Dems block Cruz on naming street after Chinese activist

Democrats prefer the side of the Chinese regime over human rights

(The Hill) Democrats on Thursday blocked a push by Sen. Ted Cruz to rename the street in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington after a Chinese dissident.

The Texas Republican, who is running for president, tried to get unanimous consent to pass a resolution that would name the street in front of the embassy “Liu Xiaobo Plaza” after Liu Xiaobo, a human rights activist currently imprisoned in China. It would also make the embassy’s address  “1 Liu Xiaobo Plaza.”

Dems didn’t want to embarrass China’s dictator. Senator Feinstein had a little hissy fit, to which Cruz responded

“I, for one, think as Americans we should not be troubled by embarrassing communist oppressors, and I would note — as the senior senator from California leaves the floor — that this is not an issue that is abstract to me. My family, like Dr. Liu, has been imprisoned by oppressive regimes.”

For all their talk about human rights, Democrats will typically side with the oppressors.

Well, of course they will: the Democrats’ policies are based on government control of the individual just as much as the Chinese’s; our Democrats are just a little bit further behind the Chinese on dealing with dissent, is all.

When will teach stop selling all products made in Red China? You demand 100% from “warmists” how about yourself?

Well Teach you want stronger ties to our Gulf “allies” arent they among the most oppressive of all states? It has traditionally been CONSERVATIVES that claimed “pragmatic” reasons for overlooking Central and American dictatorships, South African apartheid, and Saudi and Gulf sheiks
Conservatives fought against the South African aparthide fought against removing jim Crow laws, fought against equality for blacks and gays.
You should be shamed to say you are a conservative. AND STOP SELLING THAT CHINESE CRAP IF YOU LOVE AMERICA

Cruz is just another Rethuglican attention-whore, grandstanding as usual.

The Senate didn’t side with the oppressors, all they did was disagree with the worst Senator in history who wanted to name a street after a Chinese dissident.

Why did buttwipe Rafael Cruz pick this man, this day? Because he wanted to interfere with foreign policy.

Since China has jailed dissidents and Cruz et al disapprove, why don’t the Rethugs do something substantive rather than relying on stupid stunts??

More people believe global warming than believe the gawdawful Repubics in Congress.

‘Every time the reporters addressed a question to “Your Holiness”‘ on Wednesday, Cruz said, ‘Barack Obama answered’
‘In a few months we may see the first presidential debate held at Leavenworth,’ he joked, taking a shot at Hillary Clinton’s legal troubles
Framed the meeting of Barack Obama and Chinese president Xi Jinping as ‘the world’s most powerful communist – and the president of China’
Says after eight years of a Cruz administration, left-leaning journalists will have ‘checked themselves into therapy
