The Dark Night: The Review

I know there have been some folks out there who have said The Dark Night was not that good, but, like the critics at Yahoo Movies, I have to give it an A-. Excellent movie, well worth the price of admission.

Heath Ledger was truly outstanding as The Joker. Initially, the character seemed a little tepid, but, soon evolved into super villian madness, in a way that seemed planned. There were twists and plot changes, evolution of characters, and the focus was not simply on Batman.

The only thing I did not like was the actress who played Maggie. I think they could have done better, but, considering that in the movie she…..heh, you’ll have to see it for the answer.

I thought it was much better then the 1st, and, can’t wait for part III, where there is talk of the potential for Catwoman, the Penguin, and/or the Riddler to be the villian. I’m hoping for The Riddler, and for the character to be much darker then as Jim Carey played it, which was just too campy.

Worth going to the theater.

I agree, Ledger was phenomenal, and Maggie Gyllenhal was kinda “meh” as Rachel Dawes (and replacing Katie Holmes in that role). Good thing, like you said, we won’t have to see her again in the third installment.

And there has been much speculation that The Joker was probably going to return in the third, possibly with the Penguin (he’s kinda a weak villain though) or perhaps Catwoman (as long as she’s hot, like Michelle Pfiefer.) Unfortunately, after Ledger’s performance, you can’t just replace him in that role. The Joker will just sorta… disappear from the storyline. And a good replacement could be the Riddler. But he’ll just seem so… bland, possibly after The Joker. They’re going to hafta work some OT to get a good actor and plot line to out do this installment…
