Senior Living Facility in Distress as Immigrant Caregivers Are Forced Out

Really, the original headline was “How Trump’s Immigration Crackdown Is Hurting Elder Care”. Perhaps that TDS was just a bit much for the NY Times?

Channing House, a senior living community just a mile from Stanford University, is home to pioneering scientists, tech executives and inventors. But during a recent meeting, its residents confronted a problem they felt powerless to fix: the sudden loss of their caregivers to immigration policies.

“Our work force is being drastically disrupted, relationships are being severed and lives are being upended right now,” said Rhonda Bekkedahl, the center’s chief executive, who convened the gathering in June that was attended by about half of the 250 residents of the community in Palo Alto, Calif.

The Trump administration’s immigration crackdown is colliding with a demographic reality. Americans are aging rapidly and living longer, creating soaring demand for elder care when the industry is already buckling under the weight of chronic labor shortages.

Millions of immigrants, eligible to work in the United States, fill positions across the elder care industry such as nurses, dietitians, fitness instructors and maintenance technicians. And countless undocumented immigrants care for seniors in their homes, part of a vast informal economy.

If your work plan is dependent on illegal aliens and temporary visitors, many of them illegals given work permits, well, the people who run the business should be fired, because it is a straight gamble to think that every administration will allow this to continue.

But, the point here is to enrage bleeding hearts, and maybe convert some on the edge. All while forgetting what the Law says.

Unhinged Liberal With “Anti-ICE” Material Attacks Federal Building In NYC

Suspect named in New York City alleged incendiary device attack, had ‘anti-ICE stuff’ on him

The suspect accused of deploying an incendiary device outside 26 Federal Plaza in New York Monday morning is named Andrew Arrabaca, two law enforcement sources have confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The sources both confirmed that Arrabaca had “anti-ICE stuff on him” at the time of the alleged attack.

The FBI announced that Arrabaca was taken into custody shortly after the incident.

“This morning an individual deployed an incendiary device outside of 26 Federal Plaza in New York. The individual is in custody and two minor injuries reported thus far. FBI [Joint Terrorism Task Force] is investigating the incident,” FBI Director Kash Patel noted in a post on X.

FBI New York field office Assistant Director in Charge James Barnacle Jr. said that Arrabaca had an unidentified liquid on him, and that he “put the liquid down, set some fireworks on top of it,” causing a “little fire.” Initial reports said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were involved in the arrest.

According to Barnacle, the suspect was armed with a pellet gun, and that two people, a federal employee and a civilian, were injured. Both were treated and released.

Crazy, unhinged, and violent is what the Democratic base has become

Greenie Weenies Embrace Data Center Fight (it’s good for their fund raising)

Most “environmental” groups exist at this point simply to make money and be annoying

‘A better way to be relevant’: Greens embrace data center fight

The nation’s biggest green groups have joined the fray over data centers — and they’re starting to notch some victories after 18 months of stinging environmental setbacks under the Trump administration.

Groups including the Sierra Club, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Earthjustice, and Food and Water Watch are ramping up national campaigns, activating volunteers in states and providing support for local fights against the massive artificial intelligence facilities that are spreading across the country.

Their strategy is aimed at engaging with voters where they are most focused, and it could help generate new enthusiasm — as well as a stream of fresh funding — from progressive backers who have been far less aggressive in fighting for environmental causes than they were during the first Trump administration.

“There is not a better way to be relevant that is as prevalent as data centers,” said Jane Kleeb, founder and director of BOLD Alliance, which got its start organizing rural landowners against the Keystone XL oil pipeline. “After doing this work for 20 years, it is easier to mobilize communities to block something than it is to build something.”

Wow. That is one hell of a statement on the back of the fundraising thing. The “progressives” want to block progress. They aren’t about doing things, they are about stopping them, or, at least, trying to. Remember, these wackos tried to stop many solar and wind projects, such as the Ivanpah (crappy) solar facility.

Since President Donald Trump returned to office, the environmental movement has suffered a series of losses: a weakening of air and water pollution laws for factories and vehicles, eradication of climate change rules, and a sharp turn away from clean energy sources and toward fossil fuels.

Now, opposition to the data center construction boom is offering a new opportunity — and green groups lodged a big win on Tuesday when Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul froze most new large-scale data center construction in the state, yielding to calls to pause projects until the state can establish standards around their development.

That will enable the environmental groups to weigh in on new energy sources in the state and potentially head off the expansion of fossil fuel power sources that would increase climate change-causing carbon emissions and other pollution.

And they’ll just go elsewhere, bringing their jobs and taxable earnings to other states.

The Sierra Club is sifting through arcane state utility regulator filings to discover how data centers get their power. Earthjustice beefed up a pollution enforcement team to hit air quality violators. NRDC helped shape policies that New Jersey Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill signed into law, and has helped communities like Aurora, Ill., design standards for development. Food and Water Watch crafted community organizing tool kits to help support grassroots opposition to data centers.

And they’re all getting lots and lots of donations for which they spend little on actually protecting the environment. But, all the employees, especially the top end, get paid a lot of money.

BTW, just to be clear, I haven’t made my own decision on data centers, except in terms of making sure they are built away from people, because they are apparently loud. They are the future, though.

LOL: Climate Crisis (scam) Is Baking Us To Death Or Something

There once was a day when the Credentialed Media kept things responsible, left the Crazy for the supermarket tabloids, but, today is no longer that day

Column: Climate change’s heat is baking us to death. We must act.

America celebrated its 250th year of independence under a historic heat dome that shattered more than 148 records for daily high temperature across the Eastern United States.

The nation’s capital recorded the hottest Fourth of July on record at 103 degrees. Philadelphia, where our Declaration of Independence was written, recorded three days in a row above 101 degrees for the first time. The heat was so severe that parades and events across the country were canceled, including the flagship Independence Day Parade planned in Washington. The heat index in Chicago exceeded 100 degrees on July 1, putting the power grid under strain.

It isn’t just the United States. Heat waves have rocked Europe three times already this summer, with record temperatures hitting the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Portugal in late May, late June and again in July. The June heat wave caused more than 1,300 excess deaths. With less snow on the ground each year to deflect the sun, and the warming Arctic nearby, where rapidly melting sea ice leaves more ocean to absorb the sun’s energy, Europe is warming faster than any other region on earth.

Everywhere is warming faster, you know, but, really, this happens during a Holocene warm period, especially during a big El Nino.

All of this is threatening to collapse the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, or AMOC, a critical ocean current system that pulls water from warm areas of the ocean up north where it cools and sinks and cycles back south. The Gulf Stream, which brings warm water from the Gulf of Mexico into the Atlantic Ocean and shapes the climate in the United States as well as Western Europe, is part of that system.

Once thought to be a low-risk possibility for some future generation, new estimates suggest AMOC could collapse within decades and that it’s already too late to turn back the clock.

There is much cult in you, Champ.

Ironically, the very things that help Americans avoid the realities of climate change are speeding it up: our car-based lifestyle, our plentiful air conditioning, our economy based largely on industries that happen inside away from the elements. I lived and worked in Africa for years and never met an African skeptical of climate change.

Well, Elizabeth Shackleford, they also tend to live like it’s a couple hundred years ago with a bit of modern technology around. They’re 3rd world. And they like all the sweet, sweet, climate cash with not strings attached from 1st World nations.

We Americans can choose to put our heads in the sand, but it’s hot down there now, too.

Wildly, few 1st World Warmists actually practice what they preach. How many have even given up their own use of fossil fueled vehicles?

NICE Will Require Agents To Use Body Cams For Traffic Stops

I’m not sure why they aren’t all wearing body cams now, other than being able to purchase them. Requiring body cams for local, county, and state law enforcement was the worst thing that could happen to all the nutters who accused them of wrongdoing, right?

ICE will require its officers to record vehicle stops

In the wake of multiple fatal shootings involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, the agency will require its officers to record vehicle stops with at least one body camera, Trump administration border czar Tom Homan said Sunday.

“They exonerate more law enforcement than they convict, and I want officers to wear body cameras because I want the American people to see what the officers saw when they took that action,” Mr. Homan said on the “Fox & Friends Weekend” program.

Mr. Homan’s comments come after federal immigration agents fatally shot two men six ?days apart during traffic stops in Texas and Maine earlier this month. There is no body-camera footage from ICE agents involved in those incidents.

In a separate interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation” show, Mr. Homan said money for the cameras was held up during the partial government shutdown earlier this year.

“The cameras have been purchased right now,” Mr. Homan said. “They’re training the trainer in deploying the cameras nationwide.”

Of course, the moonbats often refuse to accept the actual video, like with the shooting of Renee Good after she tried to run over agents. The video clear shows contact, her trying to use her multi-ton vehicle as a weapon.

Mamdani desperately seeking legal loophole to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu when Israel PM visits NYC

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he’s desperately seeking a legal loophole to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged war crimes when he visits in NYC in September.

The Pro-Palestine, Israel-hating, socialist pol said in an interview published Saturday that it’s unclear whether he has the authority to order the NYPD to arrest Netanyahu during the prime minister’s expected trip to the Big Apple for the UN General Assembly – but is in an “active conversation” with the city’s Law Department about the matter.

“I believe that Prime Minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague,” Mamdani bluntly told The New York Times, referring to the United Nations’ International Court of Justice.

“He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the International Criminal Court. And what you will find is that it is an opinion that is held by many purely because of what his actions have wrought over these last many years.”

Mamdani – who has made accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza a focal point of a far-left ideology that has helped propel him into the national spotlight  – vowed during last year’s campaign that, if elected mayor, he’d have Netanyahu arrested if he ever set foot in NYC.

He’s desperately looking for a way to arrest Israel’s PM, who has diplomatic immunity for one thing, and wants to do it because he hates Israel, loves Islamic jihadis, and despises Jews, much like a good majority of those who voted for him.

Netanyahu, however, remains unfazed by Mamdani’s threats.

In a recent radio appearance, he accused Mamdani of supporting Hamas.

“I think he should look at who he’s condemning, who he’s praising. He’s condemning Israel, the one democracy that stands shoulder to shoulder with American values,” the prime minister said during an interview this week with Sid Rosenberg on 77 WABC.

“Who does he champion? Hamas, that calls openly to massacre every Jew on earth, that conducted that horrible massacre [on Oct. 7, 2023], the worst massacre on Jews since the Holocaust.”

He also said Mamdani “doesn’t care” that “those who hate the Jews and Israel ultimately hate America.”

I triple dog dare Mamdani to try it.

How to Abandon Your Climate Commitments and Get Away With It

Not so long ago, many of America’s biggest companies were making bold promises about saving the planet.

They pledged to stop polluting, get off fossil fuels and use recyclable materials. Some even promised to reinvent their core business practices, speaking aspirationally about a new, more sustainable economy.

These goals were set, and trumpeted, by the companies making the phone in your pocket, the shoes on your feet and the food in your fridge — and others. Coca-Cola, a company that produces as much plastic trash as any in the world, even began talking about “a world without waste.”

Over the past few years, however, many of these environmental commitments have evaporated.

Some companies have changed the way they measure progress. Others postponed their deadlines for making change. One company said its customers simply didn’t care about the issue anymore.

Really, most companies were only paying lip-service to the climate cult to get the cultists off their backs. Many had DEI offices/HR who were chock full of nutbags who pushed this garbage on the companies, but, really, mostly lip-service. But, things changed

Under President Biden, there was extraordinary pressure for big business to address climate change. The Trump administration is now pushing companies to abandon climate goals and encouraging the use of more oil, gas and coal, claiming that environmental initiatives are “woke” distractions that hamper economic growth.

But the waning climate ambition across corporate America often has an even simpler explanation: Many companies have concluded it is simply too difficult and too expensive to drastically reduce planet warming emissions, especially at a moment of rising energy demand.

With Biden being gone and the Trump admin wacking governmental climate cultism companies are truly just saying “we don’t care about this scam anymore, and we don’t care if people know it.” But, the part about it being just too darned expensive is illuminating, eh?
