Surprise: PRC Not Close To Keeping To Their Climate (scam) Goals

It’s so weird. Didn’t the majority of the citizens of the People’s Republik Of California vote for this? Don’t they support all this? Aren’t they out there reducing their own carbon footprints? Using less electricity? Selling their fossil fueled vehicles and buying an EV, taking the bus, walking and biking? Buying 2nd hand clothes?

California isn’t on track to meet its climate change mandates — and a new analysis says it’s not even close

California will fail to meet its ambitious mandates for combating climate change unless the state almost triples its rate of reducing greenhouse gases through 2030, according to a new analysis released today.

After dropping during the pandemic, California’s emissions of carbon dioxide, methane and other climate-warming gases increased 3.4% in 2021, when the economy rebounded. The increase puts California further away from reaching its target mandated under state law: emitting 40% less in 2030 than in 1990 — a feat that will become more expensive and more difficult as time passes, the report’s authors told CalMatters.

“The fact that they need to increase the speed of reduction at about three times faster than they’re actually doing — that does not bode well,” said Stafford Nichols, a researcher at Beacon Economics, a Los Angeles-based economics research firm, and a co-author of the annual California Green Innovation Index released today.

“As we get closer to that 2030 goal, the fact that we’re further off just means that we have to decrease faster each year.”

I have a solution: car manufacturers should stop selling fossil fueled vehicles in the state. Fossil fuels companies should stop selling their products to the PRC state government, slowly scaling back so they sell none. Which could create an issue for all the food production. Airlines should refuse to fly any state employee or elected official. And no fuel for the private jets of elected officials. All AC systems should be shut off at government buildings. It would be a good start, right?

Can everyone see my “Shocked!” face? Maybe if I move over a little…

That just means that somehow California managed to not pass enough new taxes and regulations to meet the aforementioned goals. In other words they haven’t strangled business and individuals enough. The boot’s not pressed tightly enough on the neck. Perhaps they should start imprisoning people who make too much money and failed to donate it to carbon credits so that leftist can bank more in they’re numbered accounts.

        CarolAnn,

Yes, pity poor communist California. Their GDP only increased 11.6% from 2022 to 2023. Their per capita GDP is only $100,000/year, fourth behind New York, Massachusetts and Washington. Is California really circling the drain? By contrast Mississippi’s per capita GDP is only $49,000.

California’s economy is larger than the UK, Russia, India, France, Brazil, Spain, Italy, etc, etc and so forth. Only the US, China, Japan (barely), Germany (barely) have larger economies!!

God Bless America and all our states and people!!!

Remove the billions in revenue that Hollywood brings to CA and you have a disaster.

They will not teach their ambitious goals ??? Meh.
            Coal ? Coal use
in the USA has been declining for years. 7 more coal fired electric plants are due to close in 2024. No more will be built in the USA. There will be more not less coal and wood fired pizzarias built.
In 2000 the average American produced the equivalent of 20 tons of C02. That has now dropped to 13 tons. Electric costs have averaged a skyrocketing 2% per year over the same time frame. Technology and science will continue to improve our lives

Now, THAT’S funny! Every time I visit CA (fewer and fewer visits required every year, thank God) I see zillions of gasoline cars with single occupants. Almost as if they don’t believe their own state’s BS.

The Pyrite State is finding out that saying that they’ll do something is much, much easier than actually doing it.

California is also the top electricity importing state, and as the government tries to force more Californians to buy those silly plug-in electric cars, their electricity needs will continue to grow.

Four of the five largest (exporting states), by percentage of total supply, produced more than half of their in-state electricity from coal, ranging from 51% in Montana to 91% in West Virginia. Wyoming is the nation’s largest coal-producing state; West Virginia, Montana, and North Dakota are also major coal producers.

The green movement works by exporting it’s “dirty” stuff to other states or third world countries.
