Warmists Pretty Upset That Less Fortunate Are Getting Air Conditioning

The Cult of Climastrology has long held a deep seated hatred for air conditioning, though few are willing to give it up themselves. They always expect it to be restricted for people in Third World Nations. It’s the typical liberal “do as I say, not as I do”. The world is about to install 700 million air conditioners. Here’s what that means for the climate

As summer temperatures finally settle in, many in the United States take it for granted that they can dial down the thermostat: Americans use 5 percent of all of their electricity cooling homes and buildings. In many other countries, however — including countries in much hotter climates — air conditioning is still a relative rarity. But as these countries boom in wealth and population, and extend electricity to more people even as the climate warms, the projections are clear: They are going to install mind-boggling amounts of air conditioning, not just for comfort but as a health necessity.

That’s already happened in some places. In just 15 years, urban areas of China went from just a few percentage points of air conditioning penetration to exceeding 100 percent — “i.e. more than one room air conditioner (AC) per urban household,” according to a recent report on the global AC boom by researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. And air conditioner sales are now increasing in India, Indonesia and Brazil by between 10 and 15 percent per year, the research noted. India, a nation of 1.25 billion people, had just 5 percent air conditioning penetration in the year 2011.

A study last year similarly found “a close relationship between household income and air conditioner adoption, with ownership increasing 2.7 percentage points per $1,000 of annual household income.” For Mexico in particular, it therefore projected a stupendous growth of air conditioning over the 21st century, from 13 percent of homes having it  to 71 to 81 percent of homes.

Growth of wealth. Awesome! We should be happy about this, right? Right?

In most ways, of course, this is a very good thing: Protecting people from intense heat — a town in India this month saw temperatures exceed 123 degrees Fahrenheit — is essential for their health and well-being. It’s just that it’s going to come with a huge energy demand, and potentially huge carbon emissions to boot.

How dare these people use energy! But, they have a solution

To try to address this problem, Moniz’s department is participating in the Advanced Cooling Challenge, which is to be launched Thursday in San Francisco at the 7th Clean Energy Ministerial, a global meeting of national energy policy leaders. The goal will be to find creative solutions to lessen the energy and climate impact of an unstoppable trend toward more global air conditioning — by making air conditioners much more energy efficient, and also less dependent on HFCs or hydrofluorocarbons as refrigerants, because these substances themselves act as an extremely powerful greenhouse gas in the atmosphere.

Now, see, there is nothing wrong with looking towards more energy efficiency. Most companies that make cooling units look to do this, due to consumer demand. And, from an environmental standpoint, which doesn’t include ‘climate change’, looking for alternatives to HFCs is a good idea. However, what we’ve seen from these same Warmists are proposals to increase costs significantly, which would price the lower income folks in the country and around the world from being able to afford cooling. And heating. They’ve advocated for blocking the usage and sales of A/C, along with replacing the refrigerants with really, really expensive gases. Warmists care little about the people their policies harm. Yet, strangely, the same Warmists will not give up their own A/C.

That all said, the article is less bat guano insane than normal, and recommends more research and development. That would be a good thing, even for just saving energy, saving us all money. Of course, Warmists also want to dramatically increase the cost of energy, so….

Under Hillary, there were many international messes created thanks to the policies of the Obama administration and herself. Honduras, Haiti, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, and Ukraine are just a few of note. How’d that Russian “reset” work out? Relations are poor with Israel, Poland, and Britain, among others. Then there’s that horrific Iran deal, for which Hillary takes credit. Yet, Donald is the problem? Hillary Clinton to Portray Donald Trump’s Foreign Policy Positions as Dangerous

Hillary Clinton plans to deliver a scorching assessment of Donald J. Trump’s foreign policy prescriptions on Thursday, casting her likely Republican rival as a threat to decades of bipartisan tenets of American diplomacy and declaring him unfit for the presidency.

Mrs. Clinton’s campaign aides said the speech, which she will deliver in San Diego, would be the start of a persistent assault to portray a potential Trump presidency as a dangerous proposition that would weaken American alliances and embolden enemies.

The argument will include specific criticism of comments Mr. Trump has made about rethinking the United States’s support of NATO; his proposal to allow Japan, South Korea and Saudi Arabia to acquire nuclear weapons; his vow to temporarily bar Muslims from entering the United States; and his pledge to advance the use of torture and kill the families of suspected terrorists.

I’m not saying that Trump is necessarily wise or has thoughtful policies, but, a SCOAMF as Secretary of State like Clinton shouldn’t exactly be throwing stones. Heck, even uber-Leftist Salon thinks her foreign policy record is a disaster. And, isn’t being Secretary of State all about foreign policy?

But Mrs. Clinton will also invoke her experiences as secretary of state, including in 2011 when she supported President Obama’s decision to send Navy SEALs on a raid in Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden, to make the case that Mr. Trump does not have the temperament to make such decisions.

Supporting someone else’s policies is not an achievement. Just because you supported a sports team which won a championship doesn’t mean you were part of making it happen. Meanwhile, ISIS exploded on the scene under her watch, and Islamic terrorism spread exponentially.

While Mrs. Clinton must be cautious not to alienate liberal Democrats who oppose some of her hawkish foreign policy stances, her campaign says national security could be the catalyst that drives independents and wavering Republicans to support her this fall.

It might if she wasn’t a disaster on foreign policy. It might if she was going against a Republican (in the case of Trump, Republican should be in quotation marks) who was afraid to attack. Trump? He’ll lay into her with shot after shot after shot.

And in the article

In an interview Wednesday night, Mr. Trump criticized Mrs. Clinton’s early support for the Iraq war, which he said he opposed, and questioned her judgment in Libya. “Bernie Sanders said it and I’m going to use it all over the place because it’s true,” Mr. Trump said. “She is a woman who is ill-suited to be president because she has bad judgment.”

You can expect Trump to hit back hard, especially right after Hillary’s speech, and you can bet that the media will be salivating to cover it.

ACLU Leader Resigns Over Gender Confused Policies

I’ve said and written many times that Liberals are super supportive of letting biological men who feel (or pretend) they are women into bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms with Other Peoples daughters, wives, and girlfriends. When it’s their own, well, things often change

(Life Site News) The African-American woman who leads a state chapter of the ACLU has resigned, citing her own daughters’ “frightened” reaction to biological males using the women’s restroom.

The organization’s increasing focus on legislating the transgender lobby’s concerns pushed Maya Dillard Smith, interim director of the Georgia chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, to tender her resignation.

“I have shared my personal experience of having taken my elementary school age daughters into a women’s restroom when shortly after three transgender young adults, over six feet [tall] with deep voices, entered,” she wrote.

“My children were visibly frightened, concerned about their safety and left asking lots of questions for which I, like many parents, was ill-prepared to answer,” she continued.

In a statement, she said that the ACLU has become “a special interest organization that promotes not all, but certain progressive rights.”

And there it is: Progressivism/Liberalism so often breaks down when it is themselves as the recipients of the problems they themselves create (next time you meet a Bernie supporter, ask them how much money they have in their pocket, and to give you half). It’s certainly one thing when a transgender who actually looks the part, as in, you cannot tell that they are the opposite sex goes into the opposite biological bathroom, and no one notices. It’s quite another when you can easily tell. Which means the gentleman were just feeling it but not doing anything for real, or they were taking advantage of idiotic, dangerous Leftist policies.

And this was just a bathroom, where everyone goes into stalls. What of when women are exposed to them in changing rooms and showers? What of when they demand to be part of women’s groups, organizations, sports teams, etc? Will the Leftists welcome them with open arms, or whine that they aren’t actually women? Don’t forget, there’s a movement from leftists about “cultural appropriation” and beyond crazy feminism, which are not exactly exclusionary.

Dillard Smith has already started a new website, Finding Middle Ground, dedicated to creating a “safe space” to discuss the new, red-hot national issue.

“How can we ask these kinds of questions without being called a homophobe?” the video asks. “How do we prevent predators from preying on kids in bathrooms?”

The website features a young black girl standing near a swing set, clasping its chain as she shares her own feelings. “I don’t want him to be uncomfortable in the boy’s bathroom, either,” she said. “I don’t want them to be uncomfortable anywhere. But what about me, too?”

What about women? Like with the Islamist debate, Leftists are more than willing to throw them under the bus in favor of the gender confused. And, yes, of course Dillard Smith has been verbally assaulted and insulted,

A transgender activist, a biological male who goes by the name Cheryl Courtney-Evans, responded to the resignation by calling Dillard Smith “lazy,” “ill-educated,” and a “b–ch” who needs to sit down and “STFU.”

And therein lies a part of the problem: rather than wooing people, the gender confused and their supporters are on a rampage of forced compliance, which includes the typical insults.

Good News: 2012 Was Wrong Year, World To End June 3-4

If there’s something you really need to get done, better do it quick. And it would really suck to finally win the lottery, eh?

(Times Of India) As four years after the deadline for the end of the world (as set by the Mayan calendar) came and went without incident, scholars across the world have been trying to put their heads together to understand how the advanced knowledge of the Mayans had gone wrong.

Turns out, it hadn’t.

Modern day scholars were the ones who got the date wrong. A series of miscalculations led to the faulty date, which has now been revised to five days from today, June 3-4 this year!

There’s all sorts of addition going on, and the notion that the Mayan calendar didn’t account for leap years. So, quit your job, sow your oats, spend all your money, and just go wild.*

*I don’t really have to tell you not to do any of that, right?

If Elected, Trump Would Mean Forever Climate Change Wars Or Something

Memorial Day: Trump’s War On Climate Action Would Ensure A World Of Wars

On Thursday, Donald Trump declared that if elected President, he would wage an all-out waragainst national and global climate action. On Friday, he went so far as to to deny the reality of California’s devastating drought.

Because Trump gave his big energy and climate speech right before Memorial Day, it is altogether fitting and proper that we look at what Trump’s plans to destroy a livable climate would mean for the future of war.

Trump said he would kill the EPA’s Clean Power Plan and all domestic climate-related regulations. And he said, “We’re going to cancel the Paris climate agreement” — truly humanity’s best if not only chance to avoid catastrophic irreversible climate change lasting 1000 years.

Now Trump can’t really cancel that agreement, since it involves nearly 200 other nations unanimously agreeing to leave most fossil fuels in the ground in a global effort to keep total warming “well below 2°C.” But since that agreement requires every country to ratchet down their carbon pollution targets ever five years, Trump could certainly throw a big wrench into the machinery of national and global climate action, making the already-difficult task of staying below 2°C nearly impossible.

He might not be able to cancel the agreement, but, he can end Americas’ involvement in it. Here’s the fun part, though

If President Trump does what he says he will, then America and the world will be doomed to decades, or more likely, centuries, of strife and conflict from catastrophic climate change from the synergistic effect of soaring temperatures, Dust-Bowlification, extreme weather, sea level rise and super-charged storm surges. These climate impacts will create the kind of food insecurity that drives war, conflict, and the competition for arable and habitable land.

Obama: Prepare To Run For Your Lives From Climate Change Hurricanes!

Obama trots out some duckspeak regarding hurricanes

(MRCTV) Pres. Obama called for every American to put together a disaster supply kit and evacuation plan because climate change is bringing “more powerful and more devastating” hurricanes to the U.S. – even though the U.S. hasn’t been hit with a major hurricane in more than a decade.

Announcing the June 1 start of hurricane season, Obama warned Americans to prepare for imminent climate change-caused hurricanes:

“All of us have seen the heartbreak, the damage and, in some case, the loss of life that hurricanes can cause. And as climate continues to change, hurricanes are only going to become more powerful and more devastating.

“One of the things that we have learned over the course of the last seven and a half years is that government plays a vital role, but it is every citizen’s responsibility to be prepared for a disaster. And that means taking proactive steps, like having an evacuation plan, having a fully stocked disaster supply kit. If your local authorities ask you to evacuate, you have to do it. Don’t wait.”

He’s not wrong on the second part, but, as to the first on climate change?

Meanwhile, the U.S. has now gone a record 127 straight months without a major hurricane making landfall – and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting a “near normal” Atlantic hurricane season this year.

For the past ten-plus years, “normal” has meant no major hurricanes – even with the effects (if any) of climate change – so “near normal” suggests the U.S. will remain safe from climate-caused hurricane devastation.

The last major hurricane to make landfall was Wilma, all the way back in 2005. Furthermore, since the big 2005 season, the continental US has only see a few hurricanes make landfall, some of which could be argued were not hurricanes at landfall. Not that a tropical storm is any fun, to be sure. Superstorm Sandy was not a hurricane at landfall.

Let’s not forget, there was a progression of Warmist duckspeak. First it was that the big 2005 season would be the new normal. Then, when landfalling activity dried up, it was that hurricane activity would lessen, but they’d be bigger and more powerful. When they failed to materialize, Warmists claimed that ‘climate change’ was killing the hurricanes and shifting them away from land. I guess Obama is back to the more powerful talking point.

One thing to be clear on: people in coastal areas should be prepared. People get complacent. And the actual normal is to see some landfalling hurricanes and tropical storms. Even a tropical depression can cause problems. Heck, Hurricane Sandy caused major problems here in Raleigh. And the storms can dump enormous amounts of rain far inland. You never know what a season will bring.

But, it’s not ‘climate change’.

Half Of Voters Think Hillary’s Use Of Private Server Was Illegal

This could be a wee bit of a problem for Entitled Hillary, and you can bet the ranch that the Trump campaign has seen, or will shortly see, this poll, using it as an added attack line against Hillary. Whatever you say about the guy, he will not only fire a salvo, but, he will keep firing and firing and firing.

(The Hill) Half of all voters think that Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as secretary of State was illegal, according to a new Morning Consult poll released Wednesday.

Meanwhile, 27 percent say they’re not sure if it was legal or not, and 22 percent believe it was legal. And 20 percent said the practice was ethical.

Nearly half of voters polled, 48 percent, see her use of a private server as a major problem for the campaign, while 24 percent see it as a minor one. Eighteen percent said it isn’t a problem at all.

Neither The Hill article nor the Morning Consult article break it down fully by party affiliation, race, sex, etc for the 2,001 registered voters surveyed. One must have a subscription to see the raw data. Regardless, this is a devastating poll for Hillary. With 50% saying it’s illegal, and the ability to sway another 27%, and you know that a goodly chunk of that 27% will have a low opinion if they aren’t quite sure, this could become a major issue and headache as pushed by Trump and Republicans as the general election approaches. Some pundits are very concerned with down ticket elections due to Trump. Well, Democrats should also be concerned for the down ticket elections, as they are linked with a corrupt and law-breaking presidential candidate.

There is a slight breakdown by party, per the Morning Consult article

But even among Democrats, a quarter of them think it is a major problem for Clinton, compared with 50 percent of self-identified independents and 78 percent of Republicans.

That will leave a mark. So will this

Only 20 percent of voters believed her practice was ethical.

In other words, 80% believe she acted in an unethical manner. Best case for Hillary is that the FBI comes out and says she broke no laws. At that point, though, we might as well understand that laws for you and me do not apply to Big Wigs.

Climate Change Today: What Is “Duckspeak”?

(Business Day Live) IN OCEANIA, the dystopian society of George Orwell’s novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, a new language was created by the government to control the thinking patterns of the populace. Officially labeled “Newspeak”, it was the first language that, when fully adopted, was meant to limit the range of human thought. Concepts such as freedom, scepticism, and debate were virtually unthinkable since no words existed to describe them, aside from the generic term “thoughtcrime”.

Perhaps most insidious was “duckspeak”, a form of speech consisting entirely of words and phrases approved by the party. Someone who had mastered duckspeak could fire off ideologically pure assertions like bullets from a machine gun without thinking at all. Their words merely emanated from the larynx like the quacking of a duck. Being called a duckspeaker was considered a sincere compliment since it indicated that you were well-versed in the official language and views of the state.

More than ever before, we are in an era of climate change duckspeak. Rather than being merely ridiculous or social satire, the apparent underlying purpose of climate duckspeak is ominous: to convince opinion leaders and the public to think about climate change only as the government wants. To support alternative points of view is “climate change denial”, today’s version of thoughtcrime, punishable by excommunication from responsible citizenry and, at times, loss of employment. If AGs United for Clean Power, a coalition of 16 Democratic state Attorneys General (AG), has their way, speaking out on the other side of the climate debate could soon result in civil or criminal charges.

Harris points out words and phrases like “carbon pollution”, “97% consensus”, and “green” as part of the duckspeak. Warmists are using this to justify the use of government force to increase the size and scope of government, especially centralized government. Increasing its power of people, private entities, energy, and the economy. Yet, most Warmists are unable to argue without their talking points. They’ve been told something, and they will simply parrot what they’ve heard. All while refusing to change their own lives to abide by their duckspeak.
