Excitable Eric Swalwell Says Any Dem Running For President Must Pledge To Get Rid Of New Ballroom

He’s serious, as serious as dating a Chinese spy

Eric Swalwell Wants Candidate Litmus Test: Must Pledge to Demolish the Trump Ballroom

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has become the latest to succumb to what Trump supporters are now calling “BDS” – Ballroom Derangement Syndrome.

The northern California congressman wants a pledge from any 2028 Democrat presidential candidate that he or she will demolish President Donald Trump’s planned “big beautiful ballroom” — or not bother to seek the party’s nomination.

“Don’t even think of seeking the Democratic nomination for president unless you pledge to take a wrecking ball to the Trump Ballroom on DAY ONE,” Swalwell wrote on X on Saturday night.

The political pejorative “BDS” — the acronym emerging in social media and even making it to the screen at Fox News — is a new variation of TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, a slam that has been around since the first Trump term in office.

Well, see, I don’t like that, because BDS is Bush Derangement Syndrome, the first true derangement by the moonbats. It’s what earned them the barking moonbat moniker. But, there really isn’t another good word for ballroom as a descriptor, so, anyhow, does Eric “Fang Fang” Swalwell have the juice to make this stick? To make the moonbat Democrat base adopt this as a belief?

A variety of eyebrow-raising ballroom reactions have been reported by Breitbart News.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) told MSNBC’s The Weeknight that the demolition of a section of the East Wing was “taking a wrecking ball to our democracy.”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) told reporters the project was so the 47th president could be “celebrated as if he was a king.”

And, really, a ton of these hardcore leftists are freaking over a ballroom replacing a wing of the White House that virtually none of them could say what happens there. Even the Washington Post editorial board has defended the ballroom, but, the crazies have worked themselves up into a foaming lather against the ballroom. Dems will be running against Trump in 2028, even though he’s not running again, so, hey, why not BDS?

Exxon Sues PRC Over Climate (scam) Reporting Rules

I still maintain that the thing for Exxon to do is stop selling their products to the state government of the People’s Republik Of California, if not pull out of the state altogether. Let’s see how Californian’s like it. But, they want to sue

Exxon sues California over new laws requiring corporate climate disclosures

ExxonMobil has filed suit in federal court challenging two California laws that would require the oil giant to report the greenhouse emissions resulting from the use of its products globally.

The 30-page complaint, filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, argues that the laws violate the company’s free speech rights by requiring it to “trumpet California’s preferred message even though ExxonMobil believes the speech is misleading and misguided.”

Senate Bill 253, the 2023 legislation known as the Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act, requires the California Air Resources Board to adopt regulations by this year to mandate public and private companies with more than $1 billion in annual revenue to begin publicly disclosing their emissions across three “scopes.” (snip)

ExxonMobil contends that the legislative history shows that the bills seek to “place disproportionate blame on companies like ExxonMobil for being large and for the avowed purpose of spurring public opprobrium,” according to the lawsuit.

“California may believe that companies that meet the statutes’ revenue thresholds are uniquely responsible for climate change, but the First Amendment categorically bars it from forcing ExxonMobil to speak in service of that misguided viewpoint,” the complaint said.

Well, we’ll see how that goes.

Filipinos sue Shell, say climate change worsened typhoon

Philippine victims of a 2021 typhoon are seeking compensation from energy giant Shell for deaths and damage that they say were intensified by climate change partly resulting from the oil and gas company’s carbon emissions.

Shell says it is not legally liable for the disaster wreaked by 2021 Super Typhoon Odette, known as Typhoon Rai internationally. It killed more than 400 people and was the second-most costly storm in Philippine history.

The nearly 70 Filipinos who lost family members or suffered injuries or damage sent a “letter before action” this past week to Shell seeking an unspecified amount of compensation. If the company does not provide a satisfactory response, they say they plan to file a lawsuit in Britain in mid-December. (snip)

Groups supporting the effort — Greenpeace Philippines, the Legal Rights and Natural Resources Center, the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice and the green energy transition group Uplift — said they focused on Shell because of its “high historic emissions and early knowledge of the causes and effects of climate change.”

In other words, it’s an astroturfed climalawfare suit. Shell should stop selling their product in the Philippines, and Filipinos can watch their energy prices skyrocket.

Rand Paul Wants A Bipartisan Commission On ACA Subsidies To Reopen The Government

Good idea? Bad idea?

Paul floats bipartisan commission amid Affordable Care Act subsidies battle

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) called on President Trump to appoint a select group of bipartisan senators to a commission tasked with addressing the expiring health care subsidies — the issue at the core of the ongoing shutdown standoff.

In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” the libertarian senator suggested Democrats could agree to reopen the government for a one-month period, during which the commission would formulate proposals to address the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits set to expire at the end of the year and raise health insurance premiums for millions of Americans.

“I suggest that President Trump come forward and name three Republicans and three Democrats in the Senate to an official commission to figure this out over a one-month period and come back with a solution,” Paul said. “But in exchange for that, I think the Democrats need to open the government for a month, and then we need to pay the workers, pay our soldiers.”

The Kentucky Republican said he opposes extending the ACA subsidies but agrees “there’s a problem” with health insurance costs. He argued the subsidies have contributed to the rising health care premiums and said lawmakers must find another solution.

“As we’ve expanded ObamaCare subsidies, what’s happened is premiums have continued to rise, and big insurance has gotten richer and richer and richer,” he said.

I would not be against a 1 year extension of the subsidies, because, look, the chance to truly kill Obamacare was 2012, but, too many Republicans sat out and refused to vote Romney. Once it went into effect getting rid of it is virtually impossible. However, that doesn’t mean there can’t be changes, including big ones. I would recommend giving in on the subsidies, and only the subsidies, nothing else, for 1 year. Democrats would have to agree, otherwise, their whole argument goes down the tubes. What, will they argue in favor of health insurance/care for illegals, money for DEI programs in other countries, climate scam programs, etc?

During that 1 year the panel would need to come up with recommendations to make changes to the Ocare program to actually reduce costs

It’s worth the reading the entire thread, but, these two stand out

Good Grief: ABC Super Rages About A Few Trees Taken Down At White House

In the Age Of Trump the news can’t just be “hey, this happened”, no, it has to ZOMG, EVERYBODY PANIC!

At least 2 historic magnolia trees, Kennedy Garden appear to have been removed to make way for Trump’s White House ballroom

Legend says that George Washington once chopped down his father’s cherry tree.

Satellite images show President Donald Trump’s project to build a $300 million grand ballroom has appeared to take down at least six trees on the White House grounds — including two historic magnolia trees commemorating Presidents Warren G. Harding and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The satellite images released on Thursday provide the fullest picture yet of the extent of the demolition work on the White House’s East Wing and its effect on the surrounding parkland — changes made without consulting the government commission established by federal law to ensure the preservation and integrity of government buildings in D.C., according to former commission officials who spoke to ABC News.

Visible construction work on the new ballroom appears to have begun more than three weeks ago, according to satellite images of the White House complex taken over the last month. An image taken on Sept. 26 shows preparations for the construction, including the removal of multiple trees in President’s Park.

As StevieD noted before ABC took down their original tweet (but put a new one up) “I guess if the construction of a ballroom is dominating the news cycle and is all we have to complain about, things in the US are quite good.” Yeah, we do, but, it’s all about the TDS in the Credentialed Media.

Pretty much. But, hey, funny how the media isn’t too concerned about this

Bad Idea: GM To Replace Carply, Android Auto With Own Propriety System

This will not go well. GMs can already be a pain to use and figure out, and, it’s not like people think they are reliable, other than pickups

GM is eliminating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from all vehicles — here’s the real reason why

General Motors is eliminating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from all future vehicles – and it’s already maddening motorists.

The surprising announcement was made earlier this week by CEO Mary Barra, who claimed the company will completely phase out the popular systems from its entire fleet of electric and gas-powered cars over the next few years.

In their place will be GM’s own built-in interface, powered by Google’s Android Automotive OS, with Barra arguing in an interview with The Verge that it will allow for “a smoother, safer, and more unified user experience.”

GM has already begun rolling out its own system in some of their EVs, but currently continues to offer CarPlay and Android Auto in 34 of 40 models across its brands, per Newsweek.

According to AutoBlog, “GM’s long-term goal is to turn its vehicles into ‘software-defined platforms,’ unlocking revenue from subscriptions and in-car services.”

That doesn’t sound good

“Another really dumb decision by a US automaker (and I own GM products),” one fumed. “NO ONE wants a captive ‘GM’ system for apps and navigation. We know it will suck and they will upcharge it $2,000 on every car.”

“Here comes subscriptions to turn your car on,” another snarked.

“No longer can you get a vehicle without some sort of subscription being shoved down your throat,” a third X user raged. “Remote start is no longer on the fob. Next up, no more Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. If this trend continues, both apps will be discontinued completely.”

There are many manufacturers which make you pay for certain features that were already on the car, like seat heaters and remote start. You must subscribe, and, even use your phone with an app. Tell you what, if I had to pay to remote start my car, and use my phone instead of the key fob, I just wouldn’t. Heck, might look at a different manufacturer. I can subscribe to an app for $10 a month, but, I don’t. Not even having Alexa on the car is worth it (Samsung watches do not have the ability like my old Fitbit, have to pull out phone, usually turning on TV before I get home so can load up ESPN and watch my hockey game quickly).

Mercedes-Benz recently introduced its own operating system in its new CLA model, while Audi also has its own interface.

According to the Daily Mail, Ford, Toyota, and Volvo are also “developing their own [independent] software ecosystems.”

Not sure why. Carplay and AA work. And Apple customers are rabid about wanting to use Apple stuff. I suspect it’s all about finding a way to start hitting customers with “micro-transactions” and subscriptions.

Newsweek Wonders If Japan Can Go Hardcore On Booting Out Immigrants

What they can do is be way more judicious on who they allow into Japan, from visitors to workers

Can Japan’s New Leader Afford to Go Hard on Immigration?

Japan’s new prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, has earned a reputation as a hardliner on immigration, an image that helped propel her to power amid rising nationalist sentiment and debate over Japan’s identity amid demographic decline.

Hailing from the conservative wing of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Takaichi won last month’s runoff election to become Japan’s 104th and first female prime minister. Her rise came amid an uptick in anti-foreigner sentiment, with some observers saying she tapped into that mood to secure the LDP leadership and the top political post in the country.

Have you noticed that the feminists aren’t celebrating her election, because she is engaged in Wrongthink?

Japan, one of the world’s most homogeneous nations, faces deepening labor shortages as its birth rate plummets and its population ages.

The number of foreign residents has risen sharply in recent years, reaching a record 3 percent of the population in 2024, as Tokyo cautiously loosened visa rules for workers in key industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, and caregiving. At the same time, the country has seen unprecedented levels of tourism—up 48 percent in 2024 from the year before, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization.

But the post-pandemic influx has not been universally welcomed. Reports of unruly visitor behavior have sparked public complaints and a rise in anti-foreigner sentiment that right-wing politicians have been quick to capitalize on.

Watching social media, the top two issues are Japan letting in lots of Islamists, who do their hardcore Islamist stuff, like taking over streets to pray and declaring that Islam will take over Japan, and visitors who do their horribly annoying narcissistic “Influencer/creator” garbage, annoying Japanese. Doing stupid stunts on subways, messing with culture, etc. Seriously, these people do not seem to be visiting Japan to see the sites and enjoy the culture. And you get things like

Takaichi has pledged a crackdown on illegal immigration and visa overstays, restrictions on foreign purchases of land, particularly by Chinese nationals, and tighter border controls. She has appointed Kimi Onoda, known for her tough stance on immigration, as minister in charge of a “society of well-ordered and harmonious coexistence with foreign nationals.”

She has also repeated unsubstantiated claims about rising crime among foreigners, though official statistics show such offenses have been declining for over a decade. Last month, she voiced concern about tourist misconduct, alleging that foreign visitors had kicked sacred deer in Nara Park, one of Japan’s most famous cultural sites.

The people voted for her, so, obviously, they want this

Whether or not Takaichi’s administration is as tough on immigration issues as her campaign rhetoric suggests, some observers warn that failing to actively invest in and integrate foreign nationals into society will have lasting harm on Asia’s second-largest economy.

“Observers”. The same people who push unfettered immigration from areas incompatible with the 1st World, who refuse to assimilate and demand countries assimilate to their lives.

Oregon Gov Signs Order Ramping Up Climate (scam) Protections Or Something

Kotek signs executive order to ramp up climate change protections in Oregon

Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek signed an executive order on Thursday, aiming to speed up climate protections for state land and water.

Executive Order 25-26 directs certain state agencies to increase the pace of climate resilient strategies in existing state programs.

“Oregon’s forests, grasslands, farms, and wetlands deliver critical benefits statewide and can sequester more carbon,” Kotek said in a statement. “We will unlock the incredible promise and power of our natural and working lands by implementing proactive policies that protect priority lands and waters and help landowners manage their landscapes to withstand and recover from the impacts of climate change.”

The executive order features several provisions including a “10 by 10” directive that sets a goal for state agencies to protect or restore 10% of Oregon’s land and waters within 10 years compared to 2025’s baseline conditions.

Oregon to miss its 2035 greenhouse gas reduction benchmark by 2 years, report says

Oregon will miss its 2035 greenhouse gas emissions reduction goal by two years, due to a boom in data centers and the end of federal vehicle emissions standards, according to an analysis completed this month. But state officials pushing to drastically cut carbon emissions say it’s not too late to get back on track. (snip)

The Oregon Climate Action Commission, which released the report, is seeking public input until 5 p.m. Oct. 31. The commission is a 35-member advisory group, with 13 of its members appointed by the governor.

So, citizens in the People’s Republik Of Oregon won’t buy EVs without massive government subsidies? Or, at least, super gas efficient hybrids? They won’t take one for the team and practice what they preach? Weird. How about the state government? My public input would be that the state stop using fossil fuels completely, which could cause an issue for the Elected’s like Kotek who wouldn’t be able to hobnob around in a big fossil fueled SUV. Maybe the state could close all the airports and shipping ports? Anything helps, right?
