UN General Secretary Wants To Stop The “Relentless War On Nature” Or Something

Hey, maybe the U.N. could start with ending all the massive amount of private fossil fueled flights from all over the world?

UN Secretary-General: ‘No more baby steps’ on climate change

United Nations officials on Monday called for urgent and immediate action to address global problems such as climate change, nuclear threats and human rights during the opening session of its general assembly in New York.

This must be “a year of game-changing climate action” on climate, pollution and water, said Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during a speech on his 2023 priorities.

“We must end the merciless, relentless and senseless war on nature. It is putting our world at immediate risk of hurtling past the 1.5-degree temperature increase limit and now still moving toward a deadly 2.8 degrees.

“Meanwhile, humanity is taking a sledgehammer to our world’s rich biodiversity — with brutal and even irreversible consequences for people and planet,” he said. “Our ocean is choked by pollution, plastic and chemicals and vampiric overconsumption is draining the lifeblood of our planet — water.”

“We need disruption to end the destruction,” he added. “No more baby steps.”

Oh, you mean like the vast amounts of masks all over the landscape and the oceans and lakes and waterways, masks that did not do a damned thing? Masks that the UN recommended? Anyhow, the oceans are much cleaner than decades ago, but, we can do more, and do more for the environment. Which has nothing to do with the climate apocalypse.

Guterres invited government, business and civil society leaders across the world to a September climate summit with one condition: “Show us accelerated action in this decade and renewed ambitious net zero plans – or please don’t show up.”

Oh, good, thousands of people taking long fossil fueled flights.

    Mr Teach:

…maybe the U.N. could start with ending all the massive amount of private fossil fueled flights…

Aviation accounts for 2% of global CO2 emissions. So, we suspect the UN contributes less than that.

Honestly. If the UN halted all travel would that influence Mr Teach’s thinking on global warming? Sounds as if he values “virtue signalling”.

It doesn’t matter if it’s 2% or 20% if you’re a hypocrite cut it out. First of all use zoom second lead by example. You radical leftists (commies) really have a penchant for not doing what you demand from others.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Using zoom is not energy-free either. Alinskyesque global warming deniers (GWDs) will attack them for using zoom. Mailing letters is not energy-free either.

        4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”

GWDs like Mr Teach rely on Rule 4 as well as the tactical fallacy of “All or None” thinking. Unless one gives up 100% of fossil fuel use, they are a hypocrite to be ridiculed!!

        5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

Anyway, it’s entertaining when so-called “science-based” conservatives claim they’ll change their “science-based” positions based on what their philosophical enemies say and do!!

Anyway, anyway… there is a neverending supply for unserious cons to target – “A hybrid? Get an EV, hypocrite!” “EV?? Using coal generated power? Hypocrite!” “You communicate by cell phone? Write letters, hypocrite!”

Computer use emits about 300 megatons of CO2/year. Total global CO2 emissions are about 36 gigatons/year. So, computer use generates less that 1% of total CO2 emissions.

According to Mr Teach, no one has the moral authority to call for reducing CO2 emissions unless they get off the internet!!

If not airplanes and computers and cell phones, where does all that CO2 come from??

        Transportation: 27%
        Electricity Generation: 25%
        Agriculture: 11%
        Commercial & Residential: 13%
        Industry: 24%

We get it. Cons are not interested in the environment or others. Cons just love to fight. They don’t “believe” that global warming is a threat so they use every lazy, specious argument they can imagine.

According to The New York Times, it’s 4%.

  2. Facts Matter says:

60 minutes did a big story on the 4th extinction-level event last year.

I understand why the left is shaking in their boots.

The fourth extinction-level event is happening right now.

Too many people and not enough resources and of course AGW is very inconvenient for them as it opens up billions of new habitable acres to both feed the people and house them.

So what is the position of the world governments? STARVE THE PEOPLE. Support wars. Ukraine, Middle East. It is why the left with both houses of congress vs Bush did not pull the plug on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If one follows the hunger and starvation around the world you will find that Black people are inordinately targeted by their own governments as 12 of the 13 hungriest nations all reside in Africa. The 13th?

HAITI. Off the shores of the USA.

So to understand why the left does the things they do. Understand their motives in the context of their sheer terror of the 4th extinction level event.

The Mexican Drug War is an ongoing conflict between the Mexican government and multiple powerful and violent drug trafficking cartels. It is estimated that the war on drugs has led to at least 350,000 deaths—with more than 72,000 people still missing—from January 2006 to May 2021.

The key here is DEAD PEOPLE.

Fentanyl overdose deaths in 2021 were over 26 times higher than a decade prior according to our own government stats.

Covid killed how many? More deaths, less mouths to feed.

Why did the left not force Bush out of the middle east. Why did the left allow Obama to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why did the left get angry when Trump refused to start new wars in the Middle East and of course any time he acted he was castigated.

Why do the people of the world do the things that they do? It is because they are convinced we are in the 4th extinction level event. Right now Russia/Ukraine account for 60 percent of the world’s fertilizers. Those aint shipping. People that are starving now are going to get worse.

CHINA depends on 90 percent of its stuff coming from outside its borders in order to feed, clothe and shelter its own people. That is drying up.

Russia is already down 1.5 million BBLS of oil per day and the permafrost oil wells are breaking down. When they stop pumping they freeze up and destroy the well inside out. That is another 2.5 million BBLS of oil per day.

The NATURAL GAS pipeline was blown up by the west.

Germany depends on energy to produce everything internally. It is the country that depends on no oe else but itself for all its productions and manufacture and food. But to do that it needs energy. To offset the 40 percent it gets from Russia it has gone to the open market to buy natural gas and oil. Not for energy but these things are needed to MAKE STUFF.

All of this of course is leading to the great reset.

NOW the newest reset is no longer will nations be forced to pay INTEREST on its loans and debt. This will free up 450 billion per year for the USA alone. 5 trillion around the world that can be fed back into the world.

This extra 5 trillion will force the world into hyperinflationary catastrophe.

    Why? What on earth?

Simple the people that be want the worlds population to starve to death and it is coming.

China is a mere 6 months from collapse of the UKRAINE/RUSSIA continues. Which is why the left is feeding billions to UKRAINE to keep the war going.

Germany will collapse in less that 2 years now because of the conflict.

UK never thought Brexit through and now the EU has ostracized them forcing the to turn to the USA/CANADA for survival as in trade. The USA says fine but not until you give up your AIRBUS connections and join the BOEING CONNECTION.

UH…UK provides all the wings and engines for Airbus. If they follow through then Airbus goes belly up or at least in rapid decline for a decade or more.

Philippines and Japan are fostering the arrival of more USA naval and military forces and for the first time, Japan is starting to build a NUCLEAR DETERRENCE.

I fear that these AGW/Extinction level lunatics are no longer afraid of limited nuclear exchanges but one thing is clear in what is emerging since NEVER LET A GOOD CRISIS GO TO WASTE COVID.

The people are not dying fast enough for them.

TL:DR You should read it then do your own research. It is scary what is about to happen in the coming year or two.

  3. I have no problem with the Secretary General advocating that, because the Secretary General and the United Nations have no actual power to do anything. I get urinated off when people who have the actual power to impose greater costs and burdens on the public do so.

  4. Jl says:

“This must be the year of game-changing climate action…”. Funny, he never says why. Is this the same UN that said in 1989 that we have 20 years left to “save the planet”? It’s easy to make proclamations when you have no shame of being wrong all the time.

  5. Professor Hale says:

There is a LOT of money to be made by getting Americans to pay energy taxes to the UN. UN Bureaucrats hope to get a piece of that action. It’s as simple as that. It is not believable on any level that the corrupt UN is motivated by anything other than more and better corruption. They will ride any pony to get there. We don’t need to look at the science or even argue the merits of climate change. If the UN is involved, it is only about them getting rich by skimming something off the top.

  6. Elwood P. Dowd says:

The NYT tweeter said “Air travel accounts for about 4% of human-induced global warming”.

Scientists say 3.5% of global warming, 2.5% of total CO2 emissions.

Flying is a highly controversial topic in climate debates. It accounts for around 2.5% of global CO? emissions, but 3.5% when we take non-CO? impacts on climate into account.

    My apologies.
