TB Friday Featuring The Surrender Monkey: Dems Do Not Admit Mistake

Happy Friday to all! It’s that time of the week again! Do you have an interesting post you want to share with everyone? The official Surrender Monkey of the Democratic Party says to do what the Lefties don’t, since they all have the same talking points: link it!

Surrender Monkey Mistakes

Remember that meme of the Democrats, that Bush never admitted a mistake? The one where they received the help of most of the Credentialed Media in constantly asking Dubya to admit a mistake, particularly during the 2004 election cycle? Funny how they themselves will never admit a mistake, instead, blaming Bush for their poor leadership and action skills. For instance, in the case of the FISA law

But Ms. Pelosi and other House Democrats said Mr. Bush and Congressional Republicans were at fault because they had resisted temporarily extending the bill to allow disagreements to be worked out. Democrats would not be bullied into approving a measure they considered flawed, she said.

“The president knows full well that he has all the authority he needs to protect the American people,” said Ms. Pelosi, who then referred to President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s admonition about fearing only fear itself. “President Bush tells the American people that he has nothing to offer but fear, and I’m afraid that his fear-mongering of this bill is not constructive.”

So, it is President Bush’s fault, along with the House Republicans, that, according to the NY Times, Pelosi refused to schedule a vote

The refusal of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, to schedule a vote on a surveillance measure approved Tuesday by the Senate touched off an intense partisan conflict over the national security questions that have colored federal elections since 2002 and are likely to play a significant role again in November.

She did have time to schedule a different vote on the legislation, which she also blames on Democrats. She wanted to extend the law as it was, rather then passing the newer one. 34 Democrats crossed the aisle to vote “no” with every Republican.

And let’s not forget that she had time to play politics with a contempt charge against Harriet Miers and Josh Bolton. Important bidness! But don’t forget, Nancy Pelosi has to go to a wedding. Apparently, that is more important then FISA. You know, that whole “provide for the common defence…” thing. Must be important, since it is in the Preamble to the Constitution, which is the ultimate law of the land, whether some Democrats like it or not.

Nancy had lots of time to schedule votes on feel good measures, those “supporting the goals and ideals” types. While some are worthwhile, none of them are above protecting the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Check the daily digest for Thursday.

John at Power Line writes that Congressional Democrats are not serious about national security. That sorta goes without saying, but, it needs to be said. Funny how they used to complain about Bush and the House GOP not implementing every single measure recommended by the 9/11 Commission, yet, now that they are the majority party in Congress, they do worse then nothing.

The logic of George Bush is that to stop the terrorists he must be allowed to break the law. First allow unsupervised spying of Americans and immunity for companies that knew they were breaking the law but still cooperated with illegal government requests(coincidendtly protecting the administration officials illegalities).

Only a coward would agree to relinquish the rights his forefathers fought for with blood for the illusion of safety. I do not fear the terrorist. But I fear for my country when people like you support the blind loyalty to the state for government full of deceptions, corruption and incompetence.

This government is not afraid of the terrorist its afraid of its citizens.

  2. po says:

Yeah, Nancy probably had the time to schedule a vote. Problem was, those in the House only got documents pertaining to the Unitary Executive’s enlistment of the telecos in the NSA spying programs, which likely pre-dates 9/11/2001. While Congress has many staffers, these documents likely will take some time to review and digest. You wouldn’t want our nation’s leaders to pass uninformed legislation would you? Why that could just make things worse.

And beside, we’re ok. Mukasey even said so:

BUSH: Failure to act would harm our ability to monitor new terrorist activities, and could re-open dangerous gaps in our intelligence.

NPR: Mr. McConnell, the Bush administration says that if the Protect America Act isn’t made permanent, it will tie your hands, intelligence hands, especially when it comes to new threats. But isn’t it true that any surveillance underway does not expire, even if this law isn’t renewed by tomorrow?

MCCONNELL: Well, Renee it’s a very complex issue. It’s true that some of the authorities would carry over to the period they were established for one year. That would put us into the August, September time-frame. However, that’s not the real issue. The issue is liability protection for the private sector.

So, all that’s involved, according to somone who actually is suppose to know what he’s talking about, is “liability protection for the private sector.”

As an example, if you wanted to go outside and play, but when you tried to open the front door, your big brother was there blocking it. You try to get past, but he keeps pushing you back in the house. After a few tries, the big brother finally tires of pushing and decides to tie you to a chair. One secured in the chair, the big brother finds their father and proclaims, “My little brother does nothing but lounge around inside the house. He never goes outside. You should punish him, dad!” According to you, it is the little brother’s fault for not going outside.

When the Republicans walk out of Congress; when the filibuster to shill for an unpopular president; when the minority leadership accuses the majority of Congress (and, by proxy, the majority of Americans who agree with the Democrats) of helping the terrorists; and when they want their way with no compromise, it makes sense to blame the “Big Brother” bully.

  4. MattM says:

Damn them Democrats for not admitting mistakes! Because we all know that George Bush apologized for Iraq, for illegally spying on Americans, for waterboarding, for “mission accomplished”, for paying journalists for running misleading stories supporting the administrations goals, for Teri Schiavo, etc., etc., etc.

You can cry and whine and stomp out of Congress all you want about the evil Democrats, but the vast majority of American people don’t believe you.

  6. John Ryan says:

The House of Representatives is the people’s house. Having to be re-elected every 2 years and in our smallest federal districts makes them more accountable to their constituents. Meaningful legislation is currently being blocked by the minority party in the Senate. The American people know this and although they give low approval ratings to the Congress as a whole they consistently rate the Democrats in Congress 25% higher than the minority party. The Democrats have only a bare majority in the Senate now but they will be in a stronger position in Nov picking up an additional 5-9 seats.

  7. randy says:

Dear Republicans, wecome to permanent minority party status.

    The Libertarian Party
    The Socialist Party
    The Reform Party

Oh you are right. Us lefties just PRAY for bombs and planes to fall on us from the skies, you stupid piece of sh!t.

You are too stupid to hold two things in your fat head at the same time. Just like Baghdad Bush you cannot j@ck off and eat a pretzel at the same time.

Security without liberty is neither. You are too cowardly to ever say, give me liberty or give me death. You are a chickensh!t motherf#cker.

  9. Hoss says:

FISA is not ending. The “Protect America Act” is expiring. FISA will still be in place, along with all of the modifications that were made to it in the years since 9/11. The law has been updated to cope with all forms of modern communication, and it doesn’t even require a warrant to begin listening to any communication immediately (you can get a warrant up to 3 days after the fact).

Either you haven’t done the research required on the subject, or you’re deliberately trying to mislead people. Either way, you’re way off base here.

Although I suspect that you dont’ really care about any of this…

regarding fisa and the democrats. 1) retroactive immunity is bad. 2) if the law was so important, why not strip the provision for retroactive immunity and debate it at a later time? and if contempt votes are a waste of time, what is a bill recognizing the importance of christmas? or the imp[ortance of christianity? both republican sponsored i believe. no offense to anyone here, as i no longer consider myself an american, but i think both parties are guilty of wasting time, democrats have no spine, republicans have no soul. face it america is circling the drain, get used to it.
