Hooray: ‘Climate Change’ Finally Polls Number One Or Something

This is very exciting news for the Cult of Climastrology

The voters are in: climate change is No. 1

Conducted by CNN, the poll found that 82 percent of voting Democrats (including left-leaning Independents) listed climate change as a “top priority” that they’d like to see presidential candidates focus on. The next-highest issue was universal health care, at 75 percent, followed by gun reform, at 65 percent.

Wouldn’t you know it, young people, in particular, feel climate change is a major priority. In a recent Harvard poll, likely voters between 18 and 29 said they’d favor action on the climate crisis even if it hurts economic growth. And, according to the same survey, a high percentage of young people plan to vote.

So, yeah, this was a poll which only asked Democrats certain questions, and it starts out “Q18. How important is it to you that the Democratic candidate for president supports (ITEM)? Very important, somewhat important, not too important, or not at all important?” The answers include (page ten of the poll)

  • Taking aggressive action to slow the effects of climate change
  • Providing health insurance for all Americans through the government, a plan sometimes called “Medicare for-all”
  • Taking executive action if Congress fails to pass stricter gun laws
  • Making public colleges tuition free
  • Impeaching Donald Trump
  • Paying reparations to the descendants of enslaved people
  • Restoring voting rights for all convicted felons, regardless of the severity of their crime or whether they have finished serving their sentence

These are the silly things that Concern Democrats. Congratulations to the Cult for finally ranking #1 among people who actually Believe. Now, try the poll with things like the economy, good jobs, terrorism, illegal immigration, etc, and see how it goes. ‘Climate change’ action is the leading nutter answer among nutter answers.

  1. Professor Hale says:

Wow. This is such a surprising result. The top three issues for liberals turn out to be the exact same three things that the liberal media has been telling them are the top three things.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Wow. Are you sure that’s true?

The media have been asleep at the switch on global warming. Is your point that media should stop reporting on wildfires, floods and droughts? It’s more likely people just better understand the magnitude of the problem.

And Americans have long supported single-payer universal healthcare. Conservatives will slow it, but it’s going to happen.

      • formwiz says:

These are the kids in school or living with Mommy and Daddy.

Wait till they actually have to make a living.

Americans have long supported single-payer universal healthcare.

Discounting Leftists as Americans, which Americans do you mean ? Dead ones, I presume.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

          formwiz,

We mean Americans who answer polls. Unfortunately for you and your hatred, American liberals are still Americans, regardless of how much you would wish to expel them from your phantasmagorica, ChristoCaucasistan.

Here’s an interesting article arguing AGAINST single-payer (and Bernie Sanders):

          https://medcitynews.com/2019/04/dont-let-the-single-payer-perfect-be-the-enemy-of-the-universal-healthcare-good/

“Nearly 30 million Americans remained uninsured as of 2017, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation. The Commonwealth Fund ranks us dead last among industrialized countries in healthcare-preventable mortality. That’s despite our spending more on healthcare than any other country, $10,739 per capita in 2017, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, equaling $3.5 trillion and 17.9 percent of GDP. And not a day goes by without heartbreaking news of patients and their families forced into medical bankruptcy or having to choose between paying for lifesaving medicines and other basic needs.”

          but

“An alternative plan is Medicare for America, which polling cited by MSNBC’s Hayes indicates is more popular than Medicare for All. It would keep private insurance, but would allow buying into Medicare for greatly limited or even nonexistent cost sharing while lifting the ban on Medicare negotiating drug prices. Sanders rejected the idea, insisting that eliminating private insurance is the only way to achieve cost-effective universal healthcare.

In fact, Medicare for America would create a statutory insurance system akin to Germany, whose multi-payer healthcare system in 2017 spent a very cost-effective $5,728 per person, or 11.3 percent of GDP, according to OECD data. That’s only slightly more than the $4,826 and 10.4 percent of GDP spent by single-payer Canada.

About 90 percent of Germans are covered under statutory health insurance, while 9 percent carry private insurance, as they are entitled to do…”

          and

“This isn’t about compromise for its own sake, appeasing the insurance industry or even incrementalism. The ultimate goal should be providing the least tortuous path to our ceasing to be the only developed nation where healthcare is not a basic human right – not sacrificing the good on the altar of the perfect just to punish insurance companies.”

Wider coverage for less money. It’s reminiscent of President Obama’s early support for a “public option” that was defeated.

          • Bill589 says:

            The Leftists said,
In the 70s it was ‘global cooling’, until it stopped cooling.
Then in the 80s it was ‘global warming’, until it stopped warming.
Then a decade or so ago it was ‘climate change’, until it was shown that the climate has always been changing.
            Now I hear ‘climate disruption’.

This now makes me think of a couple of pertinent Margaret Thatcher quotes:

“Socialists have always spent much of their time seeking new titles for their beliefs, because the old versions so quickly become outdated and discredited.”

“Global Warming Provides A Marvelous Excuse For Global Socialism.”

      • Kye says:

Americans only support single payer health care until they understand what it is. Then they totally reject it. That’s what the leftist pigs keep changing the nomenclature to confuse the issue. You tell a person the truth about single payer and they want nothing to do with it.

I always tell them it’s like trusting your worst enemy to set you up with a blind date.

  2. Elwood P. Dowd says:

The three top concerns for cons are:

    Stopping Immigrants
    Stopping Abortion
    Stopping Firearms’ Restrictions

  3. Mangoldielocks says:

Obviously this is a fake poll. This is similar to the focus group which consisted of 6 democrats none of which were progressive and all of which said they would prefer Biden over Bernie.

    However.

One should not underestimate this type of fake news. The reason they do it is to keep their base fired up not bum them out and make them stay home on election day due to apathy.

The more fake polls that come out like this the more the Corporatist media wins. MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and nearly every newspaper in the country are all run by CORPORATIONS WHO PANDER TO A BASE. They are in the business of making money. CNN needs to peddle something to get their ratings back up. Once they find that thing they will beat it 24×7 like they did Russia GATE.

    RESULTS:

    Viewership after the Mueller report:

CNN, MSNBC Ratings Plunge After Release Of Mueller Report Destroys Their Collusion Obsession.

CNN’s prime-time ratings plunged 26 percent in April, compared to 2018. MSNBC’s ratings fell 14 percent compared to last year.

For the record, the report from special counsel Robert Mueller, which cleared President Trump of allegations he and his campaign colluded with Russia to alter the 2016 election, came out April 18.

NOW….LOOKING FOR THE NEXT TRUMP BUMP what do they do?

While the collusion story is all but dead, CNN and MSNBC have simply moved on to hype the next conspiracy theory. On Tuesday, reports emerged that Mueller reportedly told Attorney General William Barr that his summary “did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of the work the special counsel’s office performed.

WE CAN SEE IT as JEFFY pounds the table for this VERY THING. ALL DAY, NON STOP.

These networks are looking for PROFITS NOT THE TRUTH. The sad fact is that in the 60’s and 70’s these networks and magazines and newspapers were not part of a conglomerate of a major corporation. As a result they cared about the truth and the facts and prided themselves on journalism.

Today in CORPORATE NEWS they only care about advertising and ratings and dollars.

Take every poll and every story with a grain of salt and dig every story out of the gutter by investigating a dozen places that are reporting it to get the actual real story.

Still again I will reiterate. A thousand fake polls showing democrats concerns as the most important will have its effects in the long run. They know this. That is why they do it.

    • Mangoldielocks says:

This is the Saul Alinsky tactic now being used by new outlets. Hit them from all sides. never let up, when the opposition adjusts change your tactics and hit them again. Never say what you would do, always make them defend their own agenda.

This is what Jeffy does almost in every post. he never lays out any though process on policy. He only criticizes the right and then when any of us post he simply asks us to defend our position. If they lay out no position they have nothing to defend.

THIS is why it was probably a bad thing for the democrats to win the house in 2018. Now they have serious policy issues they need to defend. While it seems they have power. It only seems that way.

      • Elwood P. Dowd says:

        MANGY,

        No positions?? Good lord, man…

Incremental carbon tax, universal healthcare, progressive income tax, comprehensive immigration reform, equality of opportunity, intellectual property reform, regulation of financial and other corporations, environmentalism, etc, etc, etc

You know, all these things that Conservatives spend all their time criticizing.

How many articles does Teach post extolling the virtues of conservative thought as opposed to articles criticizing Dems, libs and progressives??

        • formwiz says:

Incremental carbon tax, universal healthcare, progressive income tax, comprehensive immigration reform

More taxes, in addition to higher sales taxes, higher gas taxes (did you know we have the second-lowest gas tax in the world?). We’ve had a progressive income tax since Woody Wilson (ignorant). I guess for all that great healthcare that hands you the little red pill when the death panels decide you’re of no use any more.

And comprehensive immigration reform is being built on our southern border. Could use a bit more razor wire.

equality of opportunity, intellectual property reform, regulation of financial and other corporations

We have all of those ICYMI, but you don’t want them anyway. If people are prosperous, they don’t need you.

How many articles does Teach post extolling the virtues of conservative thought as opposed to articles criticizing Dems, libs and progressives??

As they say, truth is the best disinfectant and the Left could use a megaton dosage of Listerine.

    • formwiz says:

First, nobody’s watching Commie News Net unless they’re stuck in the Hotlanta airport and the other has no crosstabs, so the probably made it up.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

      MANGY,

We agree that journalism has become a profit center for corporations, forcing us all to be more vigilant regarding the truth of the information we believe and share.

But that shouldn’t stop the pursuit of truth.

The Mueller report didn’t absolve the trump campaign of all wrong-doing regarding a conspiracy with Russia, the report concluded there was not enough evidence of a crime being committed. Clearly the campaign had dozens if not hundreds of ill-advised contacts with Russians, many who hoped to influence the election.

Of course, as we all now realized, the actions around obstruction of justice are more compelling. It’s quite likely that if and when Trump becomes a private citizen (inside the statute of limitations) he’ll be indicted, unless he cuts a deal. Trump knows that.

Do you not believe that young Dems are concerned about global warming and healthcare?

      • formwiz says:

The Mueller report didn’t absolve the trump campaign of all wrong-doing regarding a conspiracy with Russia, the report concluded there was not enough evidence of a crime being committed.

In the law, that is absolution. We go by innocent until proven guilty, not show me the man, I’ll show you the crime.

Clearly the campaign had dozens if not hundreds of ill-advised contacts with Russians, many who hoped to influence the election.

None of which have been proven illegal (damn, there’s that proof thing again).

And you have seen the Gray Lady (of all people) has confirmed the UK did more to influence the election the the Russkies by aiding Zippy’s efforts to spy on Trump.

Now that’s why we’re hearing Jeffery yell about everything else.

That, and the fact the unemployment report is so good, the markets are up 200 points and even Commie News Net has admitted they’ve never seen such high approval for a President on the economy.

        The rats are leaving.

Of course, as we all now realized, the actions around obstruction of justice are more compelling. It’s quite likely that if and when Trump becomes a private citizen (inside the statute of limitations) he’ll be indicted, unless he cuts a deal.

Considering Schiff for Brains and Fatty Nadless are flailing around to find anything to justify their escapades, Trump just may get a third term if he wants one. And then he will enjoy a well-earned and carefree retirement.

Do you not believe that young Dems are concerned about global warming and healthcare?

I believe kids are so ill-educated today, thanks to Leftist teacher unions, they don’t know what they want until somebody tells them.

        • Elwood P. Dowd says:

          Dutcher,

There you go again, Dutcher. I thought we resolved the name thing, Dutcher?

          Don’t you get it, Dutcher?

Remember, “I told you I’m not bluffing you child molester!”, you bellowed.

Now you go right back to what gets you Dutchered.

        • david7134 says:

The Mueller report clearly stated that there was no collusion between Russian and Trump. Then people go on about indictment over obstruction. What the report did was to summarize the potential for obstruction. The several factors mentioned were not illegal or in any way obstruction so the report did not strongly favor further exploration in a court of law and left the window open for Congress to act. Considering that this was a panel of people who were totally loyal to Hillary and the DNC, the report shows nothing. But, the what next is what the Dems are trying to misdirect. The what next is going to be very ugly as it will show an outgoing President trying to sabotage a campaign by his opposition party, giving information to Hillary and setting up road blocks to prevent the elected President from doing his job and establishing his government. If jeff and group do not feel that anything was wrong with Obama’s stupid efforts, then I am sure Trump will have no problem using them in the coming election an the one in 6 years.

  4. Mangoldielocks says:

ONE final thing about the democrats being corporatist in nature. Donald Trump sent a budget to congress. This has to be approved by the house.

(CNN)President Donald Trump signed a major budget deal into law early Friday morning, hours after Congress voted to end a brief government shutdown overnight.

The House of Representatives voted 240-186. The GOP-controlled chamber needed help from House Democrats to clear the bill, and 73 Democratic members gave it. Sixty-seven House Republicans voted against the plan.

    What does this mean?

Trump tweeted that the bill, which gives the Pentagon an additional $165 billion, was a “big victory” for the US military. But he said Hill Republicans were “forced to increase spending” in order to attract Democratic votes.

See right here this proves how corporatist the Democrats have become. They voted to approve a gigantic MILITARY BUDGET INCREASE OF 165 billion dollars. Something unheard of in Dem circles years ago. The Anti-war party is now the party of war.

They banded together to denounce trump wanting to pull out of Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. They continue to fund adventures into YEMEN where thousands of civilians are being killed by Saudia Arabia. They voiced lip service against the Saudias but after that they are all on board with spending huge sums of money in wars all around the globe with the exception of Cenk Ugyar’s primaried hard core progressives joining the democrats which is dividing the party right down the middle.

40 percent vote against everything Nancy does. 60 percent join with some repubs who are corporatists to get something to the senate. Even the budget needed that.

this just shows how polarized the left is right now and shows some cracks in the GOP as well even though Republicans STILL FAVOR TRUMP by a whopping 86 percent.

    • Professor Hale says:

Voting to increase defense spending is not equal to voting for war. Defense spending is just spending. Lots of things go into the defense department budget that have nothing to do with defending anything. It’s just how our government works. Spending money on AIDS research from the DoD is patriotic and republicans vote for it to be “strong on defense”, but the same research funded by HHS is “liberals supporting their gay lifestyle”. Is this really a secret? Most of it will be spent on personnel accounts including retiree pensions and medical expenses for people who stopped “defending” us decades ago.

If you wanted to point a corporatist finger at the Democratic party, all you had to do was point out Planned Parenthood. A giant corporation, suckling the taxpayer nipple so that Corporate executives can live the good life. But that’s a Democrat corporation, so it is OK.

      • Mangoldielocks says:

Oh but the point was simple. Planned parenthood means big government not Boeing, Lockheed Martin. did you not notice when this humongous increase in the Defense budget was approved that MSNBC, CNN or any of the other CORPORATE outlets raised the ire of the PROGRESSIVES OF THE DEMOCRATIC party.

I guess this is all too nuanced for most of you. The democratic party comes in two flavors. Corporatist or neoliberals like Obama, Biden, Pelosi etc. and the progressive whack jobs like Sanders, AOC, Talib and Omar and others.

The two are at odds. progressives hate war and despise a giant military budget. They also hate corporations. The NeoLiberals of which the Corporations and the more mainstream Dems of old love corporations. The MSN are supporting Neoliberals like Joe biden vs Bernie Bros.

The point is simple. The democratic party is going to eat themselves from within and it has nothing to do with Planned parenthood. Your example is just one of a thousand which shows how much the Democrats of OLD support the Corporatist mentality and the progressives are battling it out with them over their direction.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Since all the polls are fake news, how do you know Repubs favor trump by 86 percent?

If it is true, then the GOPher strategy should be to get all Repubs to vote and find a way for the Russians (and the individual states) to suppress the Dem vote.

The Dems are experiencing what the GOPhers did when the Freedom Caucus (Tea Partiers) stretched their legs against the traditional corporatists. The Dems now have their Social Democrats vs their traditional corporatists.

    • david7134 says:

Obama just about destroyed the military. They know we have a lot to do to revive the armed forces.

  5. Edward Sibley Dutcher says:

    Historical note.

Every time this country has cut back on defense, we’ve had cause to regret it.

This goes back to the Romans’ “If you want peace, prepare for war”.

    • Elwood P. Dowd says:

Defense spending is a very expensive program for low paying jobs, all the while transferring tax dollars from working stiffs to high paid defense contractors.

  6. Bill589 says:
