Desperation Time In ObamaLand As He Plays Patriotism Card

One of the last Americans who should be questioning anyone other Americans patriotism does just that. Remember Obama refusing to put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem? Refusing to wear a flag pin? His wife saying that she’s proud of the country for the first time? Remember his whiny letter which pushed understanding with the Al Qaeda animals who attacked the US on 9/11? The whiny anti-war speech against Iraq? Sending Hillary Clinton out to question the patriotism of those who weren’t buying into Obama’s “days, not weeks” Big Libyan War Of Choice (which will be at 5 months come August 19th)? Obama has now hit a new low in desperation-land by playing the patriotism card

Chicago, we have a campaign theme for 2012: “Put country ahead of party.”

On Thursday, an impassioned President Barack Obama hit Republicans on their patriotism — saying he shares Americans’ disgust with Washington — and bluntly accused opponents of putting partisan and ideological interests above the economic well-being of the nation.

“The only thing preventing these bills from being passed is the refusal of some folks in Congress to put country ahead of party,” Obama told an enthusiastic audience at a green-technology battery plant in Michigan, referring to his proposals to extend unemployment insurance and the payroll tax credit.

“There are some in Congress right now who would rather see their opponents lose than see America win. And that has to stop,” he added. “It’s got to stop. We’re supposed to all be on the same team. Especially when we’re going through tough times.”

He implored both parties — with an implied emphasis on the tea party wing of the GOP — to “find a way to put country ahead of party.”

So, if Congress is having a tough time passing bills that will not help decrease unemployment and will not help get people jobs, well, they must not be patriotic? Perhaps the GOP should trot out a t-shirt that says “Put country ahead of re-election.” We can now say the era of Hopey Changey is officially over. But, then, this isn’t the first time Obama went down this same road.

When we pile up mountains of debt for the next generation to absorb, or put off changes to our energy policies, knowing full well the potential consequences of inaction, we are placing our short-term interests ahead of the nation’s long-term well-being….Just as patriotism involves each of us making a commitment to this nation that extends beyond our own immediate self-interest, so must that commitment extends beyond our own time here on earth.

Abraham Lincoln did not simply win a war or hold the Union together. In his unwillingness to demonize those against whom he fought;….

That was Obama in June 2008, giving his patriotism speech. Sure looks like he himself is, in his own words, putting self-interest over national interest. Of course, a good chunk of the rest of that speech was meant to demonize people who wouldn’t spend boodles on teacher’s unions, green energy, globull warming, and social justice.

  4. And the photo op at Dover AFB against the wishes of the families of those Special Ops casualties coming back stateside. This was simply a blatant move to engender support for the election next year. He hates all of us who have served, still serve and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Reference to a word he should never use. He has no idea of what sacrifice actually is.

Sorry Glen, but you are wrong on this one. The families were asked if they wanted to allow pictures of the caskets as they came off the transports and were placed into the assigned vehicles. The majority of the families asked that the press not be allowed to take photos of the caskets.

The image that was released by the White House was of Obama standing with others in silhouette. You can see the image here.

The issue being raised is not from the families, but from the press who were not allowed to get the shots they wanted of the caskets and everything else.

The White House photographer has a duty to document the President’s day and actions for history. That is his job. Whether that President is Bush, Obama, Reagan or Kennedy, that is what the White House photographer does. Period.

The image that was released was powerful and a great shot. It is easy to place oneself in the bodies of the other men standing with their hands over their hearts. I haven’t seen them identified, although one may be Leon Panetta.

The shot captures the moment for history without infringing on the wishes of the families. The people who are upset are the press and frankly, I don’t care about them at all.

The flap over the photograph is a manufactured controversy. Some on the Right have sided with the press corps and their selfish wishes in order to smear Obama simply because it fits what we want to believe, rather than what actually happened.

There is plenty to go after Obama with and just a small part of it is documented here.

However raising this incident is a case of “Obama Derangement Syndrome.”

  8. So what. I hate that worthless, lying, commie piece of shit.
The Old Retired Petty Officer determined that he is out of line. Period. That is all that matters. The worthless fuck stick is abusing the sanctity of the office.

You determined that he was out of line for breaking a promise to the families that he did not break. That is the “so what” of this.

If you want to hate the guy, that is well within your rights. But hate him for the right reasons. There are plenty of them out there without having to make crap up so you can hate him more.
