Obama Can’t Find Time For Arizona Gov. Brewer

But he sure can find time for all those fun perks of the job he campaigned for

President Obama has turned down Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s request to meet while she’s in Washington next week as tensions mount between his administration and Arizona over the state’s new law cracking down on illegal immigrants.

Brewer will be in Washington to meet with other governors. She said Friday that she had asked to meet with Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to discuss border security and immigration. But Obama’s schedule “doesn’t allow for a meeting” with her, White House spokesman Adam Abrams said, adding that the president “does intend to sit down with the governor in the future.”

When Obama returns from his Chicago vacation on Tuesday, he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Peru President Alan Garcia at the White House. On Wednesday, Obama is meeting with Gen. Ray Odierno, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, before heading to an event in Pittsburgh and hosting a concert at the White House to honor Paul McCartney.

On Thursday, Obama will speak at Secretary Clinton’s reception for a new partnership between U.S. and India. On Friday, the president will welcome the Major League Soccer men’s championship team, Real Salt Lake, to the White House.

Remember back during the campaign, when we were told that Obama’s unbelievable awesome super great monumental judgment more that made up for his lack of experience? How he’d reach across the aisle? How things would be done differently in Washington? That it would be “post-partisan?”

I suppose that President Thin Skin doesn’t actually want to address the problem, and he sure doesn’t want an earful from Gov. Brewer on the reality of illegal immigration. He probably doesn’t want to be asked whether he himself has read the bill, nor does he want to know that the law pretty much matches federal law.

Fortunately, Brewer is making sure that Arizona has all the legal council necessary, and will fight all the way to the Supreme Court.

Of course, we had to have all sorts of rallies, which are amusing, but, not in a funny way. In Phoenix, tens of thousands marched, basically in support of people who break the law at all levels. They marched in Winter Haven, Fla. They marched in San Francisco, as the Arizona Diamondbacks faced off against the Giants. Chicago, a city that should worry about its own massive crime and violence problem first, may boycott Arizona, and ban the red light cameras from an Arizona company (which would violate a legal, binding contract). Let’s ask Kirk Adams, Speaker of the Arizona House, what he thinks

It is not just incredibly unfortunate that cities such as Boston, San Francisco and Seattle, which are far removed from the problems that we face here on the southern border, have announced boycotts against Arizona. Frankly, it’s offensive. If such drug- and gang-related crimes were affecting public safety in Manhattan or Boston, East Coast elites would be declaring a national emergency.

You bet they would. Hey, Kirk, what about California?

Even California, a state home to vocal detractors of S.B. 1070 and Arizona boycotters, has a similar law on its books. I suggest critics research California Penal Code Section 834b, which states, in part: “With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following:

“Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status.”

Sound familiar?

Arizona has plenty to do fighting the effects of illegal immigration. It’s a shame that because of our efforts to protect our citizens and uphold federal law, we now have to fight ignorance, too.

Without willful ignorance, Liberals would be Conservatives.

Your last statement is wrong. In my experience, liberals are fundamentally ignorant of history, economy, international politics, basic cleanliness and hygiene, accounting, the laws and constitution of our country, the nature of the socialistic state, most literature, physics and the general sciences (expecially weather), how food gets on their plate, how much tax other people pay an its burden, the fact our country is broke, the fact that racism does not exist as an institution in the US, the fact that they are extremely prejudiced and racist, anything to do with the War of Northern Aggression or its origin.

Instead, they are more lacking in logic. They can not understand that if you keep spending money on things that make you feel good, you will go broke. They can not understand that hunger in the US is not associated with asking a child who is 50% over weight if he is hungry and that this does not equate to a moral imperative to make sure he is fed 4 times a day. They can not understand that oil is in every single item they use and that without it we cease to exist. They do not undertand that it is easier and safer to drill any where but one mile beneath the ocean and that spills happen and that they go away. They do not understand that if someone enters the US illegally that they are “outlaws” and that they will continue such activity if allowed.

Finally, they do not undertand that those of us in the South really and truly hate them despite the fact we smile and say nice things, we really, truly want our own country and freedom.

“tens of thousands marched basically break the law” gee Teach sort of sounds like the civil rights marches of the 50s and 60s when those rascally libs were doing the same thing while the conservatives fumed and fussed.Social conservatives have a LONG record of trying to hold back social progress in the USA. Gays ?? Teach the Platform of the GOP in TX states that they want homosexuality to remain a felony. Where were social conserbatives on giving women the right to vote ? or to have access to birth control ? or to desegregate the US military ? Trying to hold back the mighty tide of progress that’s where they were

  3. gitarcarver says:

Ryan, are you really trying to say that illegal immigration is the same thing as a civil right?

Are you really trying to say that “illegal immigration” is a good thing for this country?

You once asked “what about the millions of kids….. it will take 150 billion to foster all of them. Well, guess what? The country spends over 100 billing a year on services for illegal immigrants.

That means that if you want to make this a discussion based on law, you lose.

If you want to make this a discussion based on economics, you lose.

If you want to make this a discussion based on moral, you lose.

Wow. You’d think ‘lil LYING johnnie ryan might remember that it was conservatives who voted for the ’64 law in greater numbers than liberals, and that it was the likes of KKK byrd and algore Sr. who voted against it….
