This is a new one, coming from uber-Cult of Climastrology, and very far left, site Triple Pundit
Climate Change is Natural? And That Doesn’t Freak You Out?
In what now appears to be a regular habit, Gallup just surveyed a thousand-odd U.S. adults on their views on climate change. Overall, 49 percent of those surveyed attributed climate change to human activity while 46 percent blamed “natural†causes.
In a not-so-surprising but certainly fearful asymmetry, 72 percent of democrats but only 27 percent of republicans attributed climate change to human activity. Young adults: 61 percent human-caused, 38 percent natural; Older adults: 39 percent human-caused, 54 percent natural. This dichotomy in “beliefs†pervades other areas of scientific knowledge and splits states along political and demographic lines, as evident from the red-state-blue-state correlations in the maps above. (snip)
What I want to get at is this: If one indeed believes that climate change is natural, should that not be far scarier than if it were human-caused?
Perhaps if the Earth was heading back into a glacial age, but, a minor increase in global temperatures, less than during previous Holocene warm periods, is not particularly concerning. The article goes on to tell us about how doom-worthy this natural Hotcoldwetdry is, and why everyone who thinks it is mostly/solely natural should be freaking out, which leads to
As we sit here watching this natural climate change unfold, with glaciers melting everywhere and the arctic warming at twice the rate of the rest of the globe, there is no remedy, nothing to do and no other planet to take refuge in. The expected damage from droughts and floods and sea-level rise could devastate economies — particularly of already fragile nations — and send refugees scattering around the globe to safer ground. But if it is, as the climate scientists seem to suggest, just a matter of carbon in the atmosphere, there are ways — even at this late juncture — to fight this thing. Oil is not going to last forever anyway, and everybody hates the pollution from coal (just ask the Chinese). So it may, after all, be a good thing to innovate our way out of this climate problem. And is innovation not the lifeblood of the American economy? And here we have the opportunity to transform everything we do through brand new technologies!
So, it seems to me that meeting this natural climate variation that is heading our way with sanguine resignation locks us into economic stasis — frozen in place by the warming. I wonder what drives those who hold on to the “it’s natural†theory, the 70 percent of republicans and 54 percent of older Americans? It cannot be the fear that I feel at contemplating an unexplained, inexorable natural warming. Can it be fear of change?
So, even if it is mostly/solely natural, it still means we should spend enormous amounts of taxpayer money, increase taxation, put more and more people under the power of the central government. Why does every solution revolve around these?
As for fear of change, Republicans have been advocates for wise policies on developing alternatives that work, rather than flinging money to splatter against the wall like a monkey flinging poo in their enclosures. But, yes, we do fear quite a bit of what the Warmists are pushing, because it is about centralized authoritarian government, which will further degrade our lives.

Salon is one of the main websites to head to when you want to see what the nutter Democratic Party base really thinks. Er, feels. Every once in a while, they unintentionally land on a real truth. In this case, how bad the education system is. Obviously, they fail to assign blame, which lands almost entirely upon the Democratic Party. Poll after poll after poll, article after article, protest after protest, they all show that the vast majority of teachers vote Democrat. Sure, not all of them are the nutters creating songs about Obama and forcing students to do exercises that make them “understand radical Islam”, and aren’t freaking out about water pistols and finger pistols, but, they vote Democrat. Their unions are chock full of the more hardcore Progressives, which vote Democrat. And we end up with this, where the subhead is the actual meat of the article
We let the idiots take the wheel: Donald Trump, Fox News and how we let our democracy rot
Disgraceful state of politics is tied to collapse of education. Philistines are marching, swarming Trump ralliesIt is easy in a country dedicated to a megalomaniacal style of self-praise to grow tired of all the parades, hymns, and maudlin speeches about the wisdom of the “founding fathers.†Compounding the frustration is that many of their most valuable insights are now forbidden from entry into public school curriculums and cultural discourse. As the word “elitist†continues to undergo unfair demonization, no one dare utter that the framers of the United States Constitution were, themselves, elitists. They were terrified of what damage the public might inflict upon their invention. Benjamin Franklin even went so far as to predict that “the people shall become so corrupted as to need Despotic Government, being incapable of any other.â€
The author, David Masciotra, proves that we do need a better education system, since that Ben Franklin quote is used out of context, and doesn’t mean what he thinks it means. The full quote, along with Franklin’s full writing, actually shows what happens with the type of politics and policies Dems push.
In the current circus posing as a political campaign, commentators and candidates waste much of their time and energy frothing about insignificant issues and phony crises. Donald Trump, with all the eloquence and brilliance of a barroom belch, has introduced illegal immigration into the political debate, often claiming that it is one of the reasons that America is “going to hell.†Trump has failed to make a deal with reality, as it stubbornly refuses to submit to his paranoia. Illegal immigrants comprise a mere 3.5 percent of the American population, and from 2009 to 2014, more Mexicans left the United States than entered it. If trends continue, Trump’s “big, beautiful wall†will keep more Mexicans in the country than it keeps out.
Meanwhile, the cowardly obsession surrounding “Islamic terrorism†continues to play out like a scene of absurdist theater. Tragedies and atrocities, like recent bombings in Brussels and Pakistan, demand sympathy for mourners and vigilance toward the perpetrators, but standard methods of statistical evaluation demonstrate that an American has a one in 4 million chance of dying in a terrorist attack. The average American is more likely to drown in the bathtub.
Yes, Democrats are more concerned with forcing compliance with allowing the gender confused to be allowed to use whichever bathroom they feel like using, rather than all the myriad issues surround illegal aliens and Islamic radicalism (even though the LGBT community is treated far, far worse by Islam). And bathtubs do not intentionally attempt to kill us. This all shows the poor education system
Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, far from a radical, co-chaired a task force on education reform in 2010, and in her scathing conclusion, labeled the decline of public schools so calamitous that it constitutes a “long term national security threat.â€
In a more recent speech at Stanford University, where Rice is now a professor, she stated truths so obvious they would need amplification only in a country routinely neglectful of its educational system: “Failing schools undermine economic growth, social cohesion, and the ability to fill positions in institutions vital to national security.â€
An advanced degree in sociology is not mandatory for finding evidence confirming Rice’s bleak forecast of America’s ignorant future. Two-thirds of Americans cannot name a single Supreme Court justice, and half are incapable of identifying all three branches of government. Forty-two percent of the public does not believe in evolutionary biology, while 24 percent believe that the sun orbits the earth.
Nearly a quarter of Americans read below the fifth-grade level, which helps to explain why only 29 percent read a newspaper, and why 24 percent of Americans do not read even one book a year.
Of course, the article goes on to bash Trump and his supporters, but, fails to note who runs the education system. The problems can be laid almost entirely at the feet of the Democratic Party. They aren’t particularly worried about education, they are attempting to create good little Democrats, everywhere from standard liberals to frothing at the mouth Progressives, Socialists, and Marxists. They’re the ones pushing kids to get worthless degrees, typically ones that end in “studies”, which have little to no value as a marketable skill, and are even detrimental, as employers will look at the degrees, along with what the Snowflakes did in college, and decide that the person will bring more trouble then they are worth, and even be a threat for a lawsuit.
If they cannot name a SCOTUS justice, if they do not know the three branches of government, if they are missing lots knowledge, whose fault is that? Do not look towards Republicans. We do not own the system.

You thought the border was pretty bad, did you? You thought Obama’s illegal alien executive orders were bad, did you? You probably did not think they were this bad
(Washington Times) Border Patrol agents have been ordered to release dripping-wet illegal immigrants at the Rio Grande unless they actually see them climbing out of the river, creating what amounts to “an open border with Mexico,†the chief of the agents’ labor union told Congress in new testimony last week.
Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, told the House Judiciary Committee that agents were given the orders verbally soon after President Obama laid out plans for limiting immigration enforcement in 2014.
“We have apprehended illegal aliens just north of the border who are still soaking wet from crossing the river. If they claim, as increasingly they are doing, that they have been here since January 1, 2014, we will process and then release them,†Mr. Judd said in written testimony following up on questions from a hearing earlier this year.
“They are still wet from the river and miles from any civilization and on their word alone we release them unless we physically saw them cross the river,†he said. “This policy de facto creates an open border with Mexico for any illegal alien who wants to claim that they were here before 2014.â€
The January 1, 2014 date comes from Obama’s executive orders regarding illegal aliens, designed to give a de-facto extra-legal amnesty, and the illegals have learned to game the system. In a sane world, these illegals would be trotted back to the border and sent across immediately. Instead, not only are they not being held for deportation hearings, they are simply being let go if a simple fingerprinting and background check shows no criminal issues.
It matters not a bit whether the illegal is a good person who will work hard and just wants a better life. The very fact is that they are here illegally, will be a drain on our systems, and should have done it the legal way by applying for either a work visa or citizenship. Instead, they will agitate and demand to be legalized, all while demanding that US citizens speak their language, give them stuff, and calling illegal alien opponents bigots, racists, and other nasty things. Then you have those who steal guns and shoot citizens. And drag race and kill citizens. Burglarize them. Steal their identities. Cause misery for citizens.

Happy Sunday! A gorgeous Spring day…if you live in Minnesota. Brrr! This pinup is by Bill Medcalf, with a wee bit of help.
What is happening in Ye Olde Blogosphere? The Fine 15
As always, the full set of pinups can be seen in the Patriotic Pinup category, or over at my Gallery page. While we are on pinups, since it is that time of year, have you gotten your “Pinups for Vets†calendar yet? And don’t forget to check out what I declare to be our War on Women Rule 5 and linky luv posts and things that interest me
Don’t forget to check out all the other great material all the linked blogs have!
Anyone else have a link or hotty-fest going on? Let me know so I can add you to the list. (BTW, since someone asked, the reason I leave links for the previous week up (or you might see a *) is because they are place holders for later in the day or for next weeks. Easier than rewriting all the time. Also, the listing order has to do with how they are added over time, not how good a post is. I just copy and paste from the previous week, then edit. If you see one of the *’s, go ahead and check out the blog anyhow, see if there is an update. I cannot update with my Android during the day.

Many, many Warmists have agitated to go after climate skeptics for their heretical belief that Mankind is not responsible for the majority of the minimal global warming since 1850 (or whatever date they choose to attempt to prop up their cult). Sitting elected officials like Sheldon Whitehouse. Former ones like Al Gore. A man running for president, Bernie Sanders, published as his official platform that he will “Bring climate deniers to justice”, a tyrannical view of the government. The examples of this assault on personal belief, science, and the First Amendment are continuous and breathtaking. Now comes this
Virgin Islands AG Begins Persecution Of Climate Change Skeptics… https://t.co/2WuuN3XJk5
— Weasel Zippers (@weaselzippers) April 9, 2016
That tweet leads to the Independent Sentinel, which reminds us
If you recall former Vice President and global warming guru Al Gore and 16 Attorneys General, calling themselves the “AGs United for Clean Powerâ€, announced at a press conference last week that they will criminalize climate change denial by corporations. This is meant to squelch dissent and free speech.
The first volley was lobbed by the US Attorney General for the Virgin Islands, one of the sixteen, and he is going after a powerful think tank, Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI). Are they our new thought police?
Interestingly, the US Virgin Islands rely heavily on fossil fuels to bring tourists and goods on airplanes and ships.
CEI released this statement
Attack on Free Speech Is Abuse and Intimidation
The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) today denounced a subpoena from Attorney General Claude E. Walker of the U.S. Virgin Islands that attempts to unearth a decade of the organization’s materials and work on climate change policy. This is the latest effort in an intimidation campaign to criminalize speech and research on the climate debate, led by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and former Vice President Al Gore.
“CEI will vigorously fight to quash this subpoena. It is an affront to our First Amendment rights of free speech and association for Attorney General Walker to bring such intimidating demands against a nonprofit group,†said CEI General Counsel Sam Kazman. “If Walker and his allies succeed, the real victims will be all Americans, whose access to affordable energy will be hit by one costly regulation after another, while scientific and policy debates are wiped out one subpoena at a time.â€
The subpoena requests a decade’s worth of communications, emails, statements, drafts, and other documents regarding CEI’s work on climate change and energy policy, including private donor information. It demands that CEI produce these materials from 20 years ago, from 1997-2007, by April 30, 2016.
On March 30, 2016, Attorney General Schneiderman, former Vice President Al Gore, and attorneys general from Massachusetts, Virginia, Connecticut, Maryland, Vermont, as well as Attorney General Walker, held a press conference in New York City to announce “an unprecedented coalition of top law enforcement officials committed to aggressively protecting and building upon the recent progress the United States has made in combating climate change.â€Â Schneiderman said that the group, calling itself “AGs United for Clean Power,†will address climate change by threatening criminal investigations and charges against companies, policy organizations, scientists, and others who disagree with its members’ climate policy agenda.
CEI has long been a champion of sound climate change policy, and opposed previous attempts to use McCarthy-style tactics by officials aiming to limit discussions between nonprofit policy groups and the private sector regarding federal policies. CEI is being represented in this matter by attorneys Andrew M. Grossman and David B. Rivkin, Jr., who recently founded the Free Speech in Science Project to defend First Amendment rights against government abuses.
As Sarah Noble at the Independent Sentinel notes “This is particularly shocking because they are going after a think tank, not an oil or gas company. Think about that!” But, should we be shocked? This is the direction of the Cult of Climastrology, which is made up primarily of Progressives (nice fascists), and, despite their calls for tolerance, diversity, and multiculturalism, they are wholly intolerant of any belief, fact, and opinion that doesn’t jibe 100% with theirs, and are willing to use abusive tactics, tactics they decry when others use them, to get their way. They will use the power of government as one method.
Interestingly, they still cannot prove that the miminal warming during the Modern Warm Period has been caused mostly/solely by Mankind, nor will the majority of Warmists give up their own use of fossil fuels and make their lives carbon neutral.

Earth Is Tipping Because of Climate Change
Melting ice and shifting rain patterns are causing the north and south poles to driftThe north pole is on the run. Although it can drift as much as 10 meters across a century, sometimes returning to near its origin, it has recently taken a sharp turn to the east. Climate change is the likely culprit, yet scientists are debating how much melting ice or changing rain patterns affect the pole’s wanderlust.
The geographical poles—the north and south tips of the axis that the Earth spins around—wobble over time due to small variations in the sun’s and moon’s pulls, and potentially to motion in Earth’s core and mantle. But changes on the planet’s surface can alter the poles, too. They wobble with every season as the distribution of snow and rain change, and over long stretches as well. Roughly 10,000 years ago, for example, Earth woke up from a deep freeze and the massive ice sheets sitting atop what is now Canada melted. As ice mass fled, and the depressed crust rebounded, the distribution of the planet’s mass changed and the north pole started to drift west. This pattern can be clearly seen in data from 1899 onward. But a recent zigzag in the north pole’s path (and the opposite movement in the south pole) suggests a new change is afoot.
So, it’s happened before, but, hey, this time it’s different
The data do not indicate whether the recent climate changes are man-made, but Chen personally believes the drastic shift in the pole has to be the result of human activities. Meanwhile Ivins thinks he will be able to tease man-made climate change from the data in another six months or so.
Got that? There’s no proof of anthropogenic causation, but, one Believes, and the other will surely manufacture the end result to show anthropogenic causation. This leads to the article blaming Mankind. This is what Warmists call science these days.
