Suspect Reportedly Arrested In Assassination Of Charlie Kirk

Hopefully so. And hopefully the DOJ doesn’t scrub his social media and refuse to release his motivations, manifesto, etc

Charlie Kirk’s suspected assassin captured after fatal shooting of influential conservative voice in Utah

Police have arrested a suspect in the assassination of Charlie Kirk on a Utah college campus earlier this week.

Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two, was sitting under a tent around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, debating with students on hot-button current affairs issues, when a single shot rang out. Video from the scene shows him struck in the neck before he slumped out of his chair.

“I think with a high-degree of certainty, we have him,” President Donald Trump revealed on Fox & Friends Friday morning. He added that, “essentially, someone who knew him turned him in.”

Trump did not provide the name of the suspect, nor the name of who turned the suspect in.

Of course, this won’t stop the loonies on Credentialed Media from blaming Charlie and Republicans for a Democrat shooting Charlie because his skirt was too short

And this came through with a name before I could even post this at 1030

Will his stuff be scrubbed once people figure out which Tyler Robinson he is?

What is a bolt action rifle? What we know about the gun used to kill Charlie Kirk

The gun recovered by authorities in the assassination of Charlie Kirk was a bolt-action rifle — a common hunting weapon valued for its reliability but limited to a single shot before reloading.

Unlike a semiautomatic, the shooter must manually operate the bolt handle to cycle the weapon: lifting and pulling it back moves the spent cartridge, while pushing it forward chambers a new round from the magazine. Lowering the bolt locks the round and seals the chamber, making the rifle ready to fire again — a simple, durable design that has kept it popular among hunters and target shooters.

“This process limits the rate of fire, you can only take one shot at a time,” explained retired Marine Lt. Col. Hal Kempfer in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Well, technically, you can only take one shot at a time with an AR-15 or other “assault rifles” which are semi-automatic. Bolt action are much better for long range shots, as they do not cycle with every pull of the trigger. That’s why most snipers use bolt action. Of course, this doesn’t stop the lunatics from blaming the guns

She’s by no means alone in this. They’re still calling for gun control, even after finding out it was a bolt action rifle. Because they do want the Australian solution, where guns are mostly banned, even hunting rifles. All while the same people will be allowed to be protected by armed security.

State Department warns it will revoke visas of foreigners who ‘glorify violence’ after Kirk shooting

The State Department will be monitoring the words of foreign nationals who “glorify violence” after the Charlie Kirk shooting and take “appropriate action.”

“In light of yesterday’s horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country,” Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau wrote on X.

“I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action. Please feel free to bring such comments by foreigners to my attention so that the @StateDept can protect the American people.”

And, even though the State Department has full authority to do this, wackjob left wing judges will rule against revoking visas for foreigners.

Permanent Drought Out. Flash Drought In

Remember all those times the climate cultists yammered about permanent droughts? And then a few years later things went back to normal or got all floody? The doomsday cult now has a solution

‘Flash droughts’: How climate change increases the risk of these short-lived but devastating events

Transcript: (WT note: this comes from an audio recording)

In 2012, spring in the Midwest warmed up early. Corn farmers planted their crops ahead of schedule, and the growing season looked promising.

But then in May and June, almost no rain fell. The extremely dry conditions stunted plant growth and devastated crop yields.

Ford: “By the time we got to mid-July, it was a really dire situation. … So that’s just a matter of maybe six weeks or so where we go from, ‘Yeah, everything’s good,’ to ‘We’re really in trouble.’”

Trent Ford, the Illinois state climatologist, says what happened in 2012 is called a flash drought.

It’s when a lack of rain, paired with hot temperatures that boost evaporation from soils, creates drought conditions that intensify quickly.

As the climate warms, flash droughts are growing more common in many areas – even in places like the Midwest that are also seeing more heavy downpours.

So, just short term droughts that come on quickly and then go away

Ford: “And then we’ve also had some recent flash droughts in the southeast U.S., parts of Tennessee, Carolinas. … That area, of course, is very heavily vegetated, and when it dries out, it creates a lot of fuel for wildfires.”

So although flash droughts may be shorter-lived than the prolonged droughts that plague the Western U.S. and other very dry regions, they can cause major damage.

Will this notion of flash droughts catch on in the Credentialed Media as a doomsday talking point, replacing permanent drought? Time will tell.

Appeals Court Says Planned Parenthood Ghouls Can Be Blocked From Medicaid Money

The US taxpayers shouldn’t be paying for irresponsible women to have abortions (yeah, and the men where irresponsible, as well. But, they can’t get knocked up). If they want to pay, let them. And Planned Parenthood makes more than enough yearly without government money

Trump administration can stop Medicaid spending to Planned Parenthood for now, appeals court rules

A federal appeals court is allowing the Trump administration to move forward in its plan to stop providing Medicaid reimbursement to large abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, for now.

The 1st US Circuit Court of Appeals gave the order on Thursday, while appeals continue over the legality of the section of President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and spending cuts bill law passed by Congress that restricts Medicaid funding.

The appeals court said the Trump administration can halt the funding, overriding a lower court that blocked it from doing so.

The Trump administration argued, successfully, that the congressionally approved law should go into effect while appeals courts, including the Supreme Court, weigh it.

The Medicaid determination will go into effect based on whether a health care provider is providing abortions as of October 1 and receives more than $800,000 in Medicaid payments in a year.

Seriously, the duly elected Legislative Branch passed the law, which in no way violates the Constitution, especially since the Constitution has no provision to provide any private entity money nor provide Medicaid.

“We will continue to fight this unconstitutional law, even though this court has allowed it to impact patients,” Planned Parenthood Federation of America President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson said in a statement. “Patients who rely on the essential health care that Planned Parenthood health centers provide, can’t plan for their futures, decide where they go for care, or control their lives, bodies, and futures — all because the Trump administration and its backers want to attack Planned Parenthood and shut down health centers.”

I’ve still not seen where PP provides a substantive Constitutional rationale, they just keep screeching “unconstitutional!” If Congress can give private entities money they can also deny them money.

Judge Allows Trump Admin To Cut $1 Billion In Free Taxpayer Money To “Science” Grants

They gravy train is being cut down

Judge allows Trump to cut more than $1bn in National Science Foundation grants

The Trump administration can go ahead and purge more than 1,600 research grants issued by National Science Foundation (NSF) worth more than $1bn, after a judge declined to grant a preliminary injunction in a case brought by a coalition of organizations representing thousands of scientists.

The NSF is the premier federal investor in basic and cutting-edge science and engineering, which until Trump’s second term enjoyed bipartisan support, with the agency’s independent review process revered globally as the gold standard.

Shortly after the president’s inauguration, the so-called “department of government efficiency” (Doge) led by the billionaire Trump donor Elon Musk was given free rein to overhaul the NSF to comply with what the administration said were its “changing priorities”.

Elections have consequences, so I’ve been told

Doge inflicted widespread and chaotic cuts to NSF staff, programs and research grants – particularly targeting grants that complied with congressional mandates to improve participation by women, people of color and people with disabilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (Stem).

The congressional push to improve diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in science and engineering was designed to nurture and attract untapped talent in marginalized communities, in order to boost American innovation, the economy and national defense.

In other words, giving taxpayer money to people who don’t deserve it, based on race and gender, rather than qualifications.

On Wednesday evening, the district court of the District of Columbia ruled against the scientists and declined to halt the cuts while the case proceeds through the courts.

“The Court finds that it likely lacks jurisdiction over Plaintiffs’ retrospective APA claims … [and] Plaintiffs have failed to show irreparable harm flowing from their prospective APA claims and have not shown a likelihood of success on the merits of their constitutional claims,” the court ruled.

Huh. Their lawsuit must be really meritless for a DC court to rule in favor of the Trump admin. Maybe the grants should be given out based on science, not ideology.

Washington Post Takes On “Assassination Culture”

For the most part, the assassination culture is coming from the left, who have wished death on Trump, Vance, and anyone who doesn’t toe the line of liberal beliefs. Michelle Malkin started calling this “assassination chic” way back in the mid-2000s, with lots of posts on her old website (which now directs to Unz), and she wrote about in her book “Unhinged“. How Democrats and the like minded around the world wanted George W. Bush and all around him killed. Remember how Charlie Brooker at the UK Guardian was hoping for someone like a Lee Harvey Oswald if Bush43 won re-election? Here’s the WP Editorial Board

Free speech and ‘assassination culture’

Months before Charlie Kirk was shot and killed, the conservative activist warned about the spread of “assassination culture.” He cited the attempt on President Donald Trump’s life, as well as the killing of a health care CEO. And now it seems all too likely that he himself became a victim of that violent fervor while speaking on Wednesday at Utah Valley University.

The 31-year-old, a husband and a father of two, founded the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA in 2012. Over time, he developed a massive following online and traveled frequently to college campuses — preaching to the choir while also relishing debate with his many detractors. That sort of dialogue is what universities are supposed to foster, and shooting someone for what they have to say is among the most un-American and evil acts that anyone can perpetrate.

And, yet, the Washington Post, their opinion writers, and the Editorial Board have all looked to shut down opposing voices.

Elected officials in Minnesota were horrifically assassinated at their homes in June. Trump came inches from being assassinated during a rally last summer in Butler, Pennsylvania. Then, last September, another armed madman was caught lying in wait for him. (That suspect is on trial for attempted murder this week.) Rep. Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) almost died when a left-wing radical shot up the congressional Republican baseball practice in 2017.

Too often, partisans appear eager to blame their opponents after any heinous attack — rather than straightforwardly condemning it. Studies suggest that strong public denunciations of violence from elected leaders help strengthen norms against it.

And the minute it happens with a gun Democrats and their pet media rush to blame guns and want to ban them from the hands of you peasants, all while getting protection from armed security.

The overwhelming majority of prominent Democrats forcefully and promptly condemned the killing of Kirk, including New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who hosted Kirk on his podcast six months ago. Former president Barack Obama said that “this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy.” Though Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) decried the violence, he couldn’t help himself from taking a dig at Trump. “I think the president’s rhetoric often foments it,” he said, a disgracefully ill-timed comment.

And so many of those politicians were calling for gun bans. They can’t help themselves

Many are calling the assassination of Charlie Kirk to be a “sea change” event, and, perhaps the WPEB is understanding that. Time will tell. Because when Democrat politicians and those in the media are constantly calling Trump, his people, and his voters Nazis, Fascists, authoritarians, etc, say Democracy is ending, well, what do unhinged Democrat voters do?

Perhaps the WPEB could speak to the Times? You had Kathy Griffin with her severed Trump head. You just had NC House member Julie Von Haefen posting a decapitated Trump photo. There were lots of other crazy at those No Kings protests. No Kings entices Dems to think the nation is ending and want to put a stop to it. The overblown rhetoric about Doom doesn’t help. Twitter, Blue Sky, and others are chock full of Dems celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk, and wishing for more of this. Remember how they wished the Trump assassin didn’t miss?

This stuff got Matthew Dowd fired from MSNBC. TMZ had to offer an apology for their celebration (no one is accepting it). The NY Times ran a cartoon hoping climate Skeptics were killed.

Remember the ” 2010 climate-campaign video showing a teacher blowing up students who didn’t sign on to cut their carbon footprints”? There’s been no shortage of those on the political left wishing death on opponents for not believing in ‘climate change’, abortion on demand, big government, etc. Not that those on the right are perfect, but, rarely do they follow through with violence, and most of them are way outside the mainstream, while the ones hoping and doing are typically part of the left mainstream.

Want to turn down the temperature? Start with the Credentialed Media. And have those in the media call out the Democrats who are unhinged.

Energy Secretary Tells Europe To Break Up With The Climate Cult

Is there ever a point where the European people revolt over the climate insanity so many of them have voted for?

Climate ‘Ideology’ Hurts Prosperity, Top U.S. Officials Tell Europeans

Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum defended the Trump administration’s pivot away from renewable energy in Italy on Wednesday, saying their plans to sharply expand U.S. fossil fuel exports were crucial to “peace and prosperity.”

The secretaries are swinging through Europe this week on a mission to secure contracts to sell more American fossil fuels and lobby the European Union to loosen environmental regulations that they have said are too onerous.

Mr. Wright said he would be in Brussels on Thursday to discuss the European Union’s requirements that oil and gas companies limit leaks of methane, one of the most potent greenhouse gases, and a law requiring companies to prevent adverse human rights and environmental effects in their production process.

Just a quick note: I do think we should do things to limit methane. It is a very potent GHG. It may not last that long in the atmosphere, but, it is considerably more of a GHG than CO2, and it most likely doesn’t have a doubling effect like CO2

The United States is currently the world’s biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas as well as the largest producer of oil. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Europe has largely replaced its purchase of Russian fuels with American ones, while heavily investing in wind and solar power. Renewable energy has taken off in Europe in part because many countries see it as a way of not having to rely on anyone else for their supply when they themselves don’t have significant reserves of fossil fuels.

But European policymakers have also taken the threat of climate change much more seriously. The European Union has a law that mandates a 55 percent reduction in its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and zeroing them out by 2050.

Yeah, well, the Elites in those nations sure do not seem to act like fossil fuels and GHG emissions from their own personal actions are a big deal. Only those for the peasants.

Mr. Burgum said that such “climate ideology” had infiltrated Western policymaking and required reversal if Western countries were to compete with adversaries on artificial intelligence, which he cast as a more pressing concern than climate change.

“What’s going to save the planet is winning the A.I. arms race. We need power to do that and we need it now,” he said. “We need to worry about the humans that are on the planet today. The real existential threat right now is not one degree of climate change.”

China really doesn’t care about ‘climate change’, for all the noise they make. They do care about AI, robotics, and more high tech, which is stifled in the West because of the insane climate cult requirements.

Bummer: Reports Say There Will Be 1.6 Million Fewer “Immigrants” In The US

The phrase Politico is looking for is “illegal aliens.” Heck, they aren’t even going with something like “undocumented Americans”

1.6M fewer US immigrants expected this year amid Trump, GOP policies, CBO predicts

President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, along with those in the GOP megabill enacted this summer, will significantly reduce the number of immigrants in the United States in the coming years, Congress’ nonpartisan scorekeeper estimated Wednesday.

The Congressional Budget Office now predicts that total net immigration will be 1.6 million people smaller this year than it projected in January. Contributing to that downward trend, the Republican tax and spending package Trump signed into law in January is estimated to result in the removal of 290,000 immigrants and the voluntary exit of 30,000 others over the next five years.

What the budget office has not yet calculated is how stemming the influx of immigrants will affect the federal budget. Those estimates are expected next year.

On the upside for Trump and congressional Republicans, cooling immigration is expected to shrink federal spending. But there are negative counterweights for GOP leaders too: Namely, foregone cash from taxes.

The number seems rather low. I guess we’ll have to see how many actually get deported and how many self deport. Also, remember that the border is not being overrun with illegals and fake asylum seekers. There are very few encounters, and most are not being let in.

New USCIS ‘Special Agents’ Will Be Given the Power to Arrest, Use Deadly Force Against Immigrants

On September 5, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the agency established by Congress to adjudicate immigration applications, made a startling announcement. For the first time since the agency was created in 2003, the agency will create a new class of “special agents,” who will be authorized to carry firearms and arrest people for both civil and criminal immigration and non-immigration violations.

This drastic change in the agency’s mission will instill fear in applicants seeking lawful status with USCIS, further pushing individuals who do not have clear-cut eligibility into the shadows, directly impacting our safety and security. The vagueness of the new rules also creates a lot of uncertainty for U.S. citizens and American businesses sponsoring family members and foreign talent, as well as for the lawyers representing individuals with difficult cases.

If they’ve gone through the standard legal channels, there is no worry. If they are illegal/fake asylum seekers, well, just self deport. Make it easy on yourself.

And things are ramping up in Chicago

It’s worth going and reading the whole DHS thread, which highlights many of the illegals caught, all sorts of very bad people. Who Democrats want to defend.

‘Climate Change’ Can Make Burning Man’s “Biblical Weather” Feel Worse

Are we really concerned over a bunch of rich kids, celebs, and people overspending on a terrible gathering in the desert, fueled by drugs, sex, and too much social media, dealing with weather?

At Burning Man, the Weather Can Feel Biblical. Will Climate Change Make It Even Worse?

Mariska Keasberry and her crew of builders got to Burning Man in Nevada early this year. As they finished setting up camp — in anticipation of more than 100 people joining their setup in the coming days — they felt proud of their efforts.

But then, from a distance, they saw a wall of white approaching them — fast.

For the next two hours, as the sandstorm enveloped them, they tried to save what they had just built. But the raging dust “ended up taking out about 70% of our infrastructure,” Keasberry said.

Over the course of the week, they would rebuild their camp again and again.

“In some ways, this felt a little bit like ‘Building Man,’” said Keasberry, an Oakland resident who has been going to the festival since 2016 and now co-leads a camp called The Heart Collective.

Wait, sandstorms in the desert? Really?

This year, the sandstorm was followed by several days of rain and near-triple-digit heat. And multiple years of this kind of extreme weather on the playa — including the torrential rain that created a “mudpocalypse” in 2023 — have caused some attendees to question whether to return to Black Rock Desert. They’re also wondering if human-caused climate change is threatening the viability of future burns.

You mean weather that happens in that area? None of this is unusual. But, if they’re really concerned, perhaps they will stop using all those fossil fueled vehicles to travel to this idiocy.

From the outside in — or even the inside out — the weather at this year’s burn sure looked biblical. Burning Man officials state clearly on their website to “be prepared for volatile extremes,” including excessive heat, freezing temperatures, swift thunderstorms, up to 70 mph winds and intense dust storms. The Burning Man Project, the nonprofit that organizes the festival each year, did not respond to KQED’s request for comment.

OK, once the cultists throw in “freezing temperatures” I’m done. This is a cult.
