Bummer: Satellite Data For North And South Poles Contradict Warmist Beliefs

Sorry about your cult. Be a real shame if something happened to it (via Climate Depot)

(kenskingdom) UAH v6.0 (University of Alabama Huntsville satellite) data for November were released a couple of days ago. Here are updated graphs for various regions showing the furthest back one can go to show a zero or negative trend (less than +0.01C/ 100 years) in lower tropospheric temperatures. For the second month of the climb towards the El Nino peak, there is still NO pause in the Northern Hemisphere trend. However, in some regions the pause has lengthened. Note: The satellite record commences in December 1978. The entire satellite record is now 37 years long- 444 months.

The chart, which you can see at either link (I’m doing this post on smartphone), shows a zero trend going back 18 years and 6 months for overall warming, though it does look like there will be some warming in the coming months, thanks to the El Nino conditions. I know, I know, Warmists will screech about “cherry picking”, since they obviously a) have no idea that the data is working backwards from current time (Skeptics will understand that there was warming going from about 1979-1996), or b) intentionally obtuse and deceitful in decrying the actual data.

Here’s where it gets really fun. For the North Polar region, there is a zero or negative trend for the last 13 years and 10 months.

The South Pole? A whopping 37 years of zero or negative trend. 37 years. Let’s not forget, we were originally told that satellites were the best available way to measure warming. Which still wouldn’t prove anthropogenic causation, but, hey, they thought they had something going. Then, the actual data from the satellites failed to comply.

Obama’s Super New ISIS Strategy: More Theater!

Look, on one hand, I do not want to totally slam Obama: despite his talking points and apparent lack of interest in fighting Islamic terrorism, he has done an OK job. Heck, he personally picks targets for drone strikes, and has expanded the areas in the Middle East and Africa in which we go after Islamic terrorists. The problem occurs in that we do not really know what he thinks about it, and whether he really cares. Surely, a lot goes on behind the scenes that we do not know about, much like with the Bush 43 administration. Obama, though, gives the appearance that this whole danger is inconvenient, and that he isn’t really interested. He sounds the same way I sound when people get me in a discussion of basketball, or their favorite college football team. I really do not care about either. But, basketball is quite a bit less important than anti-jihad (via Twitchy)

https://twitter.com/charlescwcooke/status/677830086247243776

Read that again

Acknowledging privately that he flubbed his initial response to the Paris attacks, Obama’s aides are hoping to add more theater to his counterterrorism response. The actual strategy isn’t changing much. But with White House aides saying they feel that Americans are more worried about the immediate threat of terrorism in the wake of Paris and San Bernadino than at any point since 9/11, there will be more events like Obama’s visits to the Pentagon and the National Counterterrorism Center this week — meetings that would likely be happening anyway, but that will be deliberately pushed into public view, with the president making sure to speak more passionately himself.

Another problem is that we’ve seen and heard Obama all these years, and he really doesn’t seem to care that much. But, this is his job.

Warmists: Non-Voluntary Investments Required To Solve Hotcoldwetdry Conundrum

Another day, another demand by the Cult of Climastrology. Remember, these are people who somehow believe that mandating companies comply and join in on carbon credit and tax and cap schemes run by government as “free market principles”. Now we see, as written by Mika Anttone, Founder and Chair of Finnish energy company St1 (I wonder if he has a financial stake in pushing this?)

IOS Is The Answer To The Climate-Change Conundrum

During the next 20 years, global demand for energy will grow by approximately 30%. The two main reasons for this are the continuously high population growth rate and the raising of the standard of living in developing countries. Today, about 80% of the world’s primary energy is generated from fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal). Because the known energy investments used to satisfy the global demand for energy will not change the current energy production structure, the CO2 emissions will continue to grow at the same rate as the demand for energy. This is a fact that must be recognized and acknowledged in climate policy so that we can find the correct means to achieve sustainable development.

So, what to do, what to do

The majority of the world’s population — about four billion people — is living on less than five euros a day. In the global economic system, their quest to raise their standard of living cannot be prevented. Instead, we can develop new sustainable means to produce energy so that raising the standard of living of these people is not solely based on the utilization of fossil energy. The work to reduce population growth must be set as a priority for international cooperation. The single most effective measure is to improve the position of women in developing economies.

Funny how Warmists so often promote limiting population in 3rd World nations.

Regarding the production of renewable energy, we must utilize research and development to discover entirely new solutions that enable replacing fossil fuels at a sufficient scale. This goal can be achieved only if the largest companies of the world are fully committed to participate in this work and use their resources in the best possible way. Because adequate levels of research and development efforts cannot be reached voluntarily, an Investment Obligation System (IOS) for renewable energy is required. Global system should be ultimate goal, but realistically, an area like the EU could be a reasonable start.

Every company producing or selling fossil energy in the EU has to comply with IOS. In cases where the same fossil energy is sold multiple times in the value chain, IOS applies only to the first company in the chain, thus ensuring actual investments in production capacity. IOS governs companies not Member States. The base level for IOS is the annual average amount of fossil energy to be produced or sold by a company during 2018-2020.

And there it is: a government dominated and run economy to uphold the principles of the Hotcoldwetdry crowd. Some would call this Socialism, and, if we look at the primary tenant of the political model, it would be, especially if the Government also owns much of the means of production. We could call it Communism. Not the political theory type, but the type in practice by many countries, and previous ones like the USSR. How’d that work out, including for real environmental concerns. Many would term this Fascism, with all private entities working for and controlled by government. Regardless, this is all a scheme to increase the power of government, using the manufactured notion of anthropogenic climate change as one of the rationales.

Companies that do not comply will face stiff penalties. The article notes that “The penalty level should be sufficient enough to force the company out of business.” So, not only will Government mandate compliance with all Cult of Climastrology beliefs, but should be driven out of business by government for having the wrong thoughts. Naomi Klein and a few other Warmists have been among the minority in saying that the entire world economic system needs to be changed away from capitalism in order to solve ‘climate change’. More and more are coming forth with their, let’s just refer to them as a command economy, beliefs.

New Moderate Muslim Group Rejects CAIR, Violent Jihad

Others and myself often wonder “where are the moderate Muslims?” in the wake of terrorist attacks. We know they’re out there. But, they seem to be outnumbered by those who celebrate attacks and/or those who say “this has nothing to do with Islam”. But, so few seem to denounce the actions of hardcore Islam. Here’s a group which isn’t hiding

(Fox News) In the days following the Dec. 2 attack in San Bernardino, Council for American-Islamic Relations representatives partially blamed U.S. policy for terrorist attacks, accused gunman Syed Rizwan Farook’s co-workers of making fun of his beard and sought to downplay comments by Farook’s father linking him to ISIS. Like Muslims throughout the U.S., CAIR officials condemned the attack, but too often with what sounded to critics like subtle caveats.

“CAIR is a primary obstacle in the effort of many honest American Muslims who recognize our need to own up and lead long-overdue reforms against the root causes of radicalization: Islamism and its separatism,” said Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, an ex-U.S. Navy officer who founded and heads the American Islamic Forum for Democracy.

Let’s not forget that CAIR is an un-indicted co-conspirator in providing material support to Hamas, a status that has been confirmed by the DOJ, which cut ties to CAIR, and federal courts.

For would-be reformers like Jasser, reclaiming the faith begins with taking back control of Islam’s image. He and other increasingly outspoken Muslim-Americans say true moderates must be honest and unequivocal in condemning acts of violence carried out in the name of Islam. Most of all, they are tired of the Washington-based nonprofit claiming to speak for them.

At it’s very roots, Islam is a violent political religion, based on the actions and words of Mohammad. The Quran itself promotes violence. But, that doesn’t mean that Muslims cannot, and have not, moved beyond the dictates of the Prophet Mohammad and his writings. Christianity had its own violent past, and, of course, there will always be nutjobs within any organization, some violent. Can Islam reduced the number of violent jihadis well below the 1% mark? More importantly, can they move beyond the calls for Sharia law, a caliphate, and its treatment of women and gays, among others? These hardcore attitudes seem to lead many Muslims down the path towards violence.

“CAIR’s information is marketed and packaged so it seems that they speak for all of us, but they don’t speak for me and my group,” said Raheel Raza, president of the Council for Muslims Facing Tomorrow. “CAIR does not and has never represented the majority Muslim voices which are as diverse as Muslims in America.”

How would a group that is based on Muslim Brotherhood principles and supports terrorist groups be able to speak for all American Muslims?

Muslims Facing Tomorrow is one of more than a dozen moderate Islamic groups from the U.S., Canada and European countries that have joined the Muslim Reform Movement, an alliance put together by Jasser.

The Muslim Reform Movement rebukes violent jihad, advocates for a separation of “mosque and state,” and celebrates individual freedom, human rights and gender equality, and secular democracy, according to its founders, who also reject the idea of an Islamic State and its Sharia Law.

Sadly, this kind of information on these new groups hasn’t hit most mainstream media outlets yet. In fact, there are virtually no articles featuring any of these groups, other than Fox and a few conservative leaning news outlets. These are the types of groups that should be promoted, showing that there is more to Islam, giving Muslims an outlet other than turning radical. The group released a statement saying “We are in a battle for the soul of Islam, and an Islamic renewal must defeat the ideology of Islamism.” Good for them. I hope they succeed.

Republicans Say They Will Keep Trying To Block Obama’s Climate Change Push

And we all trust the Establishment GOP to fight the good fight, right?

From the link

Republicans upset with President Barack Obama’s international climate change agreement remain committed to the few options they have to do something about it.

“Honestly, I never feel helpless,” insisted Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., one of the leaders in the House opposing Obama’s climate change plans.

“Whatever is going to happen today is going to happen today. This is a generational battle. If we think after one battle, one skirmish, we should throw in the towel, we are not leading the America that we have been entrusted with.”

Way down in the article they note that the historic agreement is non-binding, voluntary, and has no force of law. All Republicans need to do is refuse to fund it….yeah, about that

(The Hill) In a victory for the Obama administration, the spending package released by congressional leaders on Wednesday won’t block American financial contributions to an international climate fund for poorer nations.

The bill, greens and Democrats say, doesn’t explicitly appropriate funding for President Obama’s pledged contribution to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). But since the legislation doesn’t formally block money for the GCF either, Obama is expected to be able to use current discretionary funding streams to send American money to it.

“Based on what we have reviewed so far, there are no restrictions on our ability to make good on the president’s pledge to contribute to the Green Climate Fund,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said on Wednesday.

Fortunately, Obama will use the hard earned tax money of American’s that the GOP didn’t block to fund foolish, un-scientific ventures in other nations.

Warmists Should Totally Watch Out For The New Deniers

Now that the Cult of Climastrology has their super awesome, totally historic Paris agreement, you know, the one that is non-binding, voluntary, and has no force of law, they want you to watch out for the New Deniers, as written by hyper-Warmist Naomi Oreskes

There is a new form of climate denialism to look out for – so don’t celebrate yet

After the signing of a historic climate pact in Paris, we might now hope that the merchants of doubt – who for two decades have denied the science and dismissed the threat – are officially irrelevant.

But not so fast. There is also a new, strange form of denial that has appeared on the landscape of late, one that says that renewable sources can’t meet our energy needs.

Oddly, some of these voices include climate scientists, who insist that we must now turn to wholesale expansion of nuclear power. Just this past week, as negotiators were closing in on the Paris agreement, four climate scientists held an off-site session insisting that the only way we can solve the coupled climate/energy problem is with a massive and immediate expansion of nuclear power. More than that, they are blaming environmentalists, suggesting that the opposition to nuclear power stands between all of us and a two-degree world.

Hmm, seems like the Cult is pushing back against other Warmists who propose increasing the use of nuclear power. Remember when Warmists were saying “everything but fossil fuels?” Now they want to shoot down nuclear. Here’s the part, beyond the in-fighting of the CoC, that caught my attention

That would have troubling consequences for climate change if it were true, but it is not. Numerous high quality studies, including one recently published by Mark Jacobson of Stanford University, show that this isn’t so. We can transition to a decarbonized economy without expanded nuclear power, by focusing on wind, water and solar, coupled with grid integration, energy efficiency and demand management. In fact, our best studies show that we can do it faster, and more cheaply.

There are many definitions of demand management, depending on the economic sector. Since there are so many, let’s use a simple one from Wikipedia

Demand Management is a planning methodology used to forecast [predict], plan for and manage the demand for products and services. This can be at macro levels as in economics and at micro levels in public service organizations both governmental and NGO, industries including energy.

When an iPhone is released, they are certainly using this method to account for what they think the demand will be, as well as use methods to push the demand up. Consider the upcoming release of the new Star Wars movie? All those product tie ins? Think they aren’t part of bumping up the demand to see the movie? They all have further forecast and plan for having enough theaters and showings to keep up with the demand. Now, consider this in terms of environmentalism

In natural resources management and environmental policy more generally, demand management refers to policies to control consumer demand for environmentally sensitive or harmful goods such as water and energy. Within manufacturing firms the term is used to describe the activities of demand forecasting, planning, and order fulfillment. In the environmental context demand management is increasingly taken seriously to reduce the economy’s throughput of scarce resources for which market pricing does not reflect true costs. Examples include metering of municipal water, and carbon taxes on gasoline.

What the CoC means by demand management is limiting the availability of energy and other products to limit the carbon footprint of everything throughout the economy. The most simple form of this is by artificially increasing the cost of energy, particularly fossil fuels, through various methods. Another form will be smart meters, in which the energy companies, backed by Government, can limit the energy used by each consumer. They would have access to shut of energy at private residences. At it’s peak, this would mean being told when we could take showers, how long, when we can run dishwashers, clothes washers, and clothes dryers. Policies that would force citizens to reduce their energy use to comply with “carbon neutral” mandates. We see this playing out in Europe, where prices have skyrocketed, and energy companies only have so much energy they are allowed to produce, leaving people, especially the elderly and poor, in the dark, while so many others need to turn to things like burning wood (especially wood pellets) to heat their homes during the wintertime. Hence, governments are now going after the types of wood burning heaters used.

Cultists use the innocuous term “demand management” to hide their true Big Government, fascistic intentions. Interestingly, they never seem to realize that this will negatively affect their own lives.

BTW, they should throw me some cash, because I coined the phrase “New Climate Deniers” years ago, as part of the categories under Global Warming.

Gun-grabby Obama Meets With Gun-Grabby Bloomberg

America is hit with an Islamic terrorist attack in San Bernardino, on the heels of an Islamic terrorist attack in Paris. ISIS is expanding. There are many, many reports of ISIS members attempting to situated themselves among the Syrian refugees coming to America (and Europe, of course). Many could end up in Canada, and easily cross the border into the U.S. Hardcore Islam is attempting to spread itself around the world, including to America, often violently. Is Mr. Obama particularly concerned with this? Nope. He wants to go after American citizens ability to defend themselves

(The Hill) President Obama on Wednesday met with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an ally of the White House on gun control.

The meeting, which was not on the president’s public schedule, comes as he is weighing new executive action on guns in response to a series of mass shootings that have marred his presidency.

Several of these shootings have been performed by hardcore Islamists, such as Hasan Nidal. Instead of worrying about the threat from radical Islam, Obama is concerned with finding ways to restrict law abiding citizens from having guns. This particularly effects women, who apparently think that carrying a rape whistle or peeing themselves are poor substitutes for protection if they are assaulted. The number of women who carry handguns, as well as purchase those scary looking “assault rifles”, has exploded in recent years.

Obama huddled with Bloomberg “as part of the administration’s continuing push to address gun violence in America,” the White House said in a statement.

“The two discussed ways to keep guns out of the hands of those who should not have access to them and what more could be done at the state and local level to help address gun violence in America,” the White House added.

The problem here is that they focus on keeping guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, not criminals. The laws/executive actions proposed would barely affect criminals, if they would affect them at all. Criminals have had great respect for “Gun Free Zones”, eh?

But, it is fantastic that guys who are surrounded by people who carry guns, many of which would be on the previously sunsetted assault weapons ban and on the Democratic Party proposal for a new assault weapons ban. And many which are simply illegal for private citizens to own, being fully automatic weapons. The assault weapons ban in California didn’t work, nor did the fact that California has some of the most draconian gun laws in the nation.

On the bright side, this means more people will purchase more guns. Has anyone checked to see of Obama and Bloomberg have financial stakes in gun companies? Anyhow, this dovetails into another push the White House is making

(Washington Examiner) The White House on Monday began “staff-level” meetings and calls with religious leaders to discuss how they could help combat growing anti-Muslim sentiment in the United States.

Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to President Obama, and Melissa Rogers, who leads the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, held a conference call with leaders of all religions from across the country.

“Spoke with 890+ religious leaders to thank them for speaking up for every American’s right to be free from religious discrimination,” Jarrett tweeted on Monday.

This is where the White House goes after a deadly terrorist attack in San Bernardino. Little concern with protecting the citizens of America from the growing threat of hardcore Islam, but lots because some people might get their feelings hurt.

BTW, does anyone remember a White House push to make sure Conservatives weren’t bullied? To make sure there is no discrimination against Conservatives/Republicans? Or how about Jews, who are still the largest recipients of hate crimes in the country?

Double BTW: has the White House, with Obama at the helm, shown any concern over Blacks gunning down each other in the streets of cities run by the Democratic Party?

Triple BTW: When does Obama declare the White House a gun free zone?

Important Things: Deep Purple Elected To Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Put this one in the category of Things That Really Matter To Me

(USA Today) Straight outta Compton and into the Rock Hall.

N.W.A is joining the 31st class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The legendary hip-hop group will be inducted alongside Cheap Trick, Chicago, Steve Miller and Deep Purple on April 8 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. (snip)

In the online fan vote, conducted on multiple sites including USATODAY.com, Chicago led with 23.4%, followed by Yes, The Cars, Deep Purple and Miller. The aggregate of the fan vote counted as a ballot in the official voting. Winners of the past two fan votes — Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble for the 2015 class, and Kiss for 2014 — subsequently made it into the Hall.

It’s about darned time that these groups, particularly Deep Purple, have not been inducted before. I once placed Deep Purple as my #2 heavy metal/hard rock groups of all time, just ahead of Led Zeppelin, and I stand by that. They are one of the most influential rock groups of all. If you know rock, you know Smoke On the Water. When it comes on the radio, your brain says “Smoke On The Water” after the first note. They’ve sold over 100 million albums worldwide. They were one of the original bands to hit Japan, and their album Made In Japan is one of the greatest live albums ever. This leads to Deep Purple, in any lineup, being a tremendous live band, something that is Important to election to the RRHOFF. Yes, they were, and still are, one of the best. No one left disappointed by the quality of the music.

Drummer Ian Pace stated, right before the announcement, that he wondered which members, exactly, would be inducted, what with the lineup changes. Also

“The Hall Of Fame should be embarrassed for not inducting us already. Look at some of the non-entities who’ve got in. I won’t name them, but just have a look at some of those names, and you’ll know who I mean. What have they ever done for rock ‘n’ roll? Nothing. Having these artists in before DEEP PURPLE undermines what it is supposed to represent.”

Singer Ian Gillan had previously had some rather unkind words for the idiots at the RRHOF. And he’s right. How is that Chicago, Cheap Trick, and Steve Miller had never been elected before? All three have been making music forever. They are tremendous live in concert. They have songs that are staples of Classic Rock stations, and you know the name of the song and group the minute they come on the radio. But, how do they not have Yes? Judas Priest? Bad Company? The Cars? Doobie Brothers? ELO? Iron Maiden? Jethro Tull? Journey? Moody Blues? Motley Crue? Pat Benatar? Thin Lizzy? And many others?

Yet, N.W.A. just go elected. They aren’t even close to a rock and roll group. There are lots of non-R&R groups. Aretha Franklin? Ray Charles? The Supremes? Run DMC? Public Enemy? A few others? Granted, there aren’t as many non-rock acts as one thinks, many are Motown, R&B and soul, and, yes, are all time great acts, no doubt. Do they belong in the RRHOF? Do any rap groups belong in the least? Do country acts belong, such as Johnny Cash? And then there are rock groups who aren’t that good that are in, and well ahead of ones who deserved it.

But, anyhow, Deep Purple is finally in. So, there’s that.
