Hey, why not? Jay Inslee is running on ‘climate change’, Julian Castro is running on Open Borders, Elizabeth Warren is running on taking everyone else’s money, Bernie is running on government controlling your health care

Swalwell running for White House on gun control: report

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) will reportedly announce next week that he is running for president in 2020 and will center his campaign around gun control.

The Atlantic reported Thursday that Swalwell will announce his plans during an appearance on CBS’s “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” where he will be joined by Cameron Kasky, a survivor of the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

Swalwell, who is hosting a town hall on gun control next week in Florida, did not confirm his plans to The Atlantic, but said he thinks gun control should be a top issue in 2020.

“We are doing a town hall in Parkland,” he told The Atlantic. “And I do believe that gun safety has to be a top 2020 issue.”

Good luck with this, Sparky. Perhaps Eric can explain why all his gun grabbing laws would work nationwide when they do not work in California? And why many are being shot down in federal lawsuits?

Anyhow, if he won the primaries (he won’t), he’d win the Democrat base, but lose quite a bit of Blue Dogs and Independents who are tired of Government eroding our Constitutional Rights, all while those trying to take those rights run around with armed protection using firearms that are already banned from most private ownership already.

Really, though, you know with Swalwell his schtick will really be Trump Derangement Syndrome.

  3. “In my America, only criminals will have guns!”
    – Eric Swalwell

      … and police.
… and specified agents of the library of congress.
… and people who can get permits because they have friends in Congress, state and local governments.
… and private security guards who work for rich people, like congressmen.

  4. Professor Hale says:

Excellent idea. The only problem with America is too much freedom. It’s so brave of the Democrats to take on this urgent issue.

    — And celebrities
    — And Municipal judges, retired ones as well
    — and criminals — who oddly will be able to plead the gun charges down to nothing
    — and terrorists
    — and drug dealers — who oddly will be able to plead the gun charges down to loitering

And most importantly, Eric Swalwell’s bodyguards!

    • Professor Hale says:

Most congressmen don’t have body guards. While they are at work, they depend on “herd immunity” of having police protecting the entire buildings they are in. When they are out campaigning, they depend on a wall of aides to screen them from the public, ala human shield. For most public appearances and events, they can coordinate with local police to provide assistance (at taxpayer expense). So, they never really need personal body guards.

My anti-gun CT governor was at my local grocery store a month ago.
        He had four armed bodyguards.

        • Kye says:

Well, the last time I was in the presence of anybody from Congress was way back at a meeting with Arlen Specter. He had two bodyguards both sporting Ingram MAC-11 machine pistols in a not-so-hidden shoulder rig. The governor has a phalanx of State Troopers and the mayor of Philly travels with a bevvy of plain clothed detectives also armed for battle. BTW, gun ownership in Philly is highly regulated. It’s historical that democrats don’t want their negro’s armed. Goes back to the plantation days. Made them harder for the democrat KKK to lynch if they could fight back.

  7. Professor Hale says:

Also, way too many civil rights. That whole, “right to defend yourself against violence” is way over the top. No one really NEEDS that. I’m so glad Democrats are leading the charge against civil rights… again.
