Sorta Blogless Sunday Pinup – Pre Christmas Edition

Patriotic Pinup Christmas

Happy Sunday! Another gorgeous day in the Once and Future Nation of America, and it’s just a few short days from Christmas, so we need a Christmas pinup! I’m not sure who did this pinup, which I’ve added a wee bit to.

What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15

  1. Independent Sentinel notes the revocation of Al Sharpton’s passport
  2. Weasel Zippers covers what’s going on with the Syria plan
  3. Theodore’s World notes how Michelle O plans to help the people of San Bernardino
  4. Theo Spark discusses poor little Marco
  5. The Other McCain covers being too empowering
  6. The Last Refuge wonders what your favorite Christmas toy was
  7. Right Wing News covers a reversal in a school prayer ban
  8. protein wisdom explains “losers with women”
  9. Powerline explains Trump’s liberal leanings
  10. Patriot’s Corner covers the number of American Muslims who support suicide bombings
  11. Pamela Geller notes the number of missing refugees with cancelled visas for terrorism
  12. Neo-neocon discusses the choices liberals face
  13. Moonbattery covers applied Islam
  14. Legal Insurrection notes who’s saying Obamacare is forcing people into part time jobs
  15. And last, but not least, House Of Eratosthenes discusses placemats
  16. And, being the Christmas season, one to grow on: Chicks on the Right (back on the feedreader, somehow got removed) cover the renaming of a street. Can you guess the new name?

As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets” calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me

Don’t forget to check out all the other great material all the linked blogs have!

Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Man Who Took Massive Carbon Pollution Spewing Trip Vetoes Anti-Climate Change Bills

The cost to the American taxpayer for the Obama’s 2014 Hawaii Christmas vacation was over $3.6 million in transportation costs alone. That doesn’t even cover the cost for all the Secret Service security and their lodgings, nor the cost to the local and state security forces, nor the cost for all the fossil fueled vehicles. But, does this mean anything in the face of ‘Climate change”? To take this trip required two fossil fueled jumbo jets, with multiple military fighter jets accompanying them. Since he decided to do a fly-by in San Bernardino, to make it appear as if he Actually Cared, this required a large fossil fueled vehicle convoy. Then this convoy was again used in Hawaii. Then the cost of all the energy and water used in Hawaii at the palatial estate he and the family are staying at. Remember, Obama’s Earth Day trip to Florida put out 5 times more “carbon pollution” than the average American does all year. Golfing? Bad for climate change. Eating all that imported food in Hawaii? Bad for climate change. Then there’s this

(CBS News) President Barack Obama has vetoed two measures that would have blocked steps that his administration is taking to address climate change.

One would have nullified carbon pollution standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA requires the power sector to slash its carbon output by 32 percent by the year 2030.

The second would have voided a set of national standards designed to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas pollution from existing power plants.

In a letter notifying Congress of his decision, the president said climate change is a “profound threat” that must be addressed.

Of course, since Obama is super-busy taking all these fossil fueled trips, he didn’t actually sign the veto. Oh, no, golf was calling, so he used a pocket veto, where he just ignored the legislation for 10 days while Congress was in adjournment, which vetoed it. Seriously, for Obama, what better way is there for him than a measure which requires him to take no action?

Both those Obama executive actions will increase the cost of energy, which will increase the cost of living. Not that this will bother the 1%ers like the Obamas. Fortunately, the squishy Republicans under Paul Ryan will do….nothing to stop Captain Carbon Footprint.

Meanwhile, Warmists were very upset that there were no questions about ‘climate change’ during the debate. No, not the GOP debate, the Democrat debate

Saturday’s Democratic presidential debate began with a question about the ongoingcontroversy over a breach in the Democratic National Committee’s voter database and ended with a question about the changing role of a president’s spouse. In between, ABC News’ David Muir and Martha Raddatz steered the candidates through several substantive issues, from ISIS to taxes to Black Lives Matter. There was one major topic, though, they failed to ask about: climate change.

The only brief mentions of global warming during the entire night came during Bernie Sanders’ opening statement and Martin O’Malley’s closing one, and both of those were largely throwaway lines. “I’m running because we need to address the planetary crisis of climate change and take on the fossil fuel industry and transform our energy system away from fossil fuel to energy efficiency and sustainable energy,” Sanders said at the start of the debate. “The other big challenge we have is climate change,” O’Malley said more than two hours later.

Warmists all over had a collective meltdown over this failure. Of course, had they discussed it, would anyone have seen it, being on a Saturday night, with lots of college and pro football on the TV, and, just being Saturday night? I wonder what the carbon footprint of the Obama/Clinton creation ISIS works out to be?

Miami Will Totally Be Inundated By Tiny Amounts Of CO2

Another day, another scary photoshop of a city disappearing into the sea

Here’s the 2030 Miami Skyline Photoshopped to Account for Dramatic Sea Level Rise and it’s Horrifying

Yesterday we posted a Visualhouse rendering projecting the 2030 Miami skyline.

Curbed commenter Erik Botsford put his Photoshop skills to use and revealedwhat a 2030 Miami skyline would look like with a dramatic and depressing rise in sea level, with Biscayne Bay engulfing Downtown Miami and its surrounding buildings, like the American Airlines Arena. Here is an overlay of the two images.

To see the overlay, you’ll have to hit the link, because of the type of graphic. Here’s what it looks like in the after

I’m figuring that we’re talking about at least 25 feet of sea rise, possibly more, probably more, to bury everything as portrayed. And, certainly, they aren’t the only ones who’ve done this, nor the only ones speaking out with apocalyptic prognostications.

What does the data say? Despite an overall projection by the NOAA, the very limited data from Miami Beach, which ran from 1931-1981, shows just 2.39mm of sea rise per year, meaning .78 feet per century. The nearest monitoring stations are Vaca Key, which shows 3.34mm year, so 1.10 feet over 100 years (well within the norms for a Holocene warm period), and Lake Worth Pier, which is so short on measurements as to be worthless. Mayport, north of Miami, is one of the best, since measurements started in 1928, and go through 2014. It shows 2.5mm  year.

Interestingly, for all the hysteria, no one really seems to have any hard data on sea rise in the Miami area since 1981. If you can find it, let me know. Everything seems to be projections, where the curve is added to create a projection of 6 feet of sea rise, adding to the ending point of 1981 of the NOAA data. Where are the satellite data sets? Where are the hard direct measurements?

Oh, then we get this

Projections for sea-level rise are all over the place but barring some unforeseen variable or climatic disaster, our seas obviously won’t be rising thisquickly. Nonetheless it’s a scary sight. If this website does not exist tomorrow, assume Rick Scott had it terminated.

Oh. So, they throw out scary prognostications, then walk them back. Really, it will take at least 700 years to achieve 6 feet of sea rise. This isn’t a science, it is a political cult.

Warmist: “Maybe someday I will relate to my grandchildren what snow was like”

Here we go, another “snow is just a thing of the past”, as written by Warmist Sonya Diehn

Opinion: White winters another victim of climate change

I remember well my first winter in Germany: it was cold, so cold. Living in Leipzig at the time, I was astounded to see people skiing along the forest path on the stretch of park I typically biked through to get downtown.

My second German winter was also harsh. By then in Bonn, I established my own personal limit of 0 degrees Celsius for bike-riding.

Since I am originally from the desert of southern Arizona, German winters took some getting used to.

I was enchanted with how snow transformed the drab surroundings into a “winter wonderland.” One of my friends in Bonn had become a sledding enthusiast – she had so much fun, that I bought myself a used sled that spring at a flea market.

But the snow hasn’t come again.

It’s now three years in a row that snow hasn’t stuck on the ground here in Bonn for more than a few hours.

Not really. Seems her memory is a bit off. Perhaps she should read her own paper. There are other sources for snowfall over the past three winters. Europe overall has seen much harsher winters over the past 7 years. But, hey, maybe there hasn’t been as much snow, but Germans have been forced to rely on wood pellets and heater stoves over the past few very cold winters to heat their homes, living like it’s 1499, because of Warmist governmental “green” rules.

In many places around the world, this winter is on track to be the warmest on record. Globally, the winter before had been the warmest on record until this year.

And next year could continue to break records – because the planet is warming. Since pre-industrial times, average global temperature has increased by about a degree Celsius.

Two important points. A miniscule rise of around 1.5F is small, compared to previous Holocene warm periods. Second, nothing she writes proves anthropogenic causation. And that is where the rubber meets the road. If you cannot prove the hypothesis, it means nothing, other than that some people are overly hysterical.

Last week, while covering the climate summit in Paris, at one point I was struck with the absurdity: How can people negotiate the temperature of the planet?

Yeah, that’s my thought too, but, in a different way.

Negotiating the climate is not only absurd, it’s astoundingly arrogant. Innumerable species and human lives hang in the balance. If the global community were to truly take responsibility, we’d stop burning fossil fuels this very moment.

Maybe someday I will relate to my grandchildren what snow was like.

Obama Lists His Top 10 Favorite Things For 2015

This is his David Letterman list. No, really. This is how he uses his weekly address

Hi, everybody. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Not just for spreading holiday cheer – but also for list makers. You’ve got wish lists; Santa’s list; and of course, a blizzard of year-in-review lists. So I decided to get in on the action.

As a nation, we face big challenges. But in the spirit of 2015 retiree David Letterman, here – in no particular order – are my top 10 things that happened in 2015 that should make every American optimistic about 2016.

What are they?

Number ten: The economy. Over the past 12 months, our businesses have created 2.5 million new jobs. In all, they’ve added 13.7 million new jobs over a 69-month streak of job growth. And the unemployment rate has fallen to 5 percent – the lowest it’s been in almost eight years.

The number of people who have dropped out of the jobs market in despair is at a historic high. Jobs for those 18-25 are barely existent. Black unemployment is also at historic highs. Wages have been stagnant. The kinds of jobs being created are low wage, often service and base retail ones, and often part-time.

Number nine: More Americans are getting health coverage. The rate of the uninsured in America dropped below 10 percent for the first time ever. In all, 17.6 million people and climbing have gained coverage as the Affordable Care Act has taken effect.

Yet, a goodly chunk cannot afford to pay the deductibles to use this insurance that many are forced to purchase. If you buy car insurance, and cannot afford to pay the deductible to fix the car, what do you actually have?

Number eight: America’s global leadership on climate change. Last week, in Paris, nearly 200 countries came together to set the course for a low-carbon future. And it was only possible because America led with clean energy here at home and strong diplomacy around the world.

This one gave me the morning giggles. What he’s really saying is his leadership. And his leadership led to an agreement that is non-binding, voluntary, and has no force of law. Furthermore, he will never submit this agreement for ratification by the Legislative branch. Doesn’t say much about the agreement nor his leadership.

Number seven: Progress in the Americas. We turned the page on an outdated, half-century old policy by re-establishing diplomatic relations with Cuba and reopening embassies in both our countries, allowing us to build greater ties between Americans and Cubans.

Perhaps Mr. Obama should ask an actual Cuban dissident, as published by the Washington Post Editorial Board.

Number six: Preventing the spread of nuclear weapons. We succeeded in forging a strong deal to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. In fact, Iran has already dismantled thousands of centrifuges that enrich uranium.

You mean the deal that simply kicks Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions down the road, sorta signed by a regime that has violated sanctions twice in the past few months? One that will allow Iran to restrict inspectors from inspecting? That one?

Number five: Standing strong against terrorism. Even as we continue to grieve over the attack in San Bernardino, we’re leading a global coalition and hitting ISIL harder than ever. In Syria and Iraq, ISIL is losing territory, and we’re not going to stop until we destroy this terrorist organization.

Absurd. Just absurd.

Number four: A 21st century trade deal that makes sure our businesses can sell goods “Made in America” across the Asia-Pacific.

Even a bunch of Democrats were against this, notably Bernie Sanders. It really isn’t that good for the American worker, and when Bernie Sanders quite a bit of sense, yikes!

Number three: A pair of Christmas miracles in Washington! This week, Congress passed a bipartisan budget that invests in middle-class priorities, keeps our military the strongest in the world, and takes the threat of shutdowns and manufactured crises off the table for 2016. Plus, I signed a bipartisan education bill into law to help our students graduate prepared for college and their future careers.

Fortunately, those students will have no jobs, since they will be taken by illegal aliens and imported foreign workers, thanks to the deal, so the students can spend more time getting an education!

Number two: Love won. No matter who you are, here in America, you’re free to marry the person you love, because the freedom to marry is now the law in all fifty states.

So, Obama just gave the green light for bigamy, polygamy, and child marriage. Hey, love is love, right? BTW, it’s not actually “the law”, it’s a court ruling that overruled State laws and constitutional amendments.

And the number one reason I’m optimistic going into 2016: It’s you—the American people. All of this progress is because of you—because of workers rolling up their sleeves and getting the job done, and entrepreneurs starting new businesses. Because of teachers and health workers and parents—all of us taking care of each other. Because of our incredible men and women in uniform, serving to protect us all. Because, when we’re united as Americans, there’s nothing that we cannot do.

Interesting. This guy is the most divisive president in history. He works hard to isolate and demean his political opponents.

Bummer: Satellite Data For North And South Poles Contradict Warmist Beliefs

Sorry about your cult. Be a real shame if something happened to it (via Climate Depot)

(kenskingdom) UAH v6.0 (University of Alabama Huntsville satellite) data for November were released a couple of days ago. Here are updated graphs for various regions showing the furthest back one can go to show a zero or negative trend (less than +0.01C/ 100 years) in lower tropospheric temperatures. For the second month of the climb towards the El Nino peak, there is still NO pause in the Northern Hemisphere trend. However, in some regions the pause has lengthened. Note: The satellite record commences in December 1978. The entire satellite record is now 37 years long- 444 months.

The chart, which you can see at either link (I’m doing this post on smartphone), shows a zero trend going back 18 years and 6 months for overall warming, though it does look like there will be some warming in the coming months, thanks to the El Nino conditions. I know, I know, Warmists will screech about “cherry picking”, since they obviously a) have no idea that the data is working backwards from current time (Skeptics will understand that there was warming going from about 1979-1996), or b) intentionally obtuse and deceitful in decrying the actual data.

Here’s where it gets really fun. For the North Polar region, there is a zero or negative trend for the last 13 years and 10 months.

The South Pole? A whopping 37 years of zero or negative trend. 37 years. Let’s not forget, we were originally told that satellites were the best available way to measure warming. Which still wouldn’t prove anthropogenic causation, but, hey, they thought they had something going. Then, the actual data from the satellites failed to comply.

Obama’s Super New ISIS Strategy: More Theater!

Look, on one hand, I do not want to totally slam Obama: despite his talking points and apparent lack of interest in fighting Islamic terrorism, he has done an OK job. Heck, he personally picks targets for drone strikes, and has expanded the areas in the Middle East and Africa in which we go after Islamic terrorists. The problem occurs in that we do not really know what he thinks about it, and whether he really cares. Surely, a lot goes on behind the scenes that we do not know about, much like with the Bush 43 administration. Obama, though, gives the appearance that this whole danger is inconvenient, and that he isn’t really interested. He sounds the same way I sound when people get me in a discussion of basketball, or their favorite college football team. I really do not care about either. But, basketball is quite a bit less important than anti-jihad (via Twitchy)

https://twitter.com/charlescwcooke/status/677830086247243776

Read that again

Acknowledging privately that he flubbed his initial response to the Paris attacks, Obama’s aides are hoping to add more theater to his counterterrorism response. The actual strategy isn’t changing much. But with White House aides saying they feel that Americans are more worried about the immediate threat of terrorism in the wake of Paris and San Bernadino than at any point since 9/11, there will be more events like Obama’s visits to the Pentagon and the National Counterterrorism Center this week — meetings that would likely be happening anyway, but that will be deliberately pushed into public view, with the president making sure to speak more passionately himself.

Another problem is that we’ve seen and heard Obama all these years, and he really doesn’t seem to care that much. But, this is his job.

Warmists: Non-Voluntary Investments Required To Solve Hotcoldwetdry Conundrum

Another day, another demand by the Cult of Climastrology. Remember, these are people who somehow believe that mandating companies comply and join in on carbon credit and tax and cap schemes run by government as “free market principles”. Now we see, as written by Mika Anttone, Founder and Chair of Finnish energy company St1 (I wonder if he has a financial stake in pushing this?)

IOS Is The Answer To The Climate-Change Conundrum

During the next 20 years, global demand for energy will grow by approximately 30%. The two main reasons for this are the continuously high population growth rate and the raising of the standard of living in developing countries. Today, about 80% of the world’s primary energy is generated from fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal). Because the known energy investments used to satisfy the global demand for energy will not change the current energy production structure, the CO2 emissions will continue to grow at the same rate as the demand for energy. This is a fact that must be recognized and acknowledged in climate policy so that we can find the correct means to achieve sustainable development.

So, what to do, what to do

The majority of the world’s population — about four billion people — is living on less than five euros a day. In the global economic system, their quest to raise their standard of living cannot be prevented. Instead, we can develop new sustainable means to produce energy so that raising the standard of living of these people is not solely based on the utilization of fossil energy. The work to reduce population growth must be set as a priority for international cooperation. The single most effective measure is to improve the position of women in developing economies.

Funny how Warmists so often promote limiting population in 3rd World nations.

Regarding the production of renewable energy, we must utilize research and development to discover entirely new solutions that enable replacing fossil fuels at a sufficient scale. This goal can be achieved only if the largest companies of the world are fully committed to participate in this work and use their resources in the best possible way. Because adequate levels of research and development efforts cannot be reached voluntarily, an Investment Obligation System (IOS) for renewable energy is required. Global system should be ultimate goal, but realistically, an area like the EU could be a reasonable start.

Every company producing or selling fossil energy in the EU has to comply with IOS. In cases where the same fossil energy is sold multiple times in the value chain, IOS applies only to the first company in the chain, thus ensuring actual investments in production capacity. IOS governs companies not Member States. The base level for IOS is the annual average amount of fossil energy to be produced or sold by a company during 2018-2020.

And there it is: a government dominated and run economy to uphold the principles of the Hotcoldwetdry crowd. Some would call this Socialism, and, if we look at the primary tenant of the political model, it would be, especially if the Government also owns much of the means of production. We could call it Communism. Not the political theory type, but the type in practice by many countries, and previous ones like the USSR. How’d that work out, including for real environmental concerns. Many would term this Fascism, with all private entities working for and controlled by government. Regardless, this is all a scheme to increase the power of government, using the manufactured notion of anthropogenic climate change as one of the rationales.

Companies that do not comply will face stiff penalties. The article notes that “The penalty level should be sufficient enough to force the company out of business.” So, not only will Government mandate compliance with all Cult of Climastrology beliefs, but should be driven out of business by government for having the wrong thoughts. Naomi Klein and a few other Warmists have been among the minority in saying that the entire world economic system needs to be changed away from capitalism in order to solve ‘climate change’. More and more are coming forth with their, let’s just refer to them as a command economy, beliefs.
