‘My life forever changed’: Fiancé of Raleigh mass shooting victim advocates for gun safety bills
The fiancé of a Raleigh mass shooting victim spoke Tuesday with state Democratic leaders about proposed changes to North Carolina’s gun laws.
Rob Steele lost his fiancée Mary Marshall in the October 2022 mass shooting in Raleigh’s Hedingham neighborhood. Marshall was among five people killed.
“My life forever changed Oct. 13 of [2022],” Steele said of his late wife. “She was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Steele joined Democratic leaders Tuesday at the General Assembly as they introduced multiple gun safety bills. It included House Bill 281– the red flag law – sponsored by state Rep. Marcia Morey, D-Durham, that would temporarily restrict a person’s access to a gun, if they are a danger to themselves or others.
The kid was underage and did not own guns. He took them from his parents. Were there any indications that would have caused a red flag to be played? Would a red flag allow the guns of the adults to be taken? Explain how this law would have stopped the unhinged nutter.
Steele said he believes red flag laws help save lives.
“It’s time for North Carolina to have a judge that can make decisions that a gun owner is not responsible and safe to have their gun,” Steele said. “Allow a judge to take the gun for a temporary amount of time so that [the gun owner] can get help.”
The kid wasn’t a gun owner.
Morey also introduced House Bill 284, which would allow law enforcement to destroy unclaimed guns, or those confiscated after crimes.

Senate Bill 210 – known as the Gun Violence Prevention Act – would require authorization to purchase an assault weapon or long gun, and require a waiting period of 72 hours before it’s delivered.

That is more than 100 killed each day.
Does the 2nd amendment cover all citizens including felons ? Or does it just cover some citizens? Who should be “infringed” do felons have a right to resist “tyrannical” government?

Using a gun in the commission of a crime is a crime itself. Once a felon, one looses his RTKABA. You shoud know who the Second covers. We assume you are an adult. Of those gun deaths 54% were suicides, 43% murder, the other 3% were unintentional, killed by cops and undetermined circumstances.
So about 18,500 were murders. We can assume the vast amount suicides would just use other means as would murders. The other 3% are all we may have control over.
It’s so amusing to me that the same idiots who support the killing of 350,000 prenatal babies every year bitch so much about people dying from gun use. That entire 350,000 number are murders. Not a suicide among them.

i didn’t look up the numbers but from stats i’ve seen before, of those 18500, the majority of those happen in large demtard run cities with normally stricter gun laws…any law the demtards want to pass when it comes to American being able to have a gun and protect themselves is a law that hampers the ability of law abiding citizens from protecting themselves…they want us all disarmed…
It’s inexplicable how most homicides occur where people are, for example, cities.
Oddly, fewer murders are committed where there are few people.
When cities enact gun-grab laws they almost ALWAYS neglect to check every person entering the city every day for guns.
Libtards argue that… “but, but… gun restrictions work in other advanced nations!” This ignores that Japan, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Switzerland et al differ ‘demographically’ from the US. American ‘urbanites’ are among the most violent people on Earth. Even if every Fin in Helsinki carried two pistols there would not be as many homicides as seen per capita in Louisville.
Since more guns = less crime, it’s clear we still have too few guns in circulation. Although America has over 390 million guns, only 40% of households have guns. We have a distribution problem!
All this talk about grabbing guns only serves to encourage criminals.

The text is clear and definitive. The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
No mention of felons, age, mental status, citizen status etc. Those that most need protection, ex-cons, homeless/mentally ill, impoverished, immigrants and children are largely prevented from legally possessing necessary firearms. Democrats who control everything won’t even allow our children to protect themselves at school.
