A 23-year-old man admitted in court today to bludgeoning to death two Stafford Township brothers and kidnapping their mother two years ago.
Listening to questions posed by First Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Ronald DeLigny through a Spanish interpreter, Richard Toledo pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and one count of kidnapping in the brutal attacks that dazed the community.
Toledo, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, faces life in prison without parole when he is sentenced on March 14 by Superior Court Judge Barbara Villano in Toms River. He initially faced the death penalty, but that option was taken off the table after the state Legislature in December abolished capital punishment in New Jersey.
