Good News: Americans Legally Purchased 60 Million Guns During Pandemic

It couldn’t possibly have anything to do with Americans seeing rioting in the streets of American cities for months on end from BLM/Antifa, with government authorities doing pretty much nothing, could it? Or all the smash and grabs, the looting, the violence?

Americans bought almost 60 million guns during the pandemic

One-fifth of U.S. households purchased guns during the pandemic, a national arming that exposed more than 15 million Americans to firearms in the home for the first time, academic studies show.

Americans purchased nearly 60 million guns between 2020 and 2022, according to an analysis by The Trace, a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization that tracks gun violence. Yearly gun sales are running at roughly twice the level of 15 or 20 years ago.

All the new weapons may be fueling a historic surge in gun deaths, which reached record highs during the same period.

Is it or is it not? That’s a hell of an allegation while providing zero proof.

“It’s not a rifle stored away somewhere that you take out twice a year to go hunting. It’s a handgun, probably a semiautomatic handgun, that you keep in your bedside table or in your glove compartment, or that you maybe carry around with you.”

The COVID-19 pandemic triggered a run on gun shops, part of a larger national spasm of panic-buying that gripped the country at a moment when many Americans thought society might collapse.

“There was fear, and real concern, about what happens to the country during a global pandemic,” said Nick Suplina, senior vice president of law and policy at Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun-control nonprofit.

No, The Hill will not mention all the violence from Democrat voters in mostly Democrat run cities, which is one of the main causes of purchases. However, the government authoritarianism during Wuhan Flu certainly enticed some to purchase a firearm for protection. All the calls to defund the police was another reason

More Americans died from gun violence in 2020 and 2021 than in any prior year on record. Gun-related homicides and suicides totaled 48,830 in 2021. Shootings of children nearly doubled during the pandemic.

How many were committed by those who legally purchased a firearm, particularly during the COVID years? They don’t say

The link between rising gun ownership and rising gun violence is hard to prove. Yet, “gun ownership rates track very closely to gun fatalities,” Fleegler said. “If you want to know where people are dying by guns, look where the guns are.”

See? I told you they had zero proof. Just an allegation.

A quick look at the mission statement on the “About” page of The Trace is fairly telling.

  2. Professor Hale says:

Just goes to prove democrats don’t understand Americans. Dems think if they overhype kids being killed they can seize guns. (it worked in UK and New Zealand). But Americans hear that message and conclude they need to buy more guns to protect their own children from all that crime and crazy people.

If Dems understood Americans, they would just stop talking about crime, stop supporting candidates who had crazy policies and NEVER talk about children being killed. Then Americans would not feel threatened and buy a new TV instead.

  3. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Although the increase in deaths with firearms correlates with gun purchases, that in itself proves nothing.

The problem is with the kind of people who are buying the guns.

Professor Hale describes the typical American as too stupid to tell fact from fiction and he may be right. They buy artillery to protect their families from marauders but are more likely to kill each other or send a child to school with a pistol in a backpack than kill a Black burglar ringing their doorbell. Anyway, your AR-15 is a poor home defense tool.

Overhyping schoolkids being murdered?? It’s a small price to pay for FREEDOM, right? And how does your AR-15 at home save schoolchildren?

Now that we have more guns than grown-ups when might we expect to see the murder rate drop?

Your unsecured firearm at home is more of a threat to you and yours than are those schoolkids and ‘vicious animals’.

AR-15s kill more schoolkids, theater goers, shoppers, picnickers, party goers and concert attendees than ‘bad guys’. And dat’s a fack, jack.

    More guns, fewer crimes!

The states that have the highest rate of gun ownership have the highest rate of death by gun
    NYC???
New York City has a lower rate if gun deaths than most states
Please posters tell us how safe state your is in comparison to the crazy NYC .
    Please

There has never been an incident where an AR-15 got up and went to a school, theatre, mall, picnic, party or concert and murdered anybody. It was 100% bad guys that did the killing and removing my AR-15 or yours or any other law abiding American’s weapon won’t change that fact jack.

Ridiculing the American desire for FREEDOM! does nothing but make you look foolish. It may make a big hit at Vox, Hufpo or The View but here you get the opposite response. Know your audience. At this blog we are sane and mature enough to realize freedom and evil people murdering others are not related. We believe people are responsible for their own actions not those of ruthless criminals or slave owning democrats from 150 years ago. And we are not willing to sacrifice our freedoms on the alter of criminal acts or historic slavers.

If you are serious about stopping murders EXECUTE THE FUCKING MURDERERS!!!
