Hashtag Climatology: What Would You Ask Hotcoldwetdry Leaders?

I know what I’d ask them: say, why do you use so much fossil fuel yourself? What have you done within your own life to reduce your own carbon footprint? Purchasing carbon offsets doesn’t count. That’s like paying speeding tickets because you refuse to obey the speed limits.

Climate change: what is your message for global leaders?

Frustrated at the lack of progress on climate change? If you had your chance, what would you ask global leaders to do?

This September, the UN will hold a Climate Summit in New York to discuss “catalysing action” on the issue of climate change.

Ahead of the event, UN secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon, has called on world leaders to bring “bold pledges” to the summit.

Didn’t get an invite? If you are a climate change campaigner, researcher, policymaker or just passionate about the issue, we want to hear what your one climate ask would be to world leaders.

To take part, simply take a selfie featuring your message and the hashtag #MyClimateAsk. Make sure you include your name, where you live and how you are engaged in the climate change cause. If you are not able to get access to a camera, please share your climate message in text.

Sorry, I won’t be taking a selfie and hashtagging it. Nope. I’m not 14. And I have self respect. And, taking a quick gander through the limited amount of selfies for this hashtag, none are mentioning what they themselves are doing in their own lives.

but, they are hashtagging. that is like calling a nation to war and having your soldiers die taking land and winning or something.

well Teach that “pause” wasn’t 2013 a pretty hot year? like 4th HOTTEST how can that be if there is a pause?
Also you stated that last winter was the coldest EVAH !!
But when I look at the NCDC it shows that it was ranked 46 out of 120 ??? that sure doesn’t look like a record cold winter to me. Could you explain to me what you meant by “coldest”? http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/temp-and-precip/maps.php?imgs%5B%5D=Nationaltrank&year=2014&month=4&ts=ytd&submitted=Submit
And of course that ranking is ONLY for the continental USA it does not include Alaska where the temps were quite high.
I am still thinking that the US Navy seems to know pretty good about what is REALLY happening.

Not that I would expect you to look Teach but the 97% of scientists that believe in climate change KNOW that you observed “pause” is only the result of cheery picked data. If you go for a longer period say 1990 it shows that climate modeling has been in fact quite accurate.

  5. […] back our girls’ hashtag sad face wasn’t bad enough. Now global warming loons are trying their own brand of hashtag diplomacy with […]

    Teach,

The big problem with your thesis is that those you slur as “warmists” already emit LESS carbon dioxide than do conservatives. My small energy efficient house, recycling, composting, small car, short drive to work, energy efficient appliances, insulation, passive solar etc, all bring my carbon footprint to less than 1/2 the national average.

Your second tweet that there has been no warming for almost 18 years is just a blatant falsehood. You know the truth and yet you persist in spreading a lie. Very poor form, but also typical for a conservapundit.

  7. Better_Late_Than_Gumballs says:

Once again you can see that J lies. His lies are blatantly obvious for anyone to see.

First, his personal analogy does not mean much. If true. What does is research. Research like this:

Something that comes as a shock to a lot of our users: The average person who says they care about climate change actually has a substantially worse than average footprint. Generally that’s because they tend to have a bit more money, and they tend to be people who like to think of themselves as multicultural and like to get out and see the world. Which means that they’re flying around a lot, and all that flying generally outweighs any other green lifestyle choices that they’ve made. You have a lot of people who are using reusable bags and water bottles, driving a Prius, maybe eating a bit more of a veggie friendly diet. But then they’re flying to Bali or South Africa or something once a year. They end up having a larger carbon footprint than a conservative guy who drives an SUV in the suburbs of Atlanta but doesn’t fly anywhere.

The IPCC models that all hysteria is based on, are and have been wrong:

The temperature has indeed not risen for nearly 20 years:

There has been a slight increase since 1990:

It all depends on where you start. Start during ice age and yep, we’ve done nothing but warm. Start during Roman Warm Period, then we’ve cooled.

Meanwhile, the world has ONLY warmed 0.7C since about 1880.
PLease tell me how that is “globe on fire” deadly to all life on earth?

And really? What is our temperatures doing lately compared to the past??

Our current temps are AWESOME!!! Normal temps are below the normal we live in today.

BTW, you can’t slur “warmists” as that is what they say is happening. And please cite where the word or the pronoun of “warmist” can ever be seen as a slur upon a person like “Denier” can be. Calling someone a “Denier” who does not deny the Holocaust is a slur. Calling someone a warmist who professes loudly that the world is warming is not a slur, only truth.
