Congressional Democrats Have Big Mad Over Republicans Clean Spending Bill

I guess they aren’t going to get their money they can give to agencies to run through NGOs and such which ends up in the pockets of campaign donors, family members, friends, and their own pockets

Speaker Johnson unveils bill to fund the government through September 30

House Speaker Mike Johnson formally unveiled plans on Saturday for a government funding stopgap through September 30 — a measure intended to stave off a potential March 14 shutdown and buy time for Donald Trump and GOP leaders to steer key pieces of the president’s agenda through Congress this summer.

But Democratic leaders quickly slammed the door on supporting the measure, raising the specter of a high-stakes clash next week.

The president himself on Saturday endorsed the measure, which includes some cuts to domestic spending programs that Democrats will likely oppose. GOP leadership aides said Saturday that it would increase defense spending by about $6 billion while domestic spending would drop by about $13 billion.

Heck, they could re-coup way more than $13 billion if Democrats would help DOGE eliminate waste, fraud and graft….oh, right, campaign donors, family members, friends, and their own pockets. Oh, really, $13 billion? That’s the best you can do, Republicans?

And while GOP leadership aides stressed that the plan includes no partisan policy add-ons, it does include certain White House funding requests, such as some new money intended to help carry out additional deportations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Oh, you mean the thing authorized by the Constitution and previously passed congressional laws?

But in an ominous sign for Congress’ ability to stave off a shutdown next week, House Democratic leaders said they plan to vote against the bill, arguing it “recklessly cuts” domestic spending programs.

“The legislation does nothing to protect Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, while exposing the American people to further pain throughout this fiscal year. We are voting No,” Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar said in a joint statement Saturday evening.

Well, unless a few House Republicans get squishy, it will pass the House, and, hopefully any riders are shot down. Keep it clean. But, can they get enough Democrats to switch and vote to end debate in the Senate? If not, this shutdown is on Democrats, no matter how the media tries to portray it.

House GOP leaders believe the plan is on track to pass the chamber, arguing that Trump’s backing will help them win robust support among House Republicans on the floor this week, even as many ultraconservatives typically loathe such stopgap measures. Johnson hopes to hold the vote Tuesday on the 99-page bill, according to people familiar with the plans.

Wait, 99 pages? Obamacare was over 1,000. I’m a little concerned, like other ones, that it gives too much leeway for agencies to spend money willy-nilly.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and his leadership team have, too, said they want negotiations to continue instead of pursuing a long-term stopgap. But it’s not clear how forcefully Schumer and his team will push their Senate Democrats to oppose the bill if it makes it to the chamber.

Remember when Congress used to pass budgets? Not short term stop-gaps (though, this is supposed to go to September)?

USC Student Almost Attacked By Coyote

Things are dangerous on college campuses

University campus on high alert after student narrowly avoids attack by wild animal: ‘It was a shock’

A student at the University of Southern California recently endured an attempted wildlife attack on campus, according to USC Annenberg Media.

Nicole Bednar was on campus in a group one evening when a coyote started following her.

“I wasn’t worried at first when it was only stalking us, but then it was a shock after it had tried to attack,” Bednar said. “When we first saw it, I just pointed it out and casually kept looking back to see it follow us.”

Bednar attempted to scare the wild animal by making loud noises and appearing large, but it still lunged in her direction. Fortunately, she was unharmed in the incident, but there have been multiple coyote sightings on campus, according to the report.

That’s terrible

Experts agree that food is one of the biggest attractions for wildlife. When wild animals eat human food, they can lose their fear of us, which can lead to increased conflict. For instance, in Canada, officials euthanized two bears that displayed aggressive behavior as a result of food conditioning.

But, wait. You have to know what is coming next, right?

A shifting climate also makes feeding more challenging for animals. This can force wildlife to roam further afield, including into human-occupied territory, to survive.

DHS To Prosecute Two Criminal Leakers

It is actually refreshing that federal employees will be held accountable for their actions

Noem says DHS has ID’d, will seek prosecution of ‘criminal leakers’

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Friday that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified two “criminal leakers” within its ranks and will refer them to the Department of Justice for felony prosecutions.

“We have identified criminal leakers within @DHSgov and are preparing to refer these perpetrators to the @TheJusticeDept for felony prosecutions. These individuals face up to 10 years in federal prison,” she wrote in a post on the social platform X along with a video message.

“We plan to prosecute these two individuals and hold them accountable for what they have done,” Noem announced in the video, saying that they leaked the department’s operations and put law enforcement officials’ lives at risk.

The names of the individuals have not been revealed.

Last month, Tom Homan, President Trump’s  “border czar,” said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions in Colorado were hindered after a raid was “leaked,” allowing the targets to escape.

So many federal employees think they can do whatever they want whenever they want, regardless of the rules. And laws. It’s nothing new, it’s been going on for decades, but, it continues to get worse, partly because nothing happens to the leakers. Who has paid the price for leaking the Supreme Court decision on abortion? Sure, some young folks will get in trouble for taking photos in a submarine to impress their girlfriend, but, when they leak for their left wing politics? Nothing. Well, not anymore. This is not whistleblowing (remember, the Biden admin went after them). This is not free speech, not petitioning for redress of grievance, not protesting peaceably. These are criminal violations, and they will pay the price.

Leftist States Move Ahead With Their Own Climate (scam) Rules

I find it interesting how Green Central Banking (sounds rather commie) goes with rules: in other words, forcing the peasants to comply while the Elites are exempt

US states forge ahead with climate rules even as Trump rolls back policies

As the US federal government rolls back its green policies under Donald Trump’s anti-climate agenda, some states are taking the fight against climate change into their own hands.

Two bills reintroduced in New York’s senate would require climate disclosure rules similar to those adopted by California in 2023, while a bill requiring greenhouse gas emissions disclosures was introduced in Colorado in January.

State legislators in Democratic states have been considering climate reporting rules for several years, largely driven by uncertainty around the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) climate reporting rules. The SEC’s rules took two years to pass and were watered down to exclude scope 3 emissions, and have been frozen since the change in administration. (snip)

Because both bills target large companies operating in their respective states, there is likely to be some overlap. However some companies in New York that don’t operate in California, such as real estate and regional hedge funds, would be required to disclose, said Fajans-Turner. And having two major states with similar climate reporting rules would also send “strong market signals to companies about what the expected way of doing business is”, she added.

Or, it could cause those companies to abandon those states. You can bet there will be lawsuits the minute they are signed. And, it will cause quite a few companies to no longer give Democrats any campaign funding.

This is just the beginning, said Sawyer, as many states and Americans recognise the material impact that climate change has on the economy. State action is likely to increase, as it is up to states to “pick up the slack” from the federal government. The Trump administration has dismantled much of the climate progress made by the previous administration, such as rolling back an executive order that required federal agencies to assess climate-related financial risks to the economy.

Suddenly, Democrats discover States Rights.

Sec Of State To Revoke Visas Of People Supporting Terrorist Groups

Too bad Marco Rubio can’t force all the U.S. college kids wearing keffiyehs and chanting about destroying Israel and killing Jews to study in Islamic nations

(Times Of Israel) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says foreigners supporting terror groups will face deportation, in a statement issued shortly after Axios reported that his office is planning to use artificial intelligence to revoke visas of foreign students who are perceived as supporters of Hamas.

“Those who support designated terrorist organizations, including Hamas, threaten our national security. The United States has zero tolerance for foreign visitors who support terrorists. Violators of US law — including international students — face visa denial or revocation and deportation,” Rubio tweets.

The State Department’s “Catch and Revoke” initiative will include AI-assisted reviews of tens of thousands of student visa holders’ social media accounts, Axios reported.

At the same time, officials will also launch a probe into whether any visa holders were arrested but allowed to stay in the country during former US president Joe Biden’s administration, the report added.

That AI is going to look at tens of thousands of students. Too bad they can’t easily go after all the other visa holders who have marched in the streets. Too bad they can’t scoop up those imported and granted mass citizenship, which can be revoked. They should be looking at those on Temporary Protected Status and other measures that import huge numbers of people from Islamic countries if they are radicals.

For those saying this violates free speech: they are not US citizens, and they are violating their student visas by supporting a US designated terrorist organization, plus calling for Jews to be killed. They are guests in the U.S.

Uh Oh: Extreme Rain Causes E Coli In Marginalized Communities

Apparently, ‘climate change’ is so smart that it can send rain to certain communities and make only those people sick

Scientists uncover troubling health risks that can occur after rainfall: ‘This is a complicated issue’

Black and Latino communities are bearing the brunt of E. coli-contaminated waters due to extreme rainfall in Texas, according to a new study.

The University of Michigan-led research looked at Escherichia coli, climate, environmental, and socioeconomic data available for the state between 2001 and 2021 and used computational models to explore where extreme rainfall had the greatest impact on E. coli levels.

News Medical Life Sciences summarized the paper, explaining that the impact varied by season. For instance, communities in the northern and eastern parts of the state with greater percentages of Black residents had higher concentrations of E. coli entering their recreational waters due to extreme rain during the winter. Predominantly Latino communities in South and West Texas feel these effects in September.

Or, it could be that their computer models are designed to be super scary and entice minorities to join the doomsday cult. Along with getting all those rich white liberals to feel bad about those poor, downtrodden blacks and Latinos who cannot take care of themselves without the big hand of government, of which those rich white liberals think all blacks and Latinos are.

But E. coli is just one public health concern for communities of color across the United States. For instance, rising seas and frequent bouts of torrential rain are causing septic tanks across the South to fail, flooding streets and backyards with waste and putting communities at risk for gastrointestinal diseases and other health hazards. In Alabama’s majority-Black Lowndes County, where septic systems are becoming increasingly overwhelmed, at least a third of people have tested positive for hookworm, a disease normally found in developing countries.

Holy crap, do you know how bad that paragraph is? Besides the whole “climate doom is targeting black people”, Lowndes County is well inland. It is 153 miles from Hayneville, Alabama, the center of the county, to Pensacola, Florida. The lowest part of the county is still 47 (154 feet) meters above sea level.

Oh, hey, where’s that E. coli coming from? Are they saying that E. coli is worse in black and brown areas? Seems rather racist.

Big Sad: ICE To Now Go After Illegal Alien Families

How many can there actually be? A goodly chunk of the photos we see have been of young, military age men

Trump raids will now target migrant families who entered the U.S. with their children

U.S. immigration agents are planning a new operation to arrest migrant families with children as part of a nationwide crackdown, according to three sources familiar with the planning.

The operation will target adults and minor children who entered the country together and have orders of deportation, the source said. After the families are arrested, agents will place them into detention before they are removed.

A separate operation to find children who entered the United States unaccompanied and were released without court dates is also underway, the sources added.

The sources said lawyers at Immigration and Customs Enforcement are now working to secure warrants to enter homes and conduct the arrests.

I enjoy how NBC News put the two operations together, making it seem as if the operation to find the kids the Biden-Harris admin lost is to round them up and deport them. Don’t think this wasn’t done intentionally. Especially since the operation to find the unaccompanied and missing kids started weeks ago

During the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump and border czar Tom Homan said that plans for mass deportations would initially focus on migrants who had committed crimes. The new plans for national operations show that many of the families and children to be targeted do not have criminal histories.

And it did start with criminals, and will continue. Because, get this, they are all criminals. They broke federal law when they came across the border. And the adults already have court ordered deportation against them.

Since 2014, the Obama, Trump and Biden administrations have all attempted to deter families and unaccompanied minors from crossing the border.

No one actually believes Obama and Biden tried to deter them, right? They pretty much invited them in, and did all they could to bring them in, because it would totally Be Mean to not allow them in, and Be Mean to deport them, right?

After Joe Biden took office in 2021, his administration started a program that placed migrants who had crossed the border as part of a family on a path for expedited removal, which required the head of households to be tracked with an ankle monitor until the family was deported. The program was costly, former ICE officials say, and was limited to certain cities in the U.S.

And how many were actually deported? Even though it was Biden, you would have heard about it in the news, with Blame assigned to ICE, not Joe. Regardless, what you have here surely is people in the Trump admin intentionally leaking this information as a way to let illegals with deportation orders that federal authorities are coming for them. And that those without orders (yet) could be next, and probably are next. And that those who try and come illegally shouldn’t, because they will not be allowed in if caught, and those that make it will probably be caught and deported. Just because they have kids doesn’t mean they will be exempt.
