Doom Delayed: We Now Have 20 Years Till Climate Disaster

Yet another doom and gloom prognostication of future doom

(Grist) With every year that passes, we’re getting further away from averting a human-caused climate disaster. That’s the key message in this year’s “Low Carbon Economy Index,” a report released by the accounting giant PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The report highlights an “unmistakable trend.” The world’s major economies are increasingly failing to do what’s needed to to limit global warming to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit above pre-industrial levels. That was the target agreed to by countries attending the United Nations’ 2009 climate summit; it represents an effort to avoid some of the most disastrous consequences of runaway warming, including food security threats, coastal inundation, extreme weather events, ecosystem shifts, and widespread species extinction.

Overall, PricewaterhouseCoopers paints a bleak picture of a world that’s rapidly running out of time; The required effort to curb global emissions will continue to grow each year. “The timeline is also unforgiving. The [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] and others have estimated that global emissions will need to peak around 2020 to meet a 2°C [3.6 degrees F] budget,” the report says. “This means that emissions from the developed economies need to be consistently falling, and emissions from major developing countries will also have to start declining from 2020 onwards.” G20 nations, for example, will need to cut their annual energy-related emissions by one-third by 2030, and by just over half by 2050. The pressure will be on the world’s governments to come up with a solution to this enormous challenge at the much-anticipated climate talks in Paris next year.

So, unless we completely destroy our economies, give up all our freedom and liberty to Centralized Government, and pay huge taxes, doom is locked in come 2034. Now, if only that darned warming would actually cooperate with Warmist predictions and computer models, we won’t have to add this to all the other failed Warmist predictions.

Obama’s ISIS Speech Was A Hot Mess Of SCOAMFness*

It started out well (transcript via Time)

My fellow Americans, tonight I want to speak to you about what the United States will do with our friends and allies to degrade and ultimately destroy the terrorist group known as ISIL.

Then it degenerated in paragraph two

As Commander-in-Chief, my highest priority is the security of the American people. Over the last several years, we have consistently taken the fight to terrorists who threaten our country. We took out Osama bin Laden and much of al Qaeda’s leadership in Afghanistan and Pakistan. We’ve targeted al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen, and recently eliminated the top commander of its affiliate in Somalia. We’ve done so while bringing more than 140,000 American troops home from Iraq, and drawing down our forces in Afghanistan, where our combat mission will end later this year. Thanks to our military and counterterrorism professionals, America is safer.

That was all about chest thumping by Obama. Sounded like a campaign speech

Still, we continue to face a terrorist threat. We can’t erase every trace of evil from the world, and small groups of killers have the capacity to do great harm. That was the case before 9/11, and that remains true today. And that’s why we must remain vigilant as threats emerge. At this moment, the greatest threats come from the Middle East and North Africa, where radical groups exploit grievances for their own gain. And one of those groups is ISIL — which calls itself the “Islamic State.”

OK, not bad. Then we immediately move into unbelievable stupidity

Now let’s make two things clear: ISIL is not “Islamic.” No religion condones the killing of innocents. And the vast majority of ISIL’s victims have been Muslim. And ISIL is certainly not a state. It was formerly al Qaeda’s affiliate in Iraq, and has taken advantage of sectarian strife and Syria’s civil war to gain territory on both sides of the Iraq-Syrian border. It is recognized by no government, nor by the people it subjugates. ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.

Alas, PBO, they are Muslims, and are following Muslim religious tenets as laid out in the Koran, per their reading of it. And ISIS/ISIL is attempting to create an Islamic caliphate.

Then there was some “meh, could have given a quick daytime speech” stuff, followed by leading from behind, we’re not in it alone, some shaking fist at that non-Islamic Islamic State stuff, followed by his supposed plan, which I guess was better than nothing. And then it goes off the rails

Our technology companies and universities are unmatched. Our manufacturing and auto industries are thriving. Energy independence is closer than it’s been in decades. For all the work that remains, our businesses are in the longest uninterrupted stretch of job creation in our history. Despite all the divisions and discord within our democracy, I see the grit and determination and common goodness of the American people every single day –- and that makes me more confident than ever about our country’s future.

Abroad, American leadership is the one constant in an uncertain world. It is America that has the capacity and the will to mobilize the world against terrorists. It is America that has rallied the world against Russian aggression, and in support of the Ukrainian peoples’ right to determine their own destiny. It is America –- our scientists, our doctors, our know-how –- that can help contain and cure the outbreak of Ebola. It is America that helped remove and destroy Syria’s declared chemical weapons so that they can’t pose a threat to the Syrian people or the world again. And it is America that is helping Muslim communities around the world not just in the fight against terrorism, but in the fight for opportunity, and tolerance, and a more hopeful future.

More at Twitchy.

One thing I want to make clear: for the most part, I approve of Obama’s actions regarding the War On Terrorism. His words do not always match his actions, sadly, but his actions, such as drone striking the hell out of Jihadis, special opps groups, etc, around the Middle East and Northern Africa, as well as in Afghanistan, have been strong. I wish his speech had been.

Never Forget. Never Surrender (Will Remain At Top For The Day)

Today marks the 13th anniversary of that dark day, when Islamic jihadis killed 2,996 of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Two years ago, the USA Today is wondered if 9/11 is becoming just another day, similar to Pearl Harbor Day. Based on the tiny coverage by major news outlets, which feature tiny stories on their front pages, if at all, it just might be. NY Times, the “paper of record”? Nothing. The Washington Post? Nothing. CBS has an article wondering if we’re any safer. NBC? Nothing. ABC has a brief story about changes to the commemoration. Good for them. LA Times? They actually do a good job, with 8 articles for a look back, including 9/11 in pictures. CNN has a few tiny graphics. Good for the Daily Kos, about the only liberal blog that mentions 9/11 that I’ve run across.

People wonder why we should Remember the day in an overt fashion, unlike, say, Pearl Harbor day. Well, we defeated the Japanese within a few years. It was a different type of war. 9/11 was when we were attacked on our continent by people who will not stop anytime soon, an enemy that is not centralized by a nation, who spread according to their religious tenets.

Those blogging (from the feedreader at this time of the morning)

Why should we never forget? Things like this

Oops: First Species Wiped Out By Climate Change Lives

Another Warmist meme bites the dust

Once plentiful on a tiny coral atoll in the Indian Ocean, the Aldabra banded snail (Rachistia aldabrae) was declared extinct in 1997 as one of the world’s first recorded direct casualties of climate change. But last month, a monitoring team found a population on one of the atoll’s islands, surprising the team and giving hope that other species whose habitats are being degraded by climate change may still be able to cling to existence. (snip)

Scientists have linked human-caused climate change to shifting rain patterns in the Seychelles. In particular, the Aldabra Atoll has dried out significantly in the past few decades, wiping out suitable habitat for the moisture-loving snails.

Obviously, nature never ever ever changed prior to fossil fuels.

So,  virtually ever animal issue they try and blame on man caused climate change turns out to be wrong. It’s a shame that they go down these roads, rather than dealing with real environmental issues.

If You’re A Pro-life Christian, You Should Care About “Climate Change” Or Something

No, really, says Tom Krattenmaker at The Daily Journal

Why climate change concerns pro-life Christians

This is not a column dedicated to bludgeoning those unmoved by liberals’ warnings about climate change. It is an invitation to people, especially Christians, to think about what’s happening to the water, and what will happen to us if there’s not enough of it to go around.

For whatever reason, 58 percent of California is in “exceptional drought,” which is even worse than “extreme.” Also in the headlines: a tap-water drinking ban in Toledo, Ohio, precipitated by Lake Erie algae blooms that researchers attribute, in part, to warmer temperatures.

These and similar phenomena are more than a boutique concern for silly liberals. If you care about life — and I know you do, especially if you’re a Christian who believes in the sanctity of life — please pay attention to what is happening with the water.

(blah blah blah, doom from Hotcoldwetdry)

I have been around enough Christians to know there is room in their hearts, and on their agenda, for this life issue, too.

You Know You Live In A Country Run By Idiots When…

This is too good not to snag it from The Lonely Conservative who got it from Zero Hedge who got it from Fellowship Of The Minds Blog

1. If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally, you live in a country run by idiots.

2. If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion, you live in a country run by idiots.

3. If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote on who runs the government, you live in a country run by idiots.

7. If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more, you live in a country run by idiots.

11. If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government, you live in a country run by idiots.

Read the rest. Oh, and if Government tells you that the way to increase freedom is to increase the role of centralized government in your lives, you live in a country run by idiots.

When Semi Retired President Obama’s Lost Michael Moore….

Tough choice for Progressives: stand with Michael Moore or Obama?

(Hollywood Reporter) Michael Moore sees President Obama’s legacy as set. The progressive documentary filmmaker couldn’t help but express his disappointment with the legislative accomplishments of the politician.

“When the history is written of this era, this is how you’ll be remembered: he was the first black president,” Moore said during a discussion at The Hollywood Reporter’s video lounge at the Toronto Film Festival.

“OK, not a bad accomplishment, but that’s it,” the director said. “That’s it, Mr. Obama. 100 years from now, ‘he was the first black American that got elected president’ and that’s it. Eight years of your life and that’s what people are going to remember. Boy, I got a feeling, knowing you, that — you’d probably wish you were remembered for a few other things, a few other things you could’ve done.”

“So, it is, on that level, a big disappointment,” Moore said.

Is Moore correct? Possibly? There are many things Obama might be remembered for. Increasing the national debt by over 7 trillion dollars (so far). Hyper-partisanship. Doing all he can to avoid doing the job he campaigned for twice. Golfing. Golfing immediately after giving a statement about an American beheaded by ISIS. Presiding over an economy in the doldrums. Leading from behind. Refusing to get behind rising democracy in the Middle East. Yammering on about income inequality while enriching the 1%. The list of Bad Things goes on and on.

It will be interesting to see how history remembers Obama. Obvioiusly, Moore wanted more far, far left Progressive policies enacted.

Foreigner Hiring Surges Under Obama

It’s probably raaaaacist to even mention this, but Dick Morris brings the story

(The Hill) Amid the media focus on the basic data in the August jobs report — that the economy “added” 143,000 jobs — is the figure that will underscore the Republican efforts to take the Senate.

During the month of August, the economy added about 659,000 jobs that went to foreign-born Americans (naturalized citizens, green card holders and illegal immigrants combined). At the same time, it lost about 643,000 jobs that had been held by native-born Americans.

Indeed, since President Obama took office, the number of foreign-born Americans who have jobs has risen by 2.9 million while the number of domestically born Americans who are employed has grown by only 1.2 million.

In other words, about three out of four jobs created during the Obama presidency went to immigrants.

When the president was inaugurated in 2009, 14.9 percent of all employed Americans had been born outside of the 50 states. At this point, the number has risen to 16.8 percent.

What does all this really mean?

The average American worker might not know these numbers (they are not publicized by the liberal media), but he feels the data in his gut. He is coming to realize that there will be no income growth or real employment increase, unless the U.S. limits immigration.

The immigration issue has now morphed into the economic issue and the terror issue.

Our wide-open back border is encouraging both wage stagnation and joblessness in the United States and inviting terrorists to cross over and to create havoc in our country.

Team Obama and the Democrats couldn’t care less about these and other issues. All they want are new Democrat voters.

The Majority Of Americans Already Consider Obama’s Presidency A SCOAMF

Jimmy Carter just fist bumped himself in the mirror

(Washington Post) A majority of Americans and even many Democrats consider President Obama’s tenure to be a “failure,” according to a new poll from the Washington Post and ABC News.

The poll shows Americans say 52-42 that Obama has been more of a failure than a success. Among registered voters, the gap is even bigger — at 55-39 — with four in 10 (41 percent) saying they “strongly” believe Obama has been a failure.

Those saying Obama has been a failure include one in four Democrats (25 percent), nearly three in 10 liberals (29 percent) and the vast, vast majority of conservative Republicans (92 percent). Nearly one in five liberals (18 percent) say they feel “strongly” that Obama has been a failure.

Of course, the WP makes sure we know we shouldn’t read too much into the numbers, cause waaaarblegarble and Obama adulation.
