Atheists Whine About “Heaven” Sign Honoring 9/11 Victims

Another day, another liberal group trying to ruin something for other people because their delicate sensibilities are offended

A group of New York City atheists is demanding that the city remove a street sign honoring seven firefighters killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks because they say the sign violates the separation of church and state.

Except, there is not such thing appearing in the Constitution of either the USA or the State of NY: that phrase appeared…..heck, most of you know this. It has been explained to liberals time after time. They just choose to change the 1st Amendment to their liking.

The street, “Seven in Heaven Way,” was officially dedicated last weekend in Brooklyn outside the firehouse where the firefighters once served. The ceremony was attended by dozens of firefighters, city leaders and widows of the fallen men.

Obviously, that sign will generate a massive freakout

“There should be no signage or displays of religious nature in the public domain,” said Ken Bronstein, president of New York City Atheists. “It’s really insulting to us.” Bronstein told Fox News Radio that his organization was especially concerned with the use of the word “heaven.” “We’ve concluded as atheists there is no heaven and there’s no hell,” he said.

There’s quite a bit of stupid packed into that paragraph, eh? Neither US nor NY constitution says anything about there being nothing of a religious nature in the public domain. Who gives a rats a** if their insulted. They can get over it, ignore it, and move on. How, exactly, does it harm them? I’ve seen plenty of things that offended me when I’ve been to NYC: I move on. And they can conclude all they want, it matters not, there is nothing Constitutionally wrong. Why is it so difficult for atheists/liberals to mind their own business?

BTW, have you atheists stopped carrying money?

Silverman said he would not be surprised if atheists are vilified for their criticism of the street sign – suggesting they were simply being patriotic. “If we’re opposed to this sign, we’re somehow opposed to honoring the heroes,” he said. “The attacks on 9/11 were an attack on America. They were an attack on our Constitution and breaking that Constitution to honor these firefighters is the wrong thing to do.

So Silverman, president of American Atheists, is trying to set themselves up as victims. And patriots.

“The patriotic and right thing to do is to obey our own law and to realize that we are a diverse nation, a melting pot full of different views,” Silverman added. The local and national atheist organizations said they’ve offered alternative names that would still honor the firefighters, but without any religious affiliation.

The patriotic thing to do would be to let the fireman have their sign, and if you don’t like it, well, be an adult, and deal with the diversity. And obey the law, which has no prohibition against a sign that says “Heaven” on public property.

The city is not planning on removing it, and, of course, the atheists might sue. Expect the normal leftist groups, like the ACLU, to get involved.

Teach, that is not very diverse of you. You need to be all inclusive and understanding of his concerns and feelings and emotions. You need to realize that he is a human being too and must be able to express his inner being self. By having that sign, he can’t. Thus, YOU must capitulate to his desires and whims.

You should know this as the oppressor.

  3. Eh. Screw them 😀

why is it that while everyone claims that this nation is one of diversity and all-inclusiveness – they despise and sue to eliminate any and all references to Christianity. Even though this nation was founded and established upon the ideals and principles of Christianity.

You want to be anti-christian. You go right ahead. Just don’t expect everyone else to agree with you. Thus, this guy needs to read the sign as a musical and nothing else. The rest of this nation will see it as a honor to those who gave their lives after Islamic Terrorists attacked our nation and killed innocent people and who are now in Heaven.

I am sure Cuba would be happy to have your viewpoints Sir!!! We’d be happy to let you go.
