Washington Post: Republicans Are Failing America Or Something

There’s all sorts of fun bomb throwing materializing in the mostly Liberal media, both from journalists/opinion writers and nutty Democrats. You have wacky Joan Walsh blaming it all on raaaaacism. Crazy Alan Grayson says the GOP has literally been drinking on the job. Womb Whisperer Andy Sullivan talks about the “nullification party“. Ezra Klein wonders why the GOP doesn’t ditch the hard right. The vast majority of articles and opinion pieces are, unsurprisingly, ant-GOP, being that the major media votes 90% Democrat. Just a peak at the Washington Post front page provides mostly anti-GOP pieces, including “House GOP cuckoos.” But the Editorial Board brings the best moonbattery

House Republicans are failing Americans in their effort to kill Obamacare

AMERICANS’ RESPECT for their Congress has, sad to say, diminished in recent years. But citizens still expect a minimal level of competence and responsibility: Pay the bills and try not to embarrass us in front of the world.

By those minimal standards, this Congress is failing. More specifically, the Republican leaders of the House of Representatives are failing. They should fulfill their basic duties to the American people or make way for legislators who will.

We don’t come to that view as rabid partisans. On many of the issues stalemating Washington, we find plenty of blame to go around. We’ve criticized President Obama’s reluctance to pursue entitlement reform. The last time the country reached the debt ceiling, we urged both sides to compromise on revenue and spending in the interest of long-term fiscal soundness.

You’re welcome to read the rest of this, it’s quite amusing in its partisan view. It fails to mention that the Democrat controlled Senate has failed to pass a budget since Obama took the oath of office. Didn’t they promise to pass a budget this year during the previous budget debt ceiling negotiations. All we’ve had are continuing resolutions since they refuse to put their budget priorities on the table.

Every budget Mr. Obama has placed on the table has been utterly shot down by the Democrat controlled Senate. Except for this year’s. Which was very late. As usual. And which Harry Reid simply tabled without a vote.

As for embarrassing us in front of the world, one only has to look to the recent Syria debacle. The best he could do was cobble together a coalition of…France. Which was backing away from getting involved. And it took Vladimir Putin to save Obama’s chestnuts. He started out with gaffes involving sending a Churchill bust back to the U.K., insulting the British Press, the foolish “reset” button to Russia, and giving the Queen Of England an iPod with pics and vids of….Obama. He left our people to die in Benghazi. He ran guns into Mexico without telling the government of Mexico, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Mexican citizens. Trotted out “starting with 1967 lines” regarding Israel-Palestinian negotiations. Blew off NATO ally Poland over the missile shield. Blew off the Iranian Green Revolution, as well as most of the Arab Spring. Till he threw Egypt’s leader Hosni Mubarak under the bus, leading to the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood. His Sec of State Hillary Clinton called Assad a “reformer”. Now Obama wants him gone. And Assad is thumbing his nose at Obama.

That list can go on and on, I’m sure you have your favorite blunder/gaffe/embarrassment. Fortunately, Obama’s NSA will be there to read your criticisms of Obama are. Have fun with your IRS audit.

Someone needs to pick up on the theme that Obamacare is a farce. It does not really pay for healthcare. I looked at the plans and if you opt for a bronze level, you only get a discount of your care. The plan pays 60% of cost and you have to pay a deductible and the other 40%. I can assure you that this will result is an enormous cash outlay. Then on the platinum plan, you have 90% coverage with a $5000 deductible. Most of my patients are having difficulty with $1000 deductibles and will not get testing if it is greater than $100. That is secondary to the Obama depression. So, the bigger story here is that the insurance is a scam.

    amen david.

But, I do blame the GOP for one thing. For allowing this to drag on for the last 5 years. They should have demanded the Senate pass a budget the first year or else. Them playing along and submitting CRs every few months only supports the lawlessness. The GOP are part of the problem. It really came to light in their attacks on their own party.

Bad enough, many in the GOP, even new members, feel the genetic need to suckle up to Democrats. And if no one else in their party suckles, well then they are not part of the GOP and do not represent the people.

Funny how elections matter. When you elect socialists, you get socialism. When you elect RINOS, you get socialism. When you elect one-issue representatives, you get betrayed, and then you get socialism.

Heard news poll the other morning, I think it was from CBS. Only 25% of the people will not get on an exchange and will pay the fine. nearly 70% of the 18-29 year olds have no idea that ObamaCare is mandatory.

When you allow Socialism in, you get rampant ignorance.

If enough Americans are disenchanted with the ACA, the Dems will feel it at the ballot box in 2014 and 2016 and the Repubes can repeal the bill.

At that time we already know the Dem minority will not have the cajones to do what the Repubes are doing now, i.e., holding the economy hostage. The Repubes play hardball.

And I bet you feel Washington Post is a hard hitting neutral news gathering resource.

What Gumballs said. And what I am reading about real life people have experienced:

    • Pulled off of Will Sheehan’s facebook page about his registering for Obamacare:

“I actually made it through this morning at 8:00 A.M. I have a preexisting condition (Type 1 Diabetes) and my income base was 45K-55K annually I chose tier 2 “Silver Plan” and my monthly premiums came out to $597.00 with $13,988 yearly ded…uctible!!! There is NO POSSIBLE way that I can afford this so I “opt-out” and chose to continue along with no insurance.
I received an email tonight at 5:00 P.M. informing me that my fine would be $4,037 and could be attached to my yearly income tax return. Then you make it to the “REPERCUSSIONS PORTION” for “non-payment” of yearly fine. First, your drivers license will be suspended until paid, and if you go 24 consecutive months with “Non-Payment” and you happen to be a home owner, you will have a federal tax lien placed on your home. You can agree to give your bank information so that they can easy “Automatically withdraw” your “penalties” weekly, bi-weekly or monthly! This by no means is “Free” or even “Affordable.”

  9. Ignore_My_Gumballs says:

    Welcome to the new “tax”.
your existence is predicated upon submission and tax payments.

Welcome to the new national federally-run debtors prison that will put you in prison BEFORE debt is incurred.

You want to continue to be considered a citizen? Then you must buy a product that the Feds approve of. If not, then off to jail you go. Meanwhile, Feds give all sorts of goodies and welfare to illegals.

Welcome to the new normal. At best, this will be the way of life for the next 4 years. At worse, … it will only get worse.
