Doom Today: Climate Crisis (scam) Could Maybe Possibly Make Bananas More Expensive

The best they can offer is “in the next few decades”

Climate change will make bananas more expensive. Here’s why some experts say they should be already.

Industry experts say the price of bananas globally is very likely to rise due to the impact of climate change — but some believe paying more for bananas now could mitigate those risks.

Industry leaders and academics gathered this week in Rome for the World Banana Forum issued a warning over the impact climate change is having on production and supply chains on a global scale. But some also suggested that price hikes on grocery store shelves now could help prepare the countries where the fruit is grown to deal with the impacts of the warming climate.

As temperatures increase beyond optimal levels for banana growth, there’s a heightened risk of low yields, Dan Bebber, a British professor who’s one of the leading academics on sustainable agriculture and crop pathogens, told CBS News on Tuesday from Rome.

“Producers like Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica, will see a negative impact of rising temperatures over the next few decades,” he said. Some other countries, including major banana producer Ecuador, currently appear to be in a “safe space” for climate change, he added.

So, who loses their job when this doesn’t happen? Are there any penalties for fearmongering?

You do have to love that the climate cultists think the cost should be artificially increased now, eh? Now, if that did happen they would then forget that it was artificial and blame the increase on ‘climate change’.

Higher prices “will help those countries that grow our bananas to prepare for climate change, to put mitigation in place, to look after soils, to pay their workers a higher wage,” he said. “Consumers have benefited from very, very cheap bananas over the past few decades. But it’s not really a fair price, so that is really something that needs to be looked at.”

The price is the price. If the producers want to charge more, go for it. But, don’t play this little cult game.

  1. Professor Hale says:

So… if Central America becomes inhospitable to banana crops, wouldn’t that mean that large swaths of Mexico and Brazil become MORE hospitable to bananas and result in a total growth of banana and banana products and lowering of prices? Meanwhile, former banana plantations in central America become more hospitable to other crops like coffee, beans, cattle, and grains? Once again, the climate hysterics blare out on the DOOM of a few degrees change globally and don’t mention how all the benefits of higher temperatures offset those negatives. It’s almost as if they are just activists for more tax collection and don’t care at all about humans, standards of living, or the Planet (TM).

    FEAR MONGERING!!! OMG!!
This increase in banana prices is much much worse than those terrifying SPY BALLOONS.
In NYC bananas wholesale at 9 cents a pound
If the price doubled they still will be as cheap as shit

The apparently unconcerned about money Mr H wrote:

If the price doubled they still will be as cheap as shit

Mr H frequently uses this argument, but is apparently unaware that when you pile “cheap as shit” on top of more “cheap as shit” and more “cheap as shit”, eventually you get to not so inexpensive anymore.

        lol
Dana what percent of your household budget goes to bananas?
Most Americans spend 10% of their household budget on food. Under Biden food prices are up 25% in 3 years. That means that most American households now must spend 12% of their household budget on food. The 2 biggest reasons for this increase are increased energy costs and record breaking corporate profits. The energy prices are tied directly to the global price of oil which is set by the Saudis, the same ones who are pushing Trump to be POTUS. Our traditional Euro allies all want Biden. The Russians and Saudis want Trump.

Carbon boy-and who are the ones preaching this possible “doom”? It’s from a British “sustainability” professor via CBS news. In other words, it’s from your cult. Better not make fun of assertions from your cult-they may kick you out..

  4. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Mr Teach repeatedly asks “who loses their jobs if the doom doesn’t occur”. Who loses if it DOES occur and MAGAts stopped others from acting?

Premier Donald will jail the “warmists”!

    • L.G.Brandon!, L.G.Brandon! says:

You know Elwood, you were going along perfectly reasonably for radical insane leftist and you just couldn’t let it go could you? You had to add that stupid last sentence about premier Donald jailing warmists.

You have become completely unbalanced and unhinged and I blame it on the constant diet of far left propaganda you sound like a raving lunatic almost all the time.

Well, of course the answer is always to Spend More Money.

Bananas are just about the cheapest commonly eaten raw food. If production does change locations it will make them more expensive but hardly shattering to the American household food budget. If they must go to Mexico certainly the labor costs will “skyrocket”

Dana Haven’t you personally done much better under Biden with those “skyrocketing” soy prices? Have you no pity on the price those soy bois must now pay?

JL I don’t believe I must apologize for what extremists say about Global Warming. However, let’s all remember who was the first America politician to warn us about AGW from CO2. That was the Conservative Ronald Reagan who warned us about Global Warmimg back in the mid 1980s. Temps keep going up. Most humans are much poorer than you JL and already live in warmer subtropical climates. I would agree that the rise in temps that will happen during the remaining years of your life will have little impact on you personally. You will be able to control your own personal climate and your own electric bills will most probably increase at 2% per year as they have for the last 20 years.
