Your Fault: Heat Waves Are Totally Transforming

Say, is there any sort of data comparing this Holocene warm period to the others that have occurred over the last 8,000 years? Unsurprisingly, NY Times writer Delger Erdenesanaa fails to ask questions, just runs with the cult propaganda

Heat Waves Are Moving Slower and Staying Longer, Study Finds

When heat waves swept across large parts of the planet last summer, in many places the oppressive temperatures loitered for days or weeks at a time. As climate change warms the planet, heat waves are increasingly moving sluggishly and lasting longer, according to a study published on Friday.

Each decade between 1979 and 2020, the rate at which heat waves travel, pushed along by air circulation, slowed by about 5 miles per day, the study found. Heat waves also now last about four days longer on average.

Can we compare this to the massive heating of the 1930’s, which saw the middle part of the nation decimated and caused massive migrations to the West coast, despite there not being all that many fossil fueled vehicles? How about just going back further than 1979?

Anyhow, blah blah blah, lots of doom and gloom, all your fault

To examine the role of climate change, the researchers used models to simulate temperatures in scenarios with and without the warming from human greenhouse gas emissions. They found that the scenario with these emissions was the best match for what has actually happened to heat wave behavior, indicating that climate change is a major force behind these trends.

So, computer models rather than actual hard data? Shocking! And mostly worthless

The new study did find a correlation between a weaker jet stream and slower heat waves. Dr. White, however, thinks more research is needed to determine whether the jet stream is truly the cause.

Why? They’ll still blame this on Humanity. Did the same thing happen during the Roman Warm Period? Evil fossil fueled chariots

Dr. Zhang is especially concerned about cities, which are often hotter than their surrounding areas because of the urban heat island effect. “If those heat waves last in the city for much longer than before, that would cause a very dangerous situation,” he said.

While UHI is certainly man caused, it is not global, yet, the elevated temperatures are used to pad doomy temperature readings.

While waiting for international leaders to make progress on cutting greenhouse gas emissions and stopping climate change, Dr. Zhang said, local adaptation efforts are important to help keep people safer.

Or, the Warmists could practice what they preach.

Mr Teach averred: While UHI (Urban Heat Island) is certainly man caused, it is not global, yet, the elevated temperatures are used to pad doomy temperature readings.

So Mr Teach DOESN’T believe the Earth is warming – it’s a product of padded “doomy temperature readings”?

Arctic sea ice and the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica must read the doomy reports and are melting themselves as a result.

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Professor Teach proffered: Can we compare this to the massive heating of the 1930’s,

The heating of the 30s (actually the early 40s globally) resulted in a global mean surface temperature some 0.7°C cooler than now.

We know, we know, all the scientists’ data are faked to promote the scam.

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

What is the significance of 1979? That’s when the satellite measurement systems came online.

Don’t those stupid warmists and scientists realize that CO2 is plant food!!! Green plants incorporate carbon dioxide into carbohydrates, and energy from our Sun makes it all possible. Study after study has demonstrated that higher levels of CO2 in air makes plants grow faster and bigger! That’s a fact!!

On the other hand., in many strains of rice…

Declines of protein and minerals essential for humans, including iron and zinc, have been reported for crops in response to rising atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration, [CO2]. …
We report for the first time the integrated nutritional impact of those changes (protein, micronutrients, and vitamins) for the 10 countries that consume the most rice as part of their daily caloric supply. Whereas our results confirm the declines in protein, iron, and zinc, we also find consistent declines in vitamins B1, B2, B5, and B9 and, conversely, an increase in vitamin E.

Bigger is not always better! Well, except in sex.

Anyway, since atmospheric CO2 concentration [CO2] will continue to rise, humanity will need to devise solutions to remedy the diminution in crop nutrition. It has been suggested that selective breeding of crops and soil amendment with high nitrogen [N2] fertilizers can increase the nutritional content, an/or chemical supplementation of ultimate foodstuffs can ameliorate the lower quality.

Interesting that they don’t acknowledge that worldwide, cold still kills almost 10 times what heat does.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

And?? Are you claiming that global warming is a good thing?

In 2019, cold temperatures killed nearly four times as many people as warm temperatures, according to a new study from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. Today, cold temperature deaths are most common in Europe, Central and East Asia, and North America.

So would a warming climate actually be a net benefit for health? No — as temperatures increase globally, any reduced risk for death from cold will be more than offset by the increased risk from heat.

And from the despised EPA: In recent years, U.S. death rates in winter months have been 8 to 12 percent higher than in non-winter months.1 Much of this increase relates to seasonal changes in behavior and the human body, as well as increased exposure to respiratory diseases. Cold temperatures can also worsen pre-existing medical conditions such as cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. For example, death rates from heart attacks increase as temperatures drop, likely due to the way cold affects blood circulation, blood vessels, and other factors.2,3 Even moderately cold days can increase the risk of death for many people.

      Is that acknowledgement enough?

Correct-so warmer is better. But we already knew that
