Beer Monday: Gray Lady Says Surge Is Working

The start of the work. Time to get busy, shift a few paradigms, revolutionize outside the box. How ’bout a beer?

And, woah! do the liberal readers of the New York Times need a beer. On the front page (Internet and print edition), there is a story that basically says the Surge is working

BAGHDAD, Nov. 18 — The American military said Sunday that the weekly number of attacks in Iraq had fallen to the lowest level since just before the February 2006 bombing of the Shiite shrine in Samarra, an event commonly used as a benchmark for the country’s worst spasm of bloodletting after the American invasion nearly five years ago.

Data released at a news conference in Baghdad showed that attacks had declined to the lowest level since January 2006. It is the third week in a row that attacks have been at this reduced level.

The two writers, Cara Buckley and Michael R. Gordon, do give a slight try at injecting some negativity into it, but, they just either do not have the heart, or believe that The Surge is working. I can see them, and the person who allowed this story to get in to the Times, being dressed down in a corner office this morning.

No matter what, The Surge is working. The plans for Iraq have come to fruition. The average Iraqi is fighting back against their extremist brethren, as well as the foreign fighters streaming in from all over the world. And the article gives many reasons why The Surge is working. And, as far the attacks being at such low levels

The most pressing issue, they said, was how to keep them down and reduce violence further given the failure of Iraqi leaders to achieve reconciliation.

There are certainly a few ways, but, from our domestic end, what would help would be Democrats not attempting to surrender before the job is done with their constant talk, protests, petitions, and, in Congress, their constant surrender votes and speeches.

Speaking of Democrat surrender monkeys, November 17 was a special day for the Left

Today marks two years from the day that Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) boldly called for a timetable for redeployment of U.S. forces out of Iraq. “The war in Iraq is not going as advertised. It is a flawed policy wrapped in illusion,” Murtha said, adding that his call for withdrawal was motivated by deep concern for the state of the military:

Boldly called for surrender. I wonder how many nasty letters the Think Progress crowd will write to the Times for their “neocon” support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in todays paper?
