Snow emergency parking rules confuse drivers
For the first time Thursday, Omaha began enforcing rules that restrict where people can park in a snow emergency, and confusion ensued.

With most politicians, this would be a heartfelt speech on getting everyone involved to fix an issue. With Obama’s history, this is outsourcing the issue while ducking any work himself
(Politico) President Obama urged Americans to keep pushing for efforts to combat gun violence, as he thanked hundreds of thousands of people for voicing their concerns to the White House over the course of the week since the Newtown shooting.
“We hear you,” Obama said in a web video released Friday morning, responding to the more than 400,000 people who have signed a collection of petitions on the White House’s We the People website urging a swift response to the Dec. 14 massacre.
“You’ve started something and now I’m asking for you to keep at it,” he said. “I’m asking for your help to make a real, meaningful difference in the lives of our communities in our country and make sure the United States of America is a safer, stronger place for our children to learn and to grow.”
There you go, Liberals/Progressives/Democrats: Obama has given you your marching orders. Give up your own guns.
Call out the vast liberal entertainment industry that makes violent movies and TV shows that feature murder and guns.
Call out the video game industry that glorifies murder and guns.
Call out Obama for surrounding himself with people who carry guns, including automatic assault weapons.
But, mostly give up those guns you use for protecting yourself and your families from criminals who couldn’t care less about laws and often use guns obtained illegally to rob, injure, and kill people (doing those things are also against the law, just to be clear).
CNN provides some of the details, which seem oddly similar to an article at the Atlanta Black Star (read both, and realize that the ABS article was posted before the CNN article, and is trending on several news aggregators), minus the Palin Derangement Syndrome
(CNN) Managing editor Richard Stengel wrote Obama deserved the recognition because he “forged a new majority, turned weakness into opportunity and sought, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union.”
But Palin, who along with 2008 GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, lost to the Democratic presidential ticket four years ago, said “those are some silly words chosen to describe Barack Obama.”
“When I first heard that, the first thing that popped in my mind was: What the heck has he done? Really, what has he done, except drive us over a fiscal cliff,” she said. “What has he done to unify and make our nation a more perfect union? For the life of me, I don’t know.”
Well, he is giving free stuff to people. Paid for by borrowing 46 cents on every dollar the United States federal government spends. He’s increased the debt by over $6 trillion dollars. He’s made Americans even more divided. He blames everyone else, and demonizes private citizens and entities.
(Atlanta Black Star) Palin offered this assessment of the proper path “toward a more perfect union.â€
“The path toward a more perfect union is our Constitution and I think we’ve seen examples of our President not necessarily following the Constitution,†she said. “In fact, he’s wanting to change the Constitution because he see it as a charter of negatives…and he’s made statements in the past about his view of our Constitution. And following the Constitution is the blueprint toward a more perfect union.â€
If the Founding Fathers truly agreed with Palin, they wouldn’t have seen the need to continually add amendments to the constitution. But let us not pick nits with the former governor.
Ah, but the Founding Fathers left a path for adding amendments, but until such time, elected officials are legally required to follow what the Constitution says.
Palin also had a few things to say about Benghazigate and the former Marine being held in Mexico, which team Obama is doing nothing about. The media doesn’t want to focus on those, obviously.

(Washington Post) The Republican primary to replace Rep. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) could pit former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford against his ex-wife, Jenny Sanford.

Citing monsoons and other extreme weather phenomenon on the other side of the globe, Kirk Smith, a global environmental health professor, said climate change is “a moral issue.â€
Smith told an anecdote to the audience of a professor who ignores a drowning child on campus as he rushes to teach a class. He then tells his students about ignoring the child, and they are aghast. Later at home, the hypothetical professor opens his mail and throws away a letter from the United Nation’s Children Fund.
“No one thinks that is immoral, and why not,†Smith said of throwing away the UNICEF letter. “What’s the moral distinction? … Today climate change is a sin of omission.â€
So…..all the Warmists who have failed to give up their fossil fueled vehicles are guilty of manslaughter.

The combination of heavy snow and fast-whipping winds caused most people to simply not brave the conditions and take to the roads in Dodge County.
It’s so terrible, kids in Wisconsin can’t go outside!
Elsewhere, I-70 is closed, and drivers in Iowa and Nebraska were warned to just stay home.

(The Hill) President Obama has identified climate change as one of his top three priorities in his second term after coming under fire from environmentalists for giving the issue short shrift during the campaign.
The president, in an interview for TIME’s Person of the Year award, said the economy, immigration, climate change and energy would be at the top of his agenda for the next four years.
What we saw during Obama’s first term was a laser like focus on the economy for a few days after a speech, then he’d forget about it for months and months as things like golf, parties, vacations, and campaigning became his top priorities. Then a speech about a laser like focus for a few days. Lather, rinse, repeat. So, he’s specifically telling us what three issues he’ll mostly blow off over the next 4 years.
And he has got to know that he’ll never get the votes in the GOP controlled House, and even some Democrat Senators aren’t on board with artificially jacking up the cost of living for Americans through “climate change” legislation.
In that press conference, Obama touted executive actions designed to curb emissions, such as finalizing new vehicle fuel efficiency standards and rolling out the first-ever air pollution limits for new coal-fired power plants.
So, more legislation by kingly decree. Still, don’t expect a whole bunch out of Obama in his attempt to make the weather nicer. Perhaps he could tell us what the optimal temperature should be. Oh, and give up his own big “carbon” lifestyle.

….and by crazy Republican, I mean Barbara “Don’t Call Me Ma’am” Boxer (D-Brokeifornia)
(LA Times) Federal funds would be made available to deploy National Guard troops at schools under legislation introduced Wednesday by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) in response to last week’s mass slaying at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.
The Save Our Schools Act would leave it to governors to decide whether to call out the National Guard and how to use troops around schools.
“Is it not part of the national defense to make sure that your children are safe?” Boxer said at Capitol Hill press conference.
Well, now, that is very interesting, and very “crazy Republican” of her. It’s not often that I agree with Babs (I do agree with many of her non-globull warming environmental stances), but this is not that bad of an idea.
Boxer said the National Guard legislation is modeled after a program in place since 1989 that allows governors to use the National Guard to aid law enforcement in anti-drug operations. Â Troops could be deployed at schools, or assigned to desk jobs at police stations to free up local law enforcement to patrol schools.
All we need is one, perhaps two, armed people at the school to deter one of these crazy people who are looking to commit mass murder before suicide and get not only their 15 minutes of fame, but in the history books. Though, providing some teachers/administrators with weapons and proper training would be just as good. The guns would stay on them during school hours and be locked up in, say, the school office at the end of the shift.
OK, I’m going to patiently wait for Liberals/Democrats to attack Boxer as crazy insane like they’ve attacked any Republican/Conservative who has recommended putting armed people in schools.

Let’s say a school has 100-1000 students, odds are you can find plenty of students who have grandfathers who are retired ex police, ex military, ex law enforcement etc etc etc. These are people who have used weapons, have been trained with weapons and know how to use them with responsibility.
While retirement can be pleasant one of the thing that can be hard is no longer having responsibility. Going from a position of respect to a position where people just see you as old.
There would be tons of retirees with the training and time who would jump at the chance. Heck, I bet they would do it for minimum wage. Have them work part time, like many retirees do just to keep busy. And, it is difficult for a potential mass murderer to shoot when someone else is shooting back.

I know I’m a little late to this party, but it still amuses Mr that a guy who enjoys personally picking who will receive a visit from a drone strike, continuously spits on the Constitution, and is the most decisive president ever gets the POY nod. Why?
Twenty-seven years after driving from New York City to Chicago in a $2,000 Honda Civic for a job that probably wouldn’t amount to much, Barack Obama, in better shape but with grayer hair, stood in the presidential suite on the top floor of the Fairmont Millennium Park hotel as flat screens announced his re-election as President of the United States. The networks called Ohio earlier than predicted, so his aides had to hightail it down the hall to join his family and friends. They encountered a room of high fives and fist pumps, hugs and relief.
That’s right, he won for…winning the election. That’s it. One hell of an accomplishment. Bah.
