Sheila Jackson Lee Sued For Discrimination

Just remember, with Liberals, it is about intentions, not actions

A former staff member of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) has filed a discrimination lawsuit against her.

The suit, brought by Mona Floyd, Jackson Lee’s former legislative director, alleges the lawmaker deliberately ignored her staffer’s vision and reading disabilities by forcing her to work long and extended hours with no breaks.

At two separate points, Jackson Lee allegedly told Floyd, “I don’t care anything about your disability,” and later when asked about making adjustments to accommodate her disability the lawmaker allegedly told her chief of staff, “I don’t give a damn about her disability,” according to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for D.C.

I’m taking bets on how soon Lee alleges that she can’t be sued since She Is A Congresswoman!

How’s that old saying go? When a conservative is a hypocrite, they hurt themselves. When a Democrat is a hypocrite, they hurt others.

There is so much that is strange about this story…..

The woman that is suing Jackson-Lee worked for her from 2007-2009, left and then returned in 2010. Why come back?

It is easy to say that Jackson-Lee might not have done anything in those years, but leopards don’t change their spots. Jackson-Lee has gone through 11 Chiefs of Staff in 11 years. She is clearly a hard woman to work for so I can’t see this suddenly popping up.

The ADA is a joke. It really needs to be amended in many areas. However in this case, an accommodation would have been easy to do and not cost anything.

Jackson-Lee has released a statement saying:

“The office of U.S. Representative Jackson Lee considers internal personnel matters confidential and will not comment publicly on the allegations at this time, except to say that the office fully embraces and fully practices equal employment opportunities for all,” Chief of Staff Glenn Rushing said in a statement.

The problem I have with this is that any monetary awards the staffer wins comes out of our pockets. Jackson-Lee doesn’t get to cost the taxpayer money and then not be held accountable for it. If she wants to pay any awards from her checkbook, fine. Otherwise, this is not an “internal personnel matter.”

Lastly, this is apparently another case where Congress critters in general and Jackson-Lee in particular, believe the laws and rules they pass for the rest of us do not apply to them.

  2. Good point, why’d she come back? Of course, the money and perks are pretty good when working for a congress critter.

There have been lots of stories about how horrible it is to work for Lee, how abusive she is, curses a lot, and curses people out a lot.

What boggles my mind, is how she keeps getting re-elected!?!?!?!?

WTF?!? People are just too stupid or what? how can you not care about your vote that much to vote for her?

If I vote for her I know I won’t get a congress person that has any respect of her peers, no respect from law enforcement, no respect from the other party at all, has a history of possible illegal activities, a history of behaving badly, and a long history of saying wrong things and behaving badly on television, etc.

But yet, she keeps getting elected.

She’s in a gerrymandered “safe” district in Houston. Looks like 3/4 of a donut.
