Trump scores major immigration victory as judge clears way to end TPS protections for thousands of Somalis

President Donald Trump scored a major legal victory Friday after a federal judge cleared the way for his administration to terminate temporary legal protections for thousands of Somali nationals living in the United States.

U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs in Boston lifted a stay that had prevented the Department of Homeland Security from terminating Somalia’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation, citing a June Supreme Court ruling that sharply limited judicial review of similar administration actions.

The decision allows the Trump administration to move forward with ending TPS for Somalia, potentially exposing affected migrants who lack another lawful basis to remain in the U.S. to deportation.

Burroughs, an appointee of former President Barack Obama, had previously blocked the termination from taking effect in a lawsuit brought by four Somali nationals and two advocacy groups, including African Communities Together.

In Friday’s ruling, Burroughs said the plaintiffs had presented a compelling case but concluded that the Supreme Court’s decision constrained her ability to continue blocking the administration’s action.

Burroughs wrote that she was “bound … to view things through the Mullin prism,” referring to the Supreme Court case.

“Plaintiffs have made a convincing showing that they will suffer irreparable harm if the injunction is withheld … and the balance of hardships and the public interest also favor Plaintiffs, given that the government has made no showing that maintaining TPS status for the duration of this litigation would impose an undue burden,” she wrote.

I fail to see the problem with sending them back. When Trump is out there slamming Somalia, the Democrats and their pet media are telling us that Somalia is great! I mean really, really great, and everyone should move back (notice the date). So, why can’t they go home?

Oh, and the thing is, the most recent 18 month time period for TPS for Somalis ended March 17,2026. No administration is under any obligation to renew TPS. Hence, time to go.

In Germany, record heat meets climate action fatigue

When Lars Werner of the “Last Generation” climate activist group glued himself to the road four years ago to protest for greater climate action, Germany had not yet seen 12,500 heat-related deaths (the 2026 toll, so far), or record temperatures across Western Europe, and fully loaded ships were still navigating the Rhine without difficulty.

Only a few hundred protesters turned out for a demonstration outside the chancellery in Berlin a week ago. It was a far cry from the protests in 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, when hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets to demand climate action.

A recent study by the Bertelsmann Foundation found that 80% of people in Germany are worried about climate change, and more than 50% want to see more government spending on climate protection. But that doesn’t mean they’re take to the streets.

German Environment Minister Carsten Schneider of the center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) now wants to amend the constitution, the Basic Law, to make heat protection a joint responsibility of the federal government, the states, and the municipalities.

However, the larger coalition partner, the center-right bloc of the Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU), is skeptical of the plan and has cited “legal concerns.”

Why Is AOC Doing Costly Egg Freezing When She Still Owes Student Loan Debt?

AOC’s student debt unpaid as she embarks on costly egg-freezing journey

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has made at least $174,000 annually for nearly eight years as a member of Congress, but like many of her “Squad” colleagues, she has yet to put a substantial dent in her student loan debt, according to House financial disclosures.

The Bronx and Queens Democrat has owed between $15,001 and $50,000 in federal student loan debt since her election to the House in 2018. That’s the same amount she owes now, according to her August disclosure, where lawmakers report ranges for debt and income.

The “Tax the Rich!” pol reported less than $81,000 in total assets.

Recently, Ocasio-Cortez has suggested that she’d been saving up for some time instead to freeze her eggs, a process that can cost between $10,000 and $20,000 per cycle.

Yeah, well, she seems to have no problem having cars and a nice apartment in DC and NYC and all the clothes and eyeglasses and jewelry and so much more. We all know the graft money is there, she’s just better at hiding it. Though, it is interesting that someone with a degree in economics is probably only paying the minimum on the student loans. Not that she understands economics to start with

The “Squad” Democrat has consistently backed student debt cancellation. During former President Joe Biden’s term, she even pushed the 46th commander-in-chief to cancel as much as $50,000 in debt per student borrower. But she’s not the only US lawmaker who’s still holding student loans.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has held up to $50,000 over the past eight years in student debt — despite her net worth ballooning for a time to as much as $30 million due to her husband’s winery and venture capital businesses.

Why would she want to repay a debt when she can try and get the government to do that?

Early in his term, Biden expressly rejected writing off up to $50,000 in outstanding student loan debt, earning AOC’s ire.

“Entire generations of working class kids were encouraged to go into more debt under the guise of elitism. This is wrong,” she said in February 2021. “Nowhere does it say we must trade-off early childhood education for student loan forgiveness. We can have both.”

This is the Democrat way: give easy loans for college, then have the colleges Democrats run raise the costs, then not teach the Yutes how loans work and how to pay them off, offer degrees that are mostly worthless in the jobs market, heck, push the kiddies to get them, and then tell those same Yutes to demand the government pay those loans off.

Good questions. But, really, members of Congress will almost never go after each other, regardless of Party, when it comes to the Money.

Do have to throw some respect to AOC for getting a bit thicker, rather than taking Ozempic and looking like a hollowed out person like so many celebs.

Puerto Rico’s Water Crisis Is Caused By Ineptitude And Climate Doom, But All Ineptitude

With Puerto Rico’s water crisis, climate change meets ineptitude

Last week in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the water taps ran dry.

The Caribbean island experienced its driest July on record, with more than 60% of the territory — more than 3 million residents — facing drought conditions according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

In fact, PR has a history of droughts. That’s a condition based on where it is located.

Large trucks filled with potable water have been sent throughout the island to help residents, with the sick and elderly given preference.

But this dire water situation didn’t just happen overnight or even over the course of the past few months.

“For decades, communities have lived without fair access to water resources, and experts have repeatedly warned that the lack of infrastructure maintenance and poor watershed management would lead Puerto Rico to the water crisis it faces today.”

So, pretty much incompetence. Poor planning. Bad government. I wonder how much money went into graft, waste, and fraud rather than the infrastructure, especially as the population of PR has grown, as has the tourist industry?

“The challenge comes from two key issues,” Gossett Navarro said. “One is an ongoing challenge that we’ve had for decades related to infrastructure and then there are the challenges that get exacerbated by the climate crisis … we’re struggling with a drought and it’s making the infrastructure issues even worse.”

Sigh.

It’s currently estimated that approximately 60% of water that travels through Puerto Rico’s geriatric pipes is lost due to leaks and other infrastructural issues, Navarro mentioned.

So even when it does rain, and a percentage of that water lands in accessible reservoirs, citizens are only able to use a fraction of that fraction.

That’s not ‘climate change’.

Illegals In Connecticut Could Looks Medicare

Hundreds of immigrants lawfully present in Connecticut are slated to lose their Medicare coverage by January, the latest federal cutback that’s spurred some lawmakers and advocates here to call for state intervention.

But whether state officials will intervene early next year hinges not only on this fall’s gubernatorial campaign but also on which other distressed groups the General Assembly is looking to assist. (snip)

Lawfully present immigrants had been eligible for the federal medical insurance program if they met certain work history, disability or age requirements. The reconciliation measure limited eligibility to green card holders and certain immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Micronesia, Palau and the Marshall Islands.

Just because the Biden regime gave them a “legal” status doesn’t mean they aren’t in the US in contradiction of federal immigration law. And, really, even most who are here legally should not receive Medicaid, and those here in visas and applying for citizenship are precluded from getting it

The Congressional Budget Office estimated that roughly 100,000 individuals nationally would lose Medicare coverage because of this provision. And though it didn’t provide state-by-state data, Connecticut contains 1% to 1.1% of the health insurance program’s caseload. That would translate, roughly, into 1,000 to 1,100 lawfully present immigrants here slated to lose coverage.

Well, if Connecticut wants to pony up their own taxpayer money, go ahead. Though, that could be seen as violating certain federal statutes on providing aid to illegals. Ct. is spending at least $1.3 billion a year on illegals, and I’m betting that number is higher since Biden opened the border.

Unhinged AWFL Who Vandalized WWII Memorial Arrested

(Fox News) The suspect accused of vandalizing the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., has been charged with two federal offenses for injuring/depredating U.S. property and the destruction of a veterans’ memorial, according to court documents.

The DOJ is accusing Kentucky woman Melissa L. Farris of an act of vandalism which occurred Thursday. The words “Clean hands, dirty money,” were spray-painted on the memorial in bright pink paint along with dumping bubble soap into the fountain at the center of the memorial, according to authorities.

Federal prosecutors allege that cleanup and restoration costs already exceeded $1,000.

Fox News Digital scanned Farris’ social media pages, which were cited in the court documents, and found she posted to Facebook Friday morning in a video.

“It’s me. I am going to turn myself in … I’m outside district federal court,” she said in a Facebook live.

I’m guessing this dipshit posted herself committing the crime? I’m not surprised, a lot of dummies video themselves committing crimes and then post it.

“I am just trying to do the right thing … I was trying to get people to listen… I tried to reach the media, I tried to fight back. I tried to ignore it,” she said in tears.

Farris claimed she lived in a paper-thin camper that she “boarded up with cardboard in the winter to feel a little bit warmer.”

Democrats and their pet media basically incite Dem voters to just go and commit crimes without considering the consequences.

“Vandalizing our World War II Memorial is a despicable attack on a sacred monument honoring the Americans who fought and died for our freedom. Those Americans include my father and grandfather. This morning, we are filing two felony charges, Depredation Against Property of the United States and Destruction of Veterans’ Memorials, in Federal District Court against Melissa L. Farris, offenses that carry penalties of up to ten years in prison. She is now in custody,” United States Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced earlier Friday morning.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was pled down to misdemeanors with a ton of community service.

Is Concern About AI And Data Centers That Huge An Issue For The Midterms?

American anxiety about AI is becoming a political force in the midterms

Across the United States, political candidates are grappling with an issue that has never before featured widely in American political life: artificial intelligence.

You can see it in candidates of both major parties trying to one-up each other with crackdowns on data centers.

Incumbents fighting to survive in toss-up districts racing to display their takes on AI and national security.

And progressive Democrats stress testing voter messaging about job-destroying automation.

Yeah, that one is about Islamist El-Sayed writing “We need real AI regulation to create guardrails and protect the ability for young people to have a job.” Seems he wants Government to run the economy

Hundreds of candidates for House, Senate or governor this year have staked out policies related to AI or data centers on their campaign websites, injecting the issue into nearly 40 percent of races across the country, according to an analysis by The Washington Post. There are likely more races where AI has been featured in candidate messaging through speeches, debates and social media posts.

More Democrats and Republicans spotlight AI policies on their websites than mention longer-established political topics including Israel, manufacturing and racism, according to the analysis that covered 1,200 websites of candidates still in the running as of Monday.

Campaign veterans, pollsters and political analysts say they’ve rarely seen a new issue become a force so quickly in American politics. “AI has gone from something no one cared about … to it being ubiquitous,” said Kyle Kondik, an elections analyst at the University of Virginia Center for Politics.

Who’s really talking about it, though? It looks like mostly people where data centers are located or being built and politicians. It almost looks more like politicians and the Credentialed Media yapping about something that a very small number of people care about

AI is likely to be an even hotter topic in the 2028 presidential campaign. Potential contenders such as Vice President JD Vance (R) and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) are already discussing potential AI policies.

But political experts say that neither Republicans nor Democrats have yet staked out clear positions that resonate with voters’ anxieties about the technology. “Whoever does that will reap rich political rewards,” predicted Alyssa Cass, a partner at Democratic political strategy firm Slingshot Strategies.

Opinion polls show that a significant share of Americans are “very concerned” about AI’s role in the economy, don’t want data centers near them and believe the computer hubs will raise utility bills, fear job losses from AI, and generally believe AI will do more harm than good.

But, when you’re talking about these kinds of issues, do polls with typically less than 1,500 people really represent the national mood?

The Post analysis found some differences emerging in how candidates of each major party discuss AI issues. Democrats running for House, Senate or governor this year are more than twice as likely as Republican candidates to discuss any topic related to AI or data centers on their campaign websites. (snip)

Political staffers and operatives say that left-wing Democrats are already testing broad AI policy platforms that they hope will resonate with voters in 2028. They’re hashing over policies that could insulate Americans from AI-related job losses, guard against rogue AI cyberattacks and protect children from AI dependency and abuses.

I guess they need a different topic other than TDS and Israel hate/support for Hamas, and another thing for government to control. Is it really that big, though? Or, is it an issue in search of an audience? Republican candidates are talking about it, too.

Good News: Honolulu Is Spending Their Climate Cash On Stuff

Has Honolulu considered banning the use of fossil fuels?

Here’s how Honolulu is spending its climate funds

Honolulu has set aside $9 million to expand community gardening, convert cesspools, and complete other climate projects this fiscal year.

That money comes from the city’s Climate Resiliency Fund, which voters approved in the 2024 election.

Special funds are not new — Honolulu has almost 70 such funds that finance everything from rental assistance to municipal golf courses. But the Climate Resiliency Fund is one of the first dedicated pots of money for climate adaptation work.

“This is not only unique for the City and County of Honolulu, but for all four counties in Hawai?i,” said Kealoha Fox, the executive director of the city’s Office of Climate Change, Sustainability and Resiliency, which administers the climate fund.

So, what is the city, which would be a backwards village without fossil fuels, doing with the money?

In its first year, the climate fund supported a loan program for cesspool conversions and an initiative to help residents retrofit their homes to lower electricity bills. Fox said those types of projects tackle multiple problems at once.

That has what to do with climate doom? Meh, you know they’ll have some sort of Answer, pulled out of their butts. I bet the people running this are hooked in and hooking up.

Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation is getting money from the climate fund this year for four projects — including one that will create a new community garden at Asing Community Park in ?Ewa Beach.

They need this because the price of lots of foods is high, because most is grown for ones own use or shipped in.

Residents will still have to wait a few years before their first harvests in ?Ewa, as construction likely won’t start on the new garden until 2027 or 2028.

Why the hell does it take that long?
