Palin Doubles Down On Impeachment

The next time you hear politicians denounce Barack Obama as a lawless, imperial president with a scandal-riddled administration, ask them what they’re going to do about it. Their gnashing of teeth over Obama’s self-granted omnipotence is repetitive.

Let’s agree with our ninth president, William Henry Harrison, who said there is nothing more corrupting, nothing more destructive than the exercise of unlimited power. We understand the problem. The only way for politicians to fix it is with a little less talk and a lot more action.

The Constitution provides the remedy for a president who commits “high crimes and misdemeanors.” It’s impeachment.

She has a point regarding nothing being done to hold Obama accountable. That said, there’s no way he would be kicked out of office, even if the GOP regains the Senate. There just aren’t enough votes, because the vast majority, if not 100%, of Democrats will not vote to get rid of him. Palin does make a much better case than last time

To be clear, “high crimes and misdemeanors” are not necessarily ordinary criminal offenses. Our Framers used the term to signify a dereliction of duty, and the first duty of the president is to enforce our laws and preserve, protect, and defend our Constitution.

Alexander Hamilton described impeachable offenses as those “which proceed from the misconduct of public men, or, in other words, from the abuse or violation of some public trust.” He explained that they are “political” offenses “as they relate chiefly to injuries done immediately to the society itself.”

Excellent points. She goes on to lay out her argument, noting specific points, something I mentioned was really missing last time. Head over to read her points. She makes a good case, and in a realistic world, Obama would already be impeached and kicked out of office. Alas, reality intrudes, as do politics.

There is a big danger, here, namely that Obama could come out of any impeachment preceding with more power and more emboldened. I’m not really worried about a President Biden. He couldn’t be worse than Obama. Also, this could damage the chances of the GOP taking the White House, much less holding the House, and the Senate if they win in 2014, come 2016. Democrats have always played the long game. Republicans need to learn to do the same, and 2016 is it.

TSA Claims Illegals Able To Fly Without Verifiable ID

You should try this, if you have some sort of court order: book a flight, and instead of showing your government issued ID (isn’t that raaaaacist?), show your court order

(Breitbart) Illegal aliens are being allowed to fly on commercial airliners without valid identification, according to the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC). “The aliens who are getting released on their own recognizance are being allowed to board and travel commercial airliners by simply showing their Notice to Appear forms,” NBPC’s Local 2455 Spokesman, Hector Garza, told Breitbart Texas.

“This is not the CBP [Customs and Border Protection] or another federal agency renting or leasing an aircraft, these are the same planes that the American public uses for domestic travel,” said Garza. “This just adds insult to injury. Not only are we releasing unknown illegal aliens onto American streets, but we are allowing them to travel commercially using paperwork that could easily be reproduced or manipulated on any home computer. The Notice to Appear form has no photo, anyone can make one and manipulate one. They do not have any security features, no watermark, nothing. They are simply printed on standard copy paper based on the information the illegal alien says is the truth.”

Spokesman Garza continued, “We do not know who these people are, we often have to solely rely on who they say they are, where they say they came from, and the history they say they have. We know nothing about most of them, ICE releases them into the American public, and now they are boarding aircraft at will with a simple paper document that anyone can easily alter or reproduce themselves.”

Both the TSA and the commercial airlines would turn you, the legal US citizen, away if you did not have a proper ID. The TSA has lots of information on identification that is acceptable for those 18 and up, which does not include a Notice To Appear. The bigger question is, what about the kids?

It gets a bit more dicey when it comes to children. There are no real TSA rules, and airlines have lots of their own rules. However, children traveling alone do require a check-in and pick-up by an adult with an acceptable form of identification. All this does beg the question, is the TSA allowing the illegal children to board and fly commercial airlines without knowing who will pick these kids up?

Weekly Address: Expanding Opportunity – It’s Time for Congressional Republicans to Do Their Part

Hi, everybody. This week, I spent some time in Colorado and Texas, talking with people about what’s going on in their lives. (and shooting pool, meeting people with horseheads, generally having fun while ignoring the border)

One of them was Elizabeth Cooper, who’ll be a college junior this fall. She wrote to tell me something I hear often: how hard it is for middle-class families like hers to afford college. And she shared something I know many of you feel when you wonder what’s going on in Washington. She said she feels “not significant enough to be addressed, not poor enough for people to worry [about], and not rich enough to be cared about.” (maybe she should ask Senate Democrats who held the Senate open to yammer about “climate change” because a %.01er asked)

I ran for President to fight for Americans just like Elizabeth – people who work hard, do everything right, and just want a chance to build a decent life for themselves and their families. (running is not the same thing as managing)

But while we’ve created more jobs at this point of the year than any year since 1999, too many families barely earn what they did in 1999. It’s harder to pay for college, save, or retire, because people’s wages and incomes have not gone up. Nearly all the gains of the recovery are going to the very top – and aren’t making a difference in your lives. (Democrats had two full years at the beginning of Obama’s first term, as they controlled the House and Senate, and frittered that away. They still control the Senate. What are they doing? What has Obama done other than stoke class warfare? Oh, and attend lots of big donor fundraisers)

Here comes the whining and blamestorming

But so far this year, Republicans in Congress have blocked every serious idea to strengthen the middle class. Lifting the minimum wage, fair pay, student loan reform – they’ve said no to all of it. And that’s when I’ve acted this year to help working Americans on my own– when Congress won’t act.

I’ve taken actions to attract new jobs, lift workers’ wages, help students pay off their loans, and more. And the Republican plan right now is not to do some of this work with me – instead, it’s to sue me. That’s actually what they’re spending their time on. It’s a political stunt that’s going to waste months of America’s time. And by the way, they’re going to pay for it using your hard-earned tax dollars.

I have a better idea: do something, Congress. Do anything to help working Americans. Join the rest of the country. Join me, I’m looking forward to working with you.

This is one of the reasons I refer to him as Not My President (NMP) Obama: the whining and using the office of POTUS for hardcore political attacks. He’s whining about being sued while he acts in a lawless manner. He actually has the cojones to whine about using “hard-earned tax dollars” when he uses those same dollars to travel to fundraiser after fundraiser, along with quite a few golf trips and vacations. Remember, he’s bailing on his job for half of this coming August.

This is a guy whose economic ideas are given on sticky pads and short talking points. A guy whose budgets have consistently been shot down by his own Party. They refused to even bring the most current budget up for a vote. The GOP has passed dozens of economic bills, which languish in the Democrat controlled Senate. Furthermore, while Obama was recording his campaign style, heavily partisan Weekly Address (because he needs some “me time” Saturday, in which he will certainly play yet another round of golf)

And

Sorry, John, Obama doesn’t have it within himself to do the hard work, nor be anything but a hardcore demagogue who demands things his way or no way.

Hooray: Skeptics Are New “Climate Optimists”!

Does this make Warmists “Climate Doomists”? The original title was Heartland Institute: Climate Change Conference “Optimism is the new denial”

(Slate) It’s tempting to find irony in the spectacle of hundreds of climate change deniers staging their convention amid a drought of historic proportions. But, as the conference organizers are quick to tell you, they aren’t actually climate change deniers. The majority of this year’s speakers readily acknowledge that the climate is changing. Some­ will even concede that human emissions are playing a role. They just think the solutions are likely to be far worse than the problem.

Most think Man plays a small role. Some, like Anthony Watts, believe Man plays a big role. We just don’t see the doom in Warmist prognostication.

“I don’t think anybody in this room denies climate change,” the Heartland Institute’s James M. Taylor said in his opening remarks Monday. “We recognize it, but we’re looking more at the causes, and more importantly, the consequences.” Those consequences, Taylor and his colleagues are convinced, are unlikely to be catastrophic—and they might even turn out to be beneficial.

Don’t call them climate deniers. Call them climate optimists.

OK. Will do. And we’ll call you bat shit crazy apocalypse believers, who whine about fossil fuels (linking of the fossil fuel industry is in paragraph 6) but won’t give them up yourselves.

That doesn’t mean, of course, that the evidence on both sides is equal. There’s a reason the climate deniers are losing the scientific debate, and it isn’t because academia is better funded than the energy industry. All of which helps to explain how climate optimism might be a more appealing approach these days than climate denial. Models of how climate change will impact society and the economy are subject to far more uncertainty than the science that links greenhouse gas emissions to the 20th-century warming trend. The costs of mitigating those emissions are more readily grasped: higher energy bills, government spending on alternative energy projects, lost jobs at coal plants.

Except, as poll after poll shows, Warmists are losing the debate. Most want nothing to do with the Warmist solutions, and typically find that climate change is dead last or next to last in lists of concerns.

Warmists Really Psyched Over Whale Poop

The Incredible Thing About Whale Poop Is That It Fights Climate Change

But a group of scientists from the University of Vermont and elsewhere think the ocean’s future health has one thing going for it: the restoration of whale populations. They believe that having more whales in the water creates a more stable marine environment, partly through something called a “whale pump”—a polite term for how these majestic animals defecate.

Commercial hunting of great whales, meaning the baleen and sperm variety, led to a decline in their numbers as high as 66 percent to 90 percent, the scientists write in a new study in Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment. This mammalian decimation “likely altered the structure and function of the oceans,” says lead author Joe Roman, “but recovery is possible and in many cases is already under way.”

The researchers—who are whale biologists—present a couple of arguments for how these animals help secure the climate-threatened ocean. The first is their bathroom behavior: After feeding on krill in the briny deep, whales head back to the surface to take massive No. 2s. You can see the “pumping” process in action amid this group of sperm whales off the coast of Sri Lanka:

You have to feel for the person who took that photo. But these “flocculent fecal plumes” happen to be laden with nutrients and are widely consumed by plankton, which in turn takes away carbon from the atmosphere when they photosynthesize, die, and wind up on the ocean floor. A previous study of the Southern Ocean, to cite just one example, indicated that sperm-whale defecation might remove hundreds of thousands of tons of atmospheric carbon each year by enhancing such plankton growth. Thus, these large whales “may help to buffer marine ecosystems from destabilizing stresses” like warmer temperatures and acidification, the researchers claim.

Wait, wait, wait, you mean these are natural processes? That surely evolved over time naturally? Because there has always be climate change on Earth? Huh.

What Say To A Climate Change Bill Of Rights?

It’s for the children, of course

(National Center For Scienc Education) NCSE is pleased to announce the launch of the Climate Science Students Bill of Rights, which articulates the principle that all students deserve the best climate science education available as part of a 21st-century science education. Sponsoring the bill of rights along with NCSE are Climate Parents, the Union of Concerned Scientists, and the Alliance for Climate Education.

In a July 10, 2014, press release, the four organizations explained that they plan to “work across the country to bring together parents, students, teachers, administrators, and concerned citizens to support high-quality climate science education and speak out about attacks on efforts to improve it.”

Awesome more “spreading awareness”, propaganda, indoctrination, and politically motivated attacks. Anyone think these far left Progressives will allow opposing views?

Let’s take a look at this so-called climate change bill of rights

  1. Receive the highest quality science education as determined by educators, free from ideological or political interference. (Educators who tend to be far left fanatics, and are only interested in 1 viewpoint)
  2. Explore the causes and consequences of climate change. (Which will be blamed mostly/solely on Mankind)
  3. Learn that meaningful solutions to slowing climate change exist. (Progressive ideological ones)
  4. Examine the data and evidence that leads to the established scientific consensus on climate change in a learning environment that encourages inquiry, questioning and understanding. (As all non-Warmists know, the consensus is BS in scientific papers, and if one is citing consensus they aren’t interested in science)
  5. Understand how climate science informs social, political, and personal decision-making. (Wait, I thought per #1 that this wasn’t about politics, and this would be free of political and ideological interference? No?)

If they really cared, all the teachers would stop driving fossil fueled vehicles and turn off the heating/AC systems in their classrooms to Save Us. See #3. Of course, they mean solutions that affect Other People.

Obama Staff: #TheBearIsLoose” Or Something

Bears, beer and horse heads: What exactly is going on with the leader of the free world?

On a single day this week in Denver, President Obama scarfed down pizza and drinks with strangers, shot pool with Colorado’s governor and shook hands with a guy on the street wearing a horse mask. His top staffers are promoting these stops on Twitter with the hashtag #TheBearIsLoose — a term one of Obama’s aides coined in 2008 when the candidate would defy his schedule.

More than five years into his presidency, Obama is trying to free himself from the constraints of office, whether by strolling on the Mall or hopscotching the country as part of a campaign-style tour. White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer says the president “just wants to get out” and influence “our overall political conversation” by connecting with ordinary Americans.

Two points. First, if he feels so constrained by doing the job he ran for, twice, he can simply resign. Let’s not forget that his campaigns were not little campaigns, but massive monsters. Second, the attempts to “get out” wouldn’t be a problem if he was doing his job in the first place, rather than putting as little work as possible.

Senior White House officials say they cannot tear up the president’s schedule every time a domestic or international crisis erupts, although they’ve made exceptions before. Last fall, Obama canceled a trip to Asia in the midst of the government shutdown.

Yet, there is very little on (NMP) Obama’s schedule to start with. Take today: he gets the presidential daily briefing, then meets with some business leaders at 10:50am. That’s it. Out in the Real World, any CEO is going to change their schedule when Something Big happens. Especially if it is Bad.

“What I’ve said to my team is ‘Get me out of Washington,’ ” Obama said Wednesday night during a fundraiser in Austin. His summer schedule features out-of-town trips practically every week, including meetings between him and people who have written him personal letters.

In other words, this is all about continuing the Neverending Campaign. He’s basically just going to mail it in for the rest of his term. He’s doing what he has done for most of his political career: voting “present“.

IRS Ordered To Explain “Lost Emails” Under Oath

(Fox News) A federal judge has ordered the IRS to explain “under oath” how the agency lost a trove of emails from the official at the heart of the Tea Party targeting scandal.

U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan gave the tax agency 30 days to file a declaration by an “appropriate official” to address the computer issues with ex-official Lois Lerner.

The decision came Thursday as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, which along with GOP lawmakers on Capitol Hill has questioned how the IRS lost the emails and, in some cases, had no apparent way to retrieve them.

The IRS lawyer argued that this might impeded the AG investigation, continuing the stonewalling. Judge Sullivan said “yeah, no, you’ll follow my directive, and also explain how the emails could be recovered with other methods”.

Meanwhile, Steve Stockman files motion to arrest Lois Lerner

Congressman Steve Stockman Thursday filed a resolution directing the House Sergeant-At-Arms to arrest former IRS Director of the Exempt Organizations Unit Lois Lerner on charges of contempt of Congress.

“Asking the Justice Department to prosecute Lois Lerner for admittedly illegal activity is a joke.  The Obama administration will not prosecute the Obama administration.  How much longer will the House allow itself to be mocked?  It is up to this House to uphold the rule of law and hold accountable those who illegally targeted American citizens for simply having different ideas than the President,” said Stockman. (snip)

“It’s time to for House to stop tacitly endorsing this administration’s illegal activity by refusing to hold him accountable.  I expect Democrats to defend and even praise criminal activity.  The question is whether Republican leadership will join them in mocking the House and breaking the law,” said Stockman.

Stockman hopes Nancy Pelosi, CNN, and The NY Times will be consistent, since they’ve all claimed the ability to arrest for contempt is within the House’s power. No worries, as none of them have mentioned this. In fact, other than Politico and The Hill, there are no major left leaning national news outlets which cover the story. Nor did the Big 3 cover it. I think we can all guess who this would be covered, along with the entire IRS scandal, had it occurred under a Republican president.
