Deporting Illegal Aliens Is Persecution Or Something

The Hill has give Cesar Vargas, the first illegal alien admitted to the NY bar, a platform to complain about people not giving illegal aliens a break. You know, people who are unlawfully present in the U.S. And, it’s exactly this kind of stupidity that makes people harden their positions against folks like the so-called Dreamers

We can’t be complicit in persecution of immigrant communities

Yesterday, my mom and I sat at the kitchen table to discuss the White House’s latest demands for an immigration deal.

The administration says it will refuse to protect “Dreamers,” undocumented immigrants who were brought to the country as children, unless it gets a southern border wall, 10,000 new immigration agents, tougher laws on asylum seekers as well as extended families of immigrants and a right to deny federal grants to sanctuary cities.

The bottom line, as far as we could tell, was that the administration is looking to broaden how it targets, arrests and deports immigrants. As she served brown rice and boiled eggs for breakfast, my mother said calmly, “Si los ayuda a ustedes, no me importa lo que me pase a mi.”

It means, “if it helps you, I don’t care what happens to me.”

It speaks to her self-sacrifice: My mother would rather jump into the cross-hairs of an aggressive deportation regime than do anything that might prevent my younger brother and I from becoming citizens.

Her “self sacrifice” was crossing the U.S.-Mexico border with Vargas and several siblings illegally.

What the White House is asking for is the chance to persecute some immigrants in exchange for pledging to protect others. That kind of deal would only fuel a dangerous narrative about the good immigrant versus the bad immigrant, pitting better-educated immigrants against other undocumented individuals — people like my 74-year-old mother, Central American children and day laborers.

Here’s an idea: if Cesar doesn’t like that were are willing to consider some sort of legal status for those illegally brought by their parents when they were kids, well, let’s deport them all! As one wrote in the comments at The Hill “I’m so tired of illegal aliens making demands, I demand they leave my country.” Rather than being humble and contrite, and asking “please”, illegal aliens like Vargas pull a schtick of demands and insults. Do you help people who do this to you? Or do you tell them to go away? These people are not “immigrants”: per federal law, they are illegal aliens, and the law requires that they receive a small fine and be deported.

Americans Are Willing To Pay $117 A Year To Stop ‘Climate Change’ Or Something

The Cult of Climastrology members at Vox thing they’re on to something big! (the bold is Vox’s)

Designing a carbon tax requires answering two core policy questions. First, how much money should it raise? And second, how should the money be spent?

As to the first, the CLC proposal starts at $40 a ton and rises $5 a year. As to the second, the revenue goes to dividends, i.e., it is distributed back to citizens on a per-capita basis. (It’s a dividend of roughly $2,000 a year for a family of four, to begin with.) Policies like this are called “tax-and-dividend.”

Is that what the public wants?

It’s funny you should ask. The Yale Program on Climate Change Communication recently completed a large-scale survey of the public on this subject. The results were just published in the journal Environmental Research Letters.

Researchers asked a representative sample of 1,226, American adults questions seeking to determine two things. First, how much are Americans willing to pay per year to fight climate change? And second, what would they prefer government do with the revenue?

It’s the answers to the second question I want to highlight, but let’s look at the first really quickly.

How much are Americans will to pay a year to fight climate change? $177.

That’s interesting, since most Warmists haven’t been willing to pay more than a token few dollars nor make more than token changes in their own lives to become more carbon neutral.

Of course, the problem here is that any sort Doing Something will not be $177 a year, or, as the Journal puts it, “We find an overall mean WTP (willingness to pay) of US$177 per year, with a confidence interval ranging from US$101 to US$587.” It will be considerably more. Some have estimates as low as $1200 a year. Some much more. But, none of those truly factor in the rising costs of everything.

Also, notice that the scheme that is growing is one in which the Government reimburses you money for the pain they have caused, attempting to make you more dependent on Government. Which means they control you.

But, hey, Warmists, show us the way. Pony up and show that your truly believe.

SNL Goes Misogynistic In Portrayal Of Kellyanne Conway As Pennywise

It’s certainly not the first time Saturday Night Live has portrayed Ms. Conway negatively over her looks, and probably won’t be the last. It’s a pattern with SNL, and other Leftist media outlets, to attack her in a manner that would have them screaming in Offendinitiss if this was against a Democratic woman, and perhaps resounds a little heavier consider that they can barely touch any jokes about Harvey Weinstein, and, in light of Weinstein, a big Democrat, finally being exposed for the sexual harasser, and perhaps rapist, that he is

(Mediaite) Saturday Night Live lampooned Stephen King‘s It tonight by depicting Kellyanne Conway (played by Kate McKinnon) as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

The skit opens up with “Anderson Cooper” losing his rundown notes after they are blown out of his hand and fall down a storm drain. “Kelly-wise” greets Cooper when he looks down the drain, and she tries to entice the CNN host with crazy quotes so he’ll invite her back on TV.

When Cooper doesn’t go for it, Conway tries scaring him with headlines about President Trump‘s reelection in 2020. She eventually transforms into Hillary Clinton, who offers Cooper a free copy of her book.

Cooper is unable to resist the temptation, which leads to his arm being bitten off before he’s dragged into the sewers just like poor little Georgie Denbrough.

While this is not a major thing, it highlights the Left’s casual misogyny towards Republican women, something we’ve seen for a long, long time. It should surely be understood that politics is a dirty business, and you enter it at your own risk. However, if Republicans had done this skit (or all the others), every media outlet and Democratic politician would be shrieking about misogyny, would they not? These are the same people who turned an innocuous comment about binders of female candidates for jobs into the Worst Thing Ever against Romney, a guy who is as far from being anti-woman as possible. They claimed misogyny because VP Mike Pence will not meet with woman without his wife present.

Oh, and this was not the only political skit. There was also

And other stuff. Not to go all nostaligic, but, they used to be funny, something most could laugh at and enjoy, regardless of political stripe.

Bummer: Terror Threats Are A Distraction From ‘Climate Change’

Waleed Aly, an Australian born to Egyptian parents, is supposedly the face of “moderate Islam”. However, he has also been accused of being part of the extremist Muslim Brotherhood, of being a celebrity Muslim apologist, and other support for radical Islam. He writes this piece

Focus on terror threats a convenient distraction from climate change

Something illuminating always happens when terrorism and climate change are juxtaposed. It’s just that you need to remember to see it.

Take the past week, when variously our state, territory and federal governments agreed to introduce a suite of new counter-terrorism laws, while the Turnbull government reached such a point of paralysis on climate change that it even hinted it wouldn’t proceed with the clean energy target for which it has spent months laying foundations.

The contrast could hardly be starker. Extending the limits of counter-terrorism legislation in Australia is now a frictionless process. The really attentive might notice the odd squeak of concern about civil liberties, but it carries little public weight and even less political momentum, so legislative change just happens. Climate change, meanwhile, is not just beset by friction, it’s positively jammed. Even modest suggestions – and there is good analysis suggesting the Finkel report’s clean energy target is environmentally inadequate – become politically untenable. Consequently, nothing much happens.

This continues on and on and on. What Aly really wants is for the Australian government to stop spending so much time dealing with the real threat of Islamic terrorism, and switch to the fake issue of Hotcoldwetdry. One has to wonder what the real motivation here is.

Who’s Up For A Roswell Reboot That Goes SJW On Illegal Immigration?

The networks are already developing several shows regarding illegal aliens, obviously in a manner that supports and defends them. The CW is now jumping into the mix with a possible reboot to the short lived show Roswell, which was about some kids in Roswell, NM having romance with space aliens as stuff

(Bleeding Cool) As the series overview shows, the new Roswell will directly address the issue of immigration on two levels: the metaphorical sci-fi theme of “aliens-as-immigrants” that was present in the original series; and the very real issues surrounding the immigration debate and the impact it has on the children of undocumented immigrants:

The new, one-hour drama series follows the daughter of undocumented immigrants who reluctantly returns to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico. There she discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

The Mercury News puts it this way

What The CW has revealed about the plot so far is that the daughter of undocumented immigrants returns to Roswell and uncovers the truth about her teen crush, who has become a police officer. Turns out, he’s an alien who has successfully kept his special abilities hidden. She keeps his secret as the two work together to learn more about his origins and their romance rekindles, but everything is disrupted when a violent attack and a government cover-up unveil a greater alien presence on Earth. The two must fight to keep together and his secret safe.

Isn’t nice how the networks are trying to mainstream people who are unlawfully present in the United States? Perhaps they could tell us more on stories such as

Think Roswell, or the other network shows, will touch on these issues?

Trump Has Charted A Perilous Course On Iran Or Something

Is anyone surprised that the American news media would seemingly take Iran’s side when it comes to Obama’s Iran deal? It shouldn’t, because they’re also taking Mr. Obama’s side along with being in full Trump Derangement Syndrome. The NY Times is super excited to slam Trump, rather than the extremists in Iran who are still hell bent on building a nuclear weapon, chant “death to America”, and want to wipe Israel off the map. In one “fact check“, in their zealous TDS they forget that Iran will not allow inspections of their military sites, where most nuclear research occurs. They’re thrilled that European leaders are slamming Trump.

This same is occurring all over the Left-o-news. Let’s move to the Washington Post Editorial Board

Trump has charted a perilious course on Iran

IN AN act of political vanity and geopolitical folly, President Trump has made one of the most serious national security challenges facing the United States, that of Iran, considerably worse. His announcement Friday that he would report to Congress that the Islamic republic is not meeting the terms of the 2015 multinational accord limiting its nuclear program flouted the reports of international inspectors, the unanimous counsel of his national security team and the appeals of key U.S. allies. His threat to terminate the agreement if Congress and America’s allies do not meet his demands for revisions could easily lead to Iran’s resumption of a race toward nuclear weapons — a dangerous course that the deal brokered by the Obama administration succeeded in arresting.

The nuclear accord is flawed, including sunset provisions that remove restrictions on Iranian nuclear activities beginning eight years from now. But Mr. Trump’s hyperbolic claim that the deal is “one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into” is belied by the fact that the regime has gone from being less than a year away from being able to produce a nuclear device, according to U.S. intelligence estimates, to having a fraction of the necessary materiel, and that under close international monitoring. The president’s contention that Iran is guilty of “multiple violations of the agreement” is belied by eight reports of the International Atomic Energy Agency as well as statements by his secretaries of state and defense and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

If there’s anything that shows that the deal should be renegotiated, it’s the sentence in bold, something which was known, but rarely put in print by any of the Obama supporting news outlets. All Obama did was kick the can down the road. Is the WPEB good with Iran building nuclear weapons in 8 years? Iran gets all the benefits. Ability to trade, getting all that cash from Obama, selling their oil, and so forth.

Mr. Trump promised additional action to address the non-nuclear threats posed by Iran, including its interventions in Iraq and Syria. The administration is justified in imposing sanctions on Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. But it appears to have no clear plan to address Iran’s military entrenchment in Syria, which is threatening to touch off a new conflict with Israel. Rather than tackling those urgent challenges, Mr. Trump prefers to renounce the legacy of his political nemesis Barack Obama and thereby reopen the one front where Tehran is currently contained. North Korea will take note: The United States cannot be trusted to stick to any nuclear accord.

Except, the United States did not sign the accord, because it was structured, much like the Paris Climate Agreement, to avoid the federal body designated by the U.S. Constitution as the one to certify international deals. This is all spun in a manner to #resist Trump, to the point where US news outlets take Iran’s side.

NY Times Finally Let’s Us Know That The Obama Economy Stunk Like Durian Fruit

Have you ever smelled Durian fruit? Don’t. “It’s odor is best described as pig-shit, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock. It can be smelled from yards away. Despite its great local popularity, the raw fruit is forbidden from some establishments such as hotels, subways and airports, including public transportation in Southeast Asia.”

https://twitter.com/WilliamTeach/status/918651202014937088

From the article

Since the first rumblings of the financial crisis, in 2007, people have comforted themselves by looking back to the Great Depression and thinking about how much worse things could be. It’s true, too. Our modern economic crisis has been far less severe than the Depression.

Yet our crisis isn’t over. By almost any measure — employment, income, net worth, total output — the economy is still suffering.

Of course, writer David Leonhardt avoids mentioning Obama, or assigning any blame for the terrible recovery, and attempts to point towards 2019 as being bad (and that Government should spend oodles of money, because that worked wonders, eh?), but, the basics are there: the Obama economy was terrible. Eight years of ineffective policies and massive debt really didn’t help.

Of course, if things are so so in 2019, they’ll simply blame Trump. We won’t hear the whole “inherited” meme.
