footage will most likely show this, and, can NICE then sue Mexico because one of their citizens attempted to kill a US federal agent? BTW, if you are caught illegally in Mexico they will throw you in a nasty jail.

Weird: Teens Do Not Like The Idea Of Teens Having A Curfew

What are the teens doing out so late at night? Especially when it is after midnight? Where are their parents?

Teens question proposed Raleigh curfew after weekend chaos

Joshua Holden went to Brier Creek on July 4 to watch fireworks with friends, expecting a night of celebration.

“I was just trying to have fun,” Holden said.

The atmosphere changed abruptly, he said, when fighting and gunfire broke out.

“It just turned into chaos because of the fighting and the shooting that happened, and people just not getting along all together and all,” Holden said.

Let’s remember that most of this started around 1030pm. And then more continued down off Glenwood Ave after midnight, with a lot of the same people who cops saw at Brier Creek showing up at the second “Teen takeover”.

Holden said he understands those concerns but believes not everyone present should be blamed for the actions of others.

“It’s upsetting. I’m not going to lie because it affected us as a whole. We are gaining consequences over something that we don’t we didn’t do,” Holden said.

Holden, a recent high school graduate, spoke alongside his mentor, Scottie Barnes, founder of the youth mentoring group Katch the Kite.

If he’s a recent graduate is he above the age of 17? Then there is no curfew. And a whole lot more in terms of charges and accountability if you get caught involved with this.

Holden questioned whether a broad curfew is the right solution.

“I think it should just affect the specific people that got into the incident,” he said.

Who are these specific people? Point them out so the police can come arrest them

Coreion Levy, an upcoming high school senior who is working two jobs this summer, also opposed the proposal.

“We shouldn’t have a curfew because there’s like a bandage on the cut. What is it really doing?” Levy said.

It’s keep juveniles home. Why are they out late at night?

Levy said teens need more recreational opportunities.

Late at night? Back in my day we had plenty of stuff to do during the day. Fishing, riding bikes, playing down by the river, just hanging out, and so much more. We didn’t have smartphones, streaming, computers, and so forth. We made our fun. What are these kids doing? And why do they need this stuff for late at night?

Planned Parenthood Sure Seems To Have Money To Target Republicans

Planned Parenthood to target GOP with $47 million midterm blitz

Planned Parenthood is pumping more than $47 million into the midterms as it looks to pick off Republicans who cut off funding to the abortion provider last year.

The near-record investment from Planned Parenthood Votes — an independent super PAC affiliated with Planned Parenthood — will fund ads and voter-outreach efforts targeting Republicans across 10 battleground House races in seven states, as well as in Maine and Michigan’s critical Senate contests, according to plans shared first with POLITICO. (snip)

Planned Parenthood Votes’ push comes after congressional Republicans stripped Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid funding for one year as part of their 2025 megalaw, exacerbating the group’s cash woes and leading to a spate of clinic closures.

$47 million. If you can drop $47 million like this you don’t have cash woes.

“We’re in the fight of our lives,” Sarah Standiford, executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, said in an interview. And she said the group will do everything it can to “elect unapologetic champions of reproductive freedom” and “make sure members of Congress who voted against Planned Parenthood lose their jobs.”

Kinda goes to show that PP is all about abortion on demand, not any other type of care like they claim.

But the group believes abortion-rights messaging still has salience. They pointed to recent polling from the Democratic firm Navigator Research that shows pluralities of Americans view banning abortions and cutting federal funding for Planned Parenthood as disqualifying positions.

“For millions of Americans, abortion is not a hypothetical election issue, it is part of their everyday lives,” Standiford said. “Abortion and defunding Planned Parenthood are not just highly mobilizing, they are in fact dealbreakers for voters across the political spectrum, and that’s how we’re going to be talking to voters about this issue.”

Well, if people want an abortion they can pay for it. If PP has $47 million to run on political ads they can afford to operate their unborn murder operation.

Congressional Republicans blocked Planned Parenthood from accessing what amounted to $700 million annually for non-abortion services like contraception and cancer screenings under the megalaw. But Republicans failed to muster the votes to extend the provision, and when the law lapsed in early July, the network of clinics regained access to hundreds of millions in federal funding.

Yeah, we all know elected Republicans are idiots. Thanks for letting us know.

Even as abortion has slipped as a top issue for voters, advocacy groups on both sides of the ongoing fight over reproductive care are pouring tens of millions into gubernatorial, congressional and further down-ballot races. Planned Parenthood Votes’ $47 million investment is its second-highest ever, just shy of the $50 million the group spent in 2022.

PP doesn’t seem to have cash flow issues, eh? Hey, maybe there should be an audit, though, to see where that money came from. If it came from federal allocations there should be some people arrested and prosecuted.

Air-Conditioning Isn’t The Solution To A Warmer World, A Global Review Warns

It’s undeniable that the world is getting hotter and hotter. As heatwaves grow more oppressive and summer days melt into a sweaty, sweltering mess, air conditioning is saving lives. But a new global review argues the energy-hungry AC units are not a long-term solution to the problem.

Without getting bogged down in the trenches of the “air conditioning culture wars” between the US and Europe, air conditioning does have its place. According to some estimates, it can prevent about 75 percent of heat-related deaths.

Gee, ya think?

The problem is that air conditioning churns through an incredible amount of electricity and puts real pressure on energy grids. Air conditioning currently accounts for 7 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, and that burden is only set to grow. Much of the emissions come from the electricity required to power the units, but AC systems also rely on planet-warming refrigerants, hydrofluorocarbons, or alternative chemicals that carry their own ecological costs.

Given this strain, the review argues that the world will need to look to new innovative methods to cool down going forward.

How much do you want to bet the people who wrote this use AC themselves? Anyhow, their suggestions?

The review examines a range of passive cooling technologies that can lower temperatures with little to no energy use, including radiative coatings for buildings and reflective materials that passively dissipate sunlight.

“The best cooling strategy is to stop unwanted heat from entering buildings in the first place. Shading, reflective materials, opens in a new window, smarter ventilation, opens in a new window and new cooling materials can dramatically reduce indoor temperatures before an air conditioner even needs to switch on,” said Professor Santamouris.

Many of these technologies come with higher upfront costs, the paper notes, but ultimately pay off with lower long-term operating costs, without the added climate toll.

Oh, piss off, wankers.

Judge Who Obstructed ICE Spared Jail

It’s nice that there are different standards of justice in the system. I bet if you obstructed the judicial proceedings in her court room you’d end up in the slammer

Former Wisconsin judge spared prison for obstructing ICE arrest of Mexican immigrant

Former Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan was spared from prison Wednesday for ushering a Mexican defendant out of her courtroom to evade US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. A federal judge fined her $5,000 and cited her otherwise law-abiding life in issuing the sentence.

Dugan, 67, was convicted of felony obstruction in December. Her lawyers argued during her trial that President Donald Trump’s administration sought to “crush” Dugan in an effort to ensure judicial compliance with the ICE strategy of targeting immigrants as they showed up for court hearings. (snip)

“I have been cast as both a scofflaw and a hero. I am neither. I am a public servant who’s just trying to do my job,” Dugan said, adding that she has had to retire from public life due to threats against her and her family.

A prosecutor then acknowledged that “she has experienced collateral damage because of her conduct,” but said “judges can’t choose to disregard the law.”

US District Judge Lynn Adelman then spoke, saying Dugan made a bad decision and that he doesn’t believe prison is necessary.

“This is a few minutes of conduct for someone who has dedicated her life to public service,” the judge said. “It’s a marked deviation from an otherwise law-abiding life.”

I bet Adelman has sentenced many people to jail who were good, upstanding citizens but made one quick mistake. What Dugan did was make a consciences choice to violate federal law.

Under federal sentencing guidelines, the presentence report calls for 15 to 21 months behind bars. The judge is not bound by those guidelines.

But, nope. Nice to have pals making decisions in court.

NPR Helpfully Offers Climate (cult) Comics For Kids

Are you a kid — or do you know a kid — who is learning about climate change?

Whether they’re asking about extreme heat or wildfires, it can be hard to know where to start.

So we made a guide about how it’s changing the planet and how to deal with the big feelings you might have when you hear about it.

Yeah, I’m going through it, and it is peak indoctrination, often using lies and lies by omission. Early on it mentions a 2017 Colorado wildfire, and mentions “this is not normal.” Well, most of the 2017 Colorado wildfires were arson, either by accident or on purpose. One was reported to be from a lightning strike. That happens, and these all tend to be worse because the leftist governments will not allow proper forest, brush, etc management.

And of course NPR recommends the yutes walk and bike more, but, um, never says anything about how half of every barrel of petroleum goes to other than fuels. Like the clothes the kids wear. Their glasses. Their phones and computers. Their TVs and streaming sticks. And so much more. The kids are never told to give that stuff up.

And then they convinced Denver schools’ to use only clean energy by 2030. Yay! Why not now? Will the kiddies stop taking the bus? Turn the AC and heat off?

Over the years we’ve created resources for how parents can talk to their kids about climate change. This time we wanted to make something specifically for kids as they’re processing their feelings. We also wanted to create a free resource for parents or teachers to use who are looking for ways to help their kids understand how the planet is changing.

The only feelings the yutes have are the ones the adult cultists gave them. Does anyone think the kiddies are going to NPR on their own? Or, is this comic being given to them by their adults, be it their parent(s) or teachers?

Raleigh Chief Of Police Supports “Teen” Curfew After Takeovers

Now, the city leaders have to Do Something, but, do they think the same “teens” who did the takeovers will pay attention to a curfew?

Raleigh debates curfew as police chief decries ‘unruly’ juveniles

Raleigh Police Chief Rico Boyce is urging city leaders to consider a citywide youth curfew after a July Fourth weekend gathering involving large numbers of teenagers, citing concerns about the number of guns found in the possession of teens.

Boyce shared his experience with the Raleigh City Council on Tuesday, describing what he encountered during the weekend’s teen takeover, which stretched from Brier Creek to Glenwood South.

“Unruly, undisciplined, unsupervised juveniles is what we were dealing with,” Boyce said. (snip through him apprehending a teen who had a gun)

The chief said Raleigh Police were prepared to manage crowds but were surprised by the number of firearms found among teenagers. He said that observation is a key reason he is advocating for a citywide curfew targeting teens 17 years old and younger.

All who had handguns were in violation of state law, to go with all the other violence they were involved in

(Council member Cory) Branch said the city should use all available resources and bring together multiple stakeholders to address the issue. He also suggested expanding supervised recreational opportunities for teenagers through the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.

“What can we do to run programs later? Back in the day, we even had midnight basketball that put a lot of people off the streets in a supervised environment,” Branch said.

Maybe the under 18 crowd shouldn’t be running around the city after midnight in the first place? With guns? Causing mayhem? They’re talking about holding parents responsible. Like the parents care?

Longtime Raleigh resident Octavia Rainey also weighed in during the discussion, urging council members to include young people in conversations about a proposed citywide curfew.

“Unless you are hearing from them kids, where are you going? These kids are the future of tomorrow. They need to be heard,” Rainey said.

Um, no. They’re juveniles. We don’t need to hear from the same people causing the problems. Part of the problem is that idiot adults are investing power in juveniles rather than telling them what to do. Telling them “no”.

(WRAL) During a Raleigh City Council meeting, Raleigh Police Chief Rico Boyce presented several options aimed at preventing similar incidents. Boyce and Cowell are both backing the curfew for people under 18. Bag restrictions and more youth programming are also considerations.

Boyce pointed to the number of guns recovered Saturday night as one reason he’d like to see backpack restrictions for people in certain areas, including Glenwood South. He also called for more youth-focused programming to give young people safer options and keep them from getting into trouble.

And when police start searching bags, and finding guns, the Usual Suspects will blast the police for this.

Boyce also pointed to programs the city already has in place to keep young people engaged, including RPD Hoops Night, Raleigh Teen Connect and Something 2 Say.

How’s that working out? And why are juveniles out after midnight in the first place? Oh, and how does any of this affect all the “teens” 18 and into their 20s who were reported to be at the takeovers? When any are caught what are the penalties? Catch, release, no charges? Or, will they get some nice community service?

(Raleigh N&O) Boyce said the crowd of mostly juveniles appeared to have been dropped off on Glenwood Avenue. When they could not get into the surrounding bars, they gathered in the street with “nowhere to go.”

But the majority were not from Raleigh, Boyce said, explaining police used tracking technology to confirm most people had traveled to Glenwood from neighboring towns.

Why would juveniles be allowed in bars? Perhaps there are a few that allow 18 and up in with wristbands that stop them from getting alcohol, but, that’s usually for those a little closer to colleges. But, not 17 year olds and under. Who bussed in all the “teens”? This all looks planned. And, apparently, many of those at the Glenwood riot had previously been at Brentwood earlier. How do you stop this behavior, which has become normalized?

Oh, and the same people complaining now created the situation with their votes for soft on crime, idiotic Democrat policies. And will soon also complain when any restrictions are put in place as “racist”. Until the takeovers hit their businesses again, then complain at the cops, then go back to complaining that any restrictions are raaaaacist, in typical liberal logic circles.
