Interesting. While Republicans were out there, including President Bush, decrying what Rep. Duke Cunningham did, Democrats are celebrating former NC Rep. Frank Ballance going to jail:
Former congressman Frank Ballance, due to start a four-year prison term by the end of this month, will be given a send-off this weekend featuring an appearance by comedian and activist Dick Gregory.
A spokesman for Gregory said the entertainer would be in Murfreesboro on Saturday to speak at a lunchtime event billed as a "celebration and appreciation" at Nebo Baptist Church.
The event was announced this week with an advertisement in a local newspaper, listing a telephone number to call for more information. That number repeatedly rang unanswered Friday, and a message left at the church was not returned.
Ballance, 63, must report by Dec. 30 to begin serving a four-year prison term for conspiring to divert taxpayer money to his law firm and family through a charitable organization he helped found. (previous article here)
So, this is how Democrats respond. Reminds me more of what happened to Ray Liotta’s character in Goodfella’s, partying it up, then taking a limo to prison, then how a former US Congressman should act. Though, hey, they are Democrats. Synonomous with hypocrite.
