Hot Take: “The Capital Riots Highlighted Corporations’ Hypocrisy On Climate Denialism”

That’s the actual headline at MSNBC on the front page

The headline in story is slightly different, but, either way, same screed. The Cult of Climastrology is finally finding their groove in blaming/linking ‘climate change’ for the riots

(MSNBC) Last month, I co-published an article with the newsletter Popular Information exposing six corporations that “talk green but spend dirty.” Like so many articles we’ve written before, the piece showed how corporate America markets itself as a friend to the climate while directly funding climate deniers.

How dare these corporations using their own money in a manner they want!!!!! Cites like MSNBC called Trump and his supporters Fascists for 4 years, yet, are actually the ones wanting to limit what other people can say.

It’s fantastic that corporate America is finally starting to reckon with its role in spreading deadly, democracy-endangering misinformation. Since the violent riots on Jan. 6, at least 23 major companies now say they will no longer donate to lawmakers who voted against certifying the results of the election. To them, denying the results of a free and fair election has become politically unacceptable.

But denying a scientifically proven crisis that’s killing millions of people, particularly Black and brown ones, is still politically fine. Exactly zero of the companies that have pledged to cut off politicians who spread misinformation about the election have also pledged to cut off politicians who spread misinformation about the climate crisis, which has already killed far more people, and stands to kill far more.

This is how cults work: if A then purple, link the two in some manner.

Take Comcast, for example (not part of our original Popular Information piece). When the telecommunications giant announced a freeze on donations to election deniers, it called the riots they inspired “appalling.” But Comcast donated to Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., who was re-elected to his fifth term in November and whose decadeslong crusade against climate science has inspired Trump’s climate-destructive policies more than any other sitting lawmaker. In 2020, the company gave $10,000 to keep Inhofe in power.

Nope, nothing Fascist at all about attempting to shame a company for daring to give money to political opponents of Democrats.

Corporations are pausing contributions to election deniers because they don’t want to be seen as contributing to misinformation and violence. Well, guess what: They are contributing to misinformation and violence when they bankroll climate deniers. And I’m not just talking about violence to the planet and ecosystems. I’m talking about right-wing political violence, armed anti-government insurrections and white nationalism.

Cult. BTW, when does MSNBC go carbon neutral?

It works so well for climate the fascists decided to use it for elections. If I think MMGW is wrong in any way idiots like Elwood label me a “climate denier”. Now if I believe the fascists cheated in an election in any way Elwood will call me an “election denier”.

You gotta give the enemies of Freedom and America credit they do stick with what works. While we’re trying to defend ourselves from the “denier” bullshit they’re doing things like
pretender elect Xiden will tap Anita Dunn, an Obama-administration alumna who praised Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong’s political philosophy, for senior White House adviser, Axios reported Friday.

Dunn’s last stint in the White House ended after just seven months, when she resigned after former Fox News anchor Glenn Beck aired a clip of the then-communications director saying Mao was one of her “favorite political philosophers.”

As a refresher, what Dunn claimed to admire most about Mao was boiled down to his “unique” approach to governance. “You’re going to make choices…. You’re going to figure out how to do things that have never been done before.”

To be fair, that was certainly true about Mao Zedong. By the time his bloody reign finally ended, it’s estimated that he wound up killing more than 45 million people. Hitler and Stalin were absolute pikers compared to Mao. In that sense, he clearly figured out how to “do things that had never been done before.”

      Kye,

      Here’s the deal.

The scientific theory that increased greenhouse gases are causing the Earth to warm is supported by overwhelming evidence accumulated over at least the last century. That’s why it’s a theory, which contrary to popular belief, is a rigorous foundation of science. To deny the evidence is unreasonable. Science deniers backed by millions of dollars have been unable to falsify the theory after decades of trying. That’s not to say the theory can’t be falsified, only that it hasn’t been.

The claim that millions of illegal votes were cast in favor of Mr Biden and Sen Harris is supported by dubious “evidence”, at best. It’s neither a theory nor a hypothesis, it’s a claim, and spurious at that.

That you support a violent rebellion against the United States of America based on trump’s claims is unreasonable and increasingly dangerous. Trump has built himself a “citizen-army” of violent criminals (and he’s not yet finished) and the United States will have to squelch this rebellion. It may take years.

We have no interest in what you “believe”, only in what you can prove with evidence.

Hypocrite Elwood P. Dowd is here repeating his Masters’ hypocrisy I see.
        Typical day.
        I would think he’d get a life.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Speaking of getting a life… Here’s Bill with absolutely nothing to say, but taking time out of his “busy” day to say nothing anyway. He must be a disciple of the puppy.

      • Jl says:

Oh, now isn’t this good-“science deniers backed by millions…” I see, as opposed to science alarmists backed by billions? “To deny the evidence is unreasonable”. Actually, it’s very reasonable. In fact, as stated before, there’s never been a simple experiment showing that CO2 doesn’t make an object that’s emitting LWIR 15um warmer by simply adding more CO2. There’s also thousands of skeptical peer-reviewed papers. And more importantly, even if it is getting warmer, there’s absolutely no evidence that’s it’s dire for the planet. On the contrary, the evidence is that it’s beneficial

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Kye and the odious glennbeck misinterpret Anita Dunn’s quip. She made the joke that Mao and Mother Teresa were her favorite two political philosophers. See the comedic contrast between the two? Conservatives and fellow assholes such a Blenn Geck pounced! What was the quote she repeated from GOP rat-fukker Lee Atwater? “You fight your war, I’ll fight mine” from Mao when asked how he could possibly defeat Chiang Kai-shek. Her point was not to give up, even when the odds are stacked against you.

Newton Gingrich has also quoted Mao. Is Newt a communist? Is Karl Rove?

Most of what NuCons believe/feel to be true is actually false.

  2. Est1950 says:

The right needs to join the left in crushing Corporations.

The corporations have joinned the lunatic left for fear of being canceled and yet well more than 60 percent of their income is derived by the right…study concludes.

Shop mom and pops. Certainly tell Amazon and google to fuk off. Stop shopping at CHINA MART er I mean Walmart. Only frequent corporations that are fair and balanced and havent told the right to piss off.

The right always had corporations backs and now we have been pissed all over. Fuk them. I say let the left tax them at 50 percent. We can buy most of our stuff from mom and pops. Lets bring small business back to America again.

    • Est1950 says:

There are many ways, and many strategies to take back America from the lunatic left.

      Not one strategy works.

I say raise the minimum wage to 20 bucks an hour, not 15. I say give us all 2000.00 a month checks. I say stop shopping at corporations. Buy Tesla’s and bankrupt the big 5 automakers. I say lets bring in medicare for all and bankrupt the insurance and drug industry.

The left wants all this stuff but always depend on the right to stop them so they can then put us at each others throats while they go out for cocktails.

I say let the left have what they want.

CLOWARD AND PIVEN THE SHIT OUT OF THIS COUNTRY. Many Strategies to destroy the lunatic far left once and for all.

  3. Dana says:

Why should this article be a surprise? The big media outlets have all jumped on the bandwagon of claiming that President Trump’s speech was simply too dangerous to be allowed, and the sheeple said, “It is good.” Then, just a couple of days later, Amazon, proud company of Jeff Bezos, owner of The Washington Post, whose tagline is “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” cut off Parler’s service, made Parler go dark, and the sheeple nodded their heads sagely, and said, “It is good.”

Good, loyal Americans, Americans who grew up knowing and respecting and using their freedom of speech are now saying that that freedom should be taken away from those they deem dangerous.

So, with all of those good, loyal Americans saying that speech should be restricted, then why should we be surprised that a particular interest group, this time the warmunists, want to restrict the people they believe are evil, evil, evil? After all, if only their beliefs, if only their policy proposals are allowed public dissemination, then there’s really no chance that they might lose, right?

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Anti-government extremist Daniel Alan Baker was arrested in Florida for posting words urging armed Americans to gather and defend the Florida Capitol Building from other anti-government extremists. The FBI said his words were threatening. Thoughts?

Does the Constitution allow ANY limits on speech?

Private companies are not obligated to allow any and all speech on their platforms. Criticism and boycotts are appropriate to attempt to force them to allow violent threats.

      • Dana says:

We have received certain intelligence that General Carleton, the Governor of Canada, is instigating the people of that province and the Indians to fall upon us; and we have but too much reason to apprehend, that schemes have been formed to excite domestic enemies against us. In brief, a part of these colonies now feels, and all of them are sure of feeling, as far as the vengance of administration can inflict them, the complicated calamities of fire, sword, and famine.-We are reduced to the alternative of chusing an unconditional submission to the tyranny of irritated ministers, or resistance by force.-The latter is our choice.-We have counted the cost of this contest, and find nothing so dreadful as voluntary slavery.-Honor, justice, and humanity, forbid us tamely to surrender that freedom which we received from our gallant ancestors, and which our innocent posterity have a right to receive from us. We cannot endure the infamy and guilt of resigning succeeding generations to that wretchedness which inevitably awaits them, if we basely entail hereditary bondage upon them.

Our cause is just. Our union is perfect. Our internal resources are great, and, if necessary, foreign assistance is undoubtedly attainable.-We gratefully acknowledge, as signal instances of the Divine favour towards us, that his Providence would not permit us to be called into this severe controversy, until we were grown up to our present strength, had been previously exercised in warlike operation, and possessed of the means of defending ourselves,-With hearts fortified with these animating reflections, we most solemnly, before God and the world, declare, that, exerting the utmost energy of those powers, which our beneficent Creator hath graciously bestowed upon us, the arms we have been compelled by our enemies to assume, we will, in defiance of every hazard, with unabating firmness and perseverance, employ for the preservation of our liberties; being with our [one] mind resolved to dye Free-men rather than live Slaves.

        — Thomas Jefferson and John Dickenson, on the Necessity of Taking Up Arms, 1775, magnificent.

We have a rather long history of taking up arms and urging others to do so, for the defense of our rights. Our generation of patriots used their freedom of speech and freedom of the press, freedom which only existed because the British couldn’t find and suppress all of the patriots and presses, to free Americans from King George and his Parliament. To President Jefferson, the idea that the government should be able to limit speech was appalling, as were the Alien and Sedition Acts passed under his predecessor.

Our freedom of speech, of religion, of the press, of assembly, and the right to keep and bear arms, were vitally important to the patriots, to the Framers of the Constitution, because these were the things they used to win our freedom from Great Britain. Yet today, the left would take awy those rights and those freedoms, because they believe that such will cement their temporary victories.

But most Americans are made of sterner stuff. If you take away our right to speak, if you stifle our ability to use the press, then all that will be left is to take up arms.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

And another promoter from the “watering the tree of liberty…” school.

Your freedom to speak has not been compromised by government. Your right to free and fair elections has not been compromised. Your ability to use the press (whatever do you mean?) has not been stifled.

We understand how upset right-wingers are. Your charismatic leader has been deposed. He couldn’t handle defeat and started combitching relentlessly about unsubstantiated rampant election fraud. His cult followers took the bait and ended up assaulting the US Capitol Building, the seat of American democracy in an attempt to overturn the election or to overthrow the American government.

You can win by getting more votes in the coming elections. Or you can try to overthrow America.

  4. Elwood P. Dowd says:

Corporations are obligated to make money for their shareholders by legal means. Appearing to be sympathetic to “green” issues is a plus for corporations. Electing Republicans who will cut regulations and taxes for corporations, while opposing “green” initiatives is also good for a corporation.

Contrary to TEACH’s absolutely ridiculous claim that criticism of a corporation is FASCISM, pointing out the hypocrisy is appropriate. Corporations have adequate money and lawyers to defend themselves.

  5. Jl says:

And again, we have another lazy “intellectual” argument. “Corporations hypocrisy on climate denialism”. Lazy in that it starts with the false premise that corporations are supposed to toe the agw line. How convenient-then you don’t have to offer any evidence that they do.
