Hillary Clinton To Supposedly Address Email Scandal

In other words, she’s going to give a speech that will briefly touch on the issue, take no questions, and fail to provide a truly adequate explanation

(Politico) Hillary Rodham Clinton is likely to hold a press conference in New York in the next several days to answer reporters questions about a controversy surrounding her use of a private email account at the State Department, according to three people close to the potential Democratic frontrunner.

The decision to address the issue comes amid mounting criticism of her use of a personal email account, which did not comply with State Department regulations issued in 2005 governing email used for official business. Reports in the New York Times and the Associated Press detailed how Clinton used a private server, housed in her suburban New York residence, to channel her emails, which are supposed to be maintained as part of a federal agency’s historic record.

“Supposed to”? No. That makes it sound like it is recommended, when it is, in fact, required by law. Just like for private companies, who can, and have, get in big trouble for not maintaining emails.

Of course, giving a speech, if she actually does that, doesn’t address that there are certainly a lot more pages of emails that she has failed to provide. There are huge gaps. Nor that she was using a personal address for government business, one which was not particularly secure. Nor the propriety of using a personal email for government business.

Obama told CBS in an interview Saturday that he’d learned of Clinton’s use of a private e-mail address and server “through news reports.” However, Earnest conceded Monday that Obama knew Clinton was communicating from a private e-mail account, but was unaware of how that mail was handled or that Clinton did not have an official “state.gov” account.

“Yes, the president was aware of her email address,” Earnest said. “He was not aware of the details of how that email address and that server had been set up or how Secretary Clinton and her team were planning to comply with the Federal Records Act.”

Might that information be important for her boss to know? Government investigators would surely find any private sector boss to be negligent if a direct report acted in this manner. Of course, Obama doesn’t seem to know very much as to what happens within his Executive Office. Nor care. Nor care to follow the same laws required of everyone else.

Mr. Teach believes in mind-reading AND magic! He can predict the future WITHOUT no stinkin’ computer model!

it is, in fact, required by law.

    Is that true?

private companies, who can, and have, get in big trouble for not maintaining emails.

Do you believe the government requires private companies to maintain (retain?) emails? More companies get in trouble retaining emails that reveal potential misdeeds.

Nor the propriety of using a personal email for government business.

Secretary Kerry is the first Sec of State to use govt email. There are numerous examples of govt officials using private email accounts. Were they all improper or just Secretary Clinton’s?

one which was not particularly secure.

    How do you know?

Nor care to follow the same laws required of everyone else.

Obama instituted the regulations. But your point that Obama is lazy and uppity is well-taken and transparent.

Obama doesn’t seem to know very much as to what happens within his Executive Office. Nor care

Before long, staffers will be trading guns for hostages, selling weapons to jihadists and using the proceeds for funding right-wing death squads in the Caribbean. What’s worse? That Reagan knew and lied about it or that Reagan didn’t know?

    Jeff,
Amazing comments. Do you know anything? Are you aware of the law? You just make up things that fit your little world.

The fact is that Hillary was required to use a government account in her position and that all emails are required to be kept and delivered when requested. Pitreaus was just charged for simply having copies of briefs at his home, much less his own server. Wake up, Hillary and Bill are two of the most corrupt people in the US.

  3. Dana says:

Whatever she says will be a lie. With the Clintons, if it is a choice between telling a lie that can’t help them, or a truth which won’t hurt them, they will always choose to lie.

The only question is how quickly the lies are discovered to be lies.

  4. Dana says:

And, of course, the obvious question is: why does Jeffrey defend the left? I can understand that he’s a dyed in the wool warmist, but even the left ought to have some scruples about their heroes, or heroines, in this case, just flat out lying and breaking the law.

I mean, it’s not like Hillary Clinton is the only Democrats out there to support!

You could be a leftist, and support leftist positions, without defending people you know are lying; it really is possible.

  5. Jeffery says:

    Amazing comments.

Thank you so much for your support! I appreciate the compliment.

    Do you know anything?

    Yes.

Pitreaus (sic) was just charged for simply having copies of briefs at his home

He should have kept his briefs on. It’s my understanding that Petraeus gave classified materials to his mistress, Paula Broadwell, while he headed the CIA. Young women entice old men to do stupid stuff, am I right? I think we’ve all been there, but fortunately most of us do not disclose classified information.

Hillary and Bill are two of the most corrupt people in the US.

The liberal media and their right-wing enablers certainly agree with you! The liberal media war on the vile Clintons carried over to the hapless Al Gore in 2000, leading to the Cheney/Bush years. As the most excellent Bob Somerby (Daily Howler) said – ‘the dead in Iraq cry out from their graves’.

Regardless, because of the changing demographics of the electorate it is getting more and more difficult for a far-right Repubicun to get elected President in a fair election (that’s why state Repubicuns are working so hard to change ‘demo’graphics to ‘repubi’graphics by voter suppression and gerrymandering). So the options are to field an acceptable middle of road Repub (McCain was a great choice, except for Bush’s economic meltdown and the inexplicable choice of the idiot Palin) or cheat. Or both. I suspect that the odious, corrupt Scott Walker will win their nomination – and they’ll find a likeable VP candidate – Marco Rubio. Walker/Rubio 2016. Walker will have to lie his way through the general, but he’s a professional politician, and a good one, so spinning and lying is second nature. And they’ll also cheat and suppress voters.

You hate the Clintons because you hate policies that are not far-right. Fair enough.

I hate Repubicun policies because they harm the nation and the world.

Or one can look at past history to give a reasonable prediction of future events.

Do you believe the government requires private companies to maintain (retain?) emails?

There are several laws that cover this (depending on the business) and apparently you are either unaware of them or trying to be sarcastic and failing miserably.

Secretary Kerry is the first Sec of State to use govt email. There are numerous examples of govt officials using private email accounts. Were they all improper or just Secretary Clinton’s?

Sorry, but you are wrong. Kerry is not the first Secretary of State to use a government email. Secondly, the law requires that Clinton use a government email when conducting government business as the emails belong to the government and the people – not Clinton. If Clinton wanted to write to Chelsea or Bill or friends using a private account, that is fine. Conducting official business is outside the law and outside the standards set up by her boss at the time.

Are you saying those laws and standards don’t apply to Hillary? (Those would also be the standards Hillary fired an ambassador for in 2012.)

    How do you know?

Because security experts have said so.

That Reagan knew and lied about it or that Reagan didn’t know?

So your excuse is that of a 5 year old that someone else did it too? That’s all you have?

Clinton broke the law and the policies of the State Department.

    Deal with that.

  7. david7134 says:

    Jeff,
You can’t get a single fact straight. Stop reading the web, it is usually wrong. The general may have shown secret material to his girl friend, but the charges were for having secret material, unsecured at his home.

  8. Do you believe the government requires private companies to maintain (retain?) emails? More companies get in trouble retaining emails that reveal potential misdeeds.

There are multiple laws, including Sarbanes Oxley, FRCP, and many others, even from 1934 (Securities Exchange Act). It’s not my belief, Jeff, it’s the freaking law. That you do not know this shows you’re either a fool or intentionally obtuse.

As to the 2nd part of that paragraph, that’s exactly one of the reasons retention is mandatory.

  9. drowningpuppies says:

Little Jeffery can’t help it because the essence of the left is that you are being cheated, stolen from, and lied to. He intends to engender rage and resentment. It is no wonder he is so nasty.

Also notice little Jeffery uses a variation of the Left’s Bullshit Template Of Scandal Reaction:

    1. It never happened/He(she) didn’t do it.
    2. Even if it did happen, it’s no big deal.
    3. Republicans do it, too.
    4. Blame Bush, Reagan, … etc.

  10. david7134 says:

I watched aspects of the Hillary talk and I have to admit, she scares me to death. I have been around mean women in my life, but she has the killer eyes of a real bitch. I have new concerns about old Bill if he has to live with this thing. I really can not see her making a serious run for president. She is clearly dumb, she looks like she wants to kill with just an average question, she can’t control her temper and in short she is just WRONG.

  11. david7134 says:

I forgot one thing. I can look at most people and tell if they are ill (40 years of doing that helps), she is sick.
