Mayor Pete Admits Masking On Airplanes Isn’t About Science

Let’s be honest, most of us know that mask do little to nothing in stopping a virus, which is smaller than the weave in masks. It won’t stop a cold, the flu, or WuhanFlu. At best, it might help a tiny bit, especially in terms of spreading it, and perhaps from you not being able to touch your face directly. So, what was the point? Remember, the original guidance from the CDC was that if you were sick or felt sick to wear a mask (better yet, stay home), and wasn’t changed till May 31st. A year ago

Buttigieg confronted on science for face mask mandates on airplanes — he admits it’s a ‘matter of respect’

surprise surprise surpriseTransportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg admitted Sunday that continued face mask requirements on public transportation under the jurisdiction of federal regulators is a “matter of respect” — not science.

Just last month, the Transportation Security Administration extended face mask requirements “across all transportation networks throughout the United States, including at airports, onboard commercial aircraft, on over-the-road buses, and on commuter bus and rail systems through September 13.”

The requirement went into effect on Feb. 1, less than two weeks after President Joe Biden’s inauguration.

Despite proponents of pandemic-related restrictions arguing protective measures are necessary because science supports them, Buttigieg said Sunday that continued restrictions on transportation is not a matter of science at all.

During an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” host Martha Raddatz questioned Buttigieg why federal transportation guidelines deviate from CDC recommendations.

Buttigieg claimed “the differences have to do with the physical space” and alleged restrictions are “driven by public health considerations,” but said that, ultimately, continuing to wear a face mask and follow pandemic-related restrictions the CDC says are no longer necessary for fully vaccinated Americans is about “respect.”

“It’s a matter of safety but it’s also a matter of respect,” Buttigieg said. “And as we get back and as we’re so thankful to get back to the skies, to get back on the road, to get back to loved ones, let’s make sure we are doing it in a way that we can all be proud of.”

Huh. Remember, the CDC has stated that airplanes were pretty safe, and you had little chance of catching Bat Soup Virus, to the point that the planes were packed for the Christmas travel season, blowing off even social distancing rules (which was rather disconcerting, I will say). It’s actually one of the problems with everyone masking up: people felt entitled to enter the social distancing space, getting too close to people. They felt empowered. Just give me space. Which you do not get on airplanes, right? What respect is Pete talking about? Maybe bad breath? How many issues were created because masks which don’t work create on airplanes? How many are they still causing because the flight crews are just trying to follow the federal rules? Which Joe Biden doesn’t follow.

It’s about respect, huh? Respect for whom?

Let’s tell the truth here: it’s not about respect for other mass transit passengers, but about showing fealty to respect to the government’s authority.

William Teach: mask do little to nothing in stopping a virus, which is smaller than the weave in masks

The size of the virus is irrelevant, since the virus is largely carried on moisture droplets/aerosols. Masks are not absolute protection but do reduce the risk of transmission as demonstrated empirically.

Why do you think that influenza was hardly transmitted in the US in 2020? We know, we know, connies believe “they” (the Deep State/Big Medicine/WHO/CDC CON-spiracists) attributed deaths by flu, car crashes and COPD to Covid.

Do CON-spiracists actually believe the “fascist Deep State TSA” is planning to keep masks mandatory indefinitely?

    The things CON-spiracists worry about…

Except, of course, we are finding out that mask wearing didn’t mean anything . . . other than exercising government control:

Mask mandate and use efficacy in state-level COVID-19 containment

Results Case growth was not significantly different between mandate and non-mandate states at low or high transmission rates, and surges were equivocal. Mask use predicted lower case growth at low, but not high transmission rates. Growth rates were comparable between states in the first and last mask use quintiles adjusted for normalized total cases early in the pandemic and unadjusted after peak Fall-Winter infections. Mask use did not predict Summer 2020 case growth for non-Northeast states or Fall-Winter 2020 growth for all continental states.

Conclusions Mask mandates and use are not associated with slower state-level COVID-19 spread during COVID-19 growth surges. Containment requires future research and implementation of existing efficacious strategies.

We saw this in the real world, where the Lone Star State eliminated the mask mandate on March 10th, and we were told that doom, doom, doom! would follow. It didn’t, and the rate of new infections in Texas was lower than in some mask mandate states.

I’ll tell you what really happened, though there are no studies to confirm it. Far, far more people contracted the virus than we ever knew, and the vast majority were completely asymptomatic and never tested. Their immune systems developed a natural defense, because that’s what immune systems are supposed to do.

Now, is there another explanation for the rapid drop in new infections, a decline which far exceeded the vaccination rate? Perhaps there is, but, if so, no one has told me about it yet.

Here in the Bluegrass State, we had the mask mandate, but at least outside of the metropolitan areas, it was frequently honored in the breach. I’ve already mentioned two local businesses in which masks were simply not in evidence, and I suspect there were more, in businesses I did not patronize.

      Except when they don’t…

Our findings do not support the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 transmission rates decrease with greater public mask use. Masks may promote social cohesion as rallying symbols during a pandemic, but risk compensation can also occur.” University of Louisville study.

      Look it up, dipshit.

A surgical mask has, per 3M, 100 micron pores. That’s a disparity of about 400 times vs. a virus and it’s particle. Let’s leave out the draped, unsealed way a mask is worn. A chain-link fence would do better against mosquitoes.
Nothing more than a filthy talisman. Mandated religious-wear.
